Callan and Beth were on the verge of becoming high-school sweethearts but the demons from the past interfered, and a promise to a friend drove them apart. Fast forward to present day, Callan is now a professional footballer, Beth Carmichael’s new neighbor, and a young man who is hoping to invest in some high-end real estate but Callan needs a favor from our story line heroine, and a six week arrangement ends with Beth losing her heart to a man who wants nothing more. All is not as it appears to be, Callan’s past refuses to let go; and Beth’s business is about to be targeted by someone’s need for revenge.
The world building follows a betrayal from the past that has affected the Carmichael family, and Callan has been caught in the middle. As Callan struggles with his attraction to Beth, Beth’s own secrets are about to be revealed.
The relationship between Callan and Beth is one of second chances but Callan doesn’t do relationships in the face of his family history, and Beth is falling for a man who struggles to love in return. Beth is hoping for her own happily ever after but Callan struggles to move on from the past.
