ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 27, 2024

A cell phone number triggers a deadly chain of events which pits assassins Matt and John against the enigmatic Anastasiya. She is a vampire who has lived in the shadows for two hundred years and is not about to allow the extermination of her kind by mere mortals.

When a desperate young woman named Faith joins the men, she becomes the key to Anastasiya finding them. The vigilante priest, the ruthless crime boss, the disillusioned PI, the unfaithful trophy wife — each has their part to play as Anastasiya’s hunt moves towards the inevitable deadly showdown.

Hera’s Curse is a blend of crime noir and deconstructed vampire myth unlike anything you will read.

••••

REVIEW:This is definitely not your typical vampire story. A pretty good plot. Good characters and twists that will keep you reading until the last page.

Matt and John are assassins, guns for hire. On the lookout for a target they’ve been assigned. One looks forward to the chase and killing, the other not so much. They’ve been friends for a while, but a rift is beginning to form…..

Faith made one bad choice and now she’s paying for it! But when a lifeline is thrown to her, Faith has to quickly decide to stay where she is (if she does then she won’t be around for much longer 💀) or to go with Matt and John her new heroes and help them find the guy she’s with. (I personally would go with option two.) Deciding on the second option, Faith hopes it doesn’t lead her down an even more dangerous path!!

And Anastasiya our villain of the story, but is she? Being persecuted by humans who feel threatened by her has Anastasiya on edge. Being hunted because of one silly mistake made by one of her progeny, Anastasiya will hunt them. And Faith maybe the key to finding the two killers…..

It has stories coming together from all the different characters, we get to see how they come to this point in their lives, why they are here, and how it’s all going to end!

The ending, although I vaguely saw coming, still surprised me.

But I’m going to be honest, I really struggled getting into the book and it keeping my attention. I usually inhale vampire stories. But this one…. I can’t put my finger on it, it just didn’t flow like the books I usually read.

But that’s not to say it’s a bad book, no it’s not. It’s written well, thought out pretty good, and executed nicely.

The characters felt just a little out of sync with each other and the book. But I could easily distinguish one from another.

A good read if you like a thriller with a noir feeling.

EVOLUTION OF A STORY
By Shaun Griffin

How does an author come up with an idea? How does it evolve? Is there some secret formula? Could a simple algorithm be designed to create our stories? Input some values and, hey presto, your story is done. I suppose to some degree this is happening.
All hail the AI tech wizards of creative oblivion.

The extent to which the art of weaving stories will be successfully mimicked by AI is much debated. There are times I grow despondent at the idea human beings would even think to relinquish their creativity to an algorithm. But then the muse wakes me at three in the morning with an idea and it is something magical. A magic I think AI will never be able to replicate.

This brings me to how I came up with my novel, Hera’s Curse. Although it was not called that in the beginning. It began as a short story called, Compound Vision.

It was 1998. I was driving to work one morning when I passed an old Ford Cortina (for American readers the equivalent would be a 1980s Chevy sedan) travelling well below the speed limit. Two young men, obviously closely related, sat upfront. They stared blankly ahead, blithely unaware of the world around them. The word ‘Hick’ immediately came to mind. Then it occurred to me—what if there was more to these two than met the eye? Rather than the slow-witted individuals they appeared to be, what if they were hitmen? I had this mental image of two brothers in dungarees and hobnailed boots sporting Magnum revolvers.

A few weeks later I was filling up at a gas station when a white minivan pulled up alongside. Seated inside were two prim rows of high school girls. What struck me was that they looked identical—from their immaculate private school uniforms to the blonde hair pulled back in a regulation ponytail. Every school principal’s dream. But what if that conformity hid something far more sinister?

That weekend I wrote a short story about two country bumpkin hitmen hunting a thug named Manny, who has been lured to a boarding house by some young women with the promise of sex. In the men’s search they meet Faith, a runaway who has been forced to work for Manny. She leads them to the boarding house where they discover the vampire women feeding on Manny. The story was told in a tongue-in-cheek style from the perspective of a fly-on-the-wall, hence the title. Everyone who read it remarked that I should expand it into a full-length story.

Work commitments got in the way and the story was shelved. Fifteen years later, I finally sat down to write. I thought about the original story. The characters in it were just caricatures and would not sustain the interest of anyone reading a novel. But where to start?

The first to change were the hitmen. They evolved into Matthew and John, two young men waging a war against drug dealers, though each for different reasons. Next were the young vampire women. Who were they? How did they become? For this story I felt things should be grounded in a plausible reality. Out went the usual tropes. These vampires would be a product of a virus and though enhanced in strength, agility, longevity and so forth, they could be killed like any human.

An infectious disease needs an origin and so the character of Anastasiya was born. Her noble origins and her motivation for creating her cult fell into place easily. It was then that I saw that the main conflict would be between Anastasiya and Faith, the last of my original trio. Mother and Maiden but who to be the Crone? Tammy is my interpretation of this aspect of the Goddess. All that was left was a way of connecting these protagonists. Enter Don Stone, the quintessential PI.

Once I’d completed my first draft, I realised I had the makings of a trilogy. I called it, American Noir. I hope you find the first part, Hera’s Curse, as enjoyable to read as I did to write it.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 14, 2024

A ruthless, jaded elf and a bewitching human hiding a powerful secret—unlikely soulmates whose passion will test the boundaries of life and death.

Nothing could make Yasmin return to Shaldorn, the place of nightmares. But when she’s caught stealing, she’s given an ultimatum: take Ravi over the Dangerous Peaks to the stronghold or face imprisonment.

She has no choice but to agree, though she intends to escape the elf as soon as she reaches the mountains. Yet, as they battle nature itself, the two enemies find common ground—and an all-consuming passion.

Can they prevail in their dangerous heist, or be torn apart by a betrayal?

••••

REVIEW:RISING SUN is the first instalment in Donna Grant’s adult ELVEN KINGDOMS paranormal / fantasy romance series, a spin off, set in the author’s numerous interconnected series including Dark Kings and Dragon Kings. This is sun elf Ravi, and human Yasmin’s story line. There is a slight cross over with Dragon Lover (Dragon Kings 5).

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Ravi and Yasmin) RISING SUN focuses on the search for a weapon that may be used to take down the Dragon Kings. Yasmin is struggling to feed the many mouths of the children she has chosen to raise but branded a thief, Yasmin must choose between imprisonment or returning to the place that all but destroyed her life. A cross-country journey with sun elf Ravi forces Yasmin to face her darkest fears including the revelation that Yasmin is much more than she appears to be.

The world building is set in a fantasy world with seven kinds of elves, and the return of the Dragons, once thought to be a myth. Someone is determined to destroy the dragons, and in doing so, control the order and the elves.

The relationship between Yasmin and Ravi begins as an assignment. Ravi works for the DIA, and has been tasked to retrieve an explosive device meant to destroy the mythical dragon but Yasmin is struggling with betrayal, and the memories of a place so dark and depraved that very few people make it out alive. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

There is a large ensemble cast of magical and power beings including the return of Dragon King Kendrick and his mate Esha, as well as several elves including dark elf Dain, and Mountain Elf Manu. The requisite evil has many faces.

RISING SUN is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, jealousy and madness, acceptance and love. The slow building and familiar premise is engaging and interesting; the romance is subtle, there is little palpable sexual attraction; the characters are desperate and dynamic.

The Hunter’s Daughter by Nicola Solvinic – a Review

The Hunter’s Daughter by Nicola Solvinic – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Bookbub

Description:
A hypnotic, sinister debut mystery about a seemingly good cop who is secretly the daughter of a notorious serial killer.

Anna Koray escaped her father’s darkness long ago. When she was a girl, her childhood memories were sealed away from her conscious mind by a controversial hypnosis treatment. She’s now a decorated sheriff’s lieutenant serving a rural county, conducting an ordinary life far from her father’s shadow.

When Anna kills a man in the line of duty, her suppressed memories return. She dreams of her beloved father, his hands red with blood, surrounded by flower-decked corpses he had sacrificed to the god of the forest.

To Anna’s horror, a serial killer emerges who is copying her father – and who knows who she really is. Is her father still alive, or is this the work of another? Will the killer expose her, destroying everything she has built for herself? Does she want him to?

But as she haunts the forest, using her father’s tricks to the hunt the killer, will she find what she needs most…or lose herself in the gathering darkness?

Review:

The Hunter’s Daughter by Nicola Solvinic is an exciting debut thriller. I did not know what to expect, when I started reading this book; but this turned out to be a fantastic story that kept me on the edge of my seat. I am also amazed that this is Nicola Solvinic’s debut, and I will be checking her out in the future.  Well done.

Anna Koray, our heroine, manage to escape her father being a serial killer (Forest Strangler) many years ago. When he was imprisoned, her mother gave her up for adoption, and a psychiatrist helped seal (hypnosis) away from her mind the terrible memories. Anna was adopted, with a new name and loved her new family; when she is older, she became a decorated police lieutenant.

The story begins when Anna, off duty, responds to a domestic assault call, since she was nearby. Anna finds herself in the middle of an assault, and ends up killing the man in the line of duty; with her suffering serious injuries. While in recovery, some of those suppressed memories of her father return. When a number of women turn up murdered, a serial killer using the same copycat MO of her father emerges.  Though this is decades later, she begins to remember much of the past, as Anna tries to interview those who were victims, as well as her estranged mother, who abandoned her. Anna also begins to get cell phone messages revealing that he knows who she is, her father’s daughter (Elena). Anna is deep into trying to solve the case, especially to keep her real identity a secret, which would threaten everything she has built.

What follows is an exciting, intense, suspenseful story with so many twists and turns along the way, which kept me unable to put the book down.  I will not give any spoilers, as this is a book you need to read from start to finish.  When Anna’s memories slowly return, we get to see her relationship with her father, as well as her mother, and eventually finding out at such a young age that her father a killer.

The Hunter’s Daughter was an excellent psychological thriller, that was captivating and haunting, keeping us guessing. The Hunter’s Daughter was a wild ride throughout, and so very well written by Nicola Solvinic. I am amazed how this is Solvinic’s debut novel.  I suggest you read The Hunter’s Daughter, as this was a fantastic read.

Julian (Immortals of New Orleans 14) by Kym Grosso-review

Julian (Immortals of New Orleans 14) by Kym Grosso-review

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Google Play / Chapters Indigo /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 2024

Born into royalty, Alpha Julian Fortes has been to hell and back. A lone wolf, he’s fought the ancient curse that’s plagued his family for centuries. When he saves a mysterious woman, his wolf will no longer be denied his mate or his pack.

Cassia Luna has learned to cloak her presence from the hellhounds and stay one step ahead of the evil that pursues her. Psychic abilities keep her alive, allowing her to sense the predators before they strike. As Cassia is forced to trust the charismatic Alpha, she resists her desire to submit and reveal her true nature.

The Prince of Wolves must confront destructive evil forces that lurk in the shadows. But will the Alpha destroy his enemies before they kill him? And after living a lifetime alone, will he succumb to the visceral need to claim Cassia, acknowledging the soul binding connection between an Alpha and his mate?
Julian is the 12th novel in The Immortals of New Orleans series. Although many of my readers prefer reading the series in order, each book is written to be read standalone.

•••••

REVIEW:JULIAN is the fourteenth instalment in Kym Grosso’s contemporary, adult IMMORTALS OF NEW ORLEANS erotic, paranormal, fantasy romance series. This is ancient shifter, Prince Alpha Julian Fortes, and Cassia Luna’s story line. JULIAN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading from book six onwards for back story and cohesion.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise including MFM sexual situations, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from omniscient third person perspectives (Julian and Cassia) JULIAN follow in the aftermath of the rescue of our story line heroine. Alpha Julia Fortes believes he had rescued a human female but her ‘disappearance’ meant she was something more.Tracking down the woman that had peaked and interested his inner wolf, Julian would discover Cassia Luna is much more than human,Cassia’s premonitions would set into motion a war between Earth and H&ll. Cassia Luna’s existence and supernatural abilities are rare even within the world of the paranormal but Cassia never expected to find her mate in Alpha Prince Julian Fortes. A series of dreams and message pushes Cassia on a path towards her future, a future involving a demonic cult, witches, shifters, vampires, dragons, fae and the search for the ‘vessel’ that may free them all. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Julian and Cassia, and the potential fall-out when something sets their sights on our story line couple.

The world building, is once again, detailed and complex, with the inclusion and mention of many previous story line conflicts and premises. Someone or something has set a plan into motion to secure the most powerful supernatural creatures, and in this, shifter royalty, and a one-of-a-kind magical being is the perfect prize to obtain the ultimate control.

The relationship between Julian and Cassia begins as a rescue, then a search for our story line heroine. Cassia’s dreams / nightmare warn of impending death and destruction, and the hounds of h&ll are taking aim at our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative including an MFM sexual situation.

There is another large ensemble cast of colorful, powerful and energetic secondary and supporting supernatural characters, many of whom has been manipulated and magically forced into a world not of their own. Rafe, vampire/wolf hybrid returns, as he struggle to come to terms with both sides of his new existence.

JULIAN is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is impassioned, dramatic and compelling; the romance is provocative and seductive; the characters are dynamic and charismatic.

People in Glass Houses by Jayne Castle – a Review

People in Glass Houses by Jayne Castle – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Bookbub

Description:
His name is Joshua Knight. Once a respected explorer, the press now calls him the Tarnished Knight. He took the fall for a disaster in the Underworld that destroyed his career. The devastating event occurred in the newly discovered sector known as Glass House—a maze of crystal that is rumored to conceal powerful Alien antiquities. The rest of the Hollister Expedition team disappeared and are presumed dead.

Whatever happened down in the tunnels scrambled Josh’s psychic senses and his memories, but he’s determined to uncover the truth. Labeled delusional and paranoid, he retreats to an abandoned mansion in the desert, a house filled with mirrors. Now a recluse, Josh spends his days trying to discover the secrets in the looking glasses that cover the walls. He knows he is running out of time.

Talented, ambitious crystal artist Molly Griffin is shocked to learn that the Tarnished Knight has been located. She drops everything and heads for the mansion to find Josh, confident she can help him regain control of his shattered senses. She has no choice—he is the key to finding her sister, Leona, a member of the vanished expedition team. Josh reluctantly allows her to stay one night but there are two rules: she must not go down into the basement, and she must not uncover the mirrors that have been draped.

But her only hope for finding her sister is to break the rules…

Review:

People in Glass Houses by Jayne Castle is the 16th book in her Harmony series. This takes place in Illusion Town within Harmony, which is a colonized alien world, and the underground maze in Illusion Town, has weird paranormal activity/hallucinations, with many people never escaping.

The story starts when a young Molly and Leona were raised in an orphanage, with both having some psi-talents. After Molly was kidnapped, Leona calls the Griffin Investigations to rescue Molly, and after the Griffin ladies rescued them, they are then adopted by Charlotte and Eugenie.  Years later, Molly and Leona have their own special psych talents, and are part of Griffin Investigations.

When Leona is missing during an expedition exploring the underworld, Molly sets out to find her.  She knows the only way to find her sister is to find Joshua Knight, the then leader of the Hollister Expedition, who ended up severely damaged, and the rest of the team all disappeared.  Molly is determined to convince Joshua that she can help him with his dreams, as well as restoring his memory. Joshua is hiding from the world, staying in a haunted house filled with crystal mirrors.  Despite his wanting to close the door on Molly, Josh reluctantly allows her to stay one night. She manages to prove her abilities in helping him regain control of his shattered senses; which will lead them to team up.

Molly was a fantastic heroine, with amazing abilities, which leads Joshua to get his memory back. Both of them worked closely to find Leona and two other team members, and manage to get them back to freedom.

In a short time, the chemistry between Molly and Joshua escalates, especially after he kisses her, he falls unconscious.  I really liked both of them together, as they made a perfect match. I also adored the lovable Newton, the dust bunny, who loves his zing chips, and was so much fun.  I was also liked both Charlotte and Eugenie, their adopted mothers.

What follows is an exciting mysterious and romantic story line, with a fantastic couple in Molly and Joshua, as well as our adorable Newton.  There is a lot of action, as we race to the climax, with Joshua and Molly using their powers to defeat the enemy.  People in Glass Houses was an excellent paranormal mystery, with a number of surprises along the way.   People in Glass Houses was very well written by Jayne Castle.  I look forward to the next book, which is expected to feature Leona as the lead.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 2, 2024

Standing in front of a dragon means dying by fire, but the heart knows there’s more than one way to burn.

Humans and dragons are at war, and I am a pawn in the battle.

Princess of a dying land, my life is not my own, and a marriage to a vicious, dragon-hunting prince will save my people from deadly famine or death by fire.

But before I can vow my life to a monster, dragons drop screaming from the sky with a single aim. End the alliance. Kill me. I welcome the flames, relieved to burn instead of rot.

But the flames never come.

One look in the dragons’ eyes, and they carry me away. Three dragons whose gaze burns with hunger and fills me with fire.

They’re not what we were taught, and every passing day I learn more of the truth. Dragons are not the enemy we thought they were.

Still, one question remains: for centuries no one has stood before a dragon and survived. If these dragons were sent to kill me, why am I still alive?

•••••

REVIEW:Another trilogy by an author who is becoming a one click for me. Why choose and shifters, what more could a reader ask for 😉

Lena is to be married off to a neighbouring kingdom to form an alliance against the dragons! The only good dragon is a 💀 dragon! That’s how she’s been raised! But meeting her future husband has Lena in a panic! He’s not a polite prince that he pretends to be, in fact he’s a villain (and one you don’t want to be redeemed!)

Meeting the trio of dragons, Zovai, Sirius and Endre has Lena rethinking most of the teachings she was brought up with. And even the dragons are baffled with what they know from the elders.

I really liked how we got to read all of the main characters points of view. The plot had me reading until late into the night, in fact I finished the book in one day.

Not happy about the cliffhanger. And that cute baby dragon, Vari (that must have given her a clue that something was amiss?)

So….. wedding day approaches and Lena is lead to the altar. But before the vows are exchanged, the dragons swoop in. Lena realises she’s the target and prepares to meet her fate 💀, but that doesn’t happen….

Zovai, Sirius and Endre have been charged with killing Lena. The elders don’t want the kingdoms banding together, so to show the humans who is boss, the elders decree Lena must 💀!! So what stops that from happening? You’ll need to read the book to find out 😜

Yes, it’s a little predictable. Yes, although trust needs to be earned you know they will all be ok. But with the stories this author writes, it’s not that simple. Miscommunication and betrayal have Lena and the dragons not trusting one another. What are the elders hiding? And are the dragons really the enemy that Lena was led to believe?

There are triggers, and my advice is to visit the website and read them before grabbing this book.

Also be aware there is a huuuuuuuge cliffhanger (that was what i expected) so hoping the next book is out soon, because I need to know what happens next.

•••••

REVIEW: SHADOW OF DARK DESIRE is the first instalment in Ashley Lockwood’s contemporary, adult SHADOWS ETERNAL paranormal/fantasy series focusing on ancient vampire Sirus, and Gwendolyn ‘Gwen’ Moore.

Told from omniscient third person perspectives (Sirus and Gwen) SHADOW OF DARK DESIRE introduces the premise and players in the new author’s Shadows Eternal series. Sirus is an ancient vampire who has been contracted and tasked to find and protect our story line heroine. Gwen Moore is a nobody; without powers or parents, and in this she believes Sirus has mistaken our heroine for someone else but Sirus has been hired to protect Gwen Moore, a woman who is much more than she appears to be. Someone has targeted our story line heroine, she is a prize worthy of chaos and death.

The world building follows several paths including the introduction of numerous characters: Barith (dragon), Levian (mage), Abigail (witch), Bridgette (witch), and Sirus’ sister Niah. The requisite evil has many faces. No one knows for sure who or, what is Gwendolyn Moore, and in this, the reader has been left in the dark, like the story line characters.

The relationship between Gwen and Sirus begins as an assignment to find and protect. Our couple find themselves attracted to one another but any attempts to act on their feelings, is brushed off, or broken by our story line hero. There are no $ex scenes, limited romance, and no seduction. The attraction is acknowledged but mostly through internal dialogue and reflection.

SHADOW OF DARK DESIRE is a slow building story line of secrets and lies, power and control, magic and mayhem but in this we learn very little. We have yet to discover the how or the why, or the powers, heritage and probabilities of our story line heroine. The premise is intriguing; the romance is virtually non-existent; the characters are determined and desperate. SHADOW OF DARK DESIRE ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

When she uses her magical gift, the mystery of the stones exposes a secret we’ve never known. Battle lines between the witches and vampires become clearly drawn, but that won’t stop me. Whether destiny forbids it or not, I will make the bewitching enchantress my mate.

REVIEW: MASTER ORADEA is the tenth instalment in Sylvia Black’s contemporary adult MASTERS OF THE CONSULATE dark, paranormal, romance series. This is pureblood vampire Master Oradea, and Natalia Benzini’s story line. MASTER ORADEA can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order as there is an ongoing premise throughout, and many of the previous story line characters and couples play a significant role.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Oradea and Natalia) MASTER ORADEA continues to focus on the hunt for a group of rogue vampires and shifters in and around Eastern Europe and the Carpathian Mountains. Natalia is the only sister in the Benzini crime family, and as such, a rogue vampire has targeted our story line heroine. The Benzini crime family blame the vampires for the threat against their only sister but when Master Oradea offers to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love, our heroine sees red until she realizes her life is truly in danger. Natalia Benzini is much more than a mobster’s younger sister, our heroine is about to discover she has her own powers that may have been passed through the maternal family order. As the pureblood vampires find themselves on the defensive against a betrayer, their mates (and witches) must come to terms with the possibility that one of their own may be in league with the rogues and shifters . What ensues is the rapidly building relationship between Natalia and Master Oradea, and the potential fall-out as Natalia discovers the thin line between love and hate between vampires and witches.

The world building continues to focus on the war between pureblood vampires, and the rogue vampires who have partnered with shifters with the same belief system as the old order. The rogue vampires believe that all vampires should be given free rein, free will to feed on whom ever they want, and in doing so, exert their power over the people below.

The relationship between Natalia and Master Oradea is one of immediate attraction. Natalia’s life has been threatened, and in doing so, places her in the very capable hands of our story line hero, a man whose own battles and beliefs with some of the supernatural species threatens his own relationship with our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful and powerful secondary and supporting characters including many of the previous story line couples. We are introduced to Natalia’s siblings: Michael, Marcus, Antonio and Frankie Benzini. The requisite evil has many faces, some more familiar than others.

MASTER ORADEA is a story of betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, obsession and demands, power and control, family and relationships, friendships and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is intriguing and captivating but does very little to advance the series or the ongoing conflict; the romance is seductive; the characters are determined, desperate and dynamic. MASTER ORADEA ends on a bit of a cliff-hanger, you have been warned.

REVIEW: MASTER ROMANO is the fourth instalment in Sylvia Black’s contemporary, adult MASTER OF THE CONSULATE paranormal, romance series. This is vampire Master Romano, and witch Raven’s story line. MASTER ROMANO can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Romano and Raven) MASTER ROMANO follows the building romance and relationship between our story line couple. Master Romano has been recalled to Europe in the wake of issues of trust. Having lived and worked in Chicago, Master Romano is about to come face to face with the vampire’s sworn enemy, a young witch who is hoping to discover the who and what of an ancient vampire but the vampires are at war with the witches, and someone is controlling behind the scenes, someone with enough power to bring together witches, vampires and wolves in a war for power and control. What ensues is the building but forbidden relationship between Raven and Master Romano, and the potential fall-out when Romano is led to believe that Raven is part of a much larger plot to end them all.

The world building continues to focus on the centuries old hatred between vampires and witches. Both have been taught and indoctrinated into believing the other is evil and cruel, and when one of their own seeks to control, Raven is once again caught in the middle between vampires and witches.

The relationship between Raven and Master Romano begins acrimoniously. Romano discovers a possible spy on his estate in the Carpathian Mountains, and Raven is about to uncover the truth about who is controlling the witches and wolves behind the scenes. The $ex scenes are passionate and intimate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and magical secondary and supporting characters including Overmaster Descallia and his mate Lucianna, Lucianna’s sister Isala; Raven’s aunt Devora, Master Catteneo, vampires Lucas, Clay, Silver, Terrence and Embry, as well as Raven’s sister Ezra. The requisite evil has many faces.

MASTER ROMANO is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is engaging and intriguing but the stereotypical ‘witch’ paraphernalia is a bit over the top including brooms, wands and cauldrons; the romance is passionate, the characters are determined and dynamic
