Zoe Atkins wanted exactly one thing. To be the world’s greatest percussionist. Instead, she’s on a tour bus engaged in a stupid bet with rock star, Alex King, trying to fill the hole left behind when her dream gave up on her.

The prickly former percussionist wasn’t supposed to steal his heart. With her distrust of lipstick and love of men’s pyjamas, she was everything playboy, Alex, didn’t want in a lover. At least, that’s what he thought when he bet her he could find her a hook up during their tour. Until he’s forced to watch the woman he’s come to desire leave the bar with her perfect guy, taking a piece of his already bruised and battered heart with her.

Now it’s up to the Sad Fridays’ rocker to use his passionate powers of persuasion to convince Zoe he’s more than her wingman. He’s her everything.

A grumpy-sunshine, rockstar romance.

REVIEW: LOVE YOU LIKE THAT is the fourth instalment in Scarlett Cole’s contemporary, adult EXCESS ALL AREAS erotic, rock romance series focusing on the members of the British rock band Sad Fridays. This is thirty-one year old, Sad Fridays’ percussionist Alex King, and percussionist/author assistant Zoe Atkins’ story line. LOVE YOU LIKE THAT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise there may be triggers for more sensitive readers including rope play, bondage, Domination and submission.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Zoe and Alex) LOVE YOU LIKE THAT focuses on the friends to lovers relationship between thirty-one year old, Sad Fridays’ percussionist Alex King, and percussionist/author assistant Zoe Atkins. Zoe Atkins is rapidly losing her hearing, and her career and university degree in music has been placed on hold. Working remotely for a romance author, Zoe had plenty of time to spend with her best friend Cerys, Sad Friday’s music producer, who convinced our heroine to come along on the band’s latest European tour but Zoe never expected to become the focus of the band’s percussionist Alex King, the man with whom Zoe will fall in love. Alex is determined to be Zoe’s wingman, in the hopes of getting our heroine laid but no one is ever good enough, and Alex often struggles in the face of another man’s attraction. Alex is a bit of a manwh*re, whose pansexual lifestyle is fodder for the fans and paparazzi alike but as Alex begins to search for a potential match for our story line heroine, he soon realizes that the only man for Zoe, is quite possibly himself. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Zoe and Alex, and the potential fall out as Alex’s past refuses to let go.

Alex King has a reputation, and he is happy to seduce both men and women, but as Alex and Zoe grow closer together, Alex’s past wants to rekindle what was and what will never be. Zoe Atkins always thought she would have a career in music but never expected to lose her hearing before graduating from university with her music degree. Working as an author’s assistant, Zoe begins to fantasize about the love scenes where Alex and Zoe are the leading couple, a fantasy that is about to come true. As the tour begins to take on a life of its’ own, Alex and Zoe begin to make plans for a more permanent relationship, as Zoe begins to wonder if she will ever play music again.

The relationship between Zoe and Alex is a friends to lovers; a seductive romance in which Alex wants his own happily ever after, having watched as his band mates, friends and family are quickly falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic, and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including the members of Sad Fridays: Matt and Isabel (One Day Like This 1), Jase and Cerys (Next Time I Fall 2), Willow and Luke (How Good it Was 3), as well as Alex’s brother Ben, Chaya, Simon, Ben, Ed and Grandma Nan.

LOVE YOU LIKE THAT is a story of family and relationships, friendships and understanding, obsession and betrayal, happiness and love. The character driven premise is captivating and impassioned; the romance is seductive and intense; the characters are energetic, charismatic and fallible.

The tattoo across my right hip says it all really. A Life Less Ordinary. Inked by the amazingly talented Luke Wessman at the Wooster Street Social Club (a.k.a. New York Ink). Why is it important? Well, it sums up my view on life. That we should all aspire to live a life that is less boring, less predictable. Be bold, and do something amazing. I’ve made some crazy choices. I’ve been a car maker, a consultant, and even a senior executive at a large retailer running strategy. Born in England, spent time in the U.S. and Japan, before ending up in Canada where I met my own, personal hero – all six and a half feet of him. Both of us are scorpios! Yeah, I know! Should have checked the astrological signs earlier, but somehow it works for us. We have two amazing kids, who I either could never part with or could easily be convinced to sell on e-bay.

I’ve wanted to be a writer for a really long time. Check through my office cupboards or my computer and you’ll find half written stories and character descriptions everywhere. Now I’m getting the chance to follow that dream.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release DaTe August 4, 2021.

Venom Kenner is the lead singer of Dirt Cherry, a band well known for their dirty lyrics and larger-than-life antics. With heart-stopping good looks, loving parents, and becoming famous at a young age, Venom is used to getting whatever he wants, whenever he wants it‑-and he wants Jenna.

Jenna Demptation’s life has been one hardship after another. When her older sister becomes the PR manager for Dirt Cherry and strong-arms Jenna to help for the summer, Jenna is happy to get away from her crappy day-to-day life. Until too-good-looking-to-be-real Venom sets his sights on Jenna and sets her nerves into overdrive. Jenna makes an art of shying away from Mr. Hot-Pants McHottie. She has been hurt way too much in the past to trust anyone, far less someone as perfect as Venom, so she’s determined to keep their relationship completely professional, despite their sizzling chemistry.

But Venom knows in his heart this relationship is worth a shot and he’s not going to let a little thing like hesitancy get in his way

•••••••

REVIEW: ROCK STEADY is the first instalment in MJ Roberts’ contemporary, adult KENNER BROTHERS erotic, rock romance series, and the sixth instalment in the author’s ROCK HARD series. This is thirty-one year old,  lead singer for Dirt Cherry Venom Kenner, and twenty-three  year old, nursing student/PR promoter Jenna Demptation’s story line. ROCK STEADY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. You do not have to have read any of the previous story lines.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jenna and Venom) ROCK STEADY focuses on the building romance and relationship between Dirt Cherry’s lead singer Venom Kenner, and nursing student Jenna Demptation. Venom Kenner fell in love with Jenna Demptation the first time they met but Jenna continued to avoid our hero, freezing him out when ever he wanted to talk. Working alongside her sister Kate (Rock Harder) on the PR for the all of the bands on the tour, Jenna finds herself focusing on our hero, the man with whom she will fall in love but Jenna struggles with demons from her past, believing she is unworthy of a man such as Venom Kenner. With the approach of a new school year, Jenna is about to enter nursing school while the band continues their concert tour in Mexico and Texas. Time apart forces Jenna to think about her future, a future that may or may not include our story line hero. What ensues is the building but trepidatious relationship between Jenna and Venom, as our couple must navigate the pitfalls of fame, and time spent apart of their chosen professions.

Jenna Demptation’s past continues to control her present, and in this, she is distrustful of men including rock star Venom Kenner. Venom is a rock god; a sexy, beautiful singer, a man Jenna believes is too good to be true. Jenna suffers with issues of low self esteem, believing she is not worthy of Venom’s love but Venom is desperate to prove she is worthy, pulling out all of the proverbial stops in his seduction of Jenna Demptation. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Venom’s ‘brothers’,  the members of Dirt Cherry: Over-Kill, Knife-Edge, Clay, and Hair-Trigger, as well as the return of Kate and Jace (Rock Harder), and several members from the other bands.

ROCK STEADY is a story of family, friendships and relationships. We learn about Jenna’s horrific past, and the Kenner ‘brothers’ family of foundlings and love. The premise is engaging and captivating; the romance is seductive and hot; the characters are animated, a little broken, but healing.

My only complaint, is the abrupt ending. I actually went back and forth in the book, to determine if I was missing something or there was a formatting error. Something was missing, there was no build up to the final two epilogues.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 27, 2021

All I wanted was a chance. Now I need a second one.

Jack
When I made my deal with the devil, I thought I was on my way to my rock ’n’ roll dream. Too bad I didn’t read the fine print. Having it all meant giving up the only girl I knew I’d ever love. Five years later, I’m drumming in the hottest rock band in the country, but I live like a monk.

Fate hands me an opportunity to reconnect with my perfect girl, giving me one glorious night with Clio Barnes. Our chemistry is off the charts. Too bad fate plays by her own rules. When Clio hears my bandmate’s idea of a joke, she believes I’ve used her, dissolved our love into a one-night stand, and she blows out of my life. When our tour ends, I’m determined to find her again, no matter how well she hides from me.

Clio
All my life, I’ve been invisible. For a brief moment five years ago, Jack Whitehorse saw me. And he made me feel like the center of his universe. But that was an illusion. Music was Jack’s only love. A chance encounter after a Balefire concert allows us to reconnect, but once again, I’m playing second fiddle to his rock ’n’ roll muse.

When the pregnancy test comes back positive, I decide to keep our baby secret. I can’t force Jack to play for me—I wouldn’t want to. Then he shows up unexpectedly one day, knocking on my door and demanding to be let in. He leaves me no choice but to tell him about the baby. Turns out, I wasn’t the only one with a secret. But the one he’s been keeping might end us for good.

REVIEW:PLAY FOR ME is the first instalment in Tam DeRudder Jackson’s contemporary, new adult BALEFIRE erotic, romance series focusing on the members of the rock band Balefire. This is Balefire drummer Jack Whitehorse, and nursing student Clio Barnes’ story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Clio and Jack) PLAY FOR ME follows the second chance romance between Balefire drummer Jack Whitehorse, and nursing student Clio Barnes. At the age of eighteen, Jack Whitehorse found himself at a crossroads when his signed away his life for a future as a drummer with the bank Rude Awakening but it was Jack who got the rude awakening when he discovered the fine print forced his hand, walking away from the girl that he loved. Fast forward two years wherein Jack, now the drummer for the band Balefire, would come face to face with his past, Clio Barnes, but the possibility of reconciliation and a future together evaporated with a phone call, and the woman he loved, walking away. Another year would pass before Jack would walk back into Clio’s life, a life now changed by the arrival of their daughter, a child he knew nothing about but his attempts at normalcy are destroyed when the band heads out on the road leaving behind the woman he loves. Months would pass without contact until Clio is threatened with the loss of everyone she loves.

The relationship between Clio and Jack is a rekindling romance, a romance destroyed by discrimination and threats, secrets and lies, and a total lack of communication. Months and years would pass before Jack had any contact with the woman he loved, then months would pass again, before he dropped back into her life. Clio, desperate for the affection and approval of the man that she loved would forgive and forget, then find herself alone, once again. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Clio’s friends Annabelle Bailey Saunders, and Stacy Newhouse; the members of the band Balefire: Blu Connolly, Adam Tron, and Dakota Perri, as well as Clio’s parents Harrison and Meredith Barnes. Blu Connolly’s story is next in SING FOR ME.

PLAY FOR ME is a story of family, betrayal, secrets and lies; a story of lack of communication, forgiveness, love and happily ever after. The character driven premise is fast paced, engaging and emotional; the romance is seductive but heart breaking; the characters are stubborn and energetic but I struggled with Jack’s numerous absences in our heroine’s life. Jack never once contacted Clio while out on tour, leaving her to raise their daughter on her own, knowing full well she had no familial or financial support. No phone calls, no emails, no text messages, no help…this is not the epitome of a man in love but a man so consumed by stardom and music, he ‘forgets’ about his child, his woman, and his responsibilities at home-definitely not a hero worthy of a second chance. I love the premise but I disliked the actions of Jack Whitehorse.

She took one step before stopping. A smile tugged at the corner of her mouth, the same corner I’d kissed earlier, and I fought the urge to stand and capture that mouth again. Her smile broadened, though there was pain in her eyes.“Colin is a cool kid. You’re a good dad, Graham. I always knew you would be.”

She might as well have stabbed me in the chest.

“Thanks,” I said, watching as she walked away.

Fuck me.

When had I never loved that woman?

Maybe that kiss had woken me up. Maybe it had made me realize how goddamn lonely I’d been without her. I had Colin, but there was a corner of my heart that would always belong to Quinn.

I should have followed her nine years ago.
Because now it was too late.

The relationship between Cooper and Teagan is a best friends to lovers, Brooklyn Dawn bandmates wherein their forced time together pushes the couple closer together. Cooper Dallas has lusted after his best friend for as long as he can remember but Teagan has been oblivious to the sparks between our leading couple. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic, spontaneous and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar secondary and supporting characters including all of the members of Brooklyn Dawn: Lead singer Lindsey York (Alex Nash), lead guitarist Jamie DuCaine, rhythm guitarist Zane Landry, bass guitarist Oz Taylor, and stylist Daisy Flannigan; Roth Defense specialist Noah Jordan, and Cole Riggs, Ripper Records executives CEO Donovan Lewis, and Lila Ronson Shawcross Crandall and her husband Nick (Oblivion), and several members of from the other bands at Ripper Records including Ricki (Warning Sign), Michael Shawcross (Warning Sign), and Deacon McCoy (Oblivion).

PLAY MINE is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love. A story of betrayal and vengeance, threats and protection. The fast paced premise is powerful and emotional; the romance is seductive and captivating; the characters are dynamic and charismatic. PLAY MINE ends on a happily ever after-for now as the conflict has yet to be resolved.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 17, 2020

Six years.
Seventy-two months.
Over two thousand days.
That’s what I’d dedicated to that guitar-playing a*sehole, Danny Silver.
Now I, Daisy Piper, was left to pick up the wreckage of his love while he ran off with the band to find fortune and fame.

Life went on without him, and a new man soon rescued me from the ashes of Danny, but a part of my heart remained a little broken, no matter who tried to fix it. First loves can’t be forgotten so easily, and when Danny returned to our small hometown in Devon—famous and adored by millions—I couldn’t stop myself from wanting to get a glimpse of the man I’d once laid beside, to see how much he’d changed.

The smallest actions make for the biggest mistakes, and a single look into Danny’s eyes was all it took before I ran. I ran because the spark that came to life inside felt dangerous, and I wasn’t the kind of girl who enjoyed getting burnt twice.

But running from a rock star isn’t as easy as I thought it would be, and with Danny’s sights now firmly set on me again, all I could do was pray that he got bored of the chase. That he thought life in Devon was too slow for him, and that he craved the bright lights of the city, as well as the noise of the stadium.

If he didn’t, I was about to ruin everything for everyone.

Especially myself, and my stupid little Silver-lined heart.

REVIEW:Ghost Note begins with long time couple Danny Silver and Daisy Piper out for a walk along the shore. The last thing that Daisy ever expected was for Danny to tell her he was leaving to pursue a music career with his fellow bandmates. Broken hearted, Daisy does the only thing she can……….she runs.

Years later, Daisy finds herself in a pretty good place. She has a gift shop that does well and enjoys the tourists who stroll in and out. She also has a male friend, Ben, with whom she sees regularly. Her anchor, though, is her best friend, Gina, who also happens to be her silent business partner. Gina was also the one who helped put Daisy back together after Danny left and he hasn’t been seen in their hometown since.

Daisy and Gina are together, later, when Gina receives a phone call. Daisy immediately knows something is wrong. Gina tells her that Danny’s grandmother has passed away, which upsets Daisy. They had been close for years, but what infuriates Daisy more is the fact that she knows he won’t show up for the funeral……..because he didn’t even come for his parents’ services.

Daisy and Gina attend the service and then later go to a small gathering. As they sit having a drink, Jackson, Gina’s little brother, runs in with some big news of his own: the one and only Danny Silver is indeed in town. Daisy feels everyone’s eyes on her and the news is delivered. Finding herself a bit overwhelmed by the attention, she leaves and heads out. She later is so restless that she decides to walk down to the beach for some fresh air. She is sitting alone when she sees someone headed towards her. Yep, Danny Silver. The encounter doesn’t go well and Daisy makes her way back home.

Of course, with her hometown being so small, she was bound to run into Danny. And, she did. However, when he finally convinces her to talk to him, things that she thought she knew ended up being a little more complicated than she had ever known. She now finds herself doubting everything that she thought she knew not only about Danny, but about her heart.

Ghost Note is a wonderfully written story of second chances. Daisy and Danny are both wonderfully written. The two had been together since they were fourteen, so the breakup was hard on them both. They had both tried to move on from each other, but when it is revealed that they both had failed spectacularly, you feel your heart melt just a little more. They have mega chemistry, but when truths are revealed and Daisy sees what could have been, and gets a taste of it? It. Is. Palpable. The secondary characters are well written and intriguing as well. I had no idea this is a series, but can totally be read as a stand alone. I will go back and read the previous stories though, because Ghost Note was that good. If you’re a fan of the genre, you’ll not go wrong with this one. Well done, Vicki James!
