REVIEW:TEXT APPEAL is the first instalment in Kylie Scott’s contemporary, adult PORT STEWART erotic, romance series. This is romance author Riley Cooper, and mechanic Connor’s story line.

Told from first person perspective (Riley) TEXT APPEAL follows romance author Riley Cooper as she struggles to write her latest book but a new phone number finds Riley on the receiving end of a number of texts for someone called Connor, texts that pique her interest in the intended recipient. Within days, the small town gossip mill of Port Stewart begins tracking down Riley Cooper, a potential suitor for our story line hero, a woman who is seen a competition for the heart of Connor. Connor’s ex girlfriend Ava is coming home, and Connor wants nothing to do with the woman who broke his heart. Along with his family, the town of Port Stewart prepares a welcome home party in the hopes of pushing the former couple together but Connor has moved on, and makes Riley an offer for the foreseeable future: a fake relationship to keep his family at bay, and Ava towards another path on her own. What ensues is the building but fake relationship between Riley and Connor, and the potential fall-out when their time together comes to a close.

The world building focuses on Connor’s extended family and their refusal to accept that Connor and Ava are no more. From his mother’s desperate attempts to push the couple back together, to his grandmother’s fierce protectiveness over our story line heroine, the meddling people of Port Stewart can’t leave well enough alone.

The relationship between Riley and Connor is a fake relationship predicated upon secrets and lies. Connor’s long suffering, on / off relationship with Ava ended several months earlier but throughout the story everyone including Connor refuse to let go of the past. As Connor struggles to stand his ground against his family and the residents of Port Stewart, Riley finds herself the unintended target of the pushy but well meaning people in Connor’s life. As Connor and Riley’s relationship begins to grow, Riley struggles to keep her heart from getting involved. The $ex scenes are passionate and seductive.

There is a large ensemble cast of interesting and quirky secondary and supporting characters: including Connor’s mother Denise, grandmother Martha, brother Stuart, and ex girlfriend Ava.

TEXT APPEAL is a story of secrets and lies, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is captivating and entertaining; the romance is awkward yet enticing; the characters are desperate and dynamic but Connor’s behavior and lack of excitement regarding our story line heroine is questionable-I didn’t feel any palpable sexual attraction-the relationships definitely appeared one-sided.

REVIEW:KYLE is the sixth instalment in Nicole James’ contemporary, adult SINS OF THE FATHER: EVIL DEAD MC-Second Generation erotic, MC romance series- a spin off from the author’s Evil Dead MC series. This is Kyle and Sutton’s story line. KYLE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Kyle is Wolf and Crystal’s son (WOLF: Evil Dead MC 4).

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Kyle and Sutton) KYLE follows the building relationship between our story line couple. Months earlier Kyle met our story line heroine but his twin brother Rafe swooped in and walked away with the girl. Fast forward to present day, Kyle continues to lust after his brother’s girlfriend but when Rafe asks Kyle for another favor, our hero finds himself working side by side with the woman he loves. Owning and operating a successful food truck places Kyle in the spotlight, but his attraction to his brother’s girlfriend continues to grow. Meanwhile, the club’s lawyer is dead, and his wife suspects her husband was murdered, and wants the Evil Dead MC to track down his killer. What ensues is the building attraction between Kyle and Sutton, and the potential fall-out as our heroine refuses to come between brothers, fearing she will lose both in the end.

The world building primarily focuses on Kyle and Sutton, and Kyle’s burgeoning food truck business. As Kyle’s success grow, he finds himself considering a more permanent option, hopefully with the woman he loves by his side. The conflict is minimal, the resolution is smooth and without any major difficulty.

The relationship between Kyle and Sutton is one of immediate attraction but Sutton is Rafe’s girlfriend, a position Sutton believes is temporary then gone. Kyle struggles to keep his distance but working side by side pushes Sutton to take charge of everyone’s future. The $ex scenes are limited but intimate and passionate.

There is a large ensemble cast of familiar, colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including several members of the Evil Dead MC: Billy, TJ, Rafe, Marcus, Reckless, as well as the OG. We are introduced to Joselyn Silver, and several social media influencers.

KYLE is a story of obsession and lust, secrets and guilt, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is inviting but focuses mainly on the growing relationship between Kyle and Sutton, and Kyle’s successful food truck business-the search for a killer is limited although information obtained could be used for a future storyline. The characters are determined and spirited; the romance is tender and heart warming.

Both Vaughn and Hope have experience horrific abuse at the hands of former captors, and in this, Vaughn battles between head and heart with his attraction to our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate.

There is a large ensemble cast of familiar and colorful secondary and supporting characters including several members of Team Zulu; Hope’s father Carlos Espinoza, and his second in command Jorge Ortega.

RAVAGE HEARTS is a story of betrayal, secrets and lies; power and control, murder and madness, acceptance, forgiveness and love. The premise is dramatic and dark; the romance is provocative; the characters are energetic and dynamic but our heroine is TSTL (Too stupid to live) having placed herself and Team Zulu in the direct line of fire with her actions and need to go it alone.

REVIEW: MASTER SLOBOZIA is the twelfth instalment in Sylvia Black’s contemporary, adult MASTERS OF THE CONSULATE erotic, paranormal, romance series. This is pureblood vampire Master Slobozia, and witch Taylen’s story line. MASTER SLOBOZIA can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order as there is an ongoing premise throughout, and many of the previous story line characters and couples play a significant role.

SOME BACKGROUND: One of their own has formed an army of rogue vampires, taking aim at the members of the Consulate and their fated mates. With the forced help of the shifters, the rogue leader wants the ultimate power, and in an effort to achieve their position, takes aim at the vampires, their mates, and the coven of witches. The witches and vampires are enemies, and have long fought against one another throughout time.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Taylen and Slobozia) MASTER SLOBOZIA is the culmination of several story lines focusing on the hunt for a rogue vampire who has betrayed the members of the Consulate. As the search enters Master Slobozia’s European territory, Slobozia struggles with the arrival of the witches, many of whom are the mates to his fellow pureblood vampires but one witch in particular has upset our story line hero to the point of anger and questionable behavior. Enter witch Taylen, the woman with whom Slobozia will fall in love. Taylen is a witch with aspirations of becoming a member of the Consulate’s group of Warriors but her affiliation and relationship with Slobozia may become a hindrance to her acceptance in the face of perceived favoritism and a possible conflict of interest. As the hunt for the betrayer comes to a close, another familiar face is determined to continue the fight for power.

Once again, the world building focuses on the hunt and take down of a vampire who is determined to reset the status quo but the rogue vampire now has a hostage, a witch who finds herself caught between power and love.

The relationship between Slobozia and Taylen begins acrimoniously as Slobozia is the lone member of the Consulate who has yet to find his mate, and the arrival of Taylen, an enemy of the vampires, forces Slobozia to reconsider his stand against the group of witches. Slobozia suspects Taylen is his mate but his prior treatment of Taylen leaves a bad taste in the mouth of everyone involved. The $ex scenes are seductive and impassioned.

Most of the previous story line Masters and their mates return as the Consulate members must prepare for battle against one of their own, as well as heart broken witch Embry; and special ops vampire Silver, and the introduction of Lord Corvinus, Master Slobozia’s right hand man.

MASTER SLOBOZIA is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, hatred and forgiveness, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is entertaining but the conflict resolution was too easy and too quick with very little action and limited interaction. The characters are determined; the romance is fated and captivating.

This is Mal Ulstad, and twenty-six year old IT hacker Freya Holm’s story line. EMPEROR OF RAGE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for cohesion. Most of the events of Emperor of Rage cross over with, and run parallel to the events of book one Emperor of Wrath.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise including ‘consensual non-consent’, and graphic violence, there WILL BE triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Freya and Mal) EMPEROR OF RAGE focuses on the enemies to lovers relationship between Mal Ulstad, and twenty-six year old IT hacker Freya Holm. Freya Holm was looking for some dark web information for Kir Nikolayev but stumbling into what she thought was a vacant building was about to change her life forever. Having witnessed the murder of several men, Freya finds herself at the mercy of the killer, a man with connections to the darkest of the dark. Enter Mal Ulstad who is about to control every aspect of our heroine’s life but the past refuses to go quietly and Mal will discover a connection between Freya, her boss and mentor Kir, and the life he once knew. As Mal holds the power in his relationship with Freya, someone else is taking aim at our story line couple.

The world building is multi-layered and intricate as the events of the previous story line become a significant part of the current timeline. Mal Ulstad is desperate to uncover the truth about our story line heroine, a truth that will set Mal on a journey of revenge and pain.

The relationship between Mal and Freya begins as enemies when Freya witnesses Mal killing several men with ties to the Russian Bratva, killings Mal invokes in vengeance for sins of the past. Controlling Freya, and discovering the truth, sets a plan into motion that will threaten the tentative peace between our story line couple, pushing Freya out of his life and into the world that is attempting to destroy our story line hero. The $ex scenes are aggressive, forceful and not without some scenes of questionable consent. As the series progresses, the heroes’ aggression and anger towards the heroine, is not without some controversy and dubious behavior.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of dynamic, interesting and powerful secondary and supporting characters including Freya’s friends Damian Nikilayev, Annika and Kenzo (Emperor of Wrath); their father-figure and head of the Nikolayev Bratva Kir Nikolayev; Kenzo’s siblings Takeshi and Hana.

EMPEROR OF RAGE is a story of betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, power and control, murder and retribution, family and relationships, acceptance and love. Like the first instalment, the character driven premise is dark, dramatic and raw; the romance is provocative but struggles with the early control and behavior of a man bent on revenge; the characters are broken, embattled and charismatic.

Told from several first person perspectives (Tucker ,Lake, Callum) TUCKER’S STRIKE follows Lake Wildthorn as she struggles to in the wake of her father’s death. From a young age, Lake has always known she was different but the death of her father and his brothers, all tiger shifters, left Lake on her own until she discovers the small town of Redwich, a town inhabited by the supernatural. Tucker is a tiger shifter and knows his fated mate is near and in trouble. Claiming Lake will not be easy but what follows Lake may be hard to take down. What ensues is the quick building relationship between Lake and Tucker, and the potential fall-out as something else is determined to claim Lake as his own.

The world building is fast and detailed. We learn of the existence of the dragons, the Drakon King, the Fae world, and its’ connections to our story line heroine, and the possibility that fate has more in store for our story line couple.

The relationship between Lake and Tucker is fated by magic. Tigers rarely find their fated mate yet the Goddess has forewarned of Lake and Tucker’s mating. Tucker is determined to protect the woman with whom he will fall in love but Tucker must claim Lake before the dragons arrive. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative.

There is a large ensemble cast of magical and powerful secondary and supporting characters including shifters, Fae, nymph, dragons, witches and vampires.

REVIEW:HELL BENT is the first instalment in Roux Cantrell’s contemporary, adult RBMC:MONTREAL CHAPTER dark, erotic, MC romance series set in the multi-authored RBMC world. This is RBMC: Montreal VP Mason ‘Vicious’ Lapointe, and twenty-seven auto mechanic Sabine ‘Sway’ Roussin’s story line.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise including graphic violence, there WILL BE triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from several omniscient third person perspectives including Vicious and Sway HELL BENT follows in the wake of the death of Sway’s brother Tesh. Tesh Roussin was beaten to death, and in the aftermath Sway made it her mission to uncover the truth but Sway never expected to come face to face with RBMC: Montreal VP Vicious Lapointe, the man with whom Sway will fall in love.As Sway continues to follow the clues including the possibility of involvement by the RBMC, information comes forward from a questionable source, information that places our heroine in the direct line of fire.

The world building follows several paths:the building romance and relationship between our story line couple; the friction between Vicious, and the MC president Teller; a potential war on the horizon with the Bloody Scorpions; the possibility of betrayal from within; and the search for the people responsible for the death of Tesh Roussin.

The relationship between Sway and Vicious begins as Sway struggles to come to terms with her brother’s death. Threats to her life and her livelihood bring Sway up close and personal with our story line hero, a man who is willing to die to protect the woman he loves but Sway has pissed off some powerful people, and will pay the price for uncovering the truth.

We are introduced to several members of the RBMC: Montreal including their new club prez Teller, a man who wants to make changes, and continues to butt heads with our story line hero, as well as Tail Gunner Player, Road Captain Joker, club medic Razor, and Sway’s best friend Lottie. There is something developing between Razor and Lottie. The requisite evil has many faces.

HELL BENT is a story of betrayal and vengeance ; secrets and lies; obsession and madness; acceptance and love. The premise is dramatic, dark and emotional; the romance is provocative; the characters are determined and charismatic.My only complaint is there is more telling than showing…and in this I felt a little bit disconnected.

REVIEW: HEATHEN : A Very Cerberus Halloween is the first instalment in Marie James’ contemporary, an adult CERBERUS MC: LAS VEGAS MC romantic suspense series focusing on the members of the Cerberus MC- all former members of the US Marines. Cerberus MC: Las Vegas is a spin off set in the author’s Cerberus MC world. This is thirty year old, former US Marine Ellis ‘Heathen’ Burke, and twenty-six grocery store clerk year old Kaylee Rhodes’ story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Kaylee and Heathen) HEATHEN follows in the wake of the Cerberus MC setting up a new chapter in Las Vegas. Ellis ‘Heathen ‘ Burke is one of several Cerberus MC members to be assigned to Las Vegas  in their endeavour to hunt down human traffickers but Heathen never expected the first woman he met to fall victim to the very people he is fighting to take down. Marrying Kaylee to protect her life, Heathen must face the men of Cerberus MC, in the hopes of uncovering the people responsible.

The world building focuses on the start up of the Las Vegas chapter of the Cerberus MC, and their first foray into taking down a human trafficking ring selling Russian brides, and one home grown American woman who made herself a target of some powerful men. A little TSTL (Too stupid to live) Kaylee walked into trouble wherever she went, bringing with it trouble to the Cerberus MC.

The relationship between Heathen and Kaylee begins when Heathen suspects Kaylee is in trouble. Heathen had previously met Kaylee at her job but finding Haylee’s car at a suspicious warehouse eventually brought the wrath of the Cerberus MC to their door. Marrying Haylee to keep her safe meant bringing facing the MC he would soon call brothers but marrying Haylee would be questioned by all. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

We are introduced to the new members for the Las Vegas Chapter of the Cerberus MC (Twisted, Bandera, Rooster) ,as well as the return of some of the original brothers (Kincaid and Dominic). We are introduced to Haylee’s best friend Morgan.

HEATHEN is a story of new beginning and friendships, power and control, betrayal and madness, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is haunting; the romance is slow building and guarded ; the characters are determined and spirited but Kaylee Burke’s behavior was often questionable in the face of what was happening and why.

As to the ‘Halloween’ aspect of the story line-it is limited and almost non-existent.
