ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 11, 2022

She is his wrath.
His vengeance…
I kidnapped my enemy’s sister on his wedding day,
And put my ring on her finger
As punishment for a twisted plot that killed my father.

The Malikov Bratva stole everything from me.
Now it’s time to take it all back,
And my gorgeous captive holds the key to my future.

But Tori is fierce, ruthless, and vengeful.
She fights me like a hellcat,
Always resisting her fate,
And disobeying my strict rules.

I punish her defiance at every turn,
Unable to resist making her the star of my dark and devious games.
The more she struggles,
The more powerful I become.

I ruined her life to possess her.
And I will destroy anyone who tries to take her from me.
She is my pawn.
My life.
My wife.

REVIEW: CRUEL CAPTOR is the third instalment in Kristen Luciani’s contemporary, adult VENGEFUL VILLAINS dark, erotic, Bratva romance series. This is twenty-five year old, Bratva princess/ romance writer Viktorya ‘Tori’ Malikov, and disgraced Bratva enforcer/heir Konstantin Romanov aka Mikhail Federov’s story line. CRUEL CAPTOR can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an ongoing story line throughout.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Tori and Konstantin/Mikhail CRUEL CAPTOR follows in the aftermath of the collapse of the Federov Bratva empire. Mikhail Federov demands revenge, retribution and reprisal in the wake of betrayal by, and the murder of his abusive father, a murder that set into motion the downfall of the Federov empire. Seeking vengeance Mikhail, now known as Konstantin Romanov kidnaps Viktorya Malikov, with the intention of claiming our heroine as his wife but all does not go according to plan when a feisty and well-trained Tori continues to battle the man with whom she will fall in love. There are more than two families warring for control of the once powerful Federvo Bratva, pitting the Malikov crime family against everyone involved. What ensues is the acrimonious but building relationship between Tori and Konstantin, and the potential fall-out as betrayal from within sets into motion a potential war from all sides.

The relationship between Tori and Konstantin is an enemies to lovers; a forced proximity relationship in which Tori is quick to find herself falling for her sexy captor. Tori is well trained in the ability to protect herself but no training is going to protect her heart against the man with whom she will fall in love. Konstantin Romanov seeks only revenge against the family that destroyed what was left of his organization, an organization that quickly collapsed with the death of his father, and a betrayal of trust. Marrying Tori means a second chance at power and control but there is someone else waiting to assume a position at the top. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

The secondary and supporting characters include Konstantin’s brother Gregor, and their head of security Lev, as well as the return of Alek Severinov, Nik, Luka and Taras Malikov. The requisite evil is familiar.

CRUEL CAPTOR is a story of betrayal and vengeance, submission and acceptance, death and destruction, power and control. The premise is dark and dramatic; the romance turbulent and hot; the characters are broken, dynamic and struggling to survive. CRUEL CAPTOR ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

STALK THE DARKNESS (Guardians of Eternity 19) by Alexandra Ivy

STALK THE DARKNESS (Guardians of Eternity 19) by Alexandra Ivy-a review

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 2, 2022.

Becoming a vampire nearly killed Satin. After decades in hiding to reach fighting strength, she swore never to be weak again. Instead, she flings herself into the joys of life. Like “combat practice” with Marco, the owner of the wildest club outside of Chicago. Getting a workout with the sizzling Were is the ultimate no-strings-attached pleasure. Until a chaos-strewing demon leaves Satin with an impossible, infuriating diagnosis: Vampires don’t get pregnant.

Marco prides himself on being the perfect Were—strong, savage, and barely housetrained. But with Satin gone on her mysterious quest, he’s compelled to follow. This raven-haired warrior might be his mate for all eternity. But a dark presence hovers around her. If Marco and Satin can’t solve its riddle in time, there won’t be any future to worry about . . .

•••••

REVIEW: STALK THE DARKNESS is the nineteenth full-length instalment in Alexandra Ivy’s contemporary, adult GUARDIANS OF ETERNITY fantasy/paranormal romance series. This is vampire Satin, and club owner/Were Marco’s story line. STALK THE DARKNESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from third person perspective STALK THE DARKNESS follows vampire Satin, as she is tasked by Styx, the Anasso (leader of the vampires) to search and rescue the gargoyle Levet’s missing Aunt Bertha but a fling with Marco, the Were club owner, leaves our heroine with the impossible, a pregnancy that finds Marco never leaving her side. As Satin and Marco go on the hunt for Aunt Bertha, something evil and dark is slowly surrounding and manifesting as our story line heroine, and pushing her to return to where her life as both a human and vampire began. What ensues is the hunt for Aunt Bertha, and the search for the truth about Satin’s past.

Meanwhile, our intrepid little gargoyle Levet and the powerful, imp-likeTroy find themselves ordered by Styx to locate Satin and Marco, as the couple are no longer on the Anasso’s magical, proverbial radar but Levet and Troy will ultimately land in the netherworld, between Earth and H*ll, and their search for an escape brings them up close and personal with our story line heroine.

The relationship between Marco and Satin begins as a frenemies with benefits as Marco club allows for fights and fraternizing, something at which both Marco and Satin excel. A were pregnancy is rare, a vampire pregnancy is rarer, a pregnancy between a vampire and were is virtually unreal, and in this, Marco is desperate to protect the woman he wants to claim as his mate, and the child she carries, within. The $ex scenes are limited but aggressive and intense.

The secondary and supporting characters include the Anasso Styx, and his vampire wife Darcy; the Were King Salvator, as well as vampire Chiron; Levet’s Aunt Bertha, Levet and Troy; several supernatural and paranormal creatures, and King of the Underworld Hades.

STALK THE DARKNESS is a story of desperation and acceptance; family and relationships, magic and darkness, fate and love. The fast paced premise is entertaining and exciting; the characters are powerful and energetic; the romance is limited as the couple spends most of their time on the hunt.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 7, 2022.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a playboy wants a one-night stand… No strings attached.

Gabriel Hill dates someone new every night. Glamorous parties and smoke-filled clubs. He has no interest in the prim little baker. Until he finds out she’s connected to his family’s downfall.

He wants information. Revenge. And worst of all, he wants Elise Bettencourt in his bed. Again and again and again.

There’s no future between them.

A woman who’s fought to build a new life for herself.

And the man who will bring it all down.

••••

REVIEW:POWER PLAY is the first instalment in Amelia Wilde’s contemporary, adult, dark, romance series focusing on businessman Gabriel Hill, and twenty year old bakery owner Elise Bettencourt. POWER PLAY is a spin off from , and set in the author’s WEALTH Trilogy. POWER PLAY can be read as a stand alone but for backstory and history, I recommend reading the WEALTH trilogy. Gabriel Hill is the older brother of Mason Hill (Wealth).

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Gabriel and Elise) POWER PLAY focuses on Gabriel Hill’s hunger for revenge. Approximately fourteen years earlier Gabriel, along with his siblings Mason, Jameson and Remy lost everything the night their parents were murdered in a house fire, and Gabriel is determined to seek revenge against the people he believes responsible for their deaths. A group of elite and questionable businessman, known as the Consortium, a group in which his father was a member, is Gabriel’s target but Gabriel needs an ‘in’ and using Elise Bettencourt, the daughter of the man in charge, is his first step in destroying them all. Gabriel Hill despises Elise Bettencourt for her family connections but Gabriel has no idea as to the extent of Elise’s knowledge about what happened or why. What ensues is the tempestuous and emotional relationship between Elise and Gabriel, and the fall-out as heart break and denial force Elise to take a stand against everyone involved.

Gabriel Hill raised his younger siblings in the wake of the murder of their mother and father, a murder that left the family struggling to survive but Gabriel has been planning his revenge for close to fifteen years, and in this, Gabriel’s only focus is retribution and reprisal, at any cost. Using Elise Bettencourt meant opening the window to his past, a past that is dark and not meant for public consumption. Elise Bettencourt walked away from everything at eighteen years old but beneath the pretty façade of a wealthy and happy family, Elise knew the truth including the ugliness of what was and what will never be. Working with Gabriel Hill to take down her father means getting revenge for herself, as well.

The relationship between Gabriel and Elise is turbulent and combative. Gabriel doesn’t care who he hurts in his need for revenge, and Elise is a pawn to get what he wants. Falling for Elise was never his intention; telling her about his past meant revealing a truth that was distressing and hard; pushing Elise further adds to his pain and need for revenge. Elise Bettencourt found herself falling for a man whose needs she would never be able to control but opening her heart meant opening to a man who was about to destroy her in the process. The $ex scenes are intimate and aggressive.

We are introduced to Elise’s sisters Catherine and Lydia, and their parents; Gabriel’s siblings Mason and his wife Charlotte (WEALTH), Jameson, and Remy; Jacob Chambers, as well as several members of The Consortium.

POWER PLAY is a story of betrayal, power and control, secrets and lies, murder and vengeance, heart break and passion. The premise is captivating and enthralling; the characters are broken, determined and charismatic; the romance is cruel, intense and contentious. POWER PLAY ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned. Gabriel and Elise’s story continues in BAD INFLUENCE.

A SENSE OF DANGER (Section 47 #1) by Jennifer Estep-Dual Review & Giveaway

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo / Google Play /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 16, 2021

A SPY . . .

My name is Charlotte Locke, and I’m an analyst for Section 47, a secret government agency that tracks terrorists, criminals, and other paramortal bad guys who want to unleash their abilities on an unsuspecting mortal world. I have a magical form of synesthesia that senses danger and uncovers lies—making me a stealthy operative.

I’m trudging through another day when one of Section’s cleaners—assassins—takes an interest in me. I don’t need my synesthesia to realize that he is extremely dangerous and that he will do anything to achieve his goals—even if it means putting me in the line of fire.

. . . AND AN ASSASSIN

I’m Desmond Percy, one of Section 47’s most lethal cleaners. I’m also a man on a mission, and I need Charlotte Locke’s skills to help me keep a promise, settle a score, and kill some extremely bad people.

Charlotte might not like me, but we’re stuck together until my mission is over. Still, the more time we spend together, the more I’m drawn to her. But at Section 47, you never know who you can trust—or who might want you dead.

Sandy’s Review

A SENSE OF DANGER is the first instalment in Jennifer Estep’s contemporary, adult SECTION 47 paranormal, urban fantasy series focusing on paramortal analyst / diner waitress for Section 47 Charlotte Locke, and assassin/cleaner Desmond Percy.

SOME BACKGROUND: Paramortals make up approximately one percent of the world’s population, and most have hidden their magic from the ‘mortal’ world. Section 47 is a paramortal spy organization whose mission was to gather intelligence to prevent terrorist attacks but found themselves tracking those who use magic to commit their crimes.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Charlotte and Desmond) A SENSE OF DANGER focuses on the take down of a paramortal bio-terrorist, and the search for a mole within Section 47. Charlotte Locke is a legacy member at Section 47, meaning her father, and grandmother were previously employed by Section 47. As an analyst Charlotte has the ability to read patterns and numbers and sense danger but as a human lie detector Charlotte knows when someone may or may not be telling the truth. Upon the death of her boss, Charlotte is reassigned as a liason, working with the Section’s latest arrival, cleaner and assassin Desmond Percy, whose own father continues to make a name for himself at Section 47. Desmond is on the hunt for a paramortal bio-terrorist but his every move is met with counter terrorism and resistance such that his last mission left him struggling to survive. With the help of Charlotte Locke, Desmond is hunting down the person responsible but struggles to trust the woman with whom he is falling in love as Charlotte’s secrets run dangerous and dark. What ensues is the set up and take down of a mole within the Section 47 organization, and the potential fall-out as Desmond believes Charlotte has been compromised but Charlotte has bigger plans when all is revealed.

Jennifer Estep introduces a number of players in the world of Section 47 including some of the backstory and history of Charlotte’s legacy connections, and Desmond’s father General Jethro Percy. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters giving the series a familiarity not unlike the author’s Elemental Assassin. We are introduced to cleaner supervisor Gia Chan, and ‘secretary’ Evelyn Hawkes, former Section 47 spy Gabriel Chase, as well as charmer Miriam Lancaster, charmer supervisor Trevor Donnelly, Russian paramortal Adrian Anatoly, and CEO and founder of Hyde Engineering Henrika Hyde.

A SENSE OF DANGER is a fast paced, intriguing, action packed story of betrayal and vengeance, power and magic, obsession, murder, greed and excess. The premise is captivating and compelling; the characters are energetic and enterprising; the romance is seductive and passionate.

___________

Barb’s Review:

A Sense of Danger by Jennifer Estep is the 1st book in her new Section 47 series.  I am a big fan of Jennifer Estep, having enjoyed all her fantastic series.  I was thrilled to learn that she was starting a new series, and after reading the first book, I can’t wait for more.

Secret 47 is a secret government agency that handles paranormal, terrorists, criminals, and have magical abilities.  Their job is to gather information to prevent attacks, casualties, as well as to protect the mortal world; especially against those who create dangerous weapons.

Charlotte Locke, our heroine, is an analyst, who is very good at her job analyzing various reports and files to find mistakes, patterns, and anything that looks like threats.  Charlotte also has some magical abilities, such as having synesthesia ability to sense danger and detect lies. Charlotte followed her grandmother and father who were Section 47 employees, and she is considered a legacy employee, since her family (now deceased) were former employees.  Charlotte has been providing information to her superiors about an evil and dangerous woman (Henrika Hyde), who is building and selling horrific weapons to the enemy.

Desmond Percy, our hero, is a Section 47 Assassin (cleaners), who is considered one of the best and lethal. Desmond is also a legacy employee, as his father is a powerful member and very much in charge of Section 47. Desmond has returned to headquarters in Washington, DC for a special assignment, but also determined to find the person responsible for killing his teammates from his last assignment.

When Charlotte is having lunch, she sees a strange man sit at her table, but she totally ignores him, and he eventually walks away. Charlotte is very much in debt, due to her father death and loss of money, and takes a night time second job as a waitress. After closing, she heads home only to be accosted by 4 assassins who are out to kill her; she is attacked, but out of nowhere, another powerful assassin manages to kill the attackers, and he takes her to her home, and uses his energy magic to heal her injuries.  Of course, her savior is Desmond, who has galvanist abilities, which uses energy around him to prevent attacks, as well as heal.

Charlotte wakes up healed, and in a short time will learn that Desmond was the one who saved her, and despite her original dislike of him, she will soon be placed on his team to work together; especially since she is the one who knows everything about the enemy.   Their job is to find Henrika Hyde, and stop her from selling her weapons, as well as find the terrorist who was behind the attack on Desmond’s team.

What follows is an exciting, action filled, suspenseful story that kept me unable to put the book down. Charlotte was a great heroine, as she not only smart, savvy, but unbeknownst to others, lethal with a weapon, since she learned from her father.  I also liked Desmond, as he was not only a sexy hunk, but also very confident with his ability.   It took time for them to trust each other, but the chemistry between them was hot; which was a slow burn romance.

Charlotte stepped up to find a traitor within Section 47, even if it put her own life in danger.  The last third of the book was extremely tense and exciting, with a few surprises along the way. Since she took it upon herself to expose the traitor, her relationship with Desmond suffered, as he thought she betrayed him.  I will not tell too much more, as it would be spoilers, but it was a wild satisfying ending.

A Sense of Danger is another wonderful new intriguing urban fantasy series that is very well written by Jennifer Estep.  I loved both Charlotte and Desmond, and look forward to more on them in future books.   I suggest you read A Sense of Danger, as I fully enjoyed it.

REVIEW:CHAOTIC is the second instalment in KL Savage’s contemporary, adult RUTHLESS ASYLUM erotic, dark, romance series-a spin off from the author’s RUTHLESS KINGS MC series. This is the continuing story of Chloe/Jessica Jone’s and Zain Rolands. CHAOTIC should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events of book one LUNATIC.

WARNING: CHAOTIC deals with issues of mental health, abuse and murder. Due to the graphic violence and nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

SOME BACKGROUND: The Ruthless Kings MC purchased a former asylum in an effort to contain a violent assassin who targeted the members of the MC. With the return of Reaper’s uncle Zain, the asylum will become home to Zain, and a number of former asylum inmates with no place to call home.

Told from three first person perspectives (Zain, Chloe, Jessica) CHAOTIC continues to follow the unusual relationship between Zain Roland and Chloe/Jessica Jones. Chloe Jones suffers with DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) and as such Zain never quite knows which woman he loves but Chloe is desperate to contact her father, and in doing so, sets into motion a series of events that lead to Chloe’s recapture, and commitment to another institution, a hospital where the people in charge, are sicker than the patients they control. Determined and frantic to rescue the woman he loves, Zain calls in help from the Ruthless Kings MC, leaving a trail of dead and battered bodies in their wake.

CHAOTIC is another quick read; a novella length story line focusing on mental illness, abuse, desperation and love. Zain struggles with bi-polar disorder and spends most of the story line manic and wild. Chloe endures several episodes and attacks that reveal a appearance of new personalities, personalities meant to protect our heroine when everything goes wrong. The premise is disturbing, dark and startling-KL Savage pulls the reader into a world of madness and mayhem; the characters are desperate, frantic, lost and uncontrolled; the relationship is unconventional and unusual.

REVIEW:DARE TO TEASE is instalment 4.5 in Carly Phillips’ contemporary, adult DARE NATION erotic, romance series focusing on the Dare/Prescott family- a spin off from the author’s DARE TO LOVE series. This is physician Dr. Hudson Northfield, and sports agent Brianne Prescott’s story line. DARE TO TEASE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. You do not have to have read the previous series to understand or follow the current timeline but like the original series, there is a back story involving the Dare family, and by extension, the Prescott family as well.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Brianne and Hudson) DARE TO TEASE follows the building romance and relationship between physician Dr. Hudson Northfield, and sports agent Brianne Prescott. Hudson Northfield is one of the team physicians with the Miami Thunder, the team owned and operated by the large Dare/Prescott family. Having recently served alongside Braden Prescott in Doctors Without Borders, Hudson’s return to America comes with demands from his family, and the attraction to Braden’s twin sister Brianne Prescott. With the approach of his cousin’s wedding in New York, Hudson invites Brianne to spend the weekend, but more importantly as a buffer between Hudson and his immediate family. Needing something from his father, Hudson is stunned with the prevailing conditions, conditions he refuses to place upon the woman with whom he is falling in love. What ensues is the quick building romance and relationship between Hudson and Brianne, and the fall-out as Hudson’s secret is about to be revealed.

The relationship between Brianne and Hudson is a best friend’s sister relationship; a friends to lovers romance in which Hudson and Brianne both know what they want but Brianne’s well meaning family, and Hudson’s cold and distant father begin to build barriers between our leading couple. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense, without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Brianne’s siblings: Austin and Quinn, Jaxon and Macy, Braden and Willow, Damon and Evie; Hudson’s parents Martin and Lucille Northfield; Miami Thunder owner Ian Dare.

DARE TO TEASE is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love; a story of secrets and lies, revelations and acceptance. The premise is captivating; the romance is seduction; the characters are strong-willed, dynamic and charismatic.

“What are you thinking about?” he asked.
Their faces were close together as they spoke, creating a bubble of intimacy and making it easier to be honest. “About how much I admire you. How you could be on the money train with your family in New York, but instead you’re all about giving back. I like that about you.” She studied his expression and the look in his eyes. “What’s wrong? Something’s bothering you.”
“You’ve come to read me well in a very short time,” he said on a low chuckle. “I do have an issue to deal with while I’m home.”
She reached out and clasped their hands together. Her palms felt better now that it had been a few days since she’d fallen, and the bandages made it easier to do things. Like hold hands. “I’m a good listener … if you want to unload your problems.”
He hesitated, obviously weighing his words. “You know the plans for the clinic Braden mentioned the day he walked in on us?”
She nodded. In the rush of her sudden trip, buying a dress, packing, and making sure her clients were covered by another PR person if she wasn’t reachable, she’d forgotten to ask either man about it since.
“Braden and I want to renovate and remodel the clinic into a state-of-the-art place where people who don’t have access to insurance or good care can still come in and get treated. As it stands now, the equipment is old, the building run-down, and it’s hard to entice professionals to come work there.”
“I love that idea!”
“Obviously so do I. Braden’s going to talk to Paul Dare about funding, and I need to have the same conversation with my father. My grandfather left me money in trust, but he also made my father the trustee, and it’s at his discretion whether or not to let me have money from the principal.”
She realized he’d begun tapping a foot against the floor, his knee bouncing up and down with every contact. “You’re really wound up about this, aren’t you?”

REVIEW: FIGHTING FOR YOU is the fifth instalment in Monica Murphy’s contemporary, young adult THE CALLAHANS erotic, romance series focusing on the second generation of the Callahans and their extended family and friends-a spin off from the author’s ONE WEEK GIRLFRIEND series. This is high school seniors Diego Garcia, and Jocelyn Douglas’ story line. FIGHTING FOR YOU can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as Jocelyn and Diego’s story begins in book three ADDICTED TO HIM.

NOTE: FIGHTING FOR YOU is a young adult story line ( characters under eighteen years of age) with adult sexual situations including a teenaged pregnancy, that may not be suitable for more younger readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jocelyn and Diego) FIGHTING FOR YOU follows in the aftermath of Jocelyn’s discovery that she is pregnant with her ex-boyfriend Diego’s baby, and with it the realization that she may have lost Diego, forever. Diego is a star player on his high school football team, and as such laps up the praise and attention of the female student body but Jocelyn and Diego’s relationship had hit a bumpy road, and with hit, the school girls threw themselves at our hero, ensuring his reputation and conquests found the ear of our story line heroine. Having loved and lost, Jocelyn struggled with issues of trust, and one final threat to her relationship with Diego meant Jocelyn was willing to go it alone. Months will pass before Diego and Jocelyn reconnect for the sake of their child but the months were heart breaking for our story line hero. What ensues is the back and forth, struggling relationship between Jocelyn and Diego, and the fall-out as dysfunctional family dynamics, secrets and lies, manipulation and vindictiveness threaten any potential future for our story line couple.

Diego Garcia is and was the proverbial high school football star, feeding his ego and reputation by flirting with every available girl but Diego’s actions are about to destroy the one true love and relationship he has ever known, and with it the possibility of seeing the child he may never know. Struggling with a dysfunctional home life, Diego makes a permanent break, and finds himself alone for the very first time. Jocelyn Douglas comes from a wealthy and connected family but our heroine’s reputation is destroyed by a teenaged pregnancy, and the antics of a mean –girl who is determined to take down our story line heroine. Believing she and her child are better off without Diego Garcia, Jocelyn finds herself a single parent but a parent missing the man she will always love.

The relationship between Jocelyn and Diego is a high school romance broken by the desperation of a high school bully, and the teenaged pregnancy of two students too young to commit to anything beyond the present. Diego Garcia has never stopped loving our story line heroine, and in this, the truth about the rumors continue to fuel the rage and heart break of the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are passionate and intimate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of familiar secondary and supporting characters: Drew and Fable Callahan (One Week Girlfriend); Eli Bennett and Ava Callahan: fellow football players Caleb, Wyatt and Tony: Jocelyn’s friend Ellie, and Jackson Rivers; Diego’s long suffering mother Rosa, his brother Mateo, their cousin Marty; Jocelyn’s parents, as well as mean girl and bully Cami Lockhart.

FIGHTING FOR YOU is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love; of betrayal and vengeance; secrets and lies; abuse, manipulation, teenage pregnancy, rumors and heart break. The premise is emotional and dramatic; the romance is fated but destructive; the characters are broken, sensational and struggling.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 8, 2021

Love is a powerful force, but it doesn’t compare to guilt.
And just like most people, my guilt eats me alive.

I went from being an irresponsible kid who didn’t know any better to an irresponsible man who does.I make no apologies.Don’t take my carelessness for strength. My blood is as deadly as the bullet that killed my brother, and once I’m cut, there’s no stopping the river of rage.
My past is dead. I’m not like my MC brothers. Nothing is going to come bite me in the ass.
Or so I thought.

Because life gave me Mary, the little hellraiser who tries to be reckless. She’s only looking to escape the nightmare of what happened to her in Atlantic City. She’s a good girl. The kind to wear pearls and fancy cardigans. She doesn’t belong in this life.Even if I know she belongs with me.She paints her lips in red lipstick, but I know it’s an effort to hide the pain. There’s more than the fact we are too different to be together.

Her past isn’t dead.
And mine has come back to life.

REVIEW:KNIVES is the tenth instalment in KL Savage’s contemporary, adult RUTHLESS KINGS erotic, MC romance series focusing on the members of the Ruthless Kings MC in Vegas. This is Thomas ‘Knives’ Underwood, and Mary ‘Hellraiser’ St. James’ story line. KNIVES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is a continuing premise throughout. Mary was one of the women/children rescued from captivity in BOOMER (book 2).

WARNING: Due to the extreme violence, abuse and dark subject matter, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Knives and Mary) KNIVES follows several years in the life of Thomas ‘Knives’ Underwood. At the age of five, Thomas lost his family to a fatal motor vehicle accident, and spent the next ten years in the foster care system. At the age of fifteen, Thomas lost his foster brother Mason Fletcher, the only ‘brother’ he had ever loved, to police gunfire, and in a final push from Mason, found himself a new family with the Ruthless Kings MC. Fast forward to present day wherein Thomas, now known as Knives, for his penchant and use of the weapon of choice, finds himself struggling with his attraction to a rescued young woman who had been chained and imprisoned by the Atlantic City chapter of the Ruthless Kings MC. Enter preacher’s daughter Mary St. James. What ensues is the back and forth, acrimonious relationship between Mary and Knives, and the potential fall-out as Mary’s past comes back to claim our heroine as his own.

Mary St. James’ life had never been easy. On the outside, Mary was the perfect preacher’s daughter but behind closed doors Mary’s life was a life of nightmares and abuse. From the frying pan into the fire, Mary found herself from one captor to another but her rescue and subsequent life with the Vegas Ruthless Kings MC allowed Mary to free herself from a life of torture and abuse. Thomas ‘Knives’ Underwood had been biding his time before claiming Mary as the woman he loved but Knives knew Mary needed time to heal but their back and forth was just a prelude to what was to come.

Meanwhile, Maximo and Mateo Moretti, Vegas gambling and questionable hotel owners continue to make life miserable for the Ruthess Kings MC. Having recovered at the Ruthless Kings compound, from the hotel explosion that nearly took his life, Mateo Moretti, claiming no memories of the past, will discover that his brother Maximo, a man he does not remember, is the latest target of the RC MC, and he has news about another family member Mateo is desperate to find.

The relationship between Knives and Mary is one of immediate attraction but Knives doesn’t do relationship, and Mary is still recovering from her horrific ordeal but Mary refuses to be treated like a broken doll, and sets about to prove she is worthy of the Ruthless Kings MC. With one final flip of the finger to the MC, Mary finds herself in a local jail, having been arrested for breaking the speed limit, one too many times. With Mary freed with the help of a reluctant Knives, the couple endure fire, rain, tornado and gunfire in their endeavor to return home to the Ruthless Kings MC. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including most of the Ruthless Kings MC, as well as Reaper’s old lady Sarah; several members of Demon’s Fury MC including Mercy, Whistler, and their Sargent at Arms One; Mateo and Maximo Moretti; Mary’s father Preacher Man; Mateo’s daughter Natalia; and Knive’s foster brother Mason Fletcher.

KNIVES is a tragic, dark, emotional and gritty story of family and loss; abuse and power; secrets, lies, revelations and love. The premise is dramatic and intense; the romance is erotic, spicy and energetic; the characters are sassy and wounded-the back and forth between Knives and Mary is caustic yet sexually palpable and tense.

Bad things don’t happen to good people.
Bad people do.
And it’s made me love and appreciate good people more. Maybe I’m different. Maybe I’m not crying every night or having nightmares. Maybe I’m not losing myself in drinks or drugs, but I have lost something about myself.
I’m just trying to find it.
“You give me a headaches twenty-three out of twenty-four hours a day, but I can’t sit here and lie to you and say you aren’t beautiful,” Knives says, honestly, meeting my eye and keeping his hands to himself.
The flames dance in his cornflower blue eyes and they are so damn bright. I’ve never seen irises like his before. They are unique, just like him.
“And the other hour?” I tease when I sit down on the hay, which scratches my ass and is very uncomfortable.
“I’m sleeping. It’s the only damn peace I get.”
“Shut up,” I giggle, nudging his side with my arm. I lean forward and lay my elbows against my knees, watching the fire as it pops. The rain is slamming against the barn and the door shakes when the wind carries around us.
“It’s not letting up, is it?”
“No, it isn’t. I can’t believe it turned so ugly so fast.”
“The way of the world is bittersweet, ain’t it?” he asks, the stands and when I go to ask him where he is going, my eyes land on his package.
His very big, very long, very in my face, package. He has a tattoo above the waistband of his underwear, right above where I assume his pubic hair is and it says 666.
What’s that mean?
If a woman hops on top, does that mean she gets possessed by the devil?
Why does a part of me want to find out?

K.L. Savage decided they were tired of looking for the kind of books they wanted to read. They had an itch that needed to be scratched, and as every girl knows, nothing scratches better than an alpha.

They write about gritty, alpha males, sometimes their dark sides, and the women they love.
If you have the same itch, their alpha males should fix that.
