ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 30, 2020

The devil in my nightmares is the man of my dreams.

For the past three years, I’ve been running from a man I’ve never met. A man who carries a grudge. A man who specializes in revenge. I thought I had it all—a career and a new home in a sleepy small town. My world comes crashing down when a sexy gang member from the city arrives at my job, wrapped in tattoos and sinful smiles. Beneath his flirtatious facade beats the heart of an angry man. I’ve committed the one sin he can never forgive. I stole from him, and he won’t be satisfied until he’s repaid with the money or my life.

They say there are two kinds of power: power derived from fear and power obtained by acts of love. Cash Delacorte holds them both over my head. He’s everything I never wanted: dark, deceptive, and dedicated to a life of crime. He’s determined to pull me into the darkness with him, and the thing is—I want to go. Every kiss, every lie, every punishment propels me into a future I never dreamed possible.

Theo Miller can’t get the gorgeous man he hooked up with one night in L.A. out of his mind. When he moves to Twilight Falls for the opening of his new store, he is shocked to discover than his business rival is none other than the stranger who ran away from him and their fiery connection.

Sparks fly as the two men engage in a game of cat and mouse. But when an accident makes Theo dependent on Hunter, the game becomes something neither men could have anticipated.

Will Hunter finally overcome his deep-seated fears and succumb to Theo’s passionate attention? And can Theo win the heart of the one man he wants to belong to?

REVIEW: Book three in the Twilight Falls; Hunter brings us right back to the sleepy small town and characters that we know and love.

Known as a bad boy, Hunter Thomson hits a club on a trip into L.A hoping to loose a few hours in pleasure. What he was not expecting was to meet a man that filled dreams he didn’t even know he had. After the most meaningful, but puzzling sexual experiences of his life, Hunter makes a run for it. Or rather, the hazel eyed man that invoked those feelings.

Theo Miller is new to Twilight Falls, opening a new location for one of his many other shops, he thought of nothing else but the shop and the mysterious man he meet for a one night stand in L.A. Little does he know that the little town of Twilight Falls holds the key to his heart. As luck has it, the shop owner across from his new store is none other than the mystery man he can’t get out of his head.

While Theo pursues Hunter, the unthinkable happens; Theo is injured in a climbing accident while saving not only Hunter, but Hunter’s friend as well. Feeling guilty, and the pull of all things Theo, Hunter decides to help Theo while he is recovering. Things heat up in more than one way and the past comes to light as we learn new things about Hunter and his “shy” ways. Enter back into Twilight Falls, and into the loving story of Hunter and Theo.

First things first, while you can read Hunter as a standalone, I personally recommend reading the first and second books in the series to get the most out of the series. This is a man on man romance, if that isn’t your cuppa tea, then just be aware. If you haven’t explored this genre much, then come on in, this a good one dip your toes into for beginners.

Hunter and Theo’s story is so sexy and sweet, you can’t help but like it. When I first started, I was unsure how I felt about Hunter, he was stand offish and kind of cold, but after reading more, you learn why and what makes him that way. The vulnerability of his past gives Hunter a tough outer shell that hides a shy, loving inside. Theo, now he’a upfront, bold and sexy. He knows what he wants and isn’t shy about going after it. Their relationship is somewhat bumpy at first, but throughout the book the story line flows and the chemistry is so real. 5 out of 5 stars, and very much hoping for more in this series. I think Tristan would make a great book!

Theo Miller watched the man freeze as he started to reach for the door handle. He lowered his hand and twisted on his heels.
Stormy gray eyes cut to Theo. The guy frowned.
“What do you mean?”
Theo suppressed the chuckle working its way up his throat and did his best to look solemn. He didn’t think the man would appreciate his amusement.
“You know?” Theo waved a hand vaguely south of the stranger’s belt buckle. “Like that.”
A flush of color bloomed on the man’s cheekbones when he realized Theo was talking about his erection.
Mighty fine cheekbones they are too.
Theo would be lying if he said he hadn’t noticed the stranger when they were at the bar earlier. Though the man was dressed pretty casually for the club, his striking face and confident bearing made him stand out from the crowd.
It was clear he was utterly comfortable in his own skin and his sexuality.
Admiration darted through Theo as they eyed each other across the washing area.
The stranger was facing him boldly despite his arousal.
Theo could tell the guy wasn’t used to backing down from anything, which intrigued him even more. It wasn’t just the man’s face that was to his liking.
Though not overtly brawny, it was clear from the stranger’s physique that he took great care of his body. The smoothly defined muscles Theo could spy through his jeans and T-shirt made him want to peel the guy’s clothes off and find out if they were as nice as they looked.
And that ass is something else.
Theo’s fingers twitched slightly as he imagined wrapping his hands over the nicely rounded, tight globes he’d spied strutting on the dance floor a short while ago. The guy sure knew how to move to the music, his sultry expression matching the wicked way he’d rocked the songs pounding through the club.
The stranger seemed to come to some kind of decision. He closed the distance between them, leaned a hip against the sink, and raised an eyebrow. He raked Theo slowly from his head to his toes and back again, his silver gaze daring as he met Theo’s stare.
“Why, are you proposing to do something about it?”
Theo blinked, surprised. He swallowed a grin.
His body isn’t the only sassy thing about him.
Theo moved until he stood toe-to-toe with the stranger, forcing him to look up. He could tell the guy wasn’t pleased by their height difference.
“Would you like me to?” Theo murmured.
The man’s pupils flared in surprise. He licked his lips nervously.
The sight of the pink, moist flesh darting in and out of the stranger’s mouth and the flash of white teeth he glimpsed almost drew a groan from Theo.
Shit. That’s sexy.
Theo didn’t know what possessed him in the next instant. He raised a hand and traced the man’s plump lower lip with his thumb, wiping away the trace of dampness he found there.
“So, what’s it gonna be, Gray?” he said huskily.
The man’s eyelashes fluttered as he blinked, clearly flustered despite his brave expression.
“Hunter,” he blurted, his breath washing hotly across Theo’s finger.
Theo’s dick thickened at the sensation. He angled his head closer, a little stunned by how brazen he was being. Something about this guy just flipped all his buttons, in a hot and dirty kind of way.
“What?”
The man shivered at the question, dark pupils dilating in a sea of smoky gray. There were only a scant few inches separating their mouths.
“My name is Hunter.” His gaze grew heavy-lidded as it dropped to Theo’s lips.
Damn.
***
Hunter didn’t know who moved first.
One minute, Hazel Eyes was edging him on, the next their mouths were glued together in a torrid kiss. Desire stormed through Hunter as the man shamelessly probed his lips open. A wave of dizziness swept over him when their tongues clashed hungrily a heartbeat later. Hunter’s hands found the stranger’s broad shoulders, his fingers sinking into firm, warm flesh as he clung on for dear life.
Holy crap, he’s a good kisser!
He was dimly aware of the guy guiding him to the back of the restrooms and around the corner to a cubicle at the far end. The sound of the metal door clattering open and closing behind them reached him hazily above the sound of blood pounding in his ears.
A small part of Hunter’s brain told him he needed to stop. The last time he’d had sex in a public toilet, he’d barely been past the legal age of drinking.
His lower half, however, had other thoughts on the matter.
Though he’d very much wanted to find his release in the comfort of his hotel room tonight, his dick was doing press-ups inside his jeans and he was dying to deliver it from its tight confines.
A throaty groan rumbled out of him when Hazel Eyes did just that, his long fingers unbuckling Hunter’s belt swiftly before he slid his zipper down and dipped his hand inside his boxers. A hiss of pleasure left him as the stranger palmed his cock and gently pulled it free before backing him against the wall.
Hunter stiffened slightly. He was used to being in charge under these kinds of circumstances. It unnerved him how easily he was letting this guy take control of the situation.
Hazel Eyes let go of his mouth and leaned away slightly, his heated gaze dropping to where he was touching Hunter intimately. The tender expression on his gorgeous face scattered Hunter’s anxious thoughts to the four winds.
“Theo.” The man caressed Hunter’s erection lightly, as if it was the most precious thing in the world.
Hunter sucked in air, too focused on the sinful feeling of the guy’s hand on his sensitive member to pay much heed to anything else.
“My name.” Intense hazel eyes met Hunter’s own dazed ones. “It’s Theo.”
Hunter’s belly contracted with a spasm of pleasure and something else.
Oh. His eyes get greener when he’s excited.
A clink sounded. Hunter looked down and saw Theo unzip his own pants. He swallowed when he saw the enormous erection Theo unleashed seconds later.
“You’re big,” Hunter blurted.
Theo stared. A sexy chuckle escaped him in the next instant. “I’m going to choose to take that as a compliment.”
Hunter shuddered when Theo wrapped one large hand around both their dicks and started rubbing, his movements skillful.
“Fuck, that’s good!” Hunter mumbled.
Theo took his mouth in a passionate kiss as he gave them both an expert hand job, his breaths leaving his nose in sharp pants, color staining his cheeks a dull pink under the light illuminating the cubicle.
Hunter curled his fingers in Theo’s thick, dark hair and returned the kiss greedily, his body straining toward the man who was pleasuring him, seeking closer contact.
Theo parted Hunter’s legs with his right thigh, clasped Hunter’s left knee with a powerful hand, and hooked it around his own leg, pressing their bodies together. Hunter moaned, stunned that Theo had done exactly what he’d been hungering for.
Theo let go of his mouth, nipped his jawline with strong white teeth, and lowered his head to nudge Hunter’s chin up. Hunter gasped when Theo’s hot lips found his throat. Theo rained scorching kisses across his feverish skin before finding the pulse at the base of his neck. He started a seductive bump and grind with his hips while he sucked on Hunter’s flesh and kneaded their swollen cocks with a firm hand.
The metal partition they were up against rattled loudly.
Theo stopped, his grip tightening on their erections in a way that sent sparks exploding across Hunter’s vision.
Hunter’s head reeled when Theo wrapped an arm around his waist, twisted around, and backed him against the tiled wall of the cubicle, his thigh still firmly wedged between Hunter’s.
“That’s better,” Theo said huskily. “Wouldn’t want the whole world to know what we’re doing in here.”
Hunter’s rationality dissolved into nothingness as Theo resumed his sexy thrusts, his movements indicating exactly what he wanted to do to Hunter while he stroked their stiff dicks briskly.
Pleasure sent bolts of whiteness shooting across Hunter’s mind. He could feel his orgasm building in throbbing waves in his belly and thighs. His balls tightened and his ass spasmed when Theo flicked a lazy thumb across the head of his leaking cock.
“Oh, Jesus!” Hunter panted. He fisted his hands in Theo’s hair and bucked his hips hard against Theo’s. “I’m so close!”
Theo grabbed a handful of tissue from the toilet roll dispenser. His mouth found Hunter’s as he worked them both toward their climax, his movements unrelenting.
He swallowed Hunter’s grunts of pleasure when they both came violently a moment later, his fingers closing on the heads of their pulsing shafts, capturing their shooting cum in the thick wad of tissue.
Hunter’s heart raced as he continued rolling his hips helplessly against Theo’s, his orgasm causing sweat to bead across his upper lip.
Theo licked at the salty drops, his hazel gaze torrid with lust as his dick throbbed and jumped against Hunter’s.
Their bodies finally shuddered and stilled. Blood thundered in Hunter’s head as he blinked dazedly at Theo, dumbfounded by how much pleasure he’d found in the man’s arms.
Theo leaned his hot forehead against Hunter’s, his breaths coming hard and fast in the aftermath of his own powerful orgasm.
“I want to fuck you so bad right now.”
Hunter froze at his words.
“I—we can’t,” he stammered after a shocked pause.
Theo’s expression grew serious. “I know. I heard what you said to those guys.”
Awkward silence fell between them as they stared at one another.
“I’m sorry.” Hunter pushed Theo away, zipped himself up hastily, and barged out of the cubicle.
He heard Theo call his name and practically ran out of the restrooms, scared by the feelings twisting through him. Because, for one disconcerting moment, he’d actually entertained the idea of letting Theo do exactly as he’d wanted.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 14, 2020

When my college crush, Talbot Richardson, was elected to the United States Senate, I bragged a little too loudly that I knew him.

Oops.

Did I really know the sexiest, slickest guy on campus?

Not a chance in hell.

Unless knowing someone is following them around campus to see which dorm they live in, and which class they have at eight a.m. on Wednesdays.

Oh, and I might have stalked him in the dining hall, too. He liked grilled cheese.

Thanks to my big mouth, the paper I work for now expects me to do a story on him.

Surely he’ll meet with me since we went to college together? Right?

Logical assumption, except that he doesn’t know me from a hole in the wall.

But I wasn’t about to blow my chance with the paper. My gig writing obituaries was not exactly a fulfilling career, especially since I had student loans up to my eyeballs.

I wanted more than obits—I wanted to report on real news, to prove myself, and even to work in the face of danger. A girl’s got to have dreams.

I needed a break. A big one.

So, I was getting an interview with Talbot Richardson if it was the last thing I did, whether I had to beg, borrow, steal, or… even take my panties off.

REVIEW: Slick Senator by Mika Lane is a part of the Cocky Hero Club Series, and as a fan of that series I found this a quick and fun read. After reading a few of Mika’s books before, I was extremely excited to get my hands on this one.

Talbot Richardson is the youngest Senator elected in the United States, his Alma mater; George Washington University and currently caught up in a high-profile scandal. A baby scandal. Every reporter and journalist in the country is after his story, but there is only one that holds his attention.

Cricket Curtain (what a name!) is a small-time obit writer from the Washington Chronicle looking to branch out and make a name for herself. After letting it slip that she and the new hot Senator went to the same University and were friends, her editor assigns her to get the inside scoop. Only one problem…..she may have fibbed just a little. She and Talbot were not friends, he was her crush, and he did not even know she existed. Now she had to find away to get her story, no matter what.

What a steamy read! This book has it all, great chemistry, sassy scandal scenes, lusty love moments and even a few cuddly puppy ones. After reading this in a single setting, I found myself hitting Youtube to watch my own cute puppy videos. Best of all it ends with a HEA!

How could a world so cruel and inhumane exist?

Little did I know the one-time-job I’d taken would plunge me into a world filled with mob ties and illegal activities or bring me face to face with the woman of my dreams. Isla Chambers was a blinding vision wrapped in Kevlar and topped in a baseball cap with FBI stitched on it.

With the sexy Isla working by my side, I gladly offered my assistance as the FBI’s only tether in uncovering this operation.
Besides, this could launch my career even further so refusing wasn’t an option.
The risk seemed small … or so I thought.
Not only did it expose Isla to danger, it also placed a huge target on my back.

It wasn’t long before I was drowning in unimaginable darkness.

Days and nights merged until I was nothing but broken fragments.
The beautiful face that had brought me so much joy, was stolen from memory as I surrendered to the blackness now ruling my soul.

“Break her in. Get her ready. I’m serious.”
He pulled the door closed, and not a moment too soon. I was going to wring his neck, even if he was my brother.

It was no accident that Echo Duncan was spared our violent shoot out.
For that, she’s indebted to my twin brother and me, kings of the Vegas underground.
And we always get what we’re owed.
She can resist, but in the end she’ll play The Game.
No one walks away from us,
and our Dirty Game.
It’s time to play…

This hot, over-the-top romance includes sexy mafia hitmen with a penchant for pursuing and protecting the women who give them a run for their money. If you love outrageously naughty stories as a way to indulge your not-so-secret bad girl side, this is for you.

••••••••

REVIEW:Hot Hot Hot! This is the one word that keeps coming to mind when I think about this book. This was my first journey into the world of Mika Lane and Lordy B what an experience it was. The first in The Anti-Hero Chronicles, Dirty Game is a mafia romance that everyone will want to roll the dice on.

Kings of the Vegas underground meet good girl Echo and the Dirty Game begins.
Luca and Leo Borroni are twin brothers, but more than that, they are mafia brothers. The brothers have been regulars at the strip club known as the Loaded Dice for some time, but the owner of said club has managed to rub them the wrong one for the final time, and now he must pay the price.

Echo Duncan, the girl who always seemed to get dumped on finally builds up enough courage to leave her rag tag life in West Virginia and start anew in Las Vegas. Leaving her beloved sister in the hands of their crappy drunken mother was one of the hardest things she had ever done, but Echo knew in order to get her out of their and to Vegas with her, she needed a job and money.

One moment Echo’s life was blissfully normal, then the next she’s being “saved” by the Borroni brothers. Luca has had his eye on Echo from the moment he saw her, now after bringing her back to their place after the drama at Loaded Dice, the real game can begin.

Once safely tucked away in their place, Echo is asked to play a game by the brothers while they protect her from not only the fallout from the shooting, but also the other mob families. This game is one that will change her life forever, but one that also makes her blood run hotter and hotter.

I don’t want to share too much, this story is fast pace and packed with action, drama and sexy moments that are sure to stir the blood. I will say, I was surprised by the ending as I’m sure many will be, but it’s awesome non the less. Bring on the next book!

REVIEW:Nasty Bet is the second in The Anti-Hero Chronicles by Mika Lane and focuses on Leo Borroni from the first book in the series. This is a sinfully sexy read with an over the top alpha male and quirky, but strong young woman.

Leo has left the high rolling life of Las Vegas for the towering skyscrapers of New York City. He still playing different games with different woman, but this time he has made a nasty bet with one woman that may just give him a run for his money.

Maray is a strong, young college student trying her best to not mess her life up. After landing her scholarship and a ticket into a sorority house, all Maray needs now is to not fail her classes and too get a part-time job for some extra monies. Leo, like the man he is uses Maray’s situation against her, and the next thing she knows she’s in a world she is unfamiliar with.

Now, first thing first. Leo came off as such a major ass when I started this book, while reading he did indeed get better, but I was surprised at how annoyed I was at him when I first started. Maray is strong minded and willing to work her booty off for what she wants, but she knows she doesn’t fit in in sorority house life. I love her character and what she goes through in this book to find out what she truly wants.

The attraction between these two is steaming, a build up of emotions and their attraction grows. When danger comes calling Maray is thrust into the middle of it, can Leo make the choice? What is more important, Maray or his business?

You’re a murderer and a car thief, not to mention a kidnapper. And now you’re forcing me to kiss you.

Rain saw something she should not have. That happens when you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time. And when you meet the wrong man—me.
Her sister’s gone now, and her own life is in danger.
Not my problem I say…
But she was so… different.
So I made a deal to help.
And my deal was just as filthy as you’d think.

REVIEW:Book three of The Anti-Hero Chronicles series by Mika Lane and this one is my favorite!

Rain is on a vacation to the Sin City, Las Vegas with her little sister. After getting kick out of her room so her sister could enjoy a little hook up with their Uber driver, Rain is in need of a good nights rest and a little TLC. Neither happen when her sister Mazzy needs just a little more time with her latest booty call. After heading back down to the Casino, Rain is met by two men, one skeezy and one she can’t take her eyes off. After a drink or two, the night takes a turn that Rain was not expecting. After seeing something she was not meant to, danger lurks around every corner.

When her sister is kidnapped by human traffickers, Rain has one person to turn to.

Nico.

The very same Nico that Rain watched do something unimaginable, but the one man she knows that seems to have the connections to help her get her sister back. In order to do that though, he offers her up a deal. A filthy deal that she takes, after all, she wants her sister back and Nico isn’t hard on the eyes.

Nico life revolves around his two best friends, his family and their business. A second generation mafia bad boy, Nico knows the life and has been burned by it before. His attraction to Rain is like a smoldering fire, it burns slow but oh so hot. When he makes the deal to help Rain find her sister, he does it to cover his own ass, but soon that turns into more. Soon he is aching for her touch and willing to do anything to keep her safe.

This one has it all, action, danger, intense drama, sexy moments and even a little bit of kink. The chemistry and connection between the two main characters is scorching hot, the story line is smooth and inviting to read. I really enjoyed reading this and can’t wait to see what comes next!

Writing has been a passion of mine since, well, forever (my first book was “The Day I Ate the Milkyway,” a true fourth-grade masterpiece). These days, steamy romance, both dark and funny, gives purpose to my days and nights as I create worlds and characters who defy the imagination. I live in magical Northern California with my own handsome alpha dude, sometimes known as Mr. Mika Lane, and an evil cat named Bill. These two males also defy my imagination from time to time.

A lover of shiny things, I’ve been known to try to new recipes on unsuspecting friends, find hiding places so I can read undisturbed, and spend my last dollar on a plane ticket somewhere.

I have several titles for you to choose from including perennially favorite Billionaire and Reverse Harem stories. And have you see my Player Series about male escorts who make the ladies of Hollywood curl their toes and forget their names? Hottttt…. And my brand new anti-hero/mafia books are coming out in audio as I write this.

Exciting news: in June 2020, I will be publishing with Vi Keeland’s and Penelope Ward’s Cocky Hero Club as one of their contributing authors. Stay tuned for more on this or follow my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mikalaneauthor. And, as if that’s not cool enough, I am also writing in K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heros world. Look for that later in the year.

I’ll always promise you a hot, sexy romp with kick-ass but imperfect heroines, and some version of a modern-day happily ever after.

Harvest of Sighs (Thornchapel #3) by Sierra Simone-Review Tour

Harvest of Sighs (Thornchapel #3) by Sierra Simone-Review Tour

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Google Play

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 5, 2020

The genius and the sunshine girl. As children, we fought bitterly and often, bickering every chance we got.

But then we grew up.
Then we came back.

Delphine Dansey carries her heart on the outside of her body; she’s looking for love and chasing dreams. She’s spoiled and selfish, the kind of beautiful that’s made for money and fame. But somehow she’s ended up in my keeping: a pretty submissive I can’t seem to resist, a lover who obsesses and tempts me.

I thought I’d locked my heart away a long time ago, along with all my other weaknesses. But some doors won’t stay closed, no matter how hard I fight to keep them shut. She unravels me, just like our friends are unraveling, just like Thornchapel itself is unraveling.

All year long, we’ve been sowing lust and jealousy and pain, heedless of the consequences. But a harvest is inevitable, and so now we must reap our sorrows.

And our sighs.

••••••••

REVIEW:sigh…book three in the Thornchapel Series is here and Delphine and Rebecca are back, and front and center in this kick in the pants. First and most importantly, I do STRONGLY recommend you read the first two books before starting this. While you can read this as a standalone, I feel you will get much more out of the characters and the story line if they are read in order.

Now back to the good stuff. There is so much to this book and to the series, but of course with the cliffhanger in the last book we were all waiting with baited breath to see what would unfold. Well fellow readers, I can say without spoilers, that this one is going to entice you just as much as the previous two books.

While Delphine and Rebecca are strong characters in this book, we also get so much more of the background, plot and history that comes with the series, as well as the others we have come to know in the series. Becket, Sebastian and Proseprina are all key in this as well. In Harvest Sigh, you experience the most emotional journey of the three books, the anger, the fear and the curiosity of what comes next. It’s intense to say the least, I was on the edge of my kindle for most of this book.

Harvest Sigh delves into Delphine and Rebecca’s Dom and Sub relationship. These two women are a strangely perfect pair. We receive a look into Rebecca’s past and how she became a Domme as well as a look into what makes Delphine tick.

Towards the end of the book, we learn new things and Thornchapel is starting to crumble. The past is slowly coming to light, and the six friends are tested in ways they never knew. So much happens in this series and spoilers are so easy to ruin the best parts. For those readers who love a good mystery, suspense and passionate relationships, this is one for you.

One more left in the series and then it’s finished…how am I going to go on!

Nick had kept Lori safe for three hundred and eighty-six days. What could possibly go wrong in the next twenty-seven hours?
They reached the women’s clothing store. As they walked inside, a chime dinged from a motion-activated PIR sensor he spotted.
An employee behind the register, wearing a blazer and sporting a curly bob, made eye contact and gave a perky smile. One female customer perusing a row of blouses didn’t glance their way.
“Hello,” the young sales associate said, her warm voice rich with enthusiasm. “Let me know if you need help finding anything.”
“Thank you,” Lori said.
“You’ve got twenty minutes.” Nick looked at his watch while Ted swept the rest of the store. “We’re in and out, okay?”
Lori went to a rack of suits. “You don’t give a gal much time.”
“One hour away from the property,” he said, reminding her of the US Marshal Service rules that kept witnesses alive. “Not a minute more.”
Nick’s attention flickered to the other customer.
The woman was in her early forties, petite, olive complexion, coal-black hair pulled in a tight bun. No jewelry, wore slacks and a blousy top and carried a leather purse. She reached up, taking a shirt from the upper rack, and the frilly bell sleeve of her blouse dropped an inch, revealing a tattoo of a black rose on the back of her hand. The ink fit her. Beautiful. Elegant. Dark.
Reflexively, Nick pressed his arm against the Glock 22 in his shoulder rig.
“This is a big deal.” Lori checked the size on a navy suit. “Forgive me for not wanting to rush.”
Tomorrow she was testifying in federal court against her in-laws’ financial firm for laundering millions. He could tell she was doing her best to hold it together and not let nerves derail her. If he could give her more time, he would.
The low chime at the front rang. Another woman entered the store. Bottled-bleach-blonde. Tall and thin. Jeans and a buttoned shirt. Sneakers that squelched lightly against the tile floor.
“I’m sorry. Eighteen minutes,” Nick said, telegraphing with his tone this was nonnegotiable.
Lori picked a navy two-piece from the rack. “This should work. I better go try it on. Tick-tock.”
Nick looked to Ted, where his partner stood at the entrance of the dressing rooms. Ted nodded, signaling the stalls were empty and he’d make sure no one followed Lori inside.
Blondie headed straight to some dresses hanging in the rear of the store, grabbed one almost mindlessly, or perhaps she’d been in before and knew what she was looking for, flicked a glance at a tag and made a beeline for the dressing rooms.
Ted lifted a palm, not letting the blonde in after Lori. The woman huffed and protested, raising a loud stink, but his partner held firm.
Show her your badge, Ted, and be done with it. Flashing the Eagle Top five-pointed star had a way of shutting down any complaints lickety-split.
“Who do you think you are?” Blondie asked with a fist on her hip.
“A US Deputy Marshal, ma’am,” Ted said. “Sorry for the inconvenience and the wait.”
“Listen, jerk. I need to get in there now.”
Ted laughed in his self-deprecating way. “Sorry. Not going to happen.”
The sales associate went over to the scene unfolding. “Hi,” she said brightly, her sunny disposition almost disarming. “Is there a problem?”
Nick maintained his position, monitoring the rest of the shop and the entrance.
Black Rose circled silent as a fox around to an ornate display of scarves and ran her fingers across the silk. Not once since they’d entered had she acknowledged their presence in the slightest. Until now.
Her gaze lifted, meeting his, her face an expressionless mask, but her sharp eyes were those of a merciless predator.
Prior experience as an army ranger in Afghanistan before becoming a marshal had taught him the hard way never to underestimate a woman with a slight build, or even a child for that matter, and the deep scar under his chin was a testament.
For a chilling instant they stared at one another, sizing the other up. Not from a physical perspective. It was an assessment of will. And what Nick saw in her was fathomless.
Blondie threw the dress at Ted, dividing Nick’s attention, and stormed out of the store.
The bell chimed. Black Rose’s steely eyes narrowed before she turned and strode unhurriedly toward the door—as if she had all the time in the world.
Then he saw it. Her low-heeled boots that didn’t make a sound.
His neck prickled the way it did when he was on a hunt for big game with his siblings. Nick followed. He had no reason to detain or question her, but something about that woman was wrong. From the tattoo, those rubber-soled shoes, to how she’d looked at him. As if she’d wanted to slice through him like a hot knife through butter.
None of it was evidence of anything and not cause for more than suspicion, but training and years of experience had taught him not to dismiss either.
The woman strolled away, lengthening the distance between them with each store she passed. One, two, three. But the tightening in his gut didn’t ease.
Black Rose glimpsed back at him over her shoulder, caught his fixed stare and stopped in her tracks. Pivoting, she turned and faced him, leveling her icy gaze his way. The look she sent him was full of loathing and in a blink it changed. Her lips hitched in an ominous half grin and she winked. Almost daring him to pursue.
Old ranger instincts urged him to take up the chase, confirm what his gut screamed about the woman, shake something that made sense out of her, but his training overruled recklessness.
He looked back in the quiet clothing store, checking on things.
Ted no longer stood stationed at the entrance of the dressing rooms.
Nick touched his Bluetooth earpiece. “Ted? What’s your position? Do you have eyes on Hummingbird?” he asked, using the codename for Lori.
Deafening silence.
Nick’s pulse spiked, but he remained calm—never one to succumb to panic. He stepped past displays and racks, his gaze scanning, his mind assessing.
No sign of Ted. Or the sales associate.
Drawing his gun, Nick hustled toward the dressing rooms.
Anticipation coiled in his chest, adrenaline roaring through him. The weight of his backup piece strapped to his ankle was a small comfort. Nick’s fingers tightened on his Glock. He reached the threshold, scanned left, then right.
Ted lay on the floor beyond the entrance in a corner. Blood soaked his white hair at the base of his skull.
Son of a— Ted was down.
There was no time to check if his partner was unconscious or dead. A commotion deeper in the dressing room drew him forward. Two people struggled inside the second stall.
The horror in Lori’s terrified whimper jolted his heart.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Re-release Date April 14, 2020

Michael Graydon has it all – looks, fame, and a couple of Oscars.
Does he see me in the crowd of paparazzi?
Does he know I sell pictures of him to the tabloids as if money could ever erase the feel of his lips on me?
Does he think I forgot the way he broke my heart?
Or does he know that I’ve ruined everything I’ve ever loved?

We were seventeen when I left, and I never forgot Laine. Not for one minute.
Since that day I’ve measured all women against her and every one of them has come up short.
We’re in the same town, on the same block, in the same building, and the gulf between us is just too wide to cross.
Until I stop running from trouble long enough to throw her camera off a balcony.
She’s a career-killer. A PR disaster.
Loving her again is career suicide, and I don’t care.
This time, I’m running toward her, even if it ruins me.

Star Crossed is a new and improved version of previously published title, Shuttergirl, with a brand new epilogue and previously unpublished, totally swoon-worthy and emotional new scenes.

••••••••

REVIEW:Star Crossed is an exciting, tantalizing love story of glitz and glam, true love and second chances. Laine and Michael first meet in school, both young and unsure of the feelings they invoke in each other, due to a situation they couldn’t control, they are separated from each other.
After years, Laine and Michael find each other again, but things are much different than they were when they were kids.

Laine is now a blood thirsty paparazzi, taking pictures of the rich and famous for money, and Michael, well he’s the rich and famous. Michael, with his good looks has become one of the most famous movies stars out there. However, time means nothing when Laine walks back into his life. Will their second chance at love slip through their fingers? Will they let the limelight of fame come between them?

Laine is a character I feel so much for, what’s she’s endured, the fear and loneliness. She is a strong, independent woman and her love for Michael was one that made me not want the story to end. CD Reiss wrote the best compelling story and I am so joyful I could experience it.

“Really.” I grabbed my camera. “Thank you for the eggs. Your apology is accepted, and your warning… I get it. Thank you. I’ll keep my eyes out.”
Fifteen steps to the door. Why were those lofts so damn big? What was I thinking?
Five steps, and I heard a shuffle behind me, the scrape of a chair. I picked up the pace, and I knew he was behind me. By the time I got to the door, his chest was against my back and his hand was over the door jamb.
“Don’t,” he said.
“Don’t what?”
“I’m going to get between you and this. I don’t like anyone knowing where you are. I don’t like you walking around at night unprotected. Especially because of me.”
I turned, putting my back to the door. “I haven’t seen you in ten years. Now this?”
“I should say it’s that I feel responsible for what’s happening. But you’re in this business as much as I am, so it’s not that. It’s you. I was up half the night thinking about you in those bleachers. The things you told me. The stuff I told you. How I felt. Back then, I was so confused, and I left you without a call or checking on you for reasons that…” He shook his head. “The reasons were pathetic. No one would have approved of you, and I lived on approval.”
He touched my hair, and those long strands became nerve endings for desire. The little hairless spot on his chin shifted, and I wanted to touch it so badly that I did so without thinking.
“Whatever it was I felt before, I’m not hiding from it this time. This time, I’m not going to worry what anyone else thinks,” he said.
“What if I’m worried?”
“I’ll make you not worried.”
His breath warmed my cheek, and I believed he could change things, even as I knew he couldn’t. He could only drag himself down. This could only go bad. But I turned my face until my lips touched his, and he stopped being a movie star. He was the boy in the bleachers, the one who worked too hard and cared too much, and I became the girl who could be anything she wanted, the one who was accepted and whose life was about to turn around.
But I’d wanted it then. I’d wanted his hand in mine to be the warning bell for change. In the penthouse loft, with his lips and tongue growing more urgent and his hands on the sides of my face, I didn’t want my life to change. I’d done everything I’d set out to do since he’d left, and there he was again, ready to destroy everything I’d built in exchange for a mouth that fit mine like a palm curled over a fist.
I turned to face the door, still trapped by his arms, and opened it a crack. He slapped it shut.
“If you’re not busy, I want to take you somewhere.”
“I’m always busy,” I said, leaning into him.
“Doing what?”
“Taking pictures of Hollywood royalty.”
“Bring your camera then.”

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She’s frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn’t ever gotten her out of chopping a single cord of wood.
