Sandy’s Review: RECOVERY ROAD is the eighth instalment in Christine Feehan’s contemporary, adult TORPEDO INK erotic, paranormal romance series a spin off from the author’s Sea Haven/Sisters of the Heart series which in turn is a spin off from the Drake Sisters series. This is Kir ‘Master Vasiliev’, and investment banker Ambrielle Moore’s story line.. SAVAGE ROAD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary
WARNING: RECOVERY ROAD contains graphic reflections of , and makes reference to violence, rape, murder, torture, child prostitution, and abuse against children, women and men, and may not be suitable for more sensitive readers. The violence is a part of the history and lives of the Torpedo Ink crews. The eighteen (plus one) original Torpedo Ink members are the sole survivors of a Russian pedophile ring, and as such work towards rescuing children and women in similar situations.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Master and Ambrielle) RECOVERY ROAD follows in the aftermath of the murder of Ambrielle Moore’s parents. Torpedo Ink has been tracking a group of assassins for hire, assassins working in and out of the prison system. Kir ‘Master’ Vasiliev is their next target, in an effort to take down Viktor Prakenskii aka Czar, President of the Torpedo Ink MC. A killer himself, Master is equal to the task, taking down all four members of an elite killing team but Master’s return to the MC finds our hero focusing on their next assignment, to protect a couple from possible harm. When they realize it is too late, Master must now focus on the woman with whom he will fall in love, a woman who claims Master as her very own. Enter Ambrielle Moore. As Ambrielle and Master navigate the early days of married life, the MC continue to hunt for the people responsible for killing Ambrielle’s family, as well as the ongoing protection of the Czar Prakenskii, his wife and children. What ensues is the quick building relationship between Ambrielle and Master, and the potential fall-out as Master is willing to die to protect the brothers and sisters he has come to call family and friends.
The relationship between Kir and Ambrielle is one of immediate attraction but Kir aka Master believes Ambrielle is only with him until vengeance is served. Ambrielle is desperate to find the people responsible for the murder of her parents but not at the possibility of losing the man with whom she is falling in love. Kir aka Master believes his heart is black; unredeemable in the eyes of his family and most especially with the woman he loves but Ambrielle sees beyond the killer, she sees the boy who has lost so much. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including most of the previous story line couples from all three interconnected series, as well as MMA fighter Reese Fender, and a ghost from the past that has targeted the Torpedo Ink MC.
RECOVERY ROAD is another detailed, complex and heart breaking story line of betrayal and vengeance, abuse and recovery, obsession and acceptance, forgiveness and love. The premise is haunting and gritty; the romance is captivating and intense; the characters are broken, damaged, recovering and lost.

Recovery Road by Christine Feehan is the 8th book in her Torpedo Ink series. Refresher: At the end of the Sea Haven series, Blythe married Viktor (Czar). Czar is the president of Torpedo Ink, and together with the men and women he brought with him to Sea Haven they built their Torpedo Ink MC club in Casper, which is close to Sea Haven. Each of these members have suffered terrible abuse in their childhoods in Russia, being forced to all become lethal assassins; each still very much trying to find the light inside their darkness. They are all determined to protect each other, and also work secretly to save children that have become part of human trafficking, as well as pedophiles.
At the start, we meet Ambrielle (Ambrie), a successful investment banker, who was forced to watch her mother and father murdered, by an evil man and his thugs. The mobster was forcing Ambrie to marry him, and eventually take all their extensive holdings; but Ambrie, who is smart, tough, independent, desperately fought off the attack.
Kir “Master” Vasiliev, is a member of Torpedo Ink, and secretly finds himself burnt out, with his constant going to prison to kill enemies of Torpedo Ink, or find information. Members of Torpedo Ink come to Ambrie’s rescue, with Master helping to protect Ambrie. Angry and grieving, Ambrie is determined to find the people who murdered her parents, desperately wanting revenge. During the battle, Ambrie latches on the Master, and pushes him to marry her, before the mobster comes after her again. Master finds himself drawn to the beautiful Ambrie, and accepts her proposal, to give her safety, and help her get revenge.
Ambrie quickly learns more about the Torpedo Ink club, and meets all the members, as well as their significant others, as she slowly becomes an asset to the club. Master is enamored to his wife, worried that his life style, will cause Ambrie to eventually leave. But she has a mind of her own, helping Master find humanity within, and willing to stand up to Czar in protecting Master. Especially knowing that Czar may need Master again, with the threat of attacks from a past unknown enemy, who put Blythe in danger.
What follows is an exciting and violent adventure, as well as a highly streamy romance between two people who ended up needing each other. This was really a beautiful love story that captured our heart, as I ended up loving both Ambrie and Master, hoping they would stay together. I loved seeing all the Torpedo Ink family; the wonderful members and wives that we have come to love. The Torpedo Ink concept of totally being loyal to each other, and always protecting the innocents, made this such a great series.
Recovery Road was a dark, emotional and steamy story line, which I loved from start to finish. I found this to be the best book yet. Fantastic. Recovery Road was so very well written by Christine Feehan. If you enjoy this series, do not miss this one.
