Description:
A new town, new friends, new challenges…. And a new heart-stopping adventure from #1 New York Times bestselling author, Ilona Andrews. Kate, Curran, and Conlan may have left Atlanta for Wilmington, but the usual magic mayhem has also hitched a ride!

Kate and Curran have just settled into their new home and their ‘low prolife,’ when a local businessman approaches them with an offer they can’t refuse. A mysterious evil has spawned in the nearby forest and is holding a defenseless town hostage. The ‘due date’ is rapidly approaching.

It’s exactly the kind of fight the Lennarts can’t resist, not for the prize the town offers, but for the people who will surely die if they ignore it. If they succeed, they’ll be rescuing an entire community and can build a strong new base for their family and the Wilmington Pack. If they fail…well, fail is a four-letter word.

Nothing comes without a price. Now Kate must decide if she has what it takes to pay it.

Review:

Magic Claims by Ilona Andrews is the 2nd book (long novella) in her wonderful Kate Daniels: Wilmington Years series. I was once again thrilled and happy to learn that Magic Claims would continue to be about our favorite heroine, Kate Daniels, and look forward to more to come. Kate and Curran, and their son, Conlan are living in Wilmington, having left Atlanta to keep a low profile and privacy.  Conlan is now 8 years old, but he is big for his age, and becoming very strong, as he will be like his father. I have always loved Kate and Curran together, and in Magic Claims, they were fantastic.

Things have been quiet for Kate and Curran, living a peaceful life in Wilmington; then Conlan brings a local businessman to their home.  The businessman explains that he needs help in their town, with a dangerous evil holding their town as hostage.  Though Kate and Curran seem happy in their new environment, they also know that when danger comes, they need to be protectors to help those in need, which will bring them back into the violent and dangerous path they cannot resist.

Curran pulls together a new group to become part of his new pack, with Curran being the leader, and Kate ready to use her amazing powers.  They learn that the town has been forced to offer every year, a tribute, to be killed, and no one can escape from the town. Kate and Curran are determined to fight the evil in the forest, and protect the town.  I loved meeting all the new members of Curran & Kate’s team, as they were all so great.

What follows is a wild adventure, with many huge ice age animals that threaten all their lives; will the team be able to defeat the enemies? Kate is always up to the challenge, but she will need to pull out every possible bit of her powerful magic to fight this enemy; I loved seeing see how magnificent Kate was throughout. I will not tell too much more, as you need to read this from start to finish.

Magic Claims was a fantastic, exciting, intense story, with lots of action and magic.  I have continued to hope we would get more Kate and Curran, as well as see more of young Conlan; and my wishes have come true.  The new secondary characters on Curran’s team were great, which will hopefully lead to a new home base for the new Wilmington Pack . Magic Claims was so addicting, and I cannot wait for more.

Magic Claims was so very well written by Ilona Andrews.  I have read every single series by Andrews, and have absolutely loved them all. If you have not read this illustrious duo (Ilona and Gordon Andrews), you need to start reading them now.

Is there any way for me to make this right?

••••

REVIEW: UNWANTED MATE is the fourth novella in Jade Marshall’s contemporary, adult KATU WOLVES erotic, paranormal romance series. This is twenty year old she-wolf Sapphire, and wolf shifter Marc’s story line. UNWANTED MATE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Sapphire and Marc) UNWANTED MATE is a rebuilding relationship between twenty year old she-wolf Sapphire, and wolf shifter Marc. All of her life Sapphire has been bullied by Marc but five years ago, Sapphire and her brother Ezra’s lives were uprooted when their parents went in search of something else. Now, with the death of their mother and father, Ezra wants to return to the pack, a pack that hold nothing but bad memories for our story line heroine. With her return comes the knowledge that her fated mate is near, a mate who has harassed her for most of her life. Enter Marc. What ensues is the rebuilding friendship and relationship between Marc and Sapphire, and the potential fall-out as Sapphire must come to terms with Marc’s past, a past that continues to haunt our story line couple

The relationship between Marc and Sapphire is one of second chances; a rekindling friendship broken by Marc’s years of bullying our story line heroine. Marc and Sapphire know immediately that each is the other’s mate but Sapphire struggles with the hurtful words and broken heart so long ago. The lone $ex scene is passionate and intense.

We are reintroduced to several of the previous story line couples, she-wolf shifter Keelan, as well as Sapphire’s brother Ezra.

UNWANTED MATE is a quick read; a story of regret and forgiveness, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is engaging- the conflict resolution is hurried-I was hoping for a little more angst and delay but such is the nature of a novella length story ; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic and lost. UNWANTED MATE ends on a bit of a cliff-hanger-you have been warned.

True Wolf by Paige Tyler – a Review

True Wolf by Paige Tyler – a Review

Description:

KEEP YOUR TEAM CLOSE AND YOUR ENEMIES CLOSER…

Werewolf agent Caleb Lynch takes the lead on STAT’s newest case: to track down the thieves who stole nuclear weapons from the air force. His best lead points him to a brother-sister duo with a shady record, but Caleb sees something in the mysterious woman that could change his whole world.

Brielle Fontaine’s supernatural abilities are a force to be reckoned with, making her one of STAT’s biggest threats and a most useful ally. But Brielle is suspicious of anyone who might use her for their own gain, so she keeps most people at a distance—that is, until she meets werewolf Caleb Lynch.

When Brielle, Caleb, and the other STAT agents come under fire from supernatural terrorists seeking to start a war, the attraction between them could lead to something much more explosive…

Review:

True Wolf by Paige Tyler is the 3rd book in her wonderful STAT series. The STAT (Special Threat Assessment Team) team is assigned unsolvable cases, which includes supernatural beings & creatures.

Caleb Lynch, our hero in this book, is a member of that STAT team, and an Omega Werewolf; he at times loses control when threatened by the bad guys, as he is also a Berserker. When 7 nuclear weapons are stolen, the entire team comes together to track the thieves and recover the dangerous weapons.

Brielle Fontaine, our heroine, has a unique supernatural ability, she can touch someone and get their abilities for a short period of time.  Brielle is looking for her missing brother, when the STAT boss (McKay) offers her a deal for to join the team in helping find the nuclear weapons, allowing her to look for her brother, she agrees to work with the team.

Caleb is immediately attracted to Brielle, but at first, he doesn’t trust her. In a short time, the entire team begins to accept Brielle, as she worked so well with them, and became friendly.  The relationship between Caleb and Brielle heats up fast, as he suspects she is the ONE for him; the chemistry between them was awesome.

What follows is an action packed, non-stop, exciting and fun thriller, with me unable to put the book down.   There were so many dire situations that had the team in danger, with their lives hanging by a thread.   When the team thinks they have found the nuclear weapons, they are attacked by other supernatural beings, as well as creatures that kill with claws. With one of the weapons ready to explode and destroy everything in the tunnels and the entire town, it is Brielle who uses her ability to save Misty, and race to make it far enough to survive.  This was only the start, as they begin to learn who is behind the nuclear weapons and planning to destroy the world.  This was from start to finish and edge of your seat thriller every step of the way. What I loved about this series is that besides a new couple per book, the entire team always play recurring roles. It was great to see Jake, Jen, Misty, Forest, Harley, Sawyer and McKay.

True Wolf was an exciting, action packed non-stop dangerous adventure, with great secondary characters, and a great couple.  The villains were evil, violent and fully dangerous, with amazing supernatural abilities that were difficult for the team to fight against.  So many times, I held my breath to see who would survive.  Once again Paige Tyler gives us another fantastic story, which I cannot wait to see what she has in store of us next. I wholly suggest you read this series.

Each book in the Blood Wars series is STANDALONE:
* The Way You Bite
* Nightshade’s Bite

Review:

Nightshade’s Bite by Zoe Forward is the 2nd book in her Blood Wars series.  We meet our heroine, Kiera Rossard, as she is in disguise at a party with humans and vampires. What most people do not know, Keira, who is a vampire, is the leader of the Nightshade League, a society that helps rescues werewolves in an interspecies war.  She is called to help rescue a werewolf captured by the bad vampires, and when she and her team rescue the wolf, she is shocked at who it is.

Michael Durand, is one of the most powerful and feared werewolves, who is known to be an elite vampire killer. Michael hates vampires, and he is not too happy to be rescued by a vampire, not to mention a woman.  He has no control, even if the Nightshade team is trying to rescue him, and he lashes out at them, but a tranquilizer will force him to safety.

Both Keira and Michael find themselves strangely attracted to each other, something Michael cannot seem to handle, as he has had no feelings for many years; not to mention she is a vampire. Keira finds herself unable to resist Michael, but she knows the danger of acting on her lust for him, could kill her with just one bite of his blood. Michael is losing his mind on this desire for Keira, and at the same time wanting to kill her.  However, the leaders of the werewolf group, warns Michael he cannot harm Kiera, since she works with them and is close to them all.  He will go to some ancient leaders to find out how to handle his uncontrollable feelings.  When Keira decides to put herself in danger to save her sister, Michael is determined to protect her, as he knows she is falling into a trap.  Will Michael save her?  Will Kiera survive?

I really loved Kiera, as she made a great heroine, and was willing to put herself in danger to save the werewolves and her friends.  Michael was a bit off the wall, totally wild in his hatred, but in time, he will realize how much he needs her to bring him back to a normal sane life. I thought Zoe Forward created a great group of secondary characters from all sides.

What follows is an exciting, nonstop action throughout, that had me unable to put the book down.  The last half of the book was an intense wild exciting race to the climax.  Nightshade’s Bite was very well written by Zoe Forward, with an exciting story line, two warring species, great secondary characters, and a couple that were sizzling hot.  Nightshade’s Bite was another fun, exciting & captivating story. I look forward to the next book in this fantastic series.

Rhyker’s Key (Orion’s Order 2) by MC Solaris-a review

Rhyker’s Key (Orion’s Order 2) by MC Solaris-a review

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo / Google Play

Rhyker, tattooed bad boy and lethal jaguar shifter, falls for the sweet and caring healer, Keena. Except, she’s determined to keep him in the friend zone… good thing he’s a predator that enjoys the hunt.

Together, can they heal their past and forge a future bonded with true love?

Keena Oliver
I am haunted by my past mistakes. Mistakes that I have no idea how I even made. I am an educated mind and spirit healer after all. So how in the holy healer hell did I end up in a relationship where the male who I thought I loved…
Yeah, it’s probably best not to rehash those nightmares. But if I don’t dare open up that box to my past, then how am I ever going to be able to move on? Especially because I so want to move on with a certain sexy male. A male whose lips devoured mine in a darkened corner that one time. A male whose predatory piercing blue eyes practically track my every move. A male who I shouldn’t be fantasizing about every second of every day. Why? Because it would ruin me.

Rhyker Kingsley
I’ve had my eye on a certain female for almost a year now. A female who is damn determined to keep me in the friend zone. A female who’s been hurt by her ex but refuses to open up to me about it. So, you could say I go through a lot of smokes… a f*cking lot.

Meanwhile, my pack of lethally trained and skilled hunters and I are gunning for an evil SOB who not only signed his death warrant the second he tried to come after my pack sister and mate to our alpha, but also the f*cker poses a threat to our world as we know it. Yet, said ancient powerful bastard has gone off the grid and is all but impossible to track.

Oh, and did I mention that the past seems to be mixing with the present? I mean, the f*ck is this? The revenge year of the shitty exes?

So, excuse me while I light up a smoke… or two.

••••••••

REVEW: This book made me laugh, cry and scream!! I didn’t think MC Solaris could do any better than Calypso’s Heart. But she batted this book out of the park!!! This book is amazing! ? I’m just trying to put into words my love for this book, but I’ll have a go….

Book 2, and I won’t lie, I’ve been anxiously waiting for this book. Yes it’s really long, but in my opinion the story is so worth it.

Rhyker is a panther shifter, he comes from a well heeled family, he doesn’t need the money, or to get his hands dirty, but that’s not how he nor his twin brother sees the Order. It’s an honour to serve their world as hunters and there is nothing they wouldn’t do for their pack.Rhyker has to a favourite of mine in this pack (but my heart will always belong to Blake) the joker, the player, the first to back his pack mates in a fight, or a prank, loyal to a fault. The first book in this series had us meeting and falling in lust with him and who could blame you.
But this is his book and it will have you falling for this big kitty, a heart as big as the world, a wit that is rivalled only by his brother. And a sense of justice in an often cruel world.

Keena is a therapist, she heals the mind and spirit using therapy and yoga. She has a job which she loves, she helps others to heal from past traumas. I love how Keena works through her own issues using dance and yoga. She’s had her share of ups and downs, but meeting the Order brought a new friend (Caly) and a certain tall, dark and delicious feline into her world.

The chemistry between Keena and Rhyker is just off the wall, they start off as friends, but Rhyker wanted more, and so stalked his prey with laughs and banter. He moved them from the friend zone with minimum effort. But he never pushed, he knew she had a few problems with an ex, so was willing to wait, he knew deep down, Keena was going to be special. The banter these two made me chuckle and smile, and their chemistry scorched the pages.

The interaction with the rest of the group is just as important. We have the pack (males in the Order) and now the girls own pack.It was great to read how they could go from teasing and pulling pranks on one another to defending each other in a heartbeat.

A new case has the Order coming together to discuss it. (Blake usually confirms with the council and then fills the Order in) Nothing new there, that is until Rhyker finds out who the client is. An ex lover shouldn’t be a problem, but with Cecille it’s a big problem, she tore out his heart and made him look like a fool. And from there on, Rhyker the badass was born! Tattoos and an attitude, and a smoking habit that’s unusual for shifters (this reminded me of a BDB book, one of the characters smoked, but his became an addiction) Rhyker’s choice of smoke is a plant based non addictive one, with a slight relaxing quality to it) But the woman wants help solving a murder case and the Order are just the team to solve it. But I got the feeling she was also interested in rekindling the spark with Rhyker. But that’s not going to happen, he’s totally over that female, to him, it’s just going to be a job…..

Keena is being followed/stalked could be the ex (Liam) not a nice guy at all!! A controlling male who thought nothing of belittling Keena and then the violence! She ended it, but I don’t think we’ve seen the last of him!But it’s not him, it’s something much worse!! And Riordan does his best to see her future (Riordan is a Seer, but you’d know that If you’d read book one) ?

Loved how we get snippets of the possible books in the future (it’s fun trying to guess who will end up with who, even when the author likes to throw in a few red herrings. ?

But the Mastermind hasn’t finished with the Order, and now we see Keena in his sights! But with Rhyker by her side you would think it’s going to be fine, but it’s not fine! In fact it’s anything but ok! Could they be torn apart?

We have a few secrets to uncover in further books, looks like most of the characters have a deep dark secret that needs uncovering. We still have the Mastermind to hunt down (he was the one who wants Caly and with his little minion Barker they had her briefly before the Order rescue her) we get glimpses of him before he retreats to fight another day.

The book is told in the characters points of view. (And I did like the glimpses into the minds of the unmated males, I think they want what their boss has) We have a sneaky peek into book 3 (and it sounds like another great read)This book was more of a murder/mystery story, but with a heavy dose of romance. We also have a few twists in this book a few new faces were added (some were more welcome than others!)

Reading the book, I could clearly see the scenes playing (hint, this would make for an awesome film or tv series X-rated of course)?

It’s a whopping read 740 pages and for some it’s probably a little long winded! But I never worried about the length, once I cracked open the book, I fell in like Alice in wonderland and the world just fell away…..It flows well, it picks up speed, it’s full of laughter and can make closing the book for two mins (toilet breaks and life!) difficult but it had me racing back to finish the next page!

And the ending!!!! Oh my goodness!!! Next book please……

Season of the Wolf by Maria Vale-a review

Season of the Wolf (The Legend of All Wolves #4) by Maria Vale

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo / Google Play

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 25, 2020

In a world of danger and uncertainty, the Alpha has enough to worry about without him…

For Alpha Evie Kitwanasdottir, things are never easy. The Great North Pack has just survived a deadly attack. Evie is determined to do whatever is necessary to keep her Pack safe, especially from the four Shifters who are their prisoners.

Constantine lost his parents and his humanity on the same devastating day. He has been a thoughtless killer ever since. When Constantine is moved to live under Evie’s watchful eye, he discovers that taking directions and having a purpose are not the same thing.

Each moment spent together brings new revelations to Constantine, who begins to understand the loneliness of being Alpha. He finds strength and direction in helping Evie, but there is no room for a small love in the Pack, so Constantine must work harder than ever to prove to Evie he is capable of a love big enough for the Great North Pack itself.

•••••••

REVIEW: Constantine knows how hard life is. A killer for the pack, he’s not sure if he fits the pack now, his deceased leader had different views, but the more time he spends with Evie, the more he knows this is home.

And when Evie finally comes round, he needs to prove to her that he loves the pack, and not just her. She not an easy wolf to know, but he keeps at it, he feels her pain and he feels like he’s the wolf for the job.

Evie is alpha, it’s a cold and lonely position. After losing her mate in the previous book (see you do have to read in order)she needs to carry on for the pack. It’s hard, but it’s her duty, so basically suck it up and get on with it.

Her ideas are simple, keep the pack safe at all times.

I’ve read the previous 3 books, and the series just keeps getting better.

The characters although not as good as the previous books hold onto your heart and make you believe in their story. It was great to catch up with older characters from previous books.

This series really is different from most shifter books. These are wolves that can change into humans, it’s not their preferred form, they love being wolves, it’s what they are.

And the wolf pack is EVERYTHING, above family and even mates. The pack provides protection, security and unconditional loyalty.

The world is harsh and unforgiving, the scenes can upset you, but that’s the sign of a good book.

I couldn’t put it down.

Constantine was in the last book like Evie and I liked him immensely and I’m glad it’s his turn for a story.

We meet up with previous characters from the last three books.

I feel you definitely need to read in order, there is a story that if you skip books you’ll miss out on information.

They are difficult to read, but please persevere. They are well worth the effort. This book although not action packed, I don’t think it was necessary (that was in the last book) we focused on how the pack was reforming and licking their wounds from the last battle, (maybe the next book will have more action?)

I’m not sure if I can stand another book in this series, it tugs at the heart string too much, but it’s a book that once your in, you are trapped till the end.

Another great read, and one I’m glad to have read. Highly recommend this book.

Review:

Wild Wolf Mate by Dianna Love is the 5th book in her wonderful League of Gallize Shifters series.  I have said this previously, I am a big fan of Dianna Love, and I look forward to reading all of her books, as she always gives us great exciting, fun stories, with fantastic characters.   Background: The Gallize shifters are run by an ancient and powerful shifter, and they are the good guys, who secretly protect humans from the bad shifter groups.

Adrian, our hero, whom we met previously, is a Gallize Wolf Shifter, and he continues to have problems with his wolf, which happened on a rescue mission when they were locked in a cage.  The Guardian has sent Adrian on a mission, hoping he would find a way to reconcile with his wolf “Red” (nickname is Mad Red), who is deranged since that mission). Because of this, Adrian lives a tortured existence constantly fighting his angry wolf.

Jazlyn, our heroine, is a healer who helped save Adrian’s life in the previous book, but she is on the run from shifters, as she killed one shifter, but she did so in self defense and has to find a way to prove it. Jazlyn is also trying to find and save some female shifters that were kidnapped. Adrian will come to her rescue, as he knows she is his mate; but can help her prove her innocence?

It is Jazlyn, who tries to heal the bond between Adrian and Red, but she knows it is a slow process.  The two very quickly succumb to their feelings for each other, which complicates things for both; The Guardian wants Adrian to find her, and Jazlyn is determined to save her friends.  I really loved Jazlyn and Adrian together, not to mention their wolves also feel that the pull of being mates.

What follows is an exciting action-packed story, with Jazlyn getting caught and Adrian having to come to her rescue. The last half of the book was great, especially as we raced to the climatic ending.  I was on the edge of my seat during the tense non-stop action-packed last half of the book.  I do not want to ruin it for you by giving any spoilers, but this was an edge of your seat suspense that had us holding our breaths to find out if they would survive, and if Red would help Adrian.

Dianna Love once again gives us another wonderful story, and a series that continues to amaze us with each book, which are always fun, exciting, action packed adventures; and with a great sexy couple.

As I always come to expect with Dianna Love, Wild Wolf Mate was a tense, sexy, exciting adventure; with a great couple and wonderful secondary characters.  If you are not reading Dianna Love, you need to start, as she always creates exciting fun stories.   I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

THE BEAR’S FOREVER MATE (Borealis Bears #3) by Vivian Arend-a review

THE BEAR’S FOREVER MATE (Borealis Bears #3) by Vivian Arend

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo / Google Play

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 18, 2020

He’s got the perfect mate in mind, for five years from now…

The final title in a light-hearted shifter trilogy by New York Times bestselling author Vivian Arend.

Cooper Borealis is fully onboard with the concept of fated mates. Except mating the woman he wants—his tempting, complicated, human secretary—is not an option. Or not yet anyway. Still, he’ll keep the vow he made to his brothers, with a few loophole caveats, mating fever be damned. He’ll be with Amber Myawayan at the place and time of his choosing.

Amber has spent the past two years in the north looking for her missing brother—and falling in love with the big, growly polar bear at the helm of Borealis Gems. More than once, she’s caught him looking at her with hungry shifter eyes. But getting him to admit it? Ha! Luckily, mating fever is a thing, and she’s happy to cooperate as nature forces the issue to the forefront.

But when their mating bond is unexpectedly blocked, Amber and Cooper find themselves in a race against time. She needs to track down her brother while somehow proving she’s tough enough to be with her favourite bear. Cooper plans to protect her at all costs, even if it means secretly stifling his stubborn shifter side.

Somewhere in the wilderness they’ll find the answer…or lose their chance at forever.

•••••••••

REVIEW: THE BEAR’S FOREVER MATE is the third instalment in Vivian Arend’s contemporary, adult BOREALIS BEARS erotic, paranormal romance series focusing on Borealis polar bear shifter brothers. This is eldest brother Cooper Borealis, and Amber Myawayan’s story line. THE BEAR’S FOREVER MATE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

SOME BACKGROUND: Patriarch Giles Borealis is hoping to hand over the reigns of Borealis Gems to his three grandsons but in an effort to help things along, Giles blackmails his heirs into finding mates, or lose control of Borealis Gems. James, Cooper and Alex have no intention of tying themselves down with one woman but the mating fever is about to take control.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Cooper and Amber) THE BEAR’S FOREVER MATE follows Cooper Borealis as he struggles with the approach of the mating fever. Believing Amber Myawayan is his fated mate Cooper wants to wait a few more years before tying himself down to one woman forever but Amber wants nothing to do with waiting for Cooper to make up his mind, and sets about to seduce the man with whom she is in love. The problem, Amber is human, and Cooper’s ‘bear’ struggles with Amber’s intentions, as she continues to search for her missing brother. What ensues is the friends to lover relationship between Amber and Cooper, as the bears and their mates go in search of Amber’s brother, and the potential fall-out as Cooper’s bear stalls in his attempts to make Amber their mate.

The relationship between Cooper and Amber has been building for a long time but Cooper has a five year plan before he settles down with his fated mate. Hiding away in a cabin the woods, Cooper is surprised when the woman in question arrives with plans of her own. The $ex scenes are passionate and seductive without the use of over the top sexually graphic, language and text.
