LOVE ONLINE is a sweet story of romance and love with some ‘unrealistic’ expectations and situations that left me shaking my head including moving an entire house across several state lines. The character driven premise is engaging and inviting; the romance is sensitive and seductive; the characters are animated and sassy. LOVE ONLINE is an imaginative and spicy treat for late night romantics.

I will add that the use of a certain four-letter word, I find vulgar, is quite pervasive- the heroine also comments on her dislike of the word.

The secondary and supporting characters are colorful and energetic. We are introduced to Gia’s roommate and best friend Riley; her father NYPD police officer tony Mirabelli ; Rush’s half-brother Elliot, and his father Gerald Horvath; and his mother Melody Rushmore.

REBEL HEIR is a heart breaking and animated story line with strong characters. The premise is powerful and engrossing; the characters are spirited and realistic; the romance is sassy, sexy and captivating. There are moments of revelation and inspiration; family and pain; romance and love. REBEL HEIR ends on a cliffhanger-you have been warned!

Their friends with benefits agreement and rules are eventually thrown caution to the wind as love becomes the overarching theme that will be threatened by Rory’s attempts to win back the woman he still loves. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and seductive but, once again, I take offense to a certain four-letter word that holds no place in a romance story line.

We are introduced to Amber’s best friend Annabelle, and Milo, a young autistic man who loves to smell all newcomer’s hair, as well as Channing’s ex-girlfriend Emily, his ailing mother Christine, Rory’s neighbour Boris, and Boris’s daughter Stephanie.

GENTLEMAN NINE is an emotional and sometimes heart breaking story line that treads dangerously close to love-triangle territory, if not, crossing over for several chapters, which, not being a fan of the three sided romance-ever- amped up my anxiety exponentially. The premise is creative and moving; the characters are determined and passionate; the romance is provocative and intense.

Through a series of mishaps Bridget is not only Simon’s patient and landlord, but also works side by side with the man who stirs something deep within our story line heroine. What ensues is the building romance between Simon and Bridget, and the potential fall out as Simon’s time in America comes to a close.

REVIEW: DRUNK DIAL by Penelope is a contemporary, adult stand alone erotic, romance story line focusing on California food truck vendor Landon Roderick, and twenty six year old dancer Rana Saloomi.

Told from first person point of view (Rana) DRUNK DIAL follows the rekindling friendship between Michiganders Rana Saloomi, and Landon Roderick. Thirteen years earlier, Rana’s family lived above the garage on the Roderick’s property but hard times meant the family disappeared without saying goodbye. Fast forward to present day and our heroine decides to confront the boy she left behind years before. One drunk dial later, Rana will reconnect with Landon Roderick-a young man, now living in Los Angeles, who has struggled in the ensuing years as much as our story line heroine. What ensues is the rekindling friendship and long distance romance between two people whose lives took unexpected turns.

Rana and Landon are two flawed characters who have battled and won. Rana’s earlier years were fraught with heartbreak, issues of low self-esteem, and rebellion; Landon’s struggled with living a lie throughout most of his life. Rana’s drunk-dial phone call rekindled Landon’s interest in the young girl he would never forget-a young girl who has changed in more ways than one.

The relationship between Landon and Rana is slow to build-late night phone calls and texts followed by a long distance love affair that will come to fruition when Rana makes an emergency trip to California in search of the man with whom she had fallen in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There are some scenes of anal play that may not be suitable for some readers. I did have an issue with the lack of condom usage. There was never any mention of condoms during our couple’s sexual times together- fiction and the possibility of no unwanted pregnancies aside, I do believe that romance authors have an obligation to present safe (safer) $ex scenarios.

We are introduced to Rana’s father Eddie Saloomi, as well as a glimpse at her crazy roommate Lenny; Landon’s parents Marjorie and Jim Roderick, and his best friend Ace; and Lilith-a young girl whom Rana mentors in the Big Sister program.

DRUNK DIAL is a sweet story of second chances (of sorts) for two people whose lives were destroyed by secrets of the past. The text is simple; the one-on-one interactions between Rana and Landon are awkward, almost adolescent in nature as they come to terms with the past and the present- For me, Rana’s personality quirks felt contrived and forced. The premise is entertaining; the characters are damaged; the romance is a second chance at love and a happily ever after.

REVIEW: MACK DADDY by Penelope Ward is a stand alone, contemporary, adult, romantic story line. This is businessman Mackenzie ‘Mack’ Morrison, and elementary school teacher Francesca O’Hara’s second chance story.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Mack and Francesca) including memories from the past, MACK DADDY focuses on the rekindling relationship between one time best friends Mack Morrison and Francesca O’Hara. Francesca is an elementary school teacher and the new term begins with a familiar face-a face that destroyed our heroine’s heart. Enter Mack Morrison, and his six year old son Jonah-a young man with issues of separations and anxiety. What ensues is the rebuilding friendship and romance between our leading couple as they consider their future together and alone.

Francesca aka Frankie O’Hara loves her current boyfriend Victor-an older lover who offers Frankie the world- but the reappearance of the one that walked away begins to break down all of Frankie’s resistance. Victor offers Frankie a choice, then quietly walks away without a fight to the finish. Mack Morrison shares custody of his son with his ex Torrie-the woman for whom he sacrificed his friendship with Frankie, and the woman who will continue to destroy our hero’s heart. But with war comes the battles, and Mack and Frankie will choose their battles one step at a time.

The relationship between Mack and Frankie is one of second chances; a rekindling romance that sizzled with palpable sexual attraction but a romance that was never to be. Mack was in a relationship that his father approved, and Frankie was a friend who got caught in the crossfire. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense without the use of sexually graphic, over the top language and text.

We are introduced to Frankie’s co-worker Lorelai, a woman who pushes all of Frankie’s buttons; Mack’s ex Torrie Hightower; his neighbor Mrs. Migillicutty; his mother and sister, as well as his politically prominent father.

The world building looks at second chances, and hard choices, and in this some readers may take offense or have difficulty with some of the story line content-Frankie straddles a line of infidelity where Mack and her current relationship are concerned.

MACK DADDY is a story of second chances; of a friendship that was broken; of a heart that was unable to move on from the past. The premise is engaging; the romance is passionate and emotional; the characters are colorful and energetic. MACK DADDY is a sexy and sensitive story line from the mind of Penelope Ward.
