This is twenty-eight year old, Arizona Vengeance co-captain Bishop Scott, and team merchandising director Brooke Perron’s story line. The Arizona Vengeance is a spin-off from the author’s Carolina Cold Fury Hockey series.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Brooke and Bishop) BISHOP follows the fake relationship between Arizona Vengeance co-captain Bishop Scott, and team merchandising director Brooke Perron. The Arizona Vengeance is the NHL’s newest expansion hockey team, and one of their brightest new stars partakes of a one-night stand that quickly develops into something more. Bishop Scott will come face to face with his coach’s daughter, Brooke Perron but getting caught in a compromising position finds Brooke blurting out that she and Bishop were in it for the long haul. What ensues is the fake relationship between Brooke and Bishop, and the potential fall-out as a vindictive woman tries to destroy them all.

Brooke Perron, hoping to save Bishop from her father’s wrath reveals to Coach Perron that she and Bishop had been secretly dating, and were recently engaged to be married. Hoping to keep the ruse up for a little while longer, Brooke and Bishop reveal to a few close friends the truth about the entire situation but betrayal comes at a cost to the Arizona franchise.

The relationship between Brooke and Bishop begins as a one-night stand that quickly morphs into something more-from friendship to the reality of falling in love, Brooke and Bishop find themselves looking towards a future but a future that will hit a road bump when vengeance turns ugly, directed at everyone concerned. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate; the sexual tension is palpable without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to a large number of colorful and animated characters including Brooke’s widowed father and team coach David Perron; Bishop’s mother Marianne; and Brooke’s former co-worker Nanette; as well as the players for the Arizona Vengeance: GM Christian Rutherford, Team captain Tacker Hall, Dax Monahan, Erik Dalhbeck, and Legend Bay.

BISHOP is a flirty, fun but predictable story line that is following a similar pattern to her previous series. The premise is engaging; the romance is hot and steamy; the characters are dynamic and charismatic. BISHOP is an intimate look at two people caught between the truth and a lie that continues to snowball out of control.

REVIEW: MAREK is the eleventh instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult COLD FURY HOCKEY erotic, hockey romance series focusing on the members of the Carolina Cold Fury Hockey team. This is hockey player Marek Fabritis, and nurse Gracen Moore’s story line. MAREK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Marek and Gracen) MAREK is a second chance romance between Carolina Cold Fury player Marek Fabritis, and nurse Gracen Moore. Four years earlier, as he was about to embark on a professional career in the NHL, Marek Fabritis walked away from the woman he loved destroying her heart in the process. Fast forward to present day wherein Marek will receive an anonymous email that his ex-girlfriend had birthed him a daughter, and was in the process of marrying a man she did not love. All but kidnapping Gracen and the little girl he never knew Marek will effectively tie our heroine’s hands as he comes to terms with the knowledge that Gracen kept secret the birth of their daughter.

From the outset Marek Fabritis’ anger and hatred towards Gracen is despicable and appalling. There is nothing worthy about his actions and immature attitude towards the woman he once loved, a woman he despises for keeping secret her pregnancy and the birth of their child. As the story line progresses, there are small glimpses into a man who is willing to forgive but something will trigger the memory of the secrets and lies thusly setting Marek off on a vicious tirade meant to humiliate and wound. Gracen knows she screwed up four years earlier but the man that she loved (and still loves) all but destroyed the very essence of her heart and her soul. As a single parent Gracen needed to focus on her young daughter but things go from bad to worse when she finds herself, yet again, sacrificing her own happiness for someone she loves.

The relationship between Marek and Gracen is one of second chances; a rekindling romance that struggles in the face of past sins, secrets and lies. Marek’s treatment of Gracen is embarrassing, infuriating and juvenile, and our heroine places the blame all unto herself. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense but once again, I struggle with the use of a certain four-letter word I believe serves no purpose in a romance story line.

We are introduced to Marek and Gracen’s daughter Lilly-a sweet child who could have been easily used as a pawn in her parent’s war with one another.

MAREK is a well written, fast paced, emotional and heart breaking story line made all the more painful by the hero’s actions and behavior. I had a bit of a struggle with how Gracen easily acquiesced to Marek’s accusations and tirades-for a strong, independent woman she was constantly apologizing for sins of the past. The premise is spirited and dramatic; the characters are infuriating, colorful and passionate; the romance is provocative and edgy.

As an animal rights attorney, Viveka has seen her share of animal abuse and chaining herself to a tree meant getting the exposure she hoped she would find in an effort to stop the deforestation in an area home to the red-cockaded woodpecker. What Viveka never expected was to meet the man with whom she would fall in love. Enter attorney Ford Daniels, representing the law firm of Knight & Payne, and her opposing counsel in a hearing to determine the future of the land housing the endangered ‘pecker’. What ensues is the building relationship between Ford and Viveka, and the increasing danger as Viveka is targeted by an unknown source.

Viveka Jones never meant to seduce our story line hero but their palpable sexual attraction to one another was evident to everyone including the senior partner at Knight & Payne. A former Swedish model, Viveka’s beauty is a distraction to men including Ford himself, and Ford finds himself pulled towards Viveka for more than a one-night stand. The potential ramifications of an affair between opposing counsels is a constant reminder that anything might possibly go wrong.

The relationship between Ford and Viveka is one of immediate attraction; an insta-lust story line that finds our couple in bed within hours of meeting. Ford doesn’t do relationships but meeting Viveka our hero slowly begins to think about a future with the former Swedish model. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic, and intense. The use of a certain four-letter word is not applied to the romance aspect of the story line but gives nod to the behaviour and threats against our story line heroine.

We are introduced to Viveka’s BFF, beauty salon owner Frannie; Viveka’s mother Tilde Sjogren Wroth, a woman unable to let go of what was; land developer and Landmark Builders owner Drake Powell; Ford’s boss, senior partner Midge Payne; and Ford’s best friend, attorney Leary, and her husband Reeve. Leary, Reeve and Midge were introduced in the book FRICTION (October 2015)

We are privy to Viveka’s back story, a heart breaking look at a young woman whose earlier career and success exposes the reality of the fractured mother –daughter dynamics. Rescuing an abused animal from a potential life of suffering and pain, Viveka’s history reveals a colorful past that shaped the woman she was born to be.

THE PECKER BRIEFS is a story of power and greed; vengeance and money; lust, love, romance and a happily ever after. Told from dual first person points of view (Josie and Reed) REED is an opposites attract/friends to lovers story line that follows the building relationship between ER physician Josie Ives, and hockey player Reed Olson. Following their second Stanley Cup win the members of the Cold Fury hockey team are due for some R&R, and Reed Olson takes relaxation to the max with a series of one-night stands that are a little too loud for his neighbor’s enjoyment. Enter ER physician Josie Ives, and the woman with whom Reed will fall in love. What ensues is the friends to lovers relationship between Josie and Reed, and the potential fall out as Reed believes Josie can do much better than a high-school educated hockey player with too much time on his hands.

Reed Olson is a bit of a manwh*re whose late night antics are fodder for his friends and the new neighbour next door but something about Josie Ives draws Reed like a moth to a flame that he is willing to explore one way or another. A slow start to their friendship including picture puzzles, picnics, pizza and beer finds Josie falling for Reed Olson, and thinking about giving love a second chance.

The secondary and supporting characters include Reed’s fellow teammates Marek Fabritis and Tanner Craig, as well as the return of Alex and Sutton, and Garrett and Olivia. The camaraderie between teammates is humorous and fun. We are introduced fellow ER physicians Kathy Krantz, Kevin Mills and Josie’s ex boyfriend Dr. Aiden McCune.

REED is a story of friendship, romance, fun and adventure. There are no overt conflicts or over the top dramas that threaten to destroy Reed and Josie’s building relationship except Reed’s lack of confidence as it pertains to falling in love with a woman he believes to be out of his league- their differences may be too large for our hero to overcome. Josie is a strong, feisty female heroine who knows what she wants; Reed is successful hockey player who is willing to take a chance for something more. It is the off-season therefore hockey takes a backseat to the relationship. The premise is sweet and sexy; the romance is passionate and seductive; the characters are energetic and real. REED is a heart warming and uplifting story.

NOTE: WICKED CHOICE is a bit of a departure from Sawyer Bennett’s Wicked Horse series. As a ‘bridge’ between two series Wicked Choice sets the stage for the author’s new romantic, suspense spin-off series focusing on the men and women who work for The Jameson Group-mercenaries for hire.

Told from dual first person points of view (Rachel and Bodie) WICKED CHOICE follows the building relationship between teammates and mercenaries for hire Rachel Hart and Bodie Wright. Following a mission that went horribly wrong Rachel buried her emotions in alcohol and sex-a one night stand with Bodie Wright-that resulted in an unplanned pregnancy for our story line heroine. Believing motherhood will interfere in her long range plans, our tough as nails, fiercely independent heroine makes Bodie an offer he cannot refuse. What ensues is the building romance and love between Rachel and Bodie-a highly sexual relationship neither one expected to go beyond the needs of their physical desires.

Bodie Wright is a family man who isn’t afraid to step up and step in when Rachel announces their untimely pregnancy. Hoping to raise the child on his own, Bodie becomes support network and loving partner for a woman who battles between head and her heart. Believing she would be a bad mother Rachel offers up a promise to hand over the child she will never love.

The relationship between Bodie and Rachel begins as teammates and partners that grows into something more. A one-night stand will push Bodie and Rachel together, for better or for worse, when an unplanned pregnancy forces our couple to make plans for the future, one way or another. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense but as usual, I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word that doesn’t belong in a romance story line.

We are introduced to Bodie and Rachel’s teammates and fellow mercenaries at The Jameson Group: Cage Murdock, Locke Meyers, August Greenfield, Tank Richardson,, Sal Mezzina, and Benji Darden; the current owner of The Jameson Group Kynan McGrath; Jerico Jameson, founder and former owner of The Jameson Group, as well as the current owner and proprietor of the Wicked Horse, Vegas; Bodie’s parents George and Estelle Wright; and Ob-Gyn Dr. Anchors.

The world building focuses on the dangerous assignment and potential threats to the men and women who work for The Jameson Group. The Wicked Horse and The Silo are no longer the main focus in this particular story line as the author sets the stage for her upcoming series. There is a sight cross-over with the author’s Cold Fury Hockey series as well.

WICKED CHOICE is a sexy, spirited and spicy story line; the characters re energetic and passionate; the romance is provocative and intoxicating.

REVIEW: VAN is the ninth instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult COLD FURY HOCKEY erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women of the Cold Fury Hockey team. This is twenty eight year old, team enforcer Van Turner, and Simone Fournier’s story line. VAN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Some of the events of VAN run parallel to and cross over with book eight LUCAS where we are first introduced to our story line couple. Simone is Lucas (#8) and Max’s (#6) younger sister.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Van and Simone) VAN follow the building relationship between the Cold Fury’s enforcer Van Turner, and Simone Fournier, Max and Lucas’s sister, who at the end of book eight-LUCAS-had quit university, and moved in with Lucas and Van. Simone’s parents had always planned for our heroine to attend medical school but a few months before completing her bachelor’s degree Simone walks into Lucas’s apartment and announces she wants something different for her life. Enter brooding and tormented Van Turner, Lucas’s teammate, and the man with whom Simone will fall in love. What ensues is the secret ‘friends with benefits’ relationship between Simone and Van, and the potential fall out as Van’s past is revealed for the world to see.

Van Turner is an unknown entity to the Cold Fury hockey team. A dark and dangerous past has our hero withdrawn, isolated, cold and calculating, refusing to acknowledge the elephant in the room; the demons that destroyed the family he once knew. Emotionally distant, with a temper to match, Van’s own teammates struggle with his attitude and actions, fearing reprisals if pushed too hard. Simone Fournier is a twenty-two year old young woman who struggles with a lack of direction, and her sexual attraction to a man who refuses to accept Simone, and everything she represents. Our heroine’s ‘seduction’ of Van Turner is methodical and calculating including pushing the boundaries of personal space and Van’s on-going rejection of Simone’s advances.

The relationship between Van and Simone is one of immediate attraction but saying that our heroine’s flirting and come-ons are not welcome by our story line hero. Van’s past is rife with betrayal and a darkness he prefers not to acknowledge-a darkness he believes threatens everyone he loves. The $ex scenes are numerous, erotic, intense and edgy but, once again, I take issue with the use of a certain four-letter word that I do NOT find romantic or seductive. Also, while Simone struggles with a lack of direction in her life, the choices she makes are questionable under the circumstances considering the close relationship with her family including two brothers who would do anything to help their little sister. For an intelligent woman she takes risks, and exposes herself to some controversial and problematic situations.

Several of the previous story line couples play secondary and supporting characters including Simone’s brother Lucas and Stephanie, Max and Julianne, as well as Van’s aunt Etta, a woman he loves like a mother.

VAN is an emotional story line of one man’s desperate attempts to move on from the past, and one woman’s frenzied pursuit of the man that calls to her heart. The premise is impassioned and heart-breaking; the characters are colorful but broken; the romance is highly sexual and energetic-Van and Simone like it rough in the bedroom. VAN is a bold and lively addition to the author’s Cold Fury Hockey series.
