ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 8, 2023

Just when I thought life couldn’t get worse, a past nightmare returns. But this time he’s after more than my body. He wants it all—me and my daughter.
Broken, abused, and all alone.
I first met Detective Hudson Mott on the worst night of my adult life, and now four years later, he appears on my doorstep telling me I’m in danger. Again.
The forbidden crush I harbored for him burns brighter when he refuses to leave us unprotected, determined to stick close. A massive, sexy former Navy SEAL who makes me feel safe and seen wants to insert himself into my crazy life plus is super adorable with my four-year-old.
Yes, please. Maybe then I could actually sleep.
We both wear internal scars from our pasts, though that doesn’t diminish the instant attraction and combustible desire that pulse between us.
It might be forbidden, but I can’t stop wanting more and picturing us as a family.
The killer wants Samantha and me for his own, and Hudson refuses to let that happen.
I’ve survived a lot in my life…
But this might be the final act that breaks me beyond repair.

REVIEW: MINE TO SHELTER is the eighth instalment in Kennedy L. Mitchell’s contemporary, adult PROTECTION erotic, romantic suspense series. This is former US Navy SEAL turned LA Detective Hudson Mott, and single mother/waitress Calista Hart’s story line. MINE TO SHELTER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Hudson was first introduced in book seven Mine to Share.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from three first person perspectives (Hudson, Calista, Unknown) MINE TO SHELTER follows four years after a serial rapist was never apprehended in the LA area, and all clues point to the return of said rapist, a man who has upped his game, now focusing his murdering intent of the women he left behind. Disappointed and hating himself for not solving the case, Detective Hudson Mott begins a search for the women previously attacked, only to discover he was once again too late to save them all but his attraction to Calista Hart is growing with every encounter, and our hero will find himself falling in love with the woman, and her daughter, who has stolen his heart. What ensues is the building relationship between Calista and Hudson, and the potential fall-out as the past takes aim, refusing to stop until he gets who and what he wants.

The world building focuses on the search for a rapist turned killer, who is targeting his previous victims. Detective Hudson Mott blames himself for not taking down the person responsible but falling for Calista was never in the cards. As Calista’s guardian and protector Hudson’s career will be placed on the line, a career form which he was already willing to walk away. Calista Hart’s life has changed completely in the four years since she was attacked. A former model who is desperate to protect the only family she has ever loved, now finds herself the target of a man who is struggling the with madness of power and control.

The relationship between Calista and Hudson is a professional arrangement but our couple’s attraction to one another is palpable and strong. Hudson’s career is on the line as he continues to dig into the mind of a killer, a mind that is more familiar than they could have ever imagined. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my romance story lines.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, familiar, questionable and dynamic secondary and supporting character including the return of FBI Profiler Charlie Beckham (Mine to Keep 3), and FBI Agent Jameson Bend & ME Dr. Rain Evans (Mine To Share 7), as well as Calista’s friend Gloria, and Special Agent Cooper.

MINE TO SHELTER is a story of power and control, madness, betrayal and obsession, friendships and relationships, acceptance and love. The slow building premise is tragic and intriguing; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are energetic, spirited and desperate.

Warm air wheezed from the side vents, what should’ve been cold air almost the same scorching temperature as outside the crappy-ass car. Using the hem of my cotton T-shirt, I swiped away the trails of sweat from my temples and relaxed against the seat, adjusting on the worn cloth to get comfortable after sitting for so long in the same position. Watching through the cracked tint of the driver’s side window, I studied the few families who pushed full baskets along the car-lined aisles and others who weaved between cars, hurrying for the front entrance of the massive supercenter that held anything and everything a person could want or need.
Tapping the bottom of the soft pack, I plucked a cigarette free and leaned forward to manually roll down the window, lighting the end with Dad’s old Zippo before taking a deep hit. Lids half closed, still monitoring the busy parking lot, I savored the burn in my lungs, remembering all those nights smoking with Dad, talking about the day.
Attention still partially on the older-model gray sedan parked three cars down and across the row from where I waited, I stretched over the center console and swiped the worn paper off the passenger seat. Inhaling another deep drag, I glared at the list of names written in my handwriting, the holes and thick lines displaying the anger coursing through me when I wrote them. The same rage that rolled through my veins as I sneered at the names.
They were why I was alone. Why I had zero fucking family left to call my own.
Before, it was a way to play with my obsessions, to have them once before moving on to the next who caught my attention. Then as months passed, it was fun seeing how many I could have without getting caught. I was too clever, smarter than the forensic team in this shit city, than all the cops and detectives assigned to those cases.
Fifteen women and they still didn’t have a damn clue who I was.
I should’ve become a cop like Dad wanted,” I huffed around the filter between my lips.
Maybe then they’d have fewer cold cases, never solved because of gross incompetence. They could use someone like me who knew how to watch from the shadows without being seen for months, who could memorize every detail of a target’s routine and life. But instead of using that honed skill to help find justice for victims, I chose to channel it toward making more.
Like now, as I sat in my shit car waiting to catch a glimpse of the next name on the list ready to be marked off.
Soon.
First, I needed to learn her routine all over again. Understand who she was after four years of us being apart before snuffing her out like I should’ve done all those years ago. None of them deserved to move on from me, to live happy, fulfilling lives. Not when mine was ruined because of them. Destroyed after what I had to do to the only person who ever loved me unconditionally.
Well, unconditionally until realizing his son was the serial rapist who’d terrorized the greater LA area for years. The list of names crumpled beneath my tightening hold as an all-too-familiar anger raced through my veins. It happened every time I remembered the look of disgust, then shock that registered on Dad’s face that night in the high beams of the car’s headlights.
They made me do it. They were why I was without him.
After that night, all alone in our home, I knew those bitches needed to pay the ultimate price. Without the access to find them again, it took months to locate them all and form a plan before I made my move on the first.
Oh, I had my fun with her before dumping her like the trash she was.
Then the next two followed, and it was just as exciting to steal their fight and drain any ounce of hope of survival. The few weeks I spent with each one I’d no doubt remember for the rest of my life, though the videos would help if I ever started to forget the finer details, like how their screams echoed off the basement walls and their fight turned to begging after days alone with me.
Now it was time for the next one on the list.
Calista Hart.
Out of the corner of my eye, I caught the sedan’s partially rusted trunk popping open as if triggered remotely. A wave of excitement had me sitting up straighter in the seat, wedging the cigarette butt through the cracked window and folding both forearms on top of the steering wheel as a familiar figure drew closer. Her long, brilliant blonde hair flashed in the afternoon sun, drawing the attention of every male to the model gracing their presence. Fuck. I inhaled deeply, nostrils flaring with the memories of her tied up beneath me. She was still just as beautiful as back then, the sole reason she’d attracted my obsession in the first place.
Images of her in my basement, getting to feel her again as many times as I wanted before doing away with her, came to a grinding halt at movement in the seat of the barely filled cart. My grip tightened around the steering wheel. A mop of blonde curls, porcelain skin just like her mother’s, and chubby arms waved all around, making Calista laugh so loud that it carried through the parking lot and into my car.
A baby.
No, a toddler.
Gaze focused on the two of them through my windshield, I absentmindedly tugged at my curly dirty-blond hair. Hair that looked too similar to the little girl holding Calista’s attention.
Mouth suddenly too dry to swallow, I barely breathed as Calista Hart placed the meager groceries into the trunk, keeping one hand wrapped around her daughter’s foot the entire time.
At this distance, there was no way to make out the child’s features or even the color of her eyes, but the warmth pooling in my chest said I knew the answer to the question I couldn’t get out of my head.
Mine.
Her child had to be mine.
I didn’t have a damn clue what age she must be, but if I had to bet, I’d put my money on four. Which lined up exactly to when I’d visited Calista that amazing night in her home, when I’d allowed all my fantasies of us together to come true.
Eyes gritty with the need to blink, I forced my lids to remain open and not miss a minute of my beautiful family loading into the car, and I continued watching as they drove away. Once the car turned, disappearing down the row of vehicles, I deflated against the seat. Unfolding the crumpled list, I stared at the names. Fingers searching, I pulled a pen out of the center console, bit off the cap, and ever so gently circled Calista’s name.
She was special now. They were special, not deserving of my wrath like the others.
Calista Hart had no idea how lucky she was.
Now she wouldn’t suffer and die in pain by my hands, serving my own form of justice for what they took from me.
Calista and our daughter would be mine soon.
A happy family.
Forever.

Maybe Josh was right that he was the only one who would put up with my increasing level of crazy.
Elbows pressed onto the cool counter, I smacked my face into both palms and raked my fingers back until they tugged through my loose strands.
No. Josh was not right. He was a manipulating asshole who made me dependent on him by making me feel unwanted and unlovable.
Though it was difficult to not see a sliver of truth in his blunt words. Who would want to put up with someone like me long term? My mental state most days was the definition of a shit show, not a hot mess. Looking back, I knew that was why I’d settled for Josh—I thought he was the best someone like me could do.
After that first time he cheated on me, then blamed me, claiming he did it because I worked too much and was never home, I should’ve left. But by that point, I believed his lies, questioning myself and what I had to offer anyone else.
Until a smirking, good-looking detective strolled into the morgue one day.
The man who helped me see through Josh’s lies and manipulations was now back in my life, this time as an FBI agent here to help identify a serial killer. Back then, Jameson was casual about uncovering the issues in my marriage that I wanted to keep hidden. Not sure how he put everything together, but he did. Six months after we first met, our innocent flirting turned pointed, even uplifting in a way. He would constantly build me up, telling me over and over that I was enough.
Not enough for him or anyone else, but for me.
In his own unique way, Jameson gave me the strength to be okay with loving myself just the way I am, quirks and all. I didn’t have to conform to Josh’s needs or wants if they didn’t align with my own—which they never did.
And now that amazing man was here.
My past crush working side by side with my current one.
“Fuck,” I muttered to my reflection. “I can’t even keep my heart rate normal with Slade in the room. I’ll turn into a puddle of mush when it’s both of them.” One hand slipped down my neck, fingers wrapping around the base of my throat. “Both of them,” I whispered, licking my lips. “Me between them—”
The familiar vibration of an incoming text jerked me out of losing myself to the very dirty fantasy. Pulling out my cell, I skimmed the text letting me know the body was back at the morgue and waiting for me. Time to get back to work now that I knew for certain my house wouldn’t turn into ground zero for setting the entire state of California on fire.
As I turned to head for the door, my fingers shifted along a texture different from my smooth cell phone case. Pausing, I rotated my hand to see what was stuck back there.
The note.
What if all my worrying projected into the universe and this was from a neighbor wanting to get to know me? Which could be great, but my nose wrinkled at the thought of all the effort it took to build friendships. An extrovert I was not, so starting a flimsy acquaintance with this unknown neighbor sounded exhausting.
Preparing for the worst, I unfolded the notebook paper.
Three words.
That was all it took to erase all concerns of the hypothetical neighbor friendship, douse the smoldering flames the thoughts of Slade, Jameson, and me together stoked, and make me forget all about the dead body waiting for me at the morgue.
I found you
“Damnit,” I whispered, the paper shaking between my fingers.
Was my dad right about being worried for my safety?
Was I in danger?

REVIEW: MINE TO LOVE is the sixth instalment in Kennedy L Mitchell’s contemporary adult PROTECTION erotic, romantic suspense series. This is thirty-eight year old, FBI agent Tallon Harper, and thirty-nine year old, programmer/single mother Remington Dotson’s story line. MINE TO LOVE can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion I recommend reading the series in order, or at the very least book five MINE TO HOLD. Tallon Harper is Tinley Harper’s brother -book five Mine to Hold.

WARNING: Due to the graphic nature of the story line premise, there will be triggers for more sensitive readers.

NOTE: MINE TO LOVE focuses on the relationship between Tallon and Remington but there are several scenes of M/F/M, menage sexual scenarios with Tallon’s friend /Nashville Detective Jameson Bend.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Tallon and Remi) MINE TO LOVE follows the second chance romance and relationship between FBI agent Tallon Harper, and programmer Remington Dotson. Approximately ten years earlier, Remington Dotson spent one glorious night with two men-Tallon Harper and Jameson Bend but the next morning Tallon and Jameson thought Remington had ghosted, and in the aftermath of the kidnapping of his sister Tinley, Tallon forgot about our story line heroine. Fast forward to present day wherein Remington Dotson finds herself the victim of a kidnapping and assault, a kidnapping reminiscent of the abduction of Tinley Harper. Upon her rescue, Remington would come face to face with her past in the guise of FBI Agent Tallon Harper and Detective Jameson Bend, a past she would never forget, even if she tried but Remi’s life continues to spiral out of control, and the two men in life become protector and guardians of the woman with whom Tallon would fall in love. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship between Tallon, Jameson and Remi, and the fall-out as the past refuses to let go, targeting our heroine to finish what was started.

Remington Dotson never forgot about the two men who are currently saving her life but one man in particular is the greatest reminder of their one night together, a night that continues to to be part of our heroine’s life but Remi has suffered greatly at the hands of a serial killer, a killer to refuses to allow Remi to get away. Tallon Harper never thought he would ever see Remington Dotson again, having never known her last name, or where she was from but ten years had passed, Tallon and Jameson went their separate ways, brought together once again by a familiar face, and a ghost from the past.

The relationship between Tallon, Remi and Jameson is a rekindling relationship, one in which Jameson begins to feel like he doesn’t belong. Remi wants both men while in protective custody but her heart is set on the man whose face and eyes she sees every single day. The $ex scenes are intimate, graphic and intense.

We are reintroduced to Tallon’s sister Tinley and her husband Bryce (Mine to Hold), as well as FBI profiler Charlie Bekham (Mine to Keep), and Nashville Detective Jameson Bend. I hope the author has plans for Jameson Bend.

MINE TO LOVE is a story of obsession and vengeance, power and control, murder and torture, acceptance and love. The premise is graphic, detailed, raw and dark; the romance is provocative and seductive; the characters are charismatic and dynamic.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 13, 2021.

An unlikely friendship, a stalking ex, and a serial killer on the loose.

FBI profiler Charlie Bekham prides himself on three unique talents: hacking any database, making women swoon with a cocky smirk, and letting no one see the desperate man buried deep. When a string of murders in Louisville, KY, requires extra help, he’s forced to partner with the brilliant yet shy Special Agent Rhyan Riggs to hunt the killer. Long nights of working the case fan the growing attraction between them, making Charlie question if “just friends” is enough.

Special Agent Rhyan Riggs is running from her past—a narcissistic ex, to be exact. Determined to move on from the terrible breakup, she focuses solely on her career… until him. Special Agent Charlie Bekham. Covered in tattoos, cocky as hell, and bad-boy hot, he’s exactly the type she should avoid at all costs but can’t seem to stay away from.

With more victims and at a dead end, Rhyan does the unthinkable—she puts herself in the killer’s sights. When the killer takes the bait and disappears with the woman Charlie’s fallen for, can he piece together the remaining clues before Rhyan becomes the next body found?

REVIEW:MINE TO KEEP is the fourth instalment in Kennedy L. Mitchell’s contemporary, adult PROTECTION erotic, romantic suspense series. This is thirty-seven year old, FBI profiler Charlie Bekham, and thirty-five year old Special Agent Rhyan Riggs’ storyline. MINE TO KEEP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Charlie was first introduced in book three MINE TO GUARD.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Charlie and Rhyan) MINE TO KEEP follows FBI profiler Charlie Beckham and Special Agent Rhyan Riggs of the Behavioral Science Unit, and a case in Louisville, Kentucky where several women have reportedly committed suicide over the past several months. Believing there was more to the story than was reported, Charlie and Rhyan, head to Kentucky in an effort to uncover the truth but our couple is met with disdain at the Louisville FBI office, and Rhyan will be targeted by a misogynistic agent. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Charlie and Rhyan, and the potential fall-out our couple, with the help of the Agent Bryson Bennett, of an investigation where profilers go everything wrong.

The FBI team’s section chief Carter has targeted both Charlie and Rhyan. Rhyan is equal in status to Carter, but has refused to take control. The rumors around the office make Rhyan the proverbial gossip punching bag, and Charlie finds himself on Carter’s sh*t list for sins of the past. Working together to profile a possible serial killer, Rhyan finds herself wanting something more with our story line hero.

The relationship between Rhyan and Charlie begins as partners but Charlie suspects something dark in Rhyan’s past. Rhyan’s sense of personal self-worth is negligible, and in this, Charlie sets out to prove she is worthy of friendship and love. Days and nights spent working together push our couple together but tracking down a killer means placing one or both in the direct line of fire. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word.

We are introduced to FBI Agent Bryson Bennett, lead detective Steven Hicks, section chief Carter, and Assistant Deputy Director Garr, and via phone Rhyan’s controlling ex Brian, and her bestie Olivia Reynolds. Bryson Bennett’s story line is next in MINE TO HOLD.

MIND TO KEEP is a story of power and control, obsession, vengeance and murder, acceptance and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is intriguing and edgy; the romance is energetic and provocative; the characters are spirited and realistic. My only complaint is the lack of any true closure with the ex-boyfriend story line.

Kennedy lives in Dallas with her husband, son, and 80lb Goldendoodle who still believes he’s a lap dog. A bookworm at heart, Kennedy loves to snuggle up in bed or by the campfire with an unputdownable book. She began writing two years ago with Falling for the Chance and has no plans of stopping. Her novels are witty, action-packed, and offer enough steam for a great facial. If you like strong heroines and sexy, tattooed men who can’t keep their hands off them, then this author is the one for you.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 19, 2021

Being ripped from her mundane life by a swarm of police officers is not what Rae Chapin expected when she woke up this morning. Accused of a series of murders she didn’t commit, Rae doesn’t have anyone to rely on. Except him. Alec Bronson, the popular boy who broke her heart all those years ago—now a smoking hot man—is her only hope of proving her innocence and finding the person eager to kill everyone she loves.

It’s been two decades since Texas Ranger Alec Bronson last saw Rae. He shouldn’t get involved, but with one look at his childhood friend behind the steel bars and her proclamations of innocence, he’s convinced to take the case. The battle to keep his renewed feelings for the curvaceous woman hidden becomes impossible when the true killer emerges once again, targeting the only woman he’s ever loved.

Life-altering secrets are revealed as the evidence mounts, pointing toward the killer who’s determined to make Rae pay for her past. When confronted with the truth, Rae is forced to make a decision.

His life or hers.

If you love a little darkness, murder, and possessive alpha heroes with the need for control mixed into your suspense then this series is for you. Please note this book is for mature readers due to detailed sexual content, foul language, discussion of abuse, and a killer who will stop at nothing.

REVIEW: MINE TO GUARD is the third instalment in Kennedy L Mitchell’s contemporary, adult PROTECTION erotic, romantic suspense series. This is Texas Ranger Alec Bronson, and librarian Rae Chapin’s story line. MINE TO GUARD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous storylines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Alec and Rae) MINE TO GUARD follows the rekindling romance and relationship between Texas Ranger Alec Bronson, and librarian Rae Chapin. Approximately twenty years earlier, Alec Bronson left behind his high school sweetheart, and joined the military in an effort to escape the h*ll back home. Fast forward to present day wherein Texas Ranger Alec Bronson gets a phone call from the woman he has never stopped loving but a woman who is suspected in a series of murders. Enter Sweetcreek librarian Rae Chapin. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Rae and Alec, as Alec and Special Agent / hacker extraordinaire Charlie Bekham begin an investigation of their own into a possible serial killer linked to our story line heroine.

Rae Chapin’s life began to spiral out of control shortly after Alec Bronson left behind a ‘Dear Jane’ letter, a letter that all but destroyed what was left of her heart. The murder of her parents was only the beginning, and in the ensuing years, Rae would be considered the prime suspect in several more. Desperate to prove her innocence, Rae calls in the only man to have broken her heart but a man she knows will be able to find the truth. Alec Bronson’s earlier years were horrific, and shaped the man he would one day become but Alec always believed like father, like son, and refused to place the onus of his upbringing on the woman he loved.

The relationship between Alec and Rae is a second chance romance; a rekindling affair between two people torn apart by dysfunctional family dynamics, and one man’s need to run without looking back. Rae had never stopped loving our story line hero, and in the end believed she was not worthy of love. With issues of low self esteem, Rae struggled to accept that Alec would one day hope for a happily ever after. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Special Agent Charlie Bekham, as well as Alec’s house keeper Sherry, and Sweetcreek Detective Danny.

MINE TO GUARD is a story of obsession and vengeance, family and relationships, abuse, secrets, lies and love. The fast paced premise is powerful and twisted; the characters are dynamic and stubborn; the romance is spicy and provocative.
