ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 27, 2017

Orphan Liam Ryan isn’t asking for much this Christmas–just his Uncle John. And he’s counting on Father Christmas to find a way to make that happen.

But when Father Christmas tosses Liam’s letter, claiming that the kid is asking the impossible, his daughter, Winter, takes over. Half-pixie, Winter, longs to do something important with her life, starting with getting a job at the Order of the Shadow Accords, the organization that polices the supernatural world. When she discovers Liam’s uncle works for the Order, it seems like fate.

Savaged by werewolves and bitten by a vampire, no one knows what to expect of John Ryan, but it won’t be anything good. So there’s no way he’s getting involved with his nephew…or anyone else. Worse, he’s getting a babysitter over the holidays. But when he meets irrepressible Winter, all that matters is whether she likes her guys to be naughty or nice.

REVIEW: BITTERSWEET CHRISTMAS is instalment 3.5 in Nina Croft’s contemporary, adult THE ORDER paranormal/ fantasy romance series focusing on the men and women who work for The Order of the Shadow Accords- an organization that polices the supernaturals of the world. This is half-pixie Winter, and former human, now a vampire/werewolf John Ryan ‘s story line. BITTERSWEET CHRISTMAS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Winter and John) BITTERSWEET CHRISTMAS finds our heroine tasked with ‘babysitting’ the recently turned John Ryan, a man who struggles with the beast within; a vampire/werewolf hybrid whose wolf has yet to come to the surface. Hoping to gain a position within the Order, Winter offers herself up as bodyguard and protector of the one-time human cop, a position she abuses, as she battles between her heart and what she is tasked to do.

One year earlier John Ryan killed the wolf-pack alpha, and in the ensuing time a price has been placed on our hero’s head. In hiding for his own protection, and the protection of others, John has all but abandoned his fifteen year old nephew Liam, a young man he took guardianship of upon the teen’s mother’s death. A letter to Santa finds Liam Ryan asking for the return of the uncle he hasn’t seen in months-a letter that finds it way to Winter and her father who happens to be Father Christmas, among other names. What ensues is the building relationship between Winter and John Ryan, and the potential fall out when John’s whereabouts are revealed to those hunting him down as Winter ensures Liam’s Christmas wish is answered.

BITTERSWEET CHRISTMAS is a sexy paranormal Christmas tale; a quick read; a story of insta-lust with limited sex scenes due in part to the nature of a novella. The premise is sweet and edgy; the characters are colorful and spirited; the romance is intimate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. For fans of the series, it has been approximately three years since the author last released a title in The Order series but many will recognize John Ryan from his previous involvement as well as the return of Piers Lamont, vampire and head of the Order of the Shadow Accords.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 25 ,2017

Sadie Brooks grew up knowing she was different…special. And she thought the undercover work she did for the government was making a difference…making a better world. Then she discovered she was simply an asset—to be used or destroyed at whim.

Escaping her government controllers, Sadie is determined to get her revenge on the organization responsible for the death of her twin sister—the Conclave.

Ethan Weiland has doubts about the Conclave but he’s never known anything else.
Brought up from birth as the next hereditary leader, Ethan has never questioned his
destiny. Until he comes face to face with a beautiful enemy who can read his mind and bring him to his knees with a thought. For the first time, Ethan sees a chance for redemption. When he’s in charge, he’ll be able to change things.

Too bad it won’t be that simple.

REVIEW: UNSPEAKABLE is the second installment in Nina Croft’s adult BEYOND HUMAN paranormal, sci-fi romance series focusing on a class of supernatural humans known as the Tribe-descendants from a group of people discovered, over 100 years earlier, by an expedition to the Mountains of the Moon (Congo Free State of Africa). This is Tribe member Sadie Brooks, and Conclave royalty/Afghanistan army veteran Ethan Weiland’s story line. UNSPEAKABLE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion. There is a prequel short story-NO MORE LIES-that introduces the premise behind the series concept. On that note, NO MORE LIES can be found in the multi-authored anthology THE TELEPATH CHRONICLES originally released in 2014.

SOME BACKGROUND: The Tribe believe themselves to be descendants of a species of humans blessed and cursed with supernatural, psychic powers. Their discovery has led to the formation of the Conclave who have taken it upon themselves to experiment with the mind and the brain, destroying that which they do not understand.

Told from several third person points of view including Sadie and Ethan UNSPEAKABLE continues to focus on the discrimination and specieism aimed at the descendants of the Tribe- a race of tall, blue-eyed Caucasians believed to be the product of inbreeding who were transferred to Scotland, given a home and all but forgotten until a secret, government faction known as the Conclave set about trying to capture and experiment upon those that have survived. Sadie Brooks’ latest assignment finds her face to face with the enemy and her future-Ethan Weiland- a man whose direct link to the Conclave places Sadie and the members of the Tribe in mortal danger. When a mutual contact is found dead, Sadie sets into motion a meeting with the man with whom she will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Sadie and Ethan as they attempt to uncover the whereabouts of Sadie’s missing friends; and the search for the truth behind the Conclave’s desire to eradicate a species struggling to survive.

UNSPEAKABLE is a detailed story line that follows several paths including the revelations about the death of Sadie’s sister, and Ethan’s mom; the imprisonment, experimentation and death of members of the Tribe; and the discovery that not everything and everyone is who they appear to be. A time-machine, possibly from the future, is the Tribe’s only link to the past-a past that is quickly re-written at every turn.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including several members of the Conclave, the Tribe, and the introduction of a potentially new but familiar enemy on the horizon. We are introduced to Ethan’s father, his cousin Travis, Travis’s wife Joelle, and Ethan’s assistant ex-military Fergus Baker. I am hoping Fergus will find his happily ever after.

UNSPEAKABLE is a story of family and friendships; discrimination and fear; and the struggle to survive. The premise is entertaining and intriguing; the characters are colorful, dynamic and challenging; the romance is passionate and forbidden. UNSPEAKABLE is a revealing installment in Nina Croft’s BEYOND HUMAN series.

“This is for real?” Fergus sounded…bemused. “She can read minds?”
“Oh, it’s real,” Sadie said. She strolled across and patted Fergus on the arm. He flinched under the touch. “But don’t worry, I won’t tell your boss that his big, bad, macho assistant has been secretly in love with him for the last twelve years.”
Fergus stepped back, shock stamped clear on his face. Ethan was sure his own looked the same. Had she just said Fergus was in love with him?
Sadie laughed out loud. “I’m kidding, guys. Geez, you’re so easy to wind up.”
He shook his head. “Really?”
She grinned. “Hey, you have to admit it was funny. Just the expressions on your faces.”
“Bitch,” Fergus muttered. He stood staring at the floor for a minute. “So what am I thinking?”
“Three thousand five hundred and sixty…four. Though why I’m playing along with this, I don’t know. It’s nothing to do with me if you don’t believe. I’m sure there’s nothing in your head worth seeing.” She turned her attention to him. “He thinks you should kill me. I’m too dangerous to keep around. Too many secrets.” She went back to her perch on the desk, swinging the empty glass from her fingers. “You know, those government controllers promised us a world with no more secrets. No more lies. Then they gave us the same old shit.”
She sounded bitter and sad. He wanted her laughter back, and as the thought crossed his mind, a small smile curved her lips. “You know you’re not the badass you like to make out to be.”
He decided to give Fergus time to come to terms with things. He was clearly still in the shock stage.
“Why did you run in the end?” he asked her. “What changed?”
“One of us died. He wasn’t the first, but we’d always believed them before—they told us the deaths were from natural causes. But they’d been lying to us almost from the start.”
Maybe not from the start. More likely, when the Conclave got involved. She looked at him sharply and gave a quick nod in agreement.
“Did someone close to you die?”
“My twin sister. Four years ago. They said it was some sort of blood disease, but they killed her, experimenting on her until she died. I never even saw the body.”
“Is that why you came looking? Is that what you want out of all this? Revenge?”
She pursed her lips, maybe considering what to tell him. “Actually, I do want revenge. But the main reason my group is hunting the Conclave is because, believe it or not, we’re more interested in secrecy than even you are.”
“Why is that? “Ethan asked.
“Ah well, now that would be telling secrets.”
God, she was annoying. “The hunted becomes the hunter,” Ethan said. “I quite like the concept. It has a certain irony.”
“So you’re not a prostitute?” Fergus interrupted them. He still sounded a little bemused.
“Why? Were you hoping to do business with me?”
“I don’t pay.”
She rolled her eyes. “Why ever would you have to? You’re such a charmer. But no, I’m not a prostitute.”
“And you read minds.”
“Among other things.”
“What else?” Ethan asked.
“I can talk to animals. Well, not really talk, but they understand me and usually do what I ask.”
“How well do you read minds? How much can you see?” Fergus sounded rattled.
“Now that would be telling. But I’m not the best. Let’s just say, I can see that you don’t want to believe me, but you do. You think Ethan has made a deal with the devil—that’s a bit strong by the way, I’m not that bad—which will likely get us all killed.” She studied him for a minute, her eyes narrowed, her head cocked on one side. Poor Fergus almost squirmed beneath her direct stare. “You think he wants this too much, and that he should maybe leave the past in the past, where it belongs. And move on.”
How much was she getting? He wasn’t ready to reveal his purpose yet.
She shook her head. “But the problem is, Ethan’s not ready to move on. Mainly because he has nowhere he wants to go. Poor Ethan. Brought up to believe he’s got the right to rule the world and part of him thinks, yes—he can do a better job than most—so why not?” She gave him a small smile. “But he also suspects that ultimate power corrupts, and a system based on hereditary passing on of power can only ever lead to disaster. And that soon, he might very well be faced with a difficult choice.” She shrugged. “Fingers crossed he makes the right decision.”

REVIEW: RESCUED BY THE SPACE PIRATE is the first of three installments in Nina Croft’s serialized adult Ruby Robbins Sexy Space Odyssey erotic, sci-fi series focusing on human female Ruby Robbins, and space pirate Killian Sharpe.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Killian and Ruby) RESCUED BY THE SPACE PIRATE is a story line focusing on the search for sex slavers in space. Ruby Robbins lived a normal life on Earth but one day everything she thought she was and had was gone. Losing her job and her boyfriend within a matter of minutes found Ruby considering an offer in outer space-her boss’s daughter was missing and Ruby was tasked with locating the woman in question by getting herself captured by the slavers. But things don’t go according to plan as Ruby finds herself being rescued by a sexy, space pirate and his sidekick Zak. Enter Killian Sharpe who begins to fall for our story line heroine.

I had no idea what to expect when I was offered the chance to read RESCUED BY THE SPACE PIRATE. I had previously read the author’s amazing Dark Desires paranormal/sci-fi series and was hoping for something in the same style but the author has travelled a different path, and for anyone interested in reading I recommend going into the story (and series) prepared for anything including alien $ex and tongue in cheek virtual imagery. Our heroine is a woman determined to rescue a number of slaves from outer space but first she takes times to feed her sexual desires. I can only compare the story line to Han Solo and Chewbacca going to rescue the Princess Leia with an erotic twist, or the old Saturday afternoon Flash Gordon serials (or Flesh Gordon for those who were so inclined) .

REVIEW: STOLEN BY THE SPACE PIRATE is the second instalment in Nina Crofts’s serialized, adult Ruby Robbins Sexy Space Odyssey erotic, sci-fi serial.

NOTE: STOLEN BY THE SPACE PIRATES contains scenes of F/F sexual situations and forced sexual acts.

Told from dual first person points of view (Ruby and Killian) STOLEN BY THE SPACE PIRATE is the continuing story of Ruby’s rescue from space alien sex slavers on the planet Groth. Our heroine believes she is on a mission to rescue her boss’s daughter but finds herself an unwilling sex slave to the princess in charge, and the truth about her mission will become abundantly clear when Killian reveals that someone has set up our heroine for a fall.

Once again, the story line reads like a Saturday afternoon serial with all of the hallmarks of a campy comic book story for adults including the over the top sexual situations.

REVIEW: SAVING THE SPACE PIRATE is the third and final instalment in Nina Croft’s adult Ruby Robbins Sexy Space Odyssey erotic, sci-fi serialized story line. This is the continuing story of space pirate Killian Sharpe and Ruby Robbins.

Told from dual first person points of view ( Killian and Ruby) SAVING THE SPACE PIRATE follows Killian’s return to Groth to rescue the woman he loves who has been held prisoner as a sex slave to the planet’s princess. Meanwhile Ruby struggles to keep focused as she believes a rescue is imminent. What ensues is a rescue mission that finds Killian reconnecting with his past, and Ruby making plans to save the world.

Nina Croft’s RUBY ROBBINS SEXY SPACE ODYSSEY serial is an erotic space adventure that requires the reader to let go of reality, sit back and enjoy the ride accepting the story for what it is worth….an exaggerated piece of ‘pulp science fiction’. There are many groan-worthy moments wrapped in an erotic blanket of steam and sex; the action and adventure sequences will be familiar to fans of the Star Wars saga.

And he’s been that way, ever since.

If only she could forget that she’d spent the last three years fantasizing about the stunningly gorgeous detective who locked her away.

It’s inevitable that they meet up again—in bars, hotels…and hotel beds. Despite their differences, they can’t keep their hands off each other. Still, it’s just desire. If they give it enough time, it’ll burn itself out. Because a good boy and a bad girl can’t possibly make it work. Can they?

REVIEW: FALLING FOR THE BAD GIRL is the first installment in Nina Croft’s contemporary, adult CUTTING LOOSE erotic, romance series. This is detective Nathan Carter, and former inmate Regan Malloy’s story line.

Enter detective Nathan Carter-a second generation police officer-and the man who hasn’t stopped thinking about the beautiful woman who stars in all of his erotic fantasies and dreams. What ensues is the building but forbidden relationship between thief and detective- Regan and Nathan- and Regan’s attempts to hide their secret from the family she loves.

FALLING FOR THE BAD GIRL finds Nathan Carter unable to separate business from pleasure. His attraction to Regan comes at a time when his personal life begins to implode as the father he adores battles cancer, and a relationship with a former thief threatens his advancement and standings on the force. Regan is determined to go straight but her relationship with detective Nathan Carter is all sorts of problems for her family and her friends. As our heroine struggles with her future, Nathan struggles with his relationship with the woman with whom he is falling in love. The sex scenes are seductive and intense.

Regan’s friendships on the inside are her only hope upon release-former inmates Darcy and Summer who help our heroine get settled and start her on a path towards a new life.

FALLING FOR THE BAD GIRL switches up the bad boy/good girl trope in that our heroine is guilty of the crimes she committed- a reformed thief, an ex-con, who is determined to make it on her own in a world that does not accept the life that she once led. The premise is entertaining; the characters are spirited, intelligent and dynamic; the romance is provocative and challenging. FALLING FOR THE BAD GIRL is a spicy look at a forbidden relationship.

Oh, right, her family hates him, and he’s done terrible things. Or has he? But it doesn’t matter. When he finds out the truth about who she really is…he’ll never want to see her again.

••••••••••••••

REVIEW: HIS FANTASY BRIDE is the third installment in Nina Croft’s adult, contemporary THINGS TO DO BEFORE YOU DIE erotic, romance series focusing on three friends -Vito, Josh and Logan. Six weeks earlier, a cruise ship fire left the three friends struggling to survive; each made a commitment to go after the one that got away.. This is billionaire businessman, and professor of archaeology Vito (Vittorio) D’Ascensio, and dancer Gabrielle Harper’s story line. HIS FANTASY BRIDE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Some of the events run parallel to the events of the books one and two.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Vito and Gabby) the story line focuses on a lie. Six months earlier Gabrielle disappeared the night before their wedding and Vito has been lost for close to six months-no explanation, no contact with Gabby, and a near death experience that left him scarred finds our hero searching for the woman who broke his heart. Finding Gabrielle, in London, was easy but he had hopes she would have returned to him, and Sicily, on her own. What ensues are Vito’s attempts to get to the truth, and Gabby’s need to keep her distance from the man that she loves by running whenever confrontation is at hand.

HIS FANTASY BRIDE follows Gabby as she is riddled with guilt; the lies she perpetuated and continues to tell in the hopes that the truth will never be revealed. Our heroine avoids the truth throughout most of the story making for some frustrating moments. We follow along while Gabby contemplates revealing the true nature of her lies; her internal dialogue is one of constant guilt and shame, yet she is no closer to an apology or the truth. The ‘before’ Gabrielle was all an act; the after ‘Gabby’ is a complete turn around, and both are difficult to accept. In the end we know very little about the couple’s original relationship- how they met, fell in love etc-some background history and more character development would have been nice.

We are introduced to Vito’s two best friends-Logan McCabe and Josh Slater-both looking to reconnect with women from their pasts. When a cruise ship fire left the three friends struggling to survive, each made a commitment to go after the one that got away. As an aside, I would have liked to have learned more about the friendship, and the fire-the who, what, why and how. Gabby’s roommate Theresa is a woman who pushes Gabby to tell Vito the truth; and Theresa’s brother Luka- a man who vows vengeance using any mean possible including Gabrielle Harper.

HIS FANTASY BRIDE is an interesting tale of betrayal and vengeance; lies and deceit; forgiveness and love. A good portion of the story line finds the reader inside the heroine’s head as she waffles between telling the truth or ‘running away’. There are plenty of sexcapades between our leading couple even though Gabby puts a halt to their sexual relationship at one point. When the truth is revealed there may be no going back for our leading couple.

Excerpt

READ Chapter 1 from HIS FANTASY BRIDE

Today would have been the six-month anniversary of her wedding.
If I hadn’t run.
The thought caught Gabby in an unguarded moment. For a second her surroundings faded and she was back under the warm Sicilian sun. With Vito.
Her feet faltered—the dancer on her right whirled around, rammed into her, and Gabby crashed to the stage floor with a thump, the air knocked from her lungs. She lay for a minute, gazing at the sea of multicolored legs around her and the empty chairs in the front row.
“Crap,” she muttered, pushing herself up onto her hands and knees and then to her feet, brushing down her purple leotard and hitching up her bubblegum pink legwarmers. The music stopped and everyone’s attention focused on her. She gave a shrug. “Sorry.”
It had been her fault; she’d turned the wrong way. Luckily it was only a rehearsal, but all the same—she was better than this.
Get a grip, wuss.
“Perhaps we could have a little more attention, Gabby.” The choreographer’s voice held more than a hint of sarcasm. “And we might all get home before midnight.” Yeah, that would be good—it was only eleven in the morning, and they had a show tonight.
She was the newest member of the cast of a long-running West End musical, but that shouldn’t have made a difference. She was a professional. It didn’t help that her miserable state was self-inflicted. Her head pounded from too many chocolate-strawberry martinis the night before. She’d gone out with her bestie Theresa and drunk way too much, drowning her sorrows.
Wimp.
Not that she had anything to be sorrowful about. Not really. Her mum was doing well, responding to the treatment, and her brother was out of trouble—fingers crossed the little monster would stay that way.
And finally, she had a good job. Yay!
Not as good as the one she’d lost when she broke her arm, but good enough to pay the rent if she ever got off her pathetic backside and looked for a place of her own instead of Theresa’s couch. And if she didn’t mess up, the job would go on for a long time. The show had been running for years; there was no reason to believe it would end anytime soon.
Which all meant that there was absolutely no reason to feel so goddamn miserable all the time.
Just don’t think about a certain Sicilian.
A face flashed up in her mind—a stunningly flawless face, with sharp cheekbones, eyes like bitter chocolate, and the longest, blackest lashes she had ever seen.
Oh God, I just thought about Vito. Total bummer.
“Gabby!”
She jumped and found everyone still staring at her.
“Are you ready?”
She gave a quick nod. “Yes, boss.”
The music started, and she forced everything from her mind and, thankfully, soon lost herself in the rhythm. She loved that moment when the dance and music took over, her surroundings faded, and she was transported to another world. She danced until her legs ached and a sheen of sweat covered her body. She was just congratulating herself on not putting a foot wrong when she raised her head and caught sight of a tall figure standing in the aisle.
Her mind went blank, her feet tangled, and for a second time that morning, she crashed to the floor. This time she lay with her eyes tight shut, unwilling to open them until someone nudged her in the side.
She peeked through her lashes, stared at the spot, but the man was gone. A figment of her imagination? Not a chance in hell. She wasn’t that lucky.
She scrambled to her feet. “Sorry, sorry, sorry,” she mumbled, giving another little shrug. “I got distracted. It won’t happen again. Super big promise.”
“We’ll start from the beginning.”
The rest of the dancers groaned, but as far as Gabby was concerned, he could keep them there all day and past midnight. Here on the stage, she was someone else, and real life couldn’t touch her.
But once she left the stage, all bets were off.

Madre di Christo.
Vittorio D’Ascensio backed up and collapsed into one of the crimson velvet seats at the rear of the auditorium, never taking his gaze from the stage and the woman he’d come to find.
What the hell?
He would never have recognized her if she hadn’t fallen over and drawn attention to herself. Even then, it had taken long moments for him to realize that this was his Gabrielle.
It was inconceivable, as though the world had tilted, leaving him floundering and off-balance. For a moment it was as though he was back on that burning ship, struggling for air, in a world turned to chaos. He’d nearly died that night three weeks ago, and it had been Gabrielle’s image that had kept him going, given him the strength to fight his way out of there. To survive.
Confronting death could have a profound effect on a man, bringing him face-to-face with his regrets. Afterward, in the lifeboat, Vito had made a vow that he would find Gabrielle, convince her that he did love her, persuade her to come back to him.
He rubbed a finger over the scar that ran down his cheek from his eye to his upper lip—a constant reminder of that night and the vow he’d made.
Now here he was.
The loud music assaulted his ears, thumping in his head. She’d told him she was a classical ballerina on a hiatus as she waited for a wrist injury to heal. This was as far from classical ballet as it was possible to get. All the same, he couldn’t drag his gaze from her figure as she moved to the music. She was so…colorful. Gabrielle had always been subdued, tasteful. This woman was bright, like a tropical bird, in a purple leotard and pink leggings, her hair pulled into a high ponytail.
Six months ago, he’d fully expected to marry Gabrielle; she’d been everything he’d ever wanted…his fantasy bride. Then the night before the wedding, she’d vanished, leaving him a note, just two sentences which made no sense then or now.
“I can’t marry you. You don’t love me.”
Did she believe he’d been unfaithful, that there was someone else? But why?
Maybe he should have gone after her back then, but he’d wanted her—no needed her—to come back of her own accord. He didn’t make mistakes. He couldn’t have been so totally wrong about them. So he’d thrown himself into his work, every day expecting her to turn up and tell him she’d just needed time. But months had passed and nothing. It had taken a life and death situation to accept she wasn’t coming back to him. If he wanted to discover the truth, then he had to go out and hunt it down.
But he’d never expected to find this.
Watching her supple body dance in the fitted leotard that clung to the swell of her breasts, her narrow waist, the curve of her hips, his body reacted almost instantly, growing hot and hard.
They’d never made love. She’d always backed off, and he’d respected that, believing she wanted to wait for marriage. He wouldn’t have held it against her if she hadn’t been a virgin, but all the same, he’d liked the fact that he would be her first. It had evoked some primordial feeling inside him.
It also meant he hadn’t slept with a woman since he first caught sight of her all those months ago. Now, he couldn’t take his eyes from her. As he watched, she turned around, bent over from the waist, her ass facing him. She glanced over her shoulder, and he almost exploded.
This was unexpected. He’d always wanted her, but never with the urgency that now coursed through his body.
He sat unmoving for maybe an hour, thoughts churning in his mind.
If he confronted her now, would she tell him why she’d doubted his love? Would she have an explanation as to why she’d vanished without a trace, changed her cell phone, left her old address?
He’d been aware he’d rushed her, but he’d wanted to make her his, to prove his commitment—a commitment he’d never been able to give to any woman before. Had he come on too strong and frightened her away?
Something churned in his gut.
Fear?
Finally, the music stopped, and the dancers left the stage. He watched until she disappeared from sight, then rose to his feet.
Time to get some answers.

At least she’d managed to get through the routine without another slip-up.
A prickle ran down her spine as she headed for the changing room. Gabby made sure she was in the middle of the group. She was shorter than most of the dancers and hidden from view. But it also meant she couldn’t see much of what was around her.
Not that she wanted to see. She kept her eyes on the ground, but her heart was hammering.
Why was he here?
Why now? Six months had passed. If he was going to come after her, why hadn’t he come before? She’d presumed she was safe, and it was over—an episode in her life that she was totally ashamed of. But at the time she’d felt she had no choice. Hell, she had had no choice. She’d needed the money. Besides, when Luciano Scarlesi had put the proposition to her, it hadn’t sounded like such a bad thing. She was doing something for the family.
Her dad had married Luca’s aunt, Maria Scarlesi, when Gabby was seven. Consequently, she’d grown up on the edges of the sprawling Scarlesi family, and she knew all about Sicilian family vendettas and how the wicked D’Ascensio family had ruined the Scarlesis and driven them out of Sicily. Now she had a chance to help them right an old wrong.
And she’d wanted to help. She’d never really felt like she belonged. Hell, she didn’t even look the part, a blonde and blue-eyed alien surrounded by a sea of black hair and dark eyes. This was her chance to do something, to prove she really was part of the family.
“Did you see that total hottie?” Sally asked, fanning her face, as the door to the dressing room shut behind them.
With the words, the last hope that she’d somehow conjured up his image, drained away. “Total hottie” just about summed Vito up. He was all long, lean muscles wrapped in golden skin. The body of a Greek god and the face of an Adonis. She’d known she was in trouble from the moment she’d first seen him; he’d been way more charismatic in real life than the photos Luca had shown her. She’d only kept her hands off him because of guilt and the ability to completely submerge herself in her role.
She was a good girl.
Hah.
A good actress, maybe.
She’d always had a thing for Mediterranean men. After all, Luca had been her first crush, but perhaps best not to go there. “Best not go there” seemed to be the recurring theme with her love life.
But it looked like she wasn’t going to have a choice in the matter. She was going there whether she liked it or not.
She kicked off her shoes and sank down onto the stool in front of the mirror that ran along one wall of the changing rooms, but she didn’t even see her reflection. Maybe if she sat here long enough, he would lose interest and go away. The chatter of the other girls washed over her. Her mind was numb; she had no clue what to do. What to say to him. Obviously, the truth wasn’t an option. But she was done with lying.
Maybe she could fake a case of bronchitis and pretend she’d lost her voice—except he’d no doubt seen and heard her sing on the stage.
Amnesia?
She liked that one.
The room slowly emptied out, and still she didn’t move. Finally, the door clicked shut behind the last of her workmates, and she shifted on the stool. She couldn’t stay here forever.
Or could she? They’d find her mummified corpse years from now… Maybe not.
She glanced around—there was no other exit, not even a window to jump out of, and the only other door led to a bathroom. A rack with the costumes stood along the wall opposite. A disguise perhaps. Or a hiding place.
Wimp.
She was being pathetic.
Just get it over with.
But put some clothes on first.
She definitely didn’t want to face her ex-fiancé in nothing but a leotard, tights, and legwarmers. She stood up and reached for her sweats as the door handle turned…and the world stopped.
Oh, hell. Too late.

He’d been loitering outside for half an hour, like some lovesick admirer, as one by one, the other women had exited what he presumed was the changing room.
But no Gabrielle.
She was in there. He was sure. She couldn’t have gotten past him and left the building.
The door opened, and his breath caught in his throat…then released on a sigh as yet another stranger appeared. She glanced at him curiously, and he stepped forward.
“I’m looking for Gabrielle Harper,” he said.
She gave a little pout but then nodded back toward the dressing room. “Gabby? She’s in there.”
He stared at the door as if willing it to open. What would she say?
When nothing happened and another five minutes passed, he took a deep breath and stepped toward the door. He almost expected it to be locked but the handle turned, and he pushed it open.
It led into a long, narrow room, but his surroundings faded because there she was.
She stood only a few feet away, a startled expression in her wide blue eyes. He pushed the door open further and stepped into the room, enveloped instantly in a wave of feminine perfumes. She took a step back.
He released the door, and it swung shut behind him, the click loud in the silence.
She stared at him for long moments. He stared back. She was the same but completely different. She’d always worn her hair in a tidy blond bob, cut off neat at the shoulders. Now it was pulled into a high messy pony tail and the blond was mixed with bright magenta streaks. Her face was free of makeup, where before she’d always worn a small amount, subtle and understated. Now her skin was clear, her lips dark pink, pouty. His eyes skimmed over her face and then back—she had a diamond stud in her nose, and he started in shock.
It occurred to him that he would never have looked twice at this woman. She reminded him too much of his students, young and edgy and off-limits. It was one of his unspoken rules—never get involved with anyone at his work, and certainly not a student.
But Gabrielle wasn’t a student, and she was twenty-four—five years younger than him. At least, that’s what she’d told him, though now he was beginning to question everything.
He’d always thought her classically beautiful. Now she looked…sexy. Her heart-shaped face had a dimple in the chin. Her nose was small, her cheekbones high, and her eyes huge and midnight blue.
He cleared his throat and dropped his gaze.
Merda.
She still wore the purple leotard, and it was skin-tight and clinging to her curves. Cristo, he could see her nipples pressed against the soft material, and the blood drained to his groin. Her breasts were small but rounded. He was pretty sure she was naked beneath the thin material and saliva flooded his mouth.
She still hadn’t spoken, just stood there staring back at him, her gaze fixed on his face. Then she took a step toward him. Her hand reached out, and she stroked a finger down over his cheekbone.
Of course, the scar. That was new.
“What happened?” she murmured and even her voice had a sexy edge, low and husky. He’d always thought she had a beautiful voice but never considered it sexy. Maybe this wasn’t Gabrielle. A twin sister? With the same name? Unlikely.
“Vito?”
He shook his head. What had she said?
Her finger caressed the curve of his cheek. The scar? That was it. He cleared his throat. “An accident. On a cruise ship. I was hit by a burning cable.”
“Ouch.”
He shrugged. “It could have been worse.”
Her hand dropped to her side, and she studied him, her head cocked. While she wasn’t short for a woman, she only came to his shoulder, and this close, looking down, he could see the swell of her breasts above the tight material. He tried to focus on her face.
“It suits you,” she said after a minute. “You were too perfect before.”
If he was so goddamn perfect, why had she run? The first flickers of anger licked along his nerves. She’d clearly moved on with her life—a completely different life than he had imagined.
“Why?” he asked, and the word came out as a growl, harsher than he’d intended.
She took a step back, her eyes widening. He’d never spoken to her in anger. He always kept his temper in check. Anger never achieved anything, but now he could feel it churning in his gut, rising up, unfamiliar, and tipping him further off balance.
She looked away, licked her lips with a small pointed tongue and heat flared up, mingling with the rage. Her gaze returned to his face, and she focused on his lips.
“Gabrielle?”
“I think I need to kiss you.”
At first, the words made no sense. They were certainly not what he expected, but then nothing about this encounter was like anything he’d imagined. And he could think of absolutely nothing to say. Then she took a step toward him, and his mind slid into chaos. He tried one last time. “We should talk—”
She stopped him with a finger to his lips. “Later. Kiss me first, and then we’ll talk.”
This close he could breathe in her warm scent—sweat mingled with a sharp, citrusy perfume, as unfamiliar as the rest of her. She’d worn Chanel when he’d known her before. Her hands rose to rest on his shoulders, and she came up on tiptoe.
He should move, back away. He’d come here to talk, to find out what had gone wrong between them. Persuade her to come back and give him another chance.
Time seemed to slow. They’d kissed plenty in the month he’d known her, but always in control. Now his heart raced, his blood thundered in his veins, and he had an inkling his control could snap at any moment.
Move.
But he couldn’t do it. He was physically incapable of shifting his feet. He was stuck in place as her hands slid from his shoulders to sink into the hair at the back of his neck. A shiver ran through him as her fingers glided across his skull then exerted a slight pressure to lower his head.
Her eyes were half-closed, her lips slightly parted. Her tongue swiped across her plump lower lip, and every muscle in his body clenched up tight. His hands were hanging by his side, now they moved of their own accord with no direction from his brain. They settled on the deep indent of her waist, urging her closer.
He’d let her have her one kiss, and afterward they’d talk.
Then her lips touched his and all rational thought fled.

When fantasy and reality collide…

There’s nothing like a near death experience to make a guy reassess his life. And that’s exactly what nightclub owner Logan McCabe decides to do, starting with looking up the girl he spent one wild night with eleven years ago, right before his life turned to crap. He spent a year fantasizing about her. Now he’s ready to see how reality matches up.

Abigail Parker is a perfectionist. She’s only strayed from the straight and narrow once in her life, on her eighteenth birthday. It was supposed to be one wild night with a totally unsuitable man before she settled into her sensible future. Instead it changed her life forever.

Logan might still be the sexiest man Abigail has ever seen, but a dirty-talking, tattooed, ex-con is the last thing she needs in her perfect life. He claims she’s his fantasy girl, but what he doesn’t know is she’s also the mother of his ten-year old daughter.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: HIS FANTASY GIRL is the first installment in Nina Croft’s THINGS TO DO BEFORE YOU DIE contemporary, adult, erotic, romance series focusing on three friends-Vito, Josh and Logan. Six weeks earlier, a cruise ship fire left the three friends struggling to survive; each made a commitment to go after the one that got away. This is security nightclub owner Logan McCabe, and Abigail Parker’s story line.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Logan and Abigail) HIS FANTASY GIRL is a second chance, of sorts, for two people whose lives changed forever following a one-night stand. Fast forward eleven years, when Logan comes face to face with the woman who has starred in all of his fantasies but a woman who barely acknowledges their one night together. Logan disappeared following their night of passion, and in the ensuing time Abigail’s life had to be put on hold.

Abigail is a single mother, to Logan’s ten year old daughter, and a woman determined to keep her distance until her daughter begins to ask questions about the man she has never met. Enter Logan McCabe, who wants to rekindle his relationship with Abigail Parker, but Abigail knows that to begin something with Logan could be the downfall of her future plans.

HIS FANTASY GIRL reveals a little bit of the history between Abigail and Logan –their introduction and one night stand but reveals very little about the ensuing years. Logan spent one year in prison following an assault on a police officer, but the information is limited as to the who, what and why. The background about the cruise ship fire is also limited although we know that the three friends have sworn to do something about their one big regret while floating out to sea, waiting to be rescued.

The rekindling of the relationship is immediate. Logan is a man who goes after what he wants, and he wants Abigail Parker. Now that she has revealed the existence of their daughter, Logan is more than determined to keep Abigail in his life. The $ex scenes are intimate, intense and erotic. The world building focuses on Logan’s relationship with Abigail and his daughter; as well as his heated romance with the woman who continues to star in his real-life fantasies.

HIS FANTASY GIRL is a story about heartbreak and loss; the emotional journey about two people whose lives went in different directions; and about first impressions, judgmental attitudes, and a double standard in the work place. The premise is enjoyable; the characters are fated; the romance is sexy and energetic. Abigail has no problems starting back up where it all began.

REVIEW: HER FANTASY HUSBAND is the second installment in Nina Croft’s adult, contemporary THINGS TO DO BEFORE YOU DIE erotic, romance series focusing on three friends-Vito, Josh, and Logan. Six weeks earlier, a cruise ship fire left the three friends struggling to survive; each made a commitment to go after the one that got away. This is security expert Josh Slater, and heiress Alexia Slater’s story line. Some of the events run parallel with books one and three.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Josh and Alexia) HER FANTASY HUSBAND follows the marriage of convenience between Josh and Alexia. Five years earlier Alexia married Josh Slater to gain control of her inheritance but she hasn’t seen the man in question for as many years….but Josh has returned looking for an annulment, and Alexia is in no position to grant him what it is he wants. Our heroine needs five more months to protect the inheritance from the family she no longer trusts, but Josh is a man determined to get on with his life. What ensues is the building of a relationship between two people whose lives have been connected for a number of years.

The relationship between Josh and Lexi is one of convenience but our heroine needs Josh to act the part of her adoring husband when ‘Grandmamma ‘ comes sniffing around. Lexi is a woman who has kept her vow to her husband, and with it comes the realization that falling in love with Josh may be the biggest mistake of her life. The $ex scenes are intimate; Lexi is an innocent and Josh has waited five years to make love to his wife.

We are re-introduced to Josh’s friends and co-victims of the cruise ship disaster- billionaire Vito (Vittorio) D’Ascensio, and night club owner Logan McCabe. Each of their story lines will run parallel to the other. Lexi’s life is filled with ‘foundling’ animals, lost and homeless people, and an extended family that sees Lexi as their ticket for ‘more’.

HER FANTASY HUSBAND is an imaginative tale; an enjoyable story line about two people whose lives are thrown together by circumstance and money. I had hoped the author would have revealed more information about the cruise ship disaster; as well as the introduction between Lexi and Josh. The premise is entertaining; the characters are spirited if not a little big awkward with one another; the romance is a second chance at a happily ever after-this time –for real !

••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: BLOOD AND METAL is the fifth installment in Nina Croft’s adult Blood Hunter/Dark Desires sci-fi, paranormal romance series focusing on the crew of the space ship Blood Hunter. This is co-pilot of the Blood Hunter and newly-made vampire Daisy, and part human/part cyborg Fergal Cain’s storyline. BLOOD AND METAL can be read as a stand alone without too much difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for cohesion, history and backstory. Each installment builds upon the previous storyline(s) resulting in the continuing voyage of the Blood Hunter and her crew.

Some background: 1000 years after Earth’s demise, the ruling Collective, and the self-proclaimed Church of Everlasting Life play a major role in the control of space. The Collective control the rights to the rare radioactive element known as Meridian-that will bestow immortality on those who can afford the price. The Church is in the business of exterminating the genetically modified beings-considering them abominations and a sin against God. These two ruling factions are currently at war with one another and will destroy anyone that gets in their way.

Told from third person point of view BLOOD AND METAL focuses on revenge. The crew of the Blood Hunter is hoping to take down the Church of Everlasting Life including its’ current leader Temperance Hatcher-a man whose hatred of everything genetically modified has resulted in the death of several members of the Blood Hunter crew. But a mission to rescue their missing crewmates, Jon and Alex (Deadly Pursuit 2) who are currently ‘prisoners’ of the COEL, finds Daisy rescuing the man with whom she had had a relationship-months before.

Fergal is a man on a mission and needs to find an antidote to prevent the poison coursing through his system, from destroying what’s left of his sanity and his mind. But getting to the planet means finding a suitable spaceship for his travels, and the arrival of Daisy and the Blood Hunter is perfect timing. While Daisy struggles with her new found vampirism, Fergal battles with the secrets and truth he keeps hidden from the Daisy and the crew.

All of the previous storyline couples play a secondary and supporting role throughout the story. We are introduced to Stefan Wolfe-Fergal’s friend who may or may not be aligned with the Church of Everlasting Life. Wolfe is a scientist who specializes in cybernetics, and it is Wolfe’s experiments that have resulted in Fergal’s ever changing DNA and cyborg implants.

Dark Desires is a series that crosses fantasy with paranormal with science fiction resulting in many supernatural species including vampires, werewolves, dragons, and an assortment of immortals who are hybrids of inter-species breeding and genetically modified DNA.

The relationship between Fergal and Daisy began in a previous storyline wherein our couple began a relationship that barely got off the ground. Daisy’s ‘rescue’ of Fergal, whether it be six months or 20 years later, depending upon which side of the wormhole our characters currently reside, finds that our couple has not lost their sexual attraction to one another-although Daisy is no longer the same woman that Fergal left behind.

As per my previous reviews, there is a distinct Star Trek™ themed premise and trope throughout the series, and none more so than the ‘Borg-style’ army and its’ epi-center of control. The concepts of futuristic technology, intergalactic species, cybernetic organisms, and space travel are reflected in all of Nina Croft’s BLOOD HUNTER installments. The further the series travel, the more familiar are many of the storyline concepts to fans and followers of the Star Trek franchise.

BLOOD AND METAL is an entertaining and fast paced storyline; an intergalactic journey through space and time where religion and politics continue to battle for the ultimate control of man and the universe. Nina Croft’s BLOOD HUNTER series is the perfect blend of sci-fi, fantasy and paranormal all wrapped around a story of romance and falling in love.

REVIEW: TEMPORAL SHIFT is the fourth installment in Nina Croft’s adult, paranormal, sci-fi DARK DESIRES (Blood Hunter) fantasy, romance series focusing on the crew of the space cruiser-The El Cazador (now known as the Blood Hunter 2). This is GM (genetically modified) engineer and leader of the Resistance Devlin Stark and Saffira Lourdes’s storyline. Although it is the fourth in the series, it can be read as a stand alone but for cohesion and backstory, I recommend reading the series in order.

Told from third person point of view TEMPORAL SHIFT finds the crew of the Blood Hunter on the other side of a black hole. Hoping to locate the planet from which the element ‘Meridian’ originated, the crew will travel to an unknown planet where they will meet beings similar to what Callum Meridian (leader of the universe) and the Collective have become. What they did not expect to find is a humanoid female who claims Devlin is her lover and asks the impossible from the ship and her crew. Saffira Lourdes has been chosen as ‘the one’ to save her species and possibly that of old Earth but to do so, Saffira must travel back in time before Earth’s demise.

The relationship between Saffira and Devlin is fraught with anger, betrayal and mistrust. Saffira continues to lie to the crew of the Blood Hunter, about what it is she must do. Saffira has seen the future and the future claims that Devlin is her mate. Devlin wants nothing to do with Saffira, especially after she has placed the crew in danger time and again, but Devlin’s body wants something more.

The world building continues as the Blood Hunter space ship shuttles between black holes, unknown planets, wormholes and deep space. The secondary characters include the crew of the Blood Hunter, most of the previous storyline couples: Tannis and Meridian: Rico and Skylar; as well as Captain William ‘Thorne’ Thornton-a man who has vowed to protect Saffira with his life. The time line covers thousands of years through the black holes and wormholes, yet only days to months will have passed in current time. Saffira will travel back hundreds of years only to come face to face with the man that she will love over fifteen hundred years later.

Nina Croft’s DARK DESIRES (Blood Hunter) series is an addicting and remarkable journey into the unknown travelling through time and space; through black holes and into alternate universes. There are moments of passion, seduction, romance and pain coupled with the intensity of a crew whose lives are constantly in danger but will never leave a crew member stranded or alone. Nina Croft will captivate your senses, your imagination and your need for romance and the paranormal.

Death DefyingPart snake, part human, and—some would say all bitch—Captain Tannis of the starship El Cazador has one goal in life—to earn enough credits to pay for the Meridian treatment to achieve the immortality she craves. And one last job will get her there. The assignment: protecting the most powerful man in the Universe.

Being leader of the known universe isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. In fact, it sucks big time. And after five hundred years, Callum Meridian, founding member of the Collective, is bored out of his mind. But as things are changing, he’s changing—into what, though, he isn’t sure. Callum is determined to discover the truth, and he’s employed the crew of El Cazador to help him do it.

Not everyone agrees with his plan, though. His own people will stop at nothing to prevent the truth coming out, the Church is taking advantage of the confusion and attempting a coup, and even the crew of El Cazador seem close to tossing him out the airlock without a space suit. But defying death has never been more dangerous, sexier, or more fun.

Interview yellow:black

TRC: Hi Nina and welcome to The Reading Café. Congratulations on the release of TEMPORAL SHIFT, the latest instalment in your DARK DESIRES (Blood Hunter) series.

We would like to start with some background information. Would you please tell us something about yourself?

Follow: Goodreads / Website Facebook / Twitter

Nicola CleasbyNina: I originally come from the north of England – a spectacularly beautiful area known as the Lake District. But from the age of eighteen I found myself drifting south in search of the sun. After living in a lot of different places and travelling extensively, I’ve now settled in the mountains of southern Spain on an almond farm with my husband and a whole load of animals. Here I spend my time soaking up the sun, drinking wine, writing romance and travelling vicariously through my characters.

TRC: Who or what influenced your career in writing?

Nina: Growing up, I had three older sisters, whose books I would pinch, and they all had very different tastes in literature. And then there was my mother, who would devour vast amounts of Mills and Boons romances. So I ended up reading just about everything. Romance, fantasy, sci-fi, historical. And—because I’m a strong believer that you should write the sort of things you love to read—I’ve ended up writing just about everything as well. I love mixing up genres.

TRC: When not writing, what do you do to relax?

Nina: Reading. Swimming in the summer. Also, I have a horse and ride most days, and three dogs, so I walk a lot. I like to drink wine and I live in a very beautiful part of the world so I spend a lot of time lying under fig trees with a book and a bottle, admiring the view.

Temporal ShiftTRC: TEMPORAL SHIFT is the November 2014 release (and book four) in your DARK DESIRES (Blood Hunter) series. Would you please tell us something about the premise of the series? And the latest book?

Nina: The series follows the adventures, romantic and otherwise, of the crew of the space ship, the Blood Hunter.

The year is 3048, Earth is no longer habitable, and man has fled to the stars where they’ve discovered the secret of immortality—Meridian. Unfortunately, Meridian is exorbitantly expensive and only available to a select few. A new class comprised of the super-rich and immortal soon evolved. The Collective, as they’re called, rule the universe.

But as with any civilization, there are some people who just don’t want to be ruled. And that’s definitely the case with the crew of the Blood Hunter. A motley bunch of space pirates, the crew includes a vampire, a werewolf, genetically modified beings, and really anything else I can come up with.

Dark Desires is the series where I allow myself to do anything and go anywhere—my imagination is the only limit and that’s certainly the case with Book 4, Temporal Shift. Temporal Shift contains just about my favourite sci-fi trope—time travel—and tells the story of Devlin and Saffira and a love that survives the vast distances of time and space. Time travel is complicated…it’s fair to say that my head nearly exploded numerous times while plotting the book—I sort of hope it has the same effect on my readers.

TRC: Is there a reason the series name has been changed? Different sites show different series names e.g. DARK DESIRES or BLOOD HUNTER.

Nina: It was purely a decision of St. Martin’s Press, the publishers who recently re-released the books in mass market paperback format. They made some very pretty new covers and felt that the series needed a title that more strongly suggested romance.

Dark Desires Series

TRC: If you could virtually cast the leading characters of the series, which models or actors would be represent your ideal image?

Nina: Hmm – I always find this really hard, but I think a red-headed Scarlett Johansson for Saffira and maybe Hugh Jackman (think wolverine…) as Devlin.

TRC: How many books do you have planned for the series?

Nina: There are six books planned for the series. Book five, Blood and Metal, is written, book six, Flying Through Fire, I’m struggling with right now. Maybe I just don’t want to bring it all to an end.

TRC: Who or what was the influence behind the premise of the Dark Desires series?

Nina: I’d finished watching Firefly (maybe my favourite TV series ever) for the third time and I really wanted to write a space opera. But then I started thinking about my characters and Rico my pilot suddenly morphed into a vampire. And I thought why not? If people escaped the destruction of Earth, why wouldn’t vampires (and maybe a whole load of other things as well?)

TRC: What challenges or difficulties (research, logistics, background, scientific) did you encounter writing this particular story and series?

Nina: This is actually one of the easiest series to write because I literally make it all up. That’s the fun of writing speculative fiction. I can write anything I want as long as I can make people suspend disbelief just long enough to enjoy the books.

Actually though, for Temporal Shift, I did quite a lot of research on time travel and black holes and quantum mechanics (did I mention my head exploding?)

TRC: How do you keep the plot unpredictable without sacrificing content and believability?

Nina: I think the important thing is to foreshadow, very subtly, throughout the story. So when something pretty wild happens (which it does quite often in this series) it’s been set up and instead of people saying – no way! They’ll say – hmm, of course.
That’s the theory anyway.

TRC: What are your thoughts on writing a series and ending an instalment with a major cliff hanger?

Nina: I think there are situations where cliff-hangers work, though personally I find them really aggravating when I’m reading, especially if the next book in the series isn’t out yet! But I write romance, so while there’s an overlying series storyline, each individual book is complete and standalone, following the romance of one couple and coming to a happy-ever-after ending.

TRC: When writing a storyline, do the characters direct the writing or do you direct the characters?

Nina: I’m a total plotter, so I tend to spend a lot of time getting to know my characters before I start to write. While I’m plotting, I’ll allow them some leeway and we’ll go off at tangents and do unexpected things, but that’s fun and necessary. I’ll only start to write the actual story once I understand them; their goals and fears and motivations. And at that point they’d better not try and do something that’s out of character.

TRC: The mark of a good writer is to pull the reader into the storyline so that they experience the emotions along with the characters. What do you believe a writer must do to make this happen? Where do you believe writer’s fail in this endeavor?

Nina: I think they need to make the reader care about their characters. They don’t necessarily have to like them (and I’m very fond of a lot of characters who aren’t particularly nice) but they have to care. I think one of the strongest ways to get people to care is to make the character want something…desperately. Give them a good reason for wanting it and then make it obvious that they’re not going to get it. So probably, where writers fail, is that their characters don’t care enough—so why should the reader?

TRC: Writer’s Block is a very real phenomenon. How do you handle the pressures and anxiety of writer’s block?

Nina: I tend to try and just push through it. I do my best writing, and I’m happiest, when I give myself a daily word count (right now 3000 words per day) and stick to it, even if I’m convinced what I’m writing is rubbish. I think accepting that the first draft you write is not going to be perfect can be very liberating.

TRC: Many authors bounce ideas and information with other authors or friends and family. With whom do you bounce ideas?

Nina: My poor husband gets to listen to a lot of my plot problems. So does my horse. Neither are particularly good at solving them. But I’m in a couple of fabulous online writing groups and I can go there if I get really stuck on anything or just want some brainstorming help.

TRC: What three things would you like to accomplish in the next five years?

Nina: Write lots, and be healthy and happy.

TRC: What is something that few, if any people, know about you?

Nina: I have a three legged Vietnamese pot-bellied house pig, called Piggles.

The Telepath ChroniclesTRC: On what are you currently working?

Nina: I recently wrote a short story, No More Lies, for a sci-fi anthology, The Telepath Chronicles (which released this month!) I so enjoyed the world and it had so much potential, that I’m basing a series on it and am currently writing book 1. I don’t have a title yet (hopefully it will come to me) but it’s sort of contemporary/sci-fi/romance about a rogue covert operations group of telepaths and their search to discover their origins (and it’s going to contain all my favourite sci-fi themes!)

TRC: Would you like to add anything else?

Nina: Just that I’ve had great fun writing the Dark Desires series and hope people have as much fun reading the books.
