This is boat operator and single father Trace Weston, and YouTube makeup influencer Masey Garrett’s story line. MORE THAN DARE YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Trace is Noah Weston’s brother, and Masey is Harlow Reed Weston’s best friend (More Than Love You #3).

Told from first person perspective (Trace Weston) MORE THAN DARE YOU follows the building romance and relationship between boat operator and single father Trace Weston, and YouTube makeup influencer Masey Garrett. Breaking up with her boyfriend of ten years, LA native Masey Garrett finds herself in Maui at the invite of her best friend Harlow Weston but Masey is all about discovering what she is capable of, and in this Harlow sets Masey up with her husband’s brother Trace Weston. Trace Weston, a one-time manwhore might be able to teach Masey a thing or two about $ex both in and out of the bedroom, and in this Masey becomes a challenge for Weston but Weston never expected to lose his heart to our story line heroine. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Masey and Trace, and the potential fall-out as Masey’s time in Hawaii comes to a close.

Five months earlier Trace Weston discovered he was a father when the baby was dropped off at his brother’s front door because the mother thought she had a one-night stand with our hero’s brother. Fast forward to present day wherein Trace’s life revolves around the love he has for his son but when his sister in-law asked for a favor, our hero never expected the favor to wind up in bed with our story line heroine. For ten years, Masey Garrett believed she was a failure in bed having never lived up to her boyfriend’s expectations but catching said boyfriend with an internet porn star left Masey heart broken and feeling like a failure in love. When Harlow offered to set Masey up with Trace Weston, Masey found herself falling for a man who could potentially break her heart.

The relationship between Masey and Trace is one of immediate attraction but a relationship built upon Masey’s need to ‘learn’ about $ex. Masey never expected to fall for her best friend’s brother in law believing she would return to LA to seduce her new neighbor who had captured her eye. As Trace begins his sexual seduction of our story line heroine, Masey’s insecurities reappear to take over her thoughts. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. The palpable sexual attraction is apparent from their introduction.

The small cast of secondary and supporting characters include Noah and Harlow; Trace and Noah’s mother; Amanda, Nia, bodyguard Tanner Kirk, and Masey’s ex-boyfriend Thom. Tanner and Amanda’s story line is next in More Than Protect You

MORE THAN DARE YOU is a story of family, friendships, heart break and betrayal. The character driven premise is engaging and inviting; the characters are lively and sassy; the romance is sensitive, seductive and spirited. My only issue is the use of the word honey-used eighty (80) times by Trace to address our story line heroine-it’s as though he forgot her name, and used ‘honey’ as his only form of address. ‘Honey’ becomes redundant and repetitive, and a big turn-off after the first twenty or so times.

“Let’s just let it happen.”
“I’ve never been good at that.”
Because she’s never had the chance; Thom didn’t make it possible. I have a feeling that she’s tried to fantasize her way into the experience she wanted with her ex—and failed. Wicked as Sin, and Wicked ever After run parallel to and cross over with the author’s Devoted to Pleasure (Devoted Lovers #1)

Told from dual third person perspectives (Pierce and Brea) WICKED EVER AFTER continues to follow the struggling relationship between US military sniper Pierce ’One-Mile’ Walker, and preacher’s daughter /hair stylist Brea Bell. Pierce Walker works for EM Security Management but struggles with an assignment that went all to h*ll. There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Brea’s best friend and Pierce Walker’s nemesis Cutter Bryant (Devoted to Pleasure , Devoted Lovers #1), Brea’s father Preacher Bell, her fellow workers at the local salon, and several members of EM Security Management whom we previously met in both the Wicked Lovers, and Devoted Lovers series.

WICKED EVER AFTER is a story of heart break and betrayal; secrets and lies; friendship, family, hope and love. The premise is emotional and captivating; the characters are numerous, energetic, broken and wounded; the romance struggles in the face of preconceived notions, religious beliefs and time apart.

“I dreamed of this, too.” He swirled his tongue around her, shoving his fingers inside her, then nipped at her tender bud with his teeth. When her little yelp morphed into a moan, he gave her a dark smile. “I dreamed of making you take every dirty thing I’m desperate to give you.”
And then he stopped talking because he didn’t want another fucking thing to interfere with him consuming her. Sweet and tart and clean, everything about her flavor was so Brea. He wanted to bottle it. He wanted to bathe in it. He wanted it on his tongue always.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Pierce and Brea) WICKED AS SIN follows the building relationship between mercenary for hire Pierce ‘One-Mile’ Walker, and preacher’s daughter Brea Bell. Since the day they met Pierce Walker has thought about nothing else than preacher’s daughter Brea Bell but her best friend and supposed lover Cutter Bryant had all but threatened our story line hero if he made a move for the woman in question. Brea knew that her friendship with Cutter Bryant was nothing more than a brotherly love but meeting Pierce Walker drew Brea like a moth to a flame, to the forbidden fruit in the proverbial Garden of Eden but a call to duty found Pierce Walker struggling to survive, and Brea would ensure that she was the woman to make the hurt go away. What ensues is the slow building relationship between Brea and Pierce, as our couple battle their attraction, and Cutter Bryant, in an effort to grow beyond friendship and nothing more.

Pierce Walker is a sharp-shooter; a sniper who never misses but his reputation as a cold-hearted killer, and possible man-whore has Cutter Bryant going all alpha on our story line heroine. Pierce Walker knows that the only woman he would ever love is quite possibly in love with someone else but little did he know that not all was what it appeared to be. Brea Bell is an innocent; a preacher’s daughter who has been protected by everyone including Cutter Bryant but our heroine likes what she sees in Pierce Walker, and goes out of her way to make sure Pierce knows she is interested as well.

The relationship between Pierce and Brea is one of immediate attraction but Cutter Bryant is desperate to make sure our couple stay clear of one another including claiming Brea for himself. Brea is a helper and nurturer by nature, and an injured Pierce is the perfect back drop to set up our story line couple.The $ex scenes are passionate and seductive but I take issue with the use of a certain four-letter word I find unnecessary in my romance story line.

We are introduced to Brea’s best friend Cutter Bryant; her father Reverend Bell, as well as Pierce’s commanding officer Colonel Caleb Edgington.

WICKED AS SIN: One-Mile and Brea Part One is a story of family and friendships; over-protective alpha males; suspense and conflict; acceptance and love. The premise is engaging and captivating; the characters are energetic, colorful and dynamic; the romance is spicy and spirited but I did struggle with Brea’s reluctance or inability to defend Pierce Walker against the accusations hurled by Cutter Bryant, accusations that could destroy our story line couple especially Pierce Walker who did nothing wrong to warrant Cutter’s caustic allegations and incriminations. WICKED AS SIN Part One ends on a cliff hanger, you have been warned.

What the devil was she doing here? Courting danger. Pierce Walker was more man than she could handle. She was likely to get herself in over her head.
But Brea owed him her thanks. And, okay…she was dying to see him again.
What could five minutes alone with the man hurt?
Suddenly, the volume on the music dropped under a dull roar and heavy footfalls got louder as they headed her way. Then the door whipped open, and Pierce stood on the other side of the threshold, scowling.
He was covered in nothing but ink, body hair, and bulging muscle from the waist up. Well-washed jeans hung low on his hips. He dangled the neck of a half-empty beer in one hand. His bare feet were built like the rest of him—big and overwhelmingly masculine.
Brea sucked in a silent, shaking breath. “Hi.”
“Brea.” His scowl disappeared. “This is a surprise.”
How was it possible that his eyes had been on her a handful of seconds and she somehow felt naked?
“Sorry to drop by. I-I just wanted to thank you.” She held out the container to him.
He took the dish from her hands. “For what?”
As Pierce propped himself against the doorframe and stared, she nearly lost herself in his fathomless black eyes. She forced herself to blink, but her wayward gaze wandered down his body. A Marine crest tattoo covered his right pectoral. More dark ink enveloped both shoulders, emphasizing every ridge and swell of his sizable physique. Well-washed denim cupped the substantial bulge between his legs.
And she utterly forgot everything she’d planned to say.
“Brea?”
His deep voice jolted her. She jerked her gaze from places it didn’t belong and cleared her throat. “Um…helping me get to the hospital the day Daddy collapsed. And for bringing my car to me afterward. It was very kind of you.”
“No problem. How’s he doing now?”
“Recovering. His surgery went well. Since you thoughtfully left me your contact information in my console, I meant to come sooner to tell you how much I appreciated your help, but I’ve been taking care of him. I finally got a few minutes, so I-I brought you these cookies. Since I didn’t know what you liked, I baked a few different kinds…” She dropped her gaze to collect her thoughts and stop rambling, but her stare glued itself to him again, this time fixating on his ridiculously delineated twelve-pack abs. “But you don’t look like you eat many.”
He laughed. Pierce Walker was menacing when he scowled, but when he smiled he was stunning. Something wild and reckless quivered in her belly, urging her to put her hands on him, press herself against him, beg him to somehow stop this breathless, fluttery yearning she’d only ever felt with him.
“Because I don’t have anyone baking me cookies.” He peeled the lid off the top and peered down. “These look good.”
“I baked the chocolate chip without nuts. I didn’t know if you were allergic.”
“I’m not.”
“I also included checkerboard, cinnamon sugar, and gluten-free almond wafer.”
“Thank you.” He curled his fingers around her shoulder. They burned like a brand as he scooted her breathlessly close to his naked torso and locked the door behind them. “Why don’t you come in and let me get you something to drink?”
“I shouldn’t stay. I would never want to interrupt your…” Goodness, what had he been doing? It was a Friday night. Maybe he was getting ready to go out. Or heaven forbid, planning to stay in…with female company.
“Game of pool. You’re not interrupting. Stay. Like a lot of things, it’s a lot more fun when you’re not playing alone.” He winked.
His seemingly suggestive words sparked a reaction low in her belly. “I-I’ve never played.”
He raised a dark brow. “Ever?”
“Daddy isn’t much for games. My friends aren’t, either.”
“What about Cutter?”
She shrugged. “He’s never shown any interest.”
He sent her a stare that looked somewhere between stunned and dubious. “You sure? I’ve seen him play.”
That didn’t surprise Brea. Cutter had a whole life she barely knew about. “I’m sure he does, but not with me.”
“I find that hard to believe.”
Were they still talking about billiards? “Anyway, I won’t keep you…”
“Don’t go. One game.” He wrapped his arm around her middle and ushered her deeper into his house. “What do you say?”
She risked a glance up at him. “You’re sure I’m not in your way?”
“No. I’m thrilled as hell to have you here, pretty girl.”
That low, deep declaration of his did something to her insides. Heat crawled up her cheeks. She ran her tongue across her suddenly dry lips. “O-one game, then.”

Maggie was shocked to feel her hand tremble when she put her fingers in Josiah Grant’s massive palm. He’d been more than nice to look at, and she’d already entertained more than one fantasy about how hot he might look out of that sharp charcoal-gray suit. But now that she was actually going to touch him, her brain felt in eminent danger of short-circuiting. How the devil would she manage if he actually kissed her? Peeled off her clothes? Thrust his hard cock—which should be large, given the size of his hands—inside her?
She’d combust on the spot.
“Sure,” she managed to murmur while seeming somewhere between cool and detached. It was her signature move.
As they reached the dance floor, the party tune faded away, replaced by Ed Sheeran crooning that he’d love the woman in his arms until he was seventy. As Josiah pulled her close and began to sway to the slow beat, she peered up at him. Her lashes fluttered, along with her heart. She sucked in a breath. He let loose a laugh. “See? I’m a lot of things, but a liar isn’t one of them.”
Josiah glided them around the floor effortlessly, turning her under his arm, reeling her in closer, then settling his hot fingertips in the middle of her bare back before he caressed his way down her spine and placed his palm close to her ass.
Lord, he felt good. Maggie tried not to imagine how his fingers would feel skimming her whole body with that soft, unhurried stroke. “Tell me . . . Were you in the service, like Cutter?”
Josiah shook his head. “CIA.”
Wow. “That sounds dangerous.”
“The mortality rate was higher than, say, for an accountant.”
“Why do I get the feeling that’s an understatement?”
He simply shrugged. Okay, he didn’t want to talk about it. Or couldn’t. She respected that.
“How long have you worked for EM Security?”
“About a year. I signed on because I wanted to learn from the best. Then a few months later, Caleb Edgington retired. Thankfully, his sons have proven anything but amateur. What about you?”
Since he’d done important things like save the world, he would laugh a million times at what she’d chosen to do with her life. At least he’d never guess. It wasn’t as if a guy like him would ever read an Azalea North novel. In fact, no one had figured her secret out yet, not even her sister.
“I’m . . . on hold right now. Shealyn has this big life to lead, and now she’s married. My grandparents are needing more help as they get older. Papa fell last week. Thankfully, he wasn’t hurt, but Granna can’t lift him. I barely can. And she can’t remember to take her medicine half the time. They’re little issues, at least right now. But they’re going to require more care in the coming years.”
“What about your mom? Can she help?”
Maggie bit back something pointless he wouldn’t understand and she’d probably regret. “She lives in Costa Rica with her husband and my ten-year-old half brother. Up until the last few months, she really hasn’t been in my life. We’re, um . . . getting to know each other.”
“You didn’t grow up with her?”
She shook her head. “Long story.”
Hopefully, he’d read between the lines. In her book, it was a closed subject. She still wasn’t entirely sure how she felt about her mom. A few conversations didn’t erase a whole childhood of resentment, but Maggie wasn’t the sort to hold on to hate. And it wasn’t as if her youth in Comfort had been terrible.
“What about your parents?” she said to fill what could become an awkward silence.
“Long story, as well.”
In other words, he had secrets he’d rather keep, too. Fine by her.
The silence she’d been trying to avoid fell between them. Surprisingly, it wasn’t awkward at all. But it was tight, full of awareness. She could feel herself yearning to be closer to him. But what blindsided her was his desire for her. It hung so thick in the air it was almost tangible. Like a blanket, it wrapped around her, warmed her from the January chill that blew in under the tent. It left her no doubt what he thought or wanted.
The song ended. Neither one of them moved, simply stared. Those wicked fingertips of his prowled their way up her bare back again, making her shiver, before gliding down in a barely there caress.
“Josiah?”
“How much longer do you have to stay at the reception?”
Half dazed, she scanned the room. Her sister was wrapped in her husband’s arms on the opposite corner of the dance floor. Granna and Papa had already retired. Brea, bless her, had finally managed to calm her stomach enough to enjoy the festivities. The rest of the guests had either left or kicked off their shoes, started their third drink, and gotten ready to party.
“Not another minute. Are you planning to take me to bed?”
He cupped her cheek, looking like he wanted to kiss her. Instead, he backed away, teeth gritted in restraint—for now. She had a feeling that moderation wouldn’t last.

“Can one of you keep an eye on Beth? She’s getting hit on a lot, which I told her to expect. But one creepy guy who was here last night is here again today. He seems awfully determined.”
“The one in the loud Hawaiian shirt with the matching personality?” my buddy asks.
“That one. He parked his ass in her station as soon as we opened. He’s been messing with her ever since.”
“I’ll take care of it,” I chime in.
First, when I bartended on the side in the past, I saw a lot of the girls struggle with dirtbags who refused to understand that no means no. Second, coming to her rescue will be a great way to meet Bethany and start gaining her trust. I refuse to think about how excited my libido is to spend time with her.
“Thanks, Clint.”
With that, Andy dismisses us. Ash and I file down the hall.
My buddy laughs. “You in the role of Bethany’s protector. Oh, the irony…”
“Hey, I’m not out to hurt her. I just want justice. I have no doubt she helped to swindle those people, so she deserves to pay as the law provides.”
“Fair enough. But, um…she clearly flips your switch. How are you going to keep your paws off her?”
Bethany Banks turning me on visually is fucking inconvenient. I’m sure that once I start talking to the woman, her personality will quickly turn me off. “I’ll work it out.”
“Ready for the madhouse?”
I follow Ash behind the bar. “Let’s do it.”
It takes me less than ten minutes to learn the ropes. Then Ash introduces me to the other waitress on duty, Montana. She’s a sultry brunette with dark eyes, golden skin, and big tits. Honestly, she’s usually my speed in women.
And yet as we’re chatting and she’s flirting, my gaze keeps straying to Bethany. What is it about her? She’s beautiful, but what else? Is it her aloofness? Maybe. I want to figure her out so I can understand why a brilliant woman, surely capable of making her own fortune, would help her father fleece people. The angry part of me wants to grasp how she managed not to get caught. Mostly, I fear the attraction is chemical and, regardless of what logic tells me, I want to nail her.
When Montana jaunts off with a wink. Ash pulls me aside. “Are you that rusty? Montana would totally do you, and you blew her off.”
I know, and the fact I’m not interested annoys me. “I’m not here for sex. Introduce me to ‘Beth’ and let’s get this farce going.”
As we approach, she sets a beer down in front of a guy who’s fortyish in a Hawaiian shirt—like a lot of the tourists here. He eyes her with excruciating intensity. She meets his gaze with an arched brow raised.
My gut tells me she’s not only not interested, but she’s silently rebuffing him.
Mug delivered, Bethany turns to leave. The man grips her wrist hard, his muscles flexing, veins popping, knuckles white. When she winces and tries to wriggle free, he clamps tighter and stands, jerking her toward him.
Fuck that. Even if Bethany Banks is guilty of a multitude of sins, she doesn’t deserve to be manhandled by this jerk against her will.
I barge my way between them, shoving her behind me. “Do we have a problem here, sir?”
Fury pinches his mouth. He narrows his eyes. “This has nothing to do with you. Butt out.”
“You don’t have permission to maul the staff. I’m going to have to ask you to keep your hands to yourself or leave.”
“Do you have your head so far up her twat that you don’t see she’s a fucking bitch?” The guy scoffs and rolls his eyes. “Yeah, and you deserve everything you get when she chews you up and spits you out.”
With that, the asshole tosses down some money and starts to walk away.
I’m furious. In part because he accused me of wanting her when I do. But mostly I’m pissed on Bethany’s behalf. “That was uncalled for. You’re not welcome back here unless you apologize to her.”
He grits his teeth, upper lip curling up with contempt as he turns to Bethany. “Fine. A thousand apologies.”
The douche doesn’t mean a word of that, and I want to pound his face. No, I’m not looking to become Bethany’s knight in shining armor. But this kind of guy always grates on my nerves because he thinks he can treat all women like trash, and the only thing that matters less than them are their feelings. I hate pricks like him.
Unfortunately, I can’t do anything else right now without ramping up the incident, instigating a fight…and probably getting fired. Instead, once he leaves, I turn to Bethany. I’m pissed all over again when I see she’s gone tense, as if she’s trying to hold herself together, and sporting a big red handprint around her small wrist.
“You okay?”
She nods. It’s shaky at first, then she drags in a steadying breath. “Yeah. He might be the first to think he can demand something more than a drink. But like Andy said, he won’t be the last. I’ll get used to it. Thanks for stepping in. I’m Beth.”
When she holds out her hand, I have to admit I’m impressed by her backbone. I’ve seen new waitresses shrink, cry, and ultimately quit when confronted with a customer that vile. Bethany simply picked herself up and now looks determined to carry on.
“You’re welcome. I’m Clint. It’s my first day.” I shake her hand.

This is US President Zack Hayes, and Press Secretary Elizabeth Matthews’ storyline. AT THE PLEASURE OF THE PRESIDENT should not be read as a stand alone as it focuses on the culmination of several story lines, numerous intersecting plot points, and the investigation into the death of Maddox Crawford, and attempted take down of the US President.

Liz’s hands shook as she turned the lock, shutting herself alone in the library with Zack. This was likely the single stupidest thing she’d ever done, but after years of pining for and being in love with him, she couldn’t walk away without knowing how a night with him would feel.
She should be in her bed right now, trying to find sleep. But she’d seen the light on and known he’d be here. Like a freaking moth to a flame, she’d found herself leaving the safety of her bedroom and walking right into the predator’s den.
Trembling, she turned now and looked at the only man she’d ever truly loved. He needed her tonight. She saw it in his stare, in the way he clenched his fists at his sides. How much character and willpower had it taken him to allow her this choice? She admired him even more for finding the strength, especially since she’d long suspected that under his façade of intellectualism and perfect manners, he hid a beast.

REVIEW: MISADVENTURES WITH MY EX is Shayla Black’s second contribution to the multi-author Misadventures series. This is café owner Eryn Hope, and twenty-four year old, businessman Weston Quaid’s story line. All of the Misadventures story lines are stand alone story lines. MISADVENTURES WITH MY EX continues to focus on the Hope sisters. We were first introduced to Eryn and her sisters in Ella’s book – Misadventures of a BackUp Bride.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Eryn and West) MISADVENTURES WITH MY EX follows the second chance relationship between café owner Eryn Hope, and twenty-four year old, businessman Weston Quaid. Three years earlier Weston Quaid destroyed Eryn Hope’s heart just hours before walking down the aisle. Fast forward to present day wherein Weston makes Eryn an offer she cannot refuse in light of the devastation and pain caused years before. Eryn’s business is about to be shut down for renovations and repairs, and with no source of income for herself or her employees, Weston offers Eryn a six week contract for which Eryn’s financial obligations will be covered and cared. What ensues is the rebuilding but acrimonious relationship between Eryn and West, and the potential fall-out as Eryn’s struggles with issues of trust are made more difficult by someone determined to destroy Eryn’s heart-once again.

Eryn Hope has never stopped loving Weston Quaid but the path of devastation left behind with his disappearance and no explanation years before finds our heroine battling between head and heart knowing Weston still has the power to crush her heart. Weston Quaid never knew loss like that of losing Eryn Hope but behind the scenes battle for company control, and threats against the woman he loved forced West to walk away with his own broken heart.

The relationship between Eryn and Weston is a rekindling romance; a second chance between two people destroyed by power, greed, threats and control. But herein lies the difficult or challenging part (for me) of the story line premise: West’s approach to getting Eryn back is all kinds of wrong including a legal contract that all but screams paid wh*re and mistress for as long as he wants. I am not a fan of ‘forced’ servitude or ‘forced’ $ex when a woman is desperate to keep food on the table or a roof above her head…and in this, the story line premise and contractual demands too closely reflects money and stability in exchange for service and $ex. The ‘contractual demands’ would be more in line with a dark romance. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and spicy, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The colorful secondary and supporting characters include Eryn’s sisters Ella and Echo, as well as Ella’s husband Carson Frost; Echo’s best friend Hayes Elliott; Weston’s mother Miriam Quaid, and his uncle Edward.

MISADVENTURES WITH MY EX is a story of family, forgiveness, secrets and lies. The premise is emotional and engaging; the romance is desperate and impassioned; the characters are energetic, determined and wounded. MISADVENTURES WITH MY EX is a strong, sensitive and intoxicating tale.
