REVIEW:PERFECT TOGETHER is the third instalment in Carly Phillips’ contemporary, adult SERENDIPITY’S FINEST erotic, romance series. This is detective Sam Marsden, and soon to be bakery owner Nicole Farnsworth’s story line. PERFECT TOGETHER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Nicole is the sister of Victoria (Perfect Fling)

NOTE: PERFECT TOGETHER is the re-release of the author’s original book with the same title.

Told from several omniscient third person perspectives including Sam and Nicole PERFECT TOGETHER follows in the wake of the broken engagement of New York socialite Nicole Farnsworth. Nicole knew returning to Serendipity may cause some issues for the people who were directly involved with her troubled twin sister Victoria but Victoria was getting help, and having called off her engagement in the wake of some troubling information, Nicole wanted to start over, far from the people she left behind. Getting reacquainted with the people in Serendipity brought with it memories from the past but falling for Detective Sam Marsden was never in the cards. Sam Marsden has loved and lost, and refuses to go down the same path again but something about Nicole called to his heart, and when the problems in New York follow Nicole to Serendipity, Sam becomes guardian and protector of the women with whom he will fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Sam and Nicole, and the potential fall-out as Sam battles between head and heart as it pertains to our story line heroine.

The world building focuses on sins of the past: from Nicole’s sister’s mental illness, dysfunctional family values, inability to trust, and broken hearts. Perfect Together focuses on moving forward and letting go of the past.

The relationship between Sam and Nicole is one of immediate attraction but Nicole’s sister’s previous problems weigh heavily on our story line heroine. Sam isn’t looking for anything permanent, and Nicole is hoping to move on from the past. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and sassy secondary and supporting characters including most of the previous story line introductions and couple. We are re-introduced to Sam’s extended family, as well as Nicole’s parents, and her ex Tyler.

PERFECT TOGETHER is a story of power and control, secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, forgiveness and understanding, acceptance and love .The fast paced premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are determined, dynamic and charismatic.

REVIEW: PERFECT TOGETHER by Kristen Ashley is a contemporary, stand alone, erotic, second chance romance focusing on the Gastineau family: Remy and Wyn, and their children Sabre, Manon and Yves. For fans of Kristen Ashley, there is a slight cross over with the author’s RIVER RAIN series.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from first person perspective (Wyn) and several omniscient third person (Remy, Yves, Sabre) PERFECT TOGETHER follows the rebuilding relationship between Wyn and Remy Gastineau, and the reconciling of a family destroyed by secrets and lies.

Three years earlier architect Remy Gastineau walked away from his wife of nineteen years, stylist Wyn Gastineau, leaving behind his family, his children and the woman he loved. Fast forward to present day, Remy has asked his family to his house, a family meeting that is about to change the direction of everyone’s life. As Remy battles to heal the fractured dynamics between himself and his immediate family, the damaged and mutilated past is about to revise the course of the Gastineau family, once again. A friendship broken by hatred and animosity; a relationship destroyed by betrayal and obsession; and a family shattered by lies and abuse must come to terms with a past and present clouded by denial and rejection, and a future that is eased by acceptance and love.

We are introduced to a colorful and somewhat questionable cast of secondary and supporting characters including Remy and Wyn’s immediate family including sons Sabre and Yves, and their daughter Manon; Remy’s parents Collette and Guillaume Gastineau, as well as Wyn’s PA Noel, and her besties Bernice, Bea, Kara and her husband Reed, actor Fiona Remington, and Remy’s ex Myrna.

PERFECT TOGETHER is a story of fractured family dynamics, secrets and lies, abuse, animosity and vengeance, acceptance and love. The premise is heart breaking, emotional and raw; the romance is a second chance love; the characters are struggling but learning to thrive.

Here’s hoping the author has plans for Remy and Wyn’s three adult children.

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn’t taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Review:

Perfect Together by Carly Phillips is a wonderful romance that takes place in a small town called Serendipity.  This is not the first book in this series, but it can very well be read as standalone.  We meet our hero, detective Sam Marsden.  While Sam’s family all around him are happy, being engaged or married, Sam doesn’t want any commitments.   He however can’t seem to forget a girl he met during a case a few months before. Nicole Farnsworth has just broken up with her fiancée, since she knows that what they feel for each other is that of a lifelong friend.  She too, remembers Sam, enough to know that is what she wants to feel about someone she will marry.  Nicole leaves her distant and cold family, and moves to Serendipity.

Nicole has never known what family love is about; just to do what is expected of her. But the minute she arrives in Serendipity, and sees Sam, she feels the chemistry immediately.  Nicole also meets Macy, who becomes a good friend, and in time she learns what family is all about when she meets the Mardens.  What follows is a beautiful romance, with some suspense throughout the story.  Seems another reason Nicole lefe home, is she overheard her ex fiancee’s father talking to the Russian mob.  Not thinking anyone knew she overheard, she decided to keep quiet and move on with her life.  Tyler her ex, and long time friend tries to win her back, though he knows its hopeless  but he too is following what his father wants.  Macy takes Tyler under her wing, and slowly changes him to loosen up.  Besides watching the relationship build between Nicole and Sam, we get to see Tyler and Macy start something on their own, though this is very slowly done.

Sam has his issues being dumped by his ex fiancée years before, but he knows how much he has begun to care for Nicole.  He uses his police connections to help both Nicole and Tyler get past the danger that could be life threatening.  This was suspenseful and well done.  But it is the romance between Nicole and Sam that made this book so much fun to read.  Their chemistry was very sensual, and hot. I loved watching Nicole learn to care about the friends she found in Serendipity, as well as Sam’s family; especially after we got to meet her horrible mother, father, sister.  She loved Sam, but will Sam get past his major stumbling block?  Read this book, you will really enjoy it.
