ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 24, 2017

How do you recover when life kick-boxes your soul?

Becca Gable is fighting to stay on her feet after a series of crushing losses. She’s always been the good girl until the events of the past year push her to make a mistake she can’t take back. Now, her corporate finance job and her fiancé are gone thanks to her newly-acquired criminal record.

Shane Marlow survived an IED blast during his service in Iraq—but half his team did not. Physically healed, he returns to his home county as a K9 officer. The scars of loss run deep and though local folks admire him, no one truly gets him—until Becca literally lands in front of him.

Their bond of shared tragedy evolves into a connection both fiery and healing. But a stalker decides that Becca’s crime should stay front and center. As the unsettling episodes reveal that no part of her life is secret, Shane is all that stands between her and the enemy.

REVIEW: Life is full of ups and downs. When it comes to downs like traumas or bad mistakes with nasty consequences such events can be life changing. Either it can invite more bad events that follow or make you second guess some things about yourself. Sometimes it is easy to fall into the pity party tirade of “why me?” Who would’ve guessed that bad events can lead two people together? For Shane and Becca that seems to be the case.

I really enjoyed Shane and Becca as a couple. Perfect amounts of red hot attraction and deep emotional intimacy that would cause any bystander to have to look away. When it comes to opening up about their traumas or mistakes, they both showed tremendous compassion and understanding to each other it really gives you the feels. Which brings me to my favorite part of the book. I felt like it was an emotionally a huge turning point in the book. Shane was on Redemption Hill alone with his dog, Denver having a beer due to a bad day of old demons riding him. Becca joined him later. More discussion and feelings about their pasts. I must say it was the most romantic part of the book. Aside from the emotional stuff, the physical love scenes are as much enjoyable and did not disappoint. Especially the scene where it happened on the stairs in Shane’s house because they could not make it to his bedroom upstairs. All this happened all because they met in the funniest way possible.

Throughout the book, Becca has a stalker wreaking havoc on her life. I have to admit it was a little easy to guess who the stalker was. Though I admit that it kind of pissed me off that the stalker was not letting Becca’s mistake go like she was undeserving of happiness she found with Shane and that the mistake should be held over her forever or something. Quite frankly the way of thinking of the stalker was quite sick.

With Shane being a mystery in the first book, it was great to see Shane get a book as well as a chance to get to know him. You get to see cameos of the characters from the previous book and it is great seeing them again. Again like the previous book, I really liked this book and look forward to who is next to get their story told.

REVIEW: Mistakes…we all make them, it’s the beauty of what makes us human. We are not made to be perfect and never make mistakes. Mistakes help us grow, give us lessons and yes wizen us up. Enjoyable book this was complete with a good lesson to think about.

The main couple has their skeletons in the closet, at least Rosie’s is in the closet when Cruz’s is out in the open, all over the internet to be exact. Growing up and living in a small town where everyone knows each other’s business, Rosie guards this secret like King Midas’s gold. The thing is I firmly believe a mistake is a learning lesson; it does not define you nor should it be a jail sentence. Cruz at times let his juvenile past define him that there was no good left in him while Rosie suffered in silence with guilt like a jail sentence. They both in the beginning acted like they were very undeserving of happiness. I admit the parts where they acted undeserving of each other and happiness was a tad sad to read. Despite that their chemistry together was off the charts hot. Their outdoor scene against Cruz’s truck and skinny dipping in the water…*fans herself*. For a dude who lost 10 years of his life in jail, he sure knows what he’s doing in the bedroom with Rosie. There are also very cute and endearing scenes between the couple like when they went to the fair together or at a birthday party.

I really enjoyed their individual characters too. Rosie had a very sunny upbeat attitude that was very contagious, you couldn’t help but smile when you read about her. Her selfless attitude that she thinks of others before herself only makes you like her more. Cruz was very honest, honorable and full of integrity. He may think there is no redeeming him because of his past but starting over in Sundown, cleaning up and settling down looks like a step in the right direction to me.

Reading about them helping each other through their past mistakes was deep stuff and you can just feel the relationship hit a turning point that things are getting serious between them. Rosie was compassionate and non-judgmental of Cruz’s past and Cruz was patient and very understanding when Rosie finally let her walls down and let Cruz in on her big secret.

Sharon Kay does gnarly awesome paranormal romances but her contemporary romance is a great surprise. Awesome characters and character development, deep and swoon worthy love scenes, great lesson to think about and the best and cutest happily ever after.

REVIEW: It was supposed to be another rescue mission to Raul and his team of Watcher Lash warriors. To rescue the hostages that Splinter captured. What Raul didn’t expect was that one of the hostages was the girl he left behind in his home town to become a Watcher warrior. Sparks fly as they both realize that their inner fires for each other never died out despite the time and distance from each other.

Yowza! Wow! Hot damn! Those are the expressions to describe Raul and Daphne’s chemistry. I seriously felt like sparks were flying off the pages at times with their off the charts chemistry. It was like their time away from each other and being reunited only made the flames burn hotter.? Reunited and it feels so good ?sure did for this couple that’s for sure. I really enjoyed their love scenes. Their love scenes were so full of passion and rawness to it. It was the perfect mix of carnal desire and soft core romance. The ending sure was something. When Raul and Daphne finally tell each other that they love each other was so emotion-packed it was impossible for the scene to not tug at the heart strings.

Aside from all the lovey-dovey action going on between Raul and Daphne, there was many elements to like about this book. I was enjoying the second chance at love concept. The character development and growth was most definitely appreciated. Daphne is very likeable but her character came off very timid. She desired a simple life of being a teacher, being mated and having children. There is nothing wrong with what she wants in life but when she comes to accept and embrace Raul’s way of life as a warrior, I felt my admiration for her grow. And when she was able to put her fears aside to use her powers to help Raul and his team, my respect for her continued to grow.

Closing thoughts, I really liked this one. I highly recommend this one you won’t regret it. You get off the charts chemistry, awesome character growth, and appearances of previous characters that we all love.

•••••••••

REVIEW: Back from another fun journey from the wonderful and mystical realm of Torth where the twins moons light up their night sky. So many places within this realm I get the pleasure of visiting and in this book we are in the witch coven of Brownwy.

So this book picks up from Tainted Kiss where a mission goes awry and our hero, Scorpio goes missing. Injured and alone, Scorpio finds himself imprisoned at the hands of a witch coven that wants him dead. With Scorpio’s past as a mercenary, what better time for his past to catch up to him? And not only have that but, to find his mate in the midst of this group of witches that despised him? With so many missions under Scorpio’s belt, to gain the forgiveness of a whole witch coven and win the heart of his mate may be his most important mission yet.

In previous books, Scorpio was a man of few words and a cold unfeeling man with no emotion. He carries such an air of mystery that leaves you wondering what his story is and what shaped him to be the cold, lethal powerful man in Arwan’s watcher ranks.

Seeing Scorpio in action was a thing of beauty. The man is a powerful fighter and efficient killer complete with mind-numbing speed to boot. Charging dire wolves, snapping necks with his bare hands to throwing demon fire out of his hands oh my…. The only complaint was I wish I got to see how good he is with weapons but unfortunately his got taken away upon his capture initially. I was really surprised with how much I really liked Scorpio. For his hardened disposition, I expected a mean, slightly domineering man who can’t relate to others but no the man was continuing to win point after point with me. Scorpio was truly a man of honor who stayed true to his word. I really appreciated that the man used endless compassion, empathy and a world of patience to win Tessa over. Under all that hardened unemotion, is a kind, compassionate selfless man who puts others before himself. These books without fail make me fall hard for these watcher warriors of Torth. If you want selfless, kind and honorable men in your books, I suggest reaching for these books.

Tessa on the other hand was no slouch either. Tessa turned out to be an awesome witch with her own impressive abilities. I only wish to see more of her metal affinity abilities more throughout the book. After their terrible initial meeting, I was worried that Scorpio was going to kill himself trying to win over Tessa especially after reading the prologue but thankfully that was not the case because of her awesome intellect to see the bigger picture of his past actions. They made a spectacular match. I really enjoyed their physically love scenes I did but it was their emotional connection that left me breathless with awe.

I felt like Sharon had slowed the pace of this book compared to her other books with fast paced adventure but it was nice. Damien of the Vespera was a worthy villain and it was great to see the appearance of the other characters from previous books (Brenin needs a story ASAP). I really enjoyed this book and eagerly waiting for my next trip to Torth.

How music inspires my plot and character details.
by Sharon Kay

First, a big THANK YOU to Sandy for inviting me to be a guest at The Reading Café today!! I’ll be sharing the ways that music inspires my plot and character details.

We all get songs stuck in our heads sometimes. Maybe every day. Maybe it’s a song we love or maybe it’s from one of our kid’s toys and we’ll turn on anything else to get that annoying jingle out of our heads.

For me, a song stuck in my head can easily morph into a scene. And some songs hit me like a wrecking ball (eek, sorry, I couldn’t resist that one)! Sometimes a song will play out and a plot detail unfolds in my brain.

For example, with my new release, Assassin’s Kiss (Watcher’s Kiss #2), I knew that the hero, Scorpio, would be missing at the end of the previous book. I was working on that book (Tainted Kiss) and not sure exactly where I would strand Scorpio. (Yes, I stranded him. I am so mean to my characters sometimes!) Then, I was sitting at my hair salon, and Katy’s Perry’s “Dark Horse” came on the radio.

I wasn’t planning to hash out Scorpio’s plot that day, but cue the inspiration machine (and Katy singing about magic and enemies), and BAM!
I suddenly knew Scorpio would be found among witches who wanted him dead, and his mate would be among them. And that his mercenary past plus her initial judgement of him would form the central romantic conflict.

Soft pink lips moved in an ancient dialect, her voice a low, breathy murmur that made his head spin. She could be spelling him into a magical coma and he’d be okay with it.

Yay! I dashed home and started making notes and a blurb. Of course, I still had to write the entire 300 pages, but it’s easier to get to THE END when I have guideposts along the way.

I like to run on the treadmill, pop in my earbuds, and let my mind wander. This is how I ended up choosing Linkin Park’s “A New Divide” as my main inspiration for On Wicked Ground (Solsti Prophecy #4). My heroine, Alina, can manipulate the earth, so I could “see” the ground opening up. There is a big showdown at the end, so when the band describes black skies, lightning, and ashes, this fit that scene perfectly. I still get chills as the hero, Caine, tries to stop her from making the ultimate sacrifice!

Thunder clapped and the light flashed as brightly as the sun, forcing Caine to look away. With a crash and a boom, the light and Alina dropped down into the earth, leaving nothing but churned up dirt.

One day, while I was writing Wicked Waves (Solsti Prophecy #2), I was at my son’s soccer practice and “We Found Love” came on. I enthusiastically said, “I love this song! It’s Brooke and Kai’s song!” And the other moms I was sitting with looked at me and said, “Um, who?” So I need to remember that not everyone knows these characters like I do (which can be REALLY tough)!

My characters live in my head. They’re like another family. They bicker, act stubborn, and don’t listen to me all the time. Sometimes they talk or act so fast I feel like I can’t write fast enough to get it all down. But if I can find a song to capture what they’re going through, I can listen as much as I want and get each detail right. In Wicked Waves, Brooke and Kai need to escape a dungeon and the only way out is by making a hundred foot jump into a fast moving river.

Not only is this crazy-dangerous, but these two don’t like each other much at first and the area they’re stuck in is bleak and lifeless. So when I heard Rihanna’s “We Found Love,” it all clicked. They need to trust each other to survive in this wasteland. Luckily, the death–defying plunge into the river is aided by Brooke’s ability to manipulate water.

He looked down at her, his eyes flashing with a mix of emotions. “Brooke, I might be able to heal, but you…I don’t know if you will. I can’t risk it. You’re a Solsti. You’re too important.”

“Yes, Kai, I am a Solsti. The one who commands WATER.”

“Gods help us,” he muttered, but he wrapped his brawny arms around her waist. To her shock, he lowered his head and pressed a swift kiss to her lips.

So music equals scenes, which equals plot details, or sometimes even just the past events that shape my characters’ lives. Did they have a rough childhood or a dark past they had to overcome? It’s also nice to give a character a music preference. In Wicked Flames (Solsti Prophecy #3) my heroine liked eighties music, and I was able to incorporate lots of eighties rock into the book.

One last goofy detail: though I love music for inspiration—I need to write in silence! I’ll listen to the song, see the action unfold in my mind, then press pause and go write. That’s where I’m headed now! Thanks for stopping by!

His dark and sexy moodiness draws her, but he’s a hard man to approach as he keeps the world at emotional arm’s length.

Yet every day brings them closer to shocking facts. Evil stirs in his blood, and hiding the truth from her will be the ultimate betrayal

••••••••••••

REVIEW: Just when you thought that all was well and done on the realm of Torth after the defeat Elegia, another adventure begins. And who best to start a new adventure with the mysterious Lash leader, Arawn and the lovely yet tough as nails female warrior, Ria. They made a really worthy and suitable match. They balanced and complemented each other in the right places or how Ria herself had it phrased, “we can fill in each other’s gaps.” Their love scenes lived up to my expectations especially when it came to sex between two powerful people. One word I would use to describe their love scenes is raw. They show raw passion, raw hunger and most importantly, raw love. All the centuries of buried feelings all came out bubbling out over the surface in that first love scene. Love it!

Mr.Arawn most certainly surprised me that there was much more to him than being a broody and mysterious leader of the Lash warrior watchers. He has hopes, dreams, weaknesses and secrets. To add to the cherry on top of things, you’ll just melt when you see his romantic side. He is a leader with a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders but despite that, he truly cares about his warriors like they’re family. He is a courageous and fierce warrior but with honor to never a warrior behind. It was a treat to read about Arawn’s past and childhood. I was very surprised to find out Arawn was once mated but lost her when she was killed while he was on the job. In spite of that painful part of his past, Arawn took that second chance at love with both hands and didn’t let go. Another trait of Arawn I love, his decisiveness which I know is a given as a leader but still gotta love a man who takes charge.

I’ve always liked Ria from the other previous books but getting to see her warrior side was a thing of beauty. She is the epitome of why I love when the main heroine is a warrior/fighter. I admire her ability to hold her own in a fight and always striving to prove herself that she is just a good warrior as the rest of the guys. I most definitely respect her for that. She has her own air of sexiness but at the same time exudes her own strength and power as a warrior. It’s no wonder Arawn had eyes on her for centuries. On top of all that, she is compassionate and kind.

I know I have said this before but, Sharon Kay still keeps amazing me with her ability as an author. I love how she knows how to seamlessly weave in other plots as well as drop hints on which book is next. She does all of this without sacrificing the story arc. Again that is some serious skill. I am curious though as to if Brenin’s ever going to get a book? He’s been lurking around in all the books and I think his book would be so cute. I appreciate Sharon Kay’s ability to balance the focus on the main story arc as well the as the forming relationship between Arawn and Ria without sacrificing either elements.

Again it was my pleasure to visit the amazing world of Torth. I hope to continue visiting this whimsical realm. I just love how that realm is amazing and full of magic, the characters are super likeable and appealing, the story arc never fails to disappoint, the love scenes are through the roof on how steamy they are and the fight scenes leave you breathless with awe. The total package right here!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 13, 2015

The lost memories of a thief…
The first twelve years of Alina’s life are a black void. An accomplished thief, she uses her cloaking ability to pick pockets as well as stage elaborate heists. Digging deeper into her past sets off a chain of events that puts her, and the family she has just discovered, in the sights of their worst enemy.

…and the scarred heart of a guardian…
In secret, Lash Watcher Caine plots vengeance for the destruction of everything he loved. Branded by loss, he longs to find his one true mate, knowing that only with her will his heart fully heal. When his brief meeting with Alina is interrupted by her elaborate evade-and-escape plan, he knows there is more to her than meets his watchful eyes. But nothing can prepare him for the lethal power of her mind.

…collide at the fault line of destiny.
A brilliant villain with a vicious and loyal army behind her can only be stopped by one force: the combined power of four women who command the elements. Alina, with her newly-discovered affinity to the earth, becomes the linchpin to halting the desecration of their world. Thrown into a battle plan and a new family, she finds joy in in the quiet strength of Caine’s arms. But when the secrets to her past are revealed, she learns a terrible price has been paid in advance. The very magic that allowed her to live to fulfill a prophecy will forever deny her heart’s deepest wish.

•••••••••••••••

Finally the conclusion to the Solsti prophecy and let me tell you the Bonham sisters totally kicked ass. I love that every sister has their own personalities but steely resolve is what they all have in common. *fist pumps* So while we know Nicole commands the air, Brooke commands water and Gin commands fire it’s easy to conclude that we need a earth element to complete the circle. And guess who gets the honor to command earth, the one and only and thought to be deceased baby sister Alina. And just like her sisters, she also gets paired with a hottie Lash demon and who better than Caine who she ran into during a party when she was on the job with her father.

One of the things I really liked about this book was despite the height of the story arc, there was plenty of scenes where Alina and Caine bonded but at the same time the story arc was not sacrificed in the least. That right there was a nice balance and one I felt took some real skill as an author. Like Gin and Mathias, I felt like their story fell on the more romantic side. I’m not complaining when I’m saying this but Nicole and Brooke’s books fell a little on the…horny side which isn’t a bad thing but Gin and Alina’s fall more into the touchy-feely romantic side. My favorite part was when Caine transported him and Alina to a secret place near his hometown where they got to swim naked together, walk through rows of cilantro growing, having Torth butterflies swarm them and having sex on the grass near the water. You also get to know the mysterious Caine a bit more. Best scene Sharon Kay has ever written. Not only has this scene left me hot and bothered but stunned by the level of emotion in the scene.

Now for the other best part, seeing the sisters in action and using their abilities to its fullest. One word to describe it all, MAGNIFICENT! On what they can do with their elements were endless ranging from Alina opening the ground to drop enemies beneath the earth to Nicole and Brooke combining their powers to create ice knives to shoot at enemies to Gin creating fire nooses. Sorry to sound like a dork but the final battle with the Lash demon watchers, Solsti and Undead Demon warriors vs. Vampire Elegia and her doped up army of super plant drug goonies was EPIC. The only thing I had to admit was the death of Elegia was a little on the quick side. I felt like maybe she was hyped up to be this scary unstoppable lady doped up on her super plant drug even if she described to be frail but it was a bunch of trash talking and then the sisters killing her at a drop of a hat.

Also for those who are following this series alongside me, you also get to find out what happened with Alina on how she was still alive when she was thought to be “dead” and the sad price for her life. And even though Sebastian was only her adoptive father who found her, I found their relationship quite endearing because I can see how much he grew to love her like his daughter. And not to worry, all loose ends are tied up in this book.

To Sharon Kay, it was mega honor to read this remarkable series. I loved every second of the adventure ranging from the awesome heroines and their hottie Lash demon mates, blood racing fights and scenes to keep you on the edge of your seats, hard core love action, and best of all good winning over evil. Besides an author who can draw emotion out of me so strongly that I almost cried on a gym elliptical gets a thumbs up in my opinion!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 7, 2014

This novella is a companion piece to the Solsti series and can be read as a stand-alone.

Kidnapped as a teen and forced into a life of sexual slavery, Garnet vowed long ago to do whatever she could to spare others her fate. When karma comes full circle with an offer of freedom for her and her young son, she jumps at the chance.

Masquerading as a village innkeeper, Aden keeps his espionage work secret from the gentle pixies he lives among. Using his skills to prevent a group of vicious demons from attacking the innocent, his world is draped in mist, shadow, and danger.

Steeped in shame, Garnet is loath to share her past with Aden. But Aden senses a sweet, loyal strength in her that no amount of horror can erase. His dangerous work is the opposite of the stability Garnet craves. Yet Aden’s patience and strength make him the hero she never had. When the enemy targets them, Garnet and Aden realize that honesty is the truest form of courage.

REVIEW: A novella such as this is like a decadent little morsel of a dessert like a petit four or a French macaroon. Sweet heaven packed into a little slip of a morsel. Despite how short this novella is, I savored every bit of this book. It was a good story that left me wanting more and I mean that in a good way. For those of you who are following the Solsti series know about Garnet who helped Kai and Brooke escape Stroehm, you get to find out about what happens to her.

After bearing….wait for it…172 years of slavery, Garnet and her six year old son Dash are offered a fresh start in life. The uneventful death of the leader of Stroehm paves the way for Garnet and Dash to escape with the help of Mathias and Bianca who was sent by Kai and Brooke. Lucky for Garnet, Kai and Brooke never forgot the time when Garnet helped Kai and Brooke escape Stroehm in Wicked Waves. It seems to me that Kai and Garnet have an interesting relationship of helping each other and paying back the kindness. First Kai helps Garnet out her thrall slavery, then Garnet helps bust Kai and Brooke out of Stroehm and then Kai sends help to get Garnet and her son out of Stroehm.

Anyways, you get to learn about Garnet and her background before she was forced into her slave life. You learn about her special abilities and her hometown in which she decides to come back to and start her life over there. To make things even better for Garnet and Dash, everyone around them is extremely kind to them. Dash even adjusts really well to going to school. To me it actually seems like Garnet and Dash’s fresh start is perfect. I liked Garnet and Dash but I have to admit that I wish for more dimension to Garnet’s character like when she worked on growing plants or her work in the kitchen, she shows her strengths in her skills and I wish she used them more and in detail more in the book. I found that side of her entertaining. Aside from that, I enjoyed Garnet. She was the epitome of feminine softness in the sense that she was very maternal, alluring yet demure at the same time, and compassionate. Garnet is a really likeable character and wasn’t in the least bit annoying to me. And then there is Aden. Where do I being with Aden? Of all the guys I met in this series, I felt like Aden was the most romantic one. He was very kind, compassionate, understanding and most of all patient with Garnet. Given her history as a thrall slave he never pushed her into doing something she didn’t want to do, he saw to her pleasure before his own when they did finally get together and from what I can see it seemed like when it came to doing some things he gave her the control to take things where she felt comfortable. The extra bonus was that Aden and Dash got along very well. Aden was chivalrous gentlemen. Despite that, he also has a rough side to him where he is tough and fights like a warrior.

I loved this book and I enjoyed the privilege of reading it. I love fresh starts because let’s face it life gets messy. We do things we regret or not proud of, we forget who we are in the face of trying to please everyone around us, we end up in very unfavorable circumstances and fall into a bad rut that we sometimes all need that clean slab to start over on. Garnet and Dash free themselves from a sordid and bad destiny into a good one where they have freedom and choices, security of a home and a sense of community and belonging in Ivydale. I love that despite the abuse Garnet had to face, she was still willing to open herself up to be loved. Not that it was an easy feat for her due to her inner demons thinking herself worthless and “damaged goods” but that she deserves to be loved and taken care of for a change. I love that despite Garnet’s past and even her extra baggage; Aden was able to see and admire a woman of strength, courage and selflessness. I really look forward to reading more on this awesome series. Give this series a try because you won’t regret it.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 2014

Gin Bonham lives with a dark secret. Born with an ability she never wanted, she builds her life around science and logic, running from the terror she is capable of causing. When sexy stranger Mathias spots her on a dance floor and cuts in, he leads Gin in a sensual rhythm that continues long after the music stops. But Mathias hides the fact that he knows exactly what she can do: in the deepest recesses of her mind lurks the power to manipulate fire. Destiny is coming for her and it doesn’t care if she’s ready or not.

Mathias possesses tracking and espionage skills so extraordinary that his fellow Lash demons call him The Hunter. Pursue and interrogate. He never fails. When he is tasked with coaxing Gin to work with the Lash demons against a common enemy, he relishes the challenge. But meeting her awakens a new, primal drive that pulls him toward her even as his tactics break her heart.

Welcome back to the awesome realm of Torth and the legendary prophecy of the Solsti sisters! Each of the Solsti sister controls the elements of air, water, fire and earth which is already phenomenal but they are also destined to restore the order and balance in the realms. It’s kind of crazy to think about to have a very impressive power but also be given a very large responsibility that comes with it. While it was a blast to meet Nicole who controls the air and Brooke who controls water totally kick butt and completely embrace their abilities, Gin who controls fire is a totally different story. Gin does the opposite and doesn’t embrace her abilities but looks at her ability to control fire likes it’s a curse. I like to call her the reluctant Solsti but don’t worry as I don’t like her less than Brooke or Nicole. Gin turned out to be a really smart scientist who got her Masters as well as a skilled ballroom dancer. I liked how the book described her to be a both-side of the brain type of gal. But the thing I liked about all the sisters is that they all want to help others. ☺

I’ve always liked Mathias from Wicked Waves and I was glad to see that he was going to end up with Gin. I figured if anyone was going to persuade and get Gin past her demons about using her powers it was going to be Mathias. I got this vibe that Mathias just has a way with others as a tracker, he has a lot of connections to call in with all sorts of favors as well as get what he wants from others. With all that said, Mathias came off as a very kind and compassionate man. I really enjoyed how Gin and Mathias first met, it was such a sexy way to meet that Sharon Kay has to be a romantic to create such a scene. If you love sexy ballroom dances complete with instant sensual chemistry than you’ll love this scene along with fanning yourself with the sizzling spiciness of this scene. With such a great way for a relationship to start and take off, I had to admit that I desired more Gin and Mathias moments. I admit that at times I felt like some of their bonding scenes seemed rushed. Don’t get me wrong though because I really do like them as a couple and enjoyed their love scenes but I liked them so much that I wanted more love scenes from them. And even though I enjoy and look forward to the hot and steamy love scenes, the emotional substance is equally important to me in which this book was very rich. I absolutely love the scene where Gin and Mathias are sitting in the beach of Tarsa where Gin opens up to Mathias why she felt like her abilities were a curse and wanted nothing to do with them all the while Mathias listens to her with no judgment, compassion and complete understanding. It was such a beautifully written turning point in the book where Gin accepts her powers as well as her blooming relationship with Mathias. It was also a scene that you get to witness the beauty of Gin using her powers since she seldom uses her powers in the book.

Another thing to note is that I always find it interesting how Sharon Kay has the ability to tie in parts that seem irrelevant to the story until you find out later how it ties in. I love the shocking revelations you get to find out in the book. Not only that but it also paves the way to the next book that hints that Nicole, Brooke and Gin’s sister thought to be dead is very much alive. Also this book goes a whole lot more into the story arc of the evil Elegia and her plans. I am really enjoying this series and I very much look forward to the next book. I know there are a lot of element books and all but take my word for it that this series is really worth reading. ☺
