REVIEW:PERFECT ENEMY is the second instalment in M. Robinson’s contemporary adult BECKHAM DYNASTY erotic, romance series focusing on the Beckham siblings. This is thirty eight year old, former US Navy SEAL Jace Beckham, and eighteen year old Cove Noel’s story line. PERFECT ENEMY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Some of the events of PERFECT ENEMY cross over with, and run parallel to some of the events of book one TEMPTING ENEMY.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jace and Cove) PERFECT ENEMY follows the age-gap, best friend’s older brother romance between thirty eight year old, former US Navy SEAL Jace Beckham, and eighteen year old Cove Noel. At eight years of age, Cove Noel had her heart broken by her best friend’s old brother, twenty-eight year old Jace Beckham. The Beckham’s had just buried Jace’s mother, and eight year old Cove wanted to comfort the man who would ultimately break her heart but Jace’s fury and vitriol destroyed our heroine’s spirit and her soul, leaving a shell of her former self behind. Fast forward to present day, Jace is no longer the man with whom Cove had fallen in love, a man whose secrets are now dangerous and dark. Having recently graduated and turned eighteen, Cove would meet another man that would call to her heart but an assassins bullet would push Cove into the arms of our story line hero but Cove was about to discover the truth about the man she no longer loved, a man who was about to destroy what was left of her heart, crushing all hopes of Cove’s own happily ever after. What ensues is the building but tempestuous relationship between Cove and Jace, as Cove must work undercover with Jace in an effort to protect her from future harm.
Cove Noel had fallen in love with Jace Beckham at an early age but Jace was twenty years older, and was a master at destroying everything he loved. Jace’s retirement from active duty came with a few caveats and demons, demons that were about to take control, forcing Jace to become someone he no longer liked.
The relationship between Jace and Cove is an age-gap, best friend’s older brother, force proximity, enemies to lovers romance in which Jace struggles not to lose his heart to the woman he is about to destroy. Jace is the enemy, and Cove has no idea to the extent her life is in danger, a life that is ultimately payment for someone else’s sins. The $ex scenes are aggressive and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my romance story lines.
We are reintroduced to Jace’s sister Haven and her boyfriend Hayes (Tempting Enemy #1), as well as their brothers Reid and Ledger, and Cove’s boyfriend Deacon McKay.
PERFECT ENEMY is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, opportunity and decisions, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing, suspenseful and captivating; the characters are desperate and determined; the romance is provocative and passionate. PERFECT ENEMY ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
