ABOUT THE BOOK: Re-Release Date June 21, 2016

A man of darkness, a man of passion, trapped by temptation and desire. It’s an inviting, achingly pleasurable alchemy no woman can refuse . . .

In the battle between good and evil, Kayla Ward knows vampires are strictly off limits. As a Watcher she is sworn to protect humankind from the nightwalkers. But a series of murders–the victims all women–leaves Kayla with only one choice: to join forces with the dark side. It isn’t her fault that Ethan’s seductive allure triggers every zone of pleasure in her body .

••••••••••••

REVIEW: NIGHT SINS by Lisa Renee Jones is a stand alone, paranormal erotic romance novella. This is vampire Ethan, and Watcher Kayla Ward’s story line.

Told from several third person points of view NIGHT SINS focuses on a series of murders committed by a group of rogue vampires known as the Blood Brothers. Kayla is a watcher; a protector who has been assigned to Las Vegas, where the murders are taking place, leading her to the sexy and powerful vampire Ethan- a man with close ties to all of the female victims. What ensues is the search for the people responsible before the next murder.

NIGHT SINS is a quick and sexy read; approximately twenty four hours in the life wherein our leading couple uncover the who and why behind the recent string of events. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative; the premise is intriguing and suspenseful; the romance is a quick build to a happily ever after- for now. Here’s hoping Kayla and Ethan’s story continues. If you love paranormal romances, give NIGHT SINS a try.

I will add that both of today’s story lines (Amber Fire and Night Sins) have similar premises with equally similar romance/mating/hidden DNA plot points, and there is a familiarity to the jaguar story line that I have read before.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Re-Release Date June 7, 2016

Broad and all-powerful, a man who knows how to thrive in the wild–and bring to the edge of ecstasy the woman he claims as his own . . .

Determined to defend her late father’s work, Amber Green heads into the heat of the Nevada canyons to prove the existence of the Yaguara, a shape-shifting race of jaguars. There she meets the one man more hell-bent on protecting the jaguars than she is: Jareth, a force of raw male nature to be reckoned with–an animal worth pursuing

••••••••

REVIEW: AMBER FIRE by Lisa Renee Jones is a contemporary, adult, erotic, paranormal romance novella focusing on a group of jaguar shifters known as the Yaguara. This is jaguar shifter Jareth, and archeologist Amber Green’s story line.

Told from dual third person points of view (Amber and Jareth) AMBER FIRE follows the search for the mythical creature known as the Yaguara-a shape shifter feline once known to inhabit the Nevada Canyons. Amber is a woman who is currently heading up the archeological dig, following the death of her father, and to her surprise she will discover that the man with whom she is falling in love, is the very ‘ creature’ she is hoping to discover. What ensues is a quick build up ( 24 hours at most) of a relationship between Amber and Jareth, and the hunt for our couple by the people she once trusted the most.

AMBER FIRE is a quick read; a sexy story about discrimination and betrayal; murder and revenge; falling in love and letting go of the past. The character development is limited due to the nature of the novella length-let’s hope Lisa Renee Jones will extend our couple’s story line in a future installment. The premise is imaginative; the characters are magical; the romance is fast and furious.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 9, 2016

For Charley Winters love means loss and pain. She’s spent the last five years struggling with her grief. Existing, not living. Drawn to Saskatchewan, she travels west take the job she’s always wanted. But life gets complicated when she’s rescued from a vicious tornado by her dead husband’s double, a man who makes her feel things she hasn’t in years. Add to that a native myth, a shaman, a green-eyed wolf, and her husband’s ghost … Can she lift a millennia old curse and find joy and love again?

•••••••••

REVIEW:  Hello Again is a new novel by Susanne Matthews. This is a paranormal tale with romance at its heart and soul. From the cover to the last page…this is a must read if you love myths come to life and adventure.

I have to admit the beginning and several parts of this wonderful story had my heart breaking. It also had me laughing, wanting to shout, confused about what spirits were doing. I was thoroughly entertained the entire way through.

I was intrigued right from the “A Message from the Author” all the way through the book. This is a page turner and I just couldn’t put it down. So much great information about the differences in names of “bands” of aboriginal Indians to the sad facts that many of their women go missing every year. This story touched and sometimes broke my heart, but built it back up.

How do I tell you how great it is without giving away the discoveries? It’s based on a Souix myth of a maiden who was married to a cruel medicine man. She ran away and wandered the prairies praying for the Great Spirit to take her away. He sent her a man to rescue her, not a man exactly. A shapeshifter with unique coloring (red hair and deep green eyes), he was the Chief of the Wolves. They fell in love, long story short…(read the author’s version – it’s great) her evil husband cursed them and their children (twins – a boy and a girl), and the curse is still going on.

Charlotte “Charley” Winters is married to Mike Winters and deeply in love. He’s a mechanic and so is she (she’s also a teacher). He did a tour in Afghanistan and has returned. They’re expecting a baby and are wonderfully happy. He and a few friends are going on a fund raising ride on their motorcycles to raise money for cancer research. Charley has a bad feeling about this ride…and she misses her father who recently died.

The heartbreak is that Mike dies in the ride…sort of…I said it’s difficult to explain! And Charley loses the baby…or babies as it turns out to be. She still hears Mike talk to her and her father as well. After a lot of grief, heartrending depression Charley heads out west to Saskatchewan and a new job…a dream Mike and she once had.

This trip is where she meets our new hero Sergeant Bill Murdock of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (who happens to look like Mike and has the same deep green eyes). It’s also where we meet the very interesting elderly medicine woman Shirley Smoke, not to mention a cast of animal spirits.

That’s the setup I’m giving out. I don’t want to give away any of this marvelous story. You simply have to read this for yourself. It’s fantastic, interesting and very talentedly written. How our author Susanne Matthews weaves these characters together into an incredibly exciting yet believable tale shows how much love of writing and talent she has.

So grab a big box of tissues, something to munch on besides your fingernails, a good sized glass of your favorite beverage and settle down for an exciting ride! I loved this one folks!

Wolver’s Reward (The Wolvers #7) by Jacqueline Rhoades-a review

Wolver's Reward

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 17, 2016

Fate has played River for a fool. Again. He thought he’d earned the respect of a decent and admirable wolver pack. He was grateful for it. He was content…until they took it all away, and left him alone and angry. Again.

Yet Fate rewards him with another pack, one that needs his survival skills, and one where he meets the girl of his dreams, but River is no longer a fool. The beautiful Rebecca is an Alpha’s daughter. She can never be his and she knows it, too. But knowing the outcome, changes the game, and both River and Reb decide to play this one on their own, but different, terms.

What Fate knows, and River must learn, is that happiness comes when you least expect it, and finding a love worth fighting for is what brings a Wolver’s Reward.

••••••••••

REVIEW: Wolver’s Reward is Book Seven of the Wolver Series by Jacqueline Rhoades. In this book we revisit a previous character found as a cub/boy in The Alpha’s Choice, his name is River. He was a young male that had been raised by his rogue family, but had escaped with several children that he took care of. They were found by Alpha Charles Goodman and taken into the Wolf’s Head pack.

This story is years later, River has grown into a young man and doesn’t realize he’s meant to be an Alpha someday…spurring Charles and Kat to try to get him to work with or for the mysterious Mr. Begley to help him find his place in the Wolver world. Insulted, and thinking he’s unwanted and being kicked out – AGAIN—he packs his things and takes off.

While he still thinks of himself as a “bad” guy, because of all the things he was made to do as a child, he’s actually a very honorable and wonderful young man. This is a journey of self-discovery and putting his past into the past, while deciding about his future. On the road, he stops to help a young lady in trouble and gets hit over the head and his stuff stolen for all his trouble…and decides to get his stuff back.
This is an emotional story of growing into full adulthood, while fending off danger and righting a few wrongs. The characters are vivid and real, the circumstances interesting and thought provoking.

This story as all the Wolver series books, is well written with compassion, humor, adventure and a nice mixture of danger and fun. Author Rhoades takes us on another journey into the lives and hearts of two people made for each other; while letting us enjoy the complicated ride all the way.

If you haven’t read this series, why not? If you like shifter novels, this is a compelling and different slant on the species. Each book can stand alone, but like most series, you get a better understanding of the overall world and stories if you begin at the beginning.

(1)Alpha’s Mate (2) Alpha’s Choice (3) Alpha’s Daughter and a Christmas novella Rabbit’s Creek Santa are the first part of the series. Wolver’s Gold, Wolver’s Rescue, and Wolver’s Reward are the second leg of this wonderful series.

Length: NOVELLA

••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: ENEMY MINE is the latest re-release of a previously published novella by Katie Reus that focuses on two hundred year old vampire Kiernan Doyle, and wolf shifter/ Veterinarian Melina Rodriguez. Their second chance romance follows a Romeo and Juliet tale of warring families and bitter regret.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Melina and Kiernan) ENEMY MINE follows the rekindling relationship between Melina and Kiernan, and the subsequent attacks against Melina by an unknown shifter pack. Kiernan and Melina spent one hot and steamy night together, one year earlier, and neither has forgotten about that fateful night. Fast forward to present day wherein Kiernan wants to claim Melina as his mate, but must first get past her family, both family’s betrayals, and the truth about what happened years before. But before Kiernan is able to claim Melina as his own, he and his brother Ronan must uncover the identity of the shifters behind a plot to kidnap and use Melina for themselves.

The relationship between Melina and Kiernan is one of second chances, immediate attraction and forbidden romance. Melina is a veterinarian with a special ability that she keeps secreted from others; Kiernan is a vampire who is able to control one of the deadly elements-together their families are sworn enemies but it will take the love between Melina and Kiernan to show that acceptance and forgiveness for the sins of the past, can be easily overcome. The limited $ex scenes are intimate and intense.

ENEMY MINE is a fast paced, sexy and enjoyable read that looks at two supernatural beings who are able to overcome the bitter heartbreak, and dark secrets of the past; two families at war with one another for close to one hundred years but brought together by the youngest generation for reasons of love and moving forward. The premise is entertaining and engaging; the characters are loveable, heartbreaking and passionate; the romance is quick build to a happily ever after. Katie Reus continues to draw me into her world of fantasy and the supernatural.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 15, 2016

Wolf shifter and Firewalker Phoenix “Nix” Monroe has finally met his ultimate Bondmate—Alpha Pack nurse Noah Brooks. Unable to accept his own sexual identity, Nix rejects Noah despite the intense attraction he feels towards him.

By the time Nix realizes he has cast aside the love of his life, it may be too late to save Noah from a terrifying enemy.

•••••••••

NOTE: PHOENIX REBORN is a M/M story line with same sex situations.

REVIEW: PHOENIX REBORN is the latest novella in J.D. Tyler’s contemporary, adult ALPHA PACK paranormal, romance series focusing on a top secret team of shifters and other supernatural beings with Psy powers and special abilities. This is wolf shifter/Firewalker Phoenix ‘Nix’ Munroe, and Alpha Pack nurse Noah Brooks’s story line. PHOENIX REBORN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

Told from several third person perspectives PHOENIX REBORN focuses on the building relationship between nurse Noah Brooks, and his reluctant mate Nix Munroe. Nix knows that Noah-a human-is his mate but Nix is unwilling to acknowledge his attraction or the fact that he is gay. Nix was raised by a homophobic father, and in this, he has tried everything to prevent his attraction to the man who is his fated ‘bondmate’. But a threat from the past finds Noah in a precarious position, and Nix believing that fate has come full circle.

PHOENIX REBORN is a fast paced novella with a large ensemble cast of characters from the previous storyline in supporting and secondary roles. The world building focuses on the struggle for acceptance; family and love. The premise is simple without too much angst; the characters are engaging; the happily ever after is a slow build to forever. Because this is a novella, I found the story line lacking in sensuality and the build up of the relationship was too quick. The simplicity of the text seems discordant with the rest of the series-a unembellished tale that should have been more inviting.

If only the Wilding girl he’s tasked with keeping alive wasn’t so damn sexy… and completely off limits.

Nova Wilding’s father was assassinated, leaving her a gaming company to run, a new game to release, and a pack full of wolves who want her for a mate… including a beta who’s determined to have Nova and her company. Choosing someone outside the pack will tear it apart, but Nova can’t stop watching the hot shifter who’s keeping watch over her.

While Nova fights to keep her father’s business afloat, and Owen fights to keep her alive, the Wolf Hunter is playing a dangerous new game that might destroy them both.

••••••••••••••

REVIEW : WILD GAME is the first installment in Alisa Woods’s adult, contemporary WILDING PACK WOLVES paranormal romance series-a spin off from her River Pack Wolves Series. This is former soldier and shifter Owen Harding, and computer game developer /wolf shifter Nova Wilding’s story line. WILD GAME can be read as a stand alone with out any difficulty although it is recommended to read the River Pack Wolves Series first for some background and history into the characters and their stories. Some of the characters cross over between the two series.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Owen and Nova) WILD GAME focuses on the threats against Nova Wilding by the ‘Wolf Hunter’ who has chosen to destroy and out all of the shifters starting with the Wilding Wolf Pack using Nova’s latest release into the video gaming world. Enter Owen Harding- a former US soldier who months earlier found himself a prisoner of his own kind and used for experimental purposes to create a team of the world’s greatest super soldiers (River Wolves Series). What ensues is the hunt for the people responsible for the threats against Nova and her Pack, and the building but forbidden relationship between Nova and the man who guards her body and her heart.

The romance between Nova and Owen begins as a professional business arrangement. Owen is hired as Nova’s personal body guard, and his inner wolf is drawn to his latest assignment from the very start. When Nova is forced to pledge submission to another wolf in order to saver her company, Owen believes he has lost the woman he loves not only to another male but from the unknown possibility of what he now has become. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense. Owen is a bit of a ‘beast’ in the bedroom.

Many of the secondary and supporting characters have crossed over from Alisa Woods’s RIVER PACK WOLVES series. We are introduced to Owen’s competition and adversary, in the form of wolf shifter and alpha Brad Hoffman whose attempts to woo Nova are not necessarily with the purest of intents; and Wilding Pack wolf Noah Wilding whose own story continues in WILD LOVE (book #2).

WILD GAME is a fast paced, entertaining and suspense filled romantic story line. There are moments of heartbreak and betrayal; romance and love; intrigue and magic. The premise is addicting; the characters are inspiring; the romance is spirited and seductive. WILD GAME is an intoxicating look at the supernatural world of the shifters.

Because humans and shifters might get “Wild for a Night”… but they’re not supposed to fall in love.

WILD LOVE is a complete novel with HEA, the second in the Wilding Pack Wolves series. All stories are standalone, but for maximum reader enjoyment, they’re best read in order. Contains scorching hot shifters, alpha military heroes, and sexy female programmers. Only readers over 18 should dive into the dangerously hot world of the Wilding Pack Wolves.

•••••••••

REVIEW: WILD LOVE is the second installment in Alisa Woods’s contemporary WILDING PACK WOLVES paranormal, romance series. This is wolf shifter Noah Wilding, and human computer programmer Emily Jones’s story line. WILD LOVE can be read as a stand alone but for cohesion and back story I recommend reading the series in order.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Noah and Emily) WILD LOVE follows the investigation into that attack against shifters during WildLove hookups coordinated through the new Seattle Shifters Dating Agency. Emily Jones is a programmer for the new dating app WildLove, and one of their potential clients. Emily is a bit of a shifter fan; a woman who is determined to forget about her past and hook up with a shifter from the Seattle area. But a number of recent hookups through the new app have resulted in serious injuries and car bombs intent on taking down any and all shifters. Enter Noah Wilding, a US army soldier on leave, who places himself in harms way to take down the person(s) responsible for the attacks against the Seattle shifters.

Noah is a shifter with secrets from the war. Along with his fellow soldier Owen Harding (Wild Game) Noah was held in captivity in Afghanistan by Noah’s father who experimented upon his own son, and Noah’s comrades in the US army. Noah is no longer the same shifter he was born to be, but something more magical with power from an unknown source.

The relationship between Noah and Emily is one of insta-lust that quickly turns to fated mates. Although Emily is human, and Noah has been warned off of mating with a human female, our hero cannot deny the attraction and pull towards Emily Jones. The $ex scenes are erotic, romantic and seductive.

Several of the previous story line characters play secondary and supporting roles included Owen Harding and Nova Wilding, and several members of the River Pack Wolves who were first introduced in the RIVER PACK WOLVES series. The requisite evil is an unknown player from the anti-shifter hate group who is determined to destroy the shifters-once and for all.

WILD LOVE is an intimate, captivating and impassioned story line about shifters and the discrimination they face in the world of man. The premise is intense; the characters are exotic and charismatic; the romance is a quick build to a happily ever after-sometimes love is magical. Alisa Woods invites you into a world of passion and intrigue; determination and hope; romance and love.

Interview white:black

TRC: Hi Alisa and welcome to The Reading Café.

Congratulations on the release of WILD LOVE and WILD GAME.

Alisa: Thank you!

TRC: We would like to start with some background information. Would you please tell us something about yourself?

Follow Alisa: Goodreads / Facebook / Twitter /

Alisa: I’m a married woman with children who writes sexy romances from the corner of my livingroom in the Midwest. Alisa is actually a penname, so I’m not super open about my personal-life details, but suffice to say, I *adore* writing these sexy romances, and I’m so glad I started almost a year and a half ago with this genre. It really lets me unleash a side of my writerly self that I don’t get to use in my “other” writing.

TRC: Who or what influenced your career in writing?

Alisa: All the brave authors who put their writing out there and GO FOR IT with their stories.

TRC: What challenges or difficulties have you encountered writing and publishing your stories?

Alisa: My biggest challenge is balancing life and writing – I’ve got so many stories I want to tell, it’s really hard to get them all written while still having a life with my kids! But I’m getting better at it. 🙂

TRC: Would you please tell us something about :

Wilding Pack Series

Alisa: Wild Game: I had so much fun with this story – not only is it steeped in Gamer Culture, but it’s also got a sexy Texas accent in our hunky shifter Owen. I had great fun playing with that!

Alisa: Wild Love: This is another one that brought in some fun technology stuff – WildLove is a dating app for humans and shifters to “hook up”. The story revolves around the app developer and the sexy shifter who’s investigating an anti-shifter bomber, but I keep thinking I’d love to bring the WildLove app back for another story. So many possibilities there! I’ve had readers say they wished that WildLove was a real-life app!! I have to say, I agree. 🙂

TRC: How many books do you have planned for the WILDING PACK WOLVES series?

Alisa: Originally, five. I’m writing the fourth one now, and I’m debating whether we might need a sixth book in the series. There’s a certain character that might need his own story… I’ll decide once I get this one written. 🙂

Wild HeatTRC: Do you have a release date for Wild Heat-book three in the series?

Alisa: I’ve uploaded it! WILD HEAT should be live by the time this interview goes to press! In general, I’m shooting for a new release on the first Monday of every month. This month was delayed a bit because I had a big sale on Jaxson, the first book in the River Pack Wolves series.

TRC: How do you keep the plot(s) unpredictable without sacrificing content and believability?

Alisa: I always have an outline so I know where the story is going, but I also explore as I write – sometimes the story surprises me! I think that helps keep it surprising for the reader as well.

TRC: There is a fine line between romance, erotic, and erotica in many of today’s popular contemporary fiction. What do you believe accounts for the differences between the sub-genres in today’s romantic stories?

Alisa: I think of my stories as sexy romance – they’re doors-wide-open with the sex scenes, but those scenes are always integral to the evolution of the romance. In fact, that’s often how my characters discover their true feelings and become willing to open up to their partner – intimacy has a way of doing that, opening our hearts as we share our bodies with another person. So my “erotic romance” is really very sweet in a way. I think that’s the main difference between my sexy shifter romances and some of the harder-edged erotica that’s out there – erotica is more about the character’s sexual awakening/exploration. Romance, even the ones with open-door, explicit sex, have the emotional part of human relationships at its core.

TRC: Who or what was your inspiration to write paranormal romantic suspense?

Alisa: Funny, I don’t think of it as suspense! But of course it is – I have almost thriller-like elements in my paranormal romances. These are just the stories I like to write, but I also think that people/characters are revealed by the situations and choices they have to make. I like high-stakes plots that force people to make hard choices… and that reveal who they really are in that crucible. And when that series of life events brings a romantic pair together… all the better.

And it’s just fun. 🙂

TRC: Do you believe the cover image plays a deciding factor for many readers in the process of selecting a book or new series to read?

Alisa: Absolutely. Cover always conveys genre (or at least it should). My covers are always sexy (because my stories are), plus it helps draw in the type of readers who will enjoy them.

TRC: When writing a storyline, do the characters direct the writing or do you direct the characters?

Alisa: I’m always in charge, but sometimes they still surprise me!

TRC: The mark of a good writer is to pull the reader into the storyline so that they experience the emotions along with the characters. What do you believe a writer must do to make this happen? Where do you believe writer’s fail in this endeavor?

Alisa: The challenge is to have the reader bond with the character – and given that readers come in all flavors, it’s almost impossible to have a character that everyone will love! But that being said, I think creating characters with depth that feel like real human beings is key. We are all empathetic creatures – if the character feels real to us, we’ll want them to succeed… and find love!

TRC: Do you listen to music while writing? If so, does the style of music influence the storyline direction? Characters?

Alisa: No – I need silence! Even the cats annoy me. 🙂

TRC: Many authors bounce ideas and information with other authors or friends and family. With whom do you bounce ideas?

Alisa: I’m pretty much my own idea generator, but sometimes I “research” among friends and family. My kid is big into gaming, so I asked him some questions about the field when I was writing Wild Game. But mostly I’m on my own.

TRC: What do you believe is the biggest misconception people have about authors?

Alisa: That we’re glamorous! Um… no. Really, really no. I’m doing good to get out of my PJs most days.

TRC: What is something that few, if any people, know about you?

Alisa: That Alisa is a penname? Yup, that’s probably it.

TRC: On what are you currently working?

Alisa: Wild One (Wilding Pack 4)! Just started. SO EXCITED – we’ll be looking at shifter gangs in this one.

TRC: Would you like to add anything else?

Alisa: Thanks so much for sharing my books with your readers!

LIGHTNING ROUND

Favorite Food – baked potato; weird, I know.

Favorite Dessert – chocolate cake!

Favorite TV Show – I pretty much don’t watch TV.

Last Movie You Saw – Star Wars!

Dark or Milk Chocolate – Milk

Secret Celebrity Crush – I pretty much don’t crush on celebrities either. But if
pressed… Joseph Gorden Levitt. Because YUM.

Last Vacation Destination – I don’t vacation either (man, I am Booorrringgg!!).

Do you have any pets? Two demons in the form of cats.

Last book you read
I’m reading Hard To Let Go by Laura Kaye – soooo good!

TRC: Thank you Alisa for taking the time to answer our questions, Congratulations on the
release of WILD LOVE and WILD GAME.

Alisa: Thank you!!

ABOUT THE BOOK: February 2, 2016

Debbie Renaud is a police diver working on criminal cases with SEAL Allan Rappaport. She admires him greatly for his missions in the Navy, plus he’s just plain HOT. Allan seems to share her attraction, but what she doesn’t know is that her partner is wolf shifter.

Allan is really hung up on his smart, beautiful dive partner, but he can’t get involved with a human outside dive duty. Yet when she gets between a werewolf hunter and his intended victim, one of the members of Allan’s pack, they run into real trouble, and their lives are altered forever.

••••••••

REVIEW: SEAL WOLF IN TOO DEEP is the eighteenth installment in Terry Spear’s contemporary, adult HEART OF THE WOLF paranormal, romance series. This is wolf shifter/former Navy SEAL Allan Rappaport, and police officer Debbie Renaud’s story. SEAL WOLF IN TOO DEEP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

Told from dual third person perspectives SEAL WOLF IN TOO DEEP follows two paths: the building and forbidden relationship between law enforcement divers/partners Debbie Renaud and Allan Rappaport; and the hunt for a killer who has set his sights on shifter wolves. Allan is a wolf shifter whose new diving partner is a human female; a sexy woman that the leaders of the Pack (Paul and Lori) refuse to accept as Allan’s mate. What ensues is the search for a killer who has targeted ‘werewolves’, and the building romance between Allan and Debbie that will culminate in the unexpected when Debbie is caught between a killer and his gun.

The relationship between Debbie and Allan begins as co-workers in the police department. Both Debbie and Allan are police divers who investigate a series of murders and attempted murders that lead back to a possible rogue wolf or a vendetta against shifters of every kind. The romance is very slow to build as Allan understands that Debbie cannot be his mate but Debbie continues to pursue Allan for something more. Saying that, the sexual attraction and heat between Debbie and Allan is lacking; there is no chemistry or romance; no passion, no spark of electricity. I felt no emotional connection to our leading couple-the ‘mating’ felt like a handshake between business partners or strangers-cold and stilted. The $ex scenes are intimate without the over the top erotic imagery. There is a second man vying for Debbie’s love.

SEAL WOLF IN TOO DEEP has a very large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Paul and Lori (Seal Wolf Hunting #16) and their expanding Pack, and several mentions of the original Greymere Pack. A fellow police officer-Rowdy-appears to know quite a bit of the shifter wolves-here’s hoping Rowdy’s story is next. The world building continues to focus on the shifter wolves and their attempts to keep secret their existence from the human population.

SEAL WOLF IN TOO DEEP is an interesting story line but one that lacked in many areas including the love connection between Allan and Debbie. The murder mystery focused on too many possibilities, and with the introduction of so many players, the story line got lost in the details.

He pulled out a couple of mugs while she warmed up the cocoa. He chuckled
and she turned to see what was funny and nearly had a heart attack.
He was holding one hot pink and white mug while reading it, the other
sitting on the counter: Men should be like my curtains, easy to pull and
well hung.
Her lips parted, she had to have turned cherry red, and she turned away
quickly before she burned the cocoa. Now what? Explain that a friend had
given them to her when her last boyfriend and she had parted company? Or
just ignore the fact that they were drinking out of those cups while she
was having hot cocoa with him and pretend she wasn’t embarrassed to the
tip of her toes?
He brought the mugs over. “Anything else?”
“There’s a can of whipped cream in the fridge, if you want some.”
“Real cream,” he said, eyeing the can. “Looks good.” He gave it to her,
and he lifted the mugs.
She shook up the can and pointed it at the right mug, pushed the nozzle,
and the cream dripped and fizzled. Not to be thwarted, she shook it again,
hoping that it wasn’t defective. And then the whipped cream swirled around
with perfect ridges in a twirl on top with a cute little pointy peak.
Perfect.
Then she turned to the other mug, shook the can again, and pushed the
nozzle. It was working great until halfway through her little mountain of
whipped cream twirling to perfection, when the nozzle malfunctioned again
and spewed whipped cream everywhere.
In horror, she stopped what she was doing and stared at the white cream
splattered all over Allan’s chest and a few that had dotted his boxer
briefs. Her mouth agape, she glanced up at him.
His eyes sparkled with mirth and he laughed.
“Oh, oh, let me get something to wipe it up,” she said, belatedly, and set
the can of whipped cream on the counter.
She grabbed some paper towels and wetted them, then rushed back to wipe
the mess up. He was still holding onto both hot pink mugs of cocoa. She
had every intention of taking one of the mugs and letting him clean
himself, but he just moved his arms apart as if to say she made the mess,
she could wash it up.
She thought she was going to die. Yes, he was totally hot. And yes, she’d
fantasized about making love to him-since they were both unattached, and
she truly liked him. But in her wildest dreams she would never have
imagined making him cocoa in the middle of the night in her duplex while
he stood in sexy silk briefs, not baggy, but nice and form fitting, and
then she proceeded to splatter him with whipped cream. All over his tanned
chest and those black briefs.
