Review:

Traitor Games by Sidney Bristol is the 3rd book in her Tarnished Heroes series. I read book two in this series. You don’t need to read any of the previous books. But as there are references to previous book characters, it does help to have a little background. Book one was Rand and Sarah, book two (the one I read) was Andy and Carol (assassin games)

Noah is good at his job. But lately he’s grown weary of it all. And finding out there is an agency hiding undercover in the CIA was a blow, and a little worrying. And now he has a new target (a clean up job) he’s worried that it’s going to get messy ……

And if he doesn’t kill her, someone else will. At least he wouldn’t make her suffer, it would be quick and clean. But he can’t do it, so to find out who wants her dead, he’s going to have to step in and protect her.

Lillian is being stalked, she’s known it for a while, but why? What could they possibly gain from her death? And she knows it will be her death. And when her would be protector makes himself known, Lillian is confused, and extremely wary. He says he’s there to kill her, but he doesn’t want to, so what does he want?

Together Lillian and Noah don’t have much time to figure out who is trying to kill her and why. Each thought the other wasn’t interested in a romantic way, and with miscommunication and jumping to the wrong conclusions about each other, they don’t seem to be on the same page. But both are aware of the attraction growing between them.

So who is trying to kill Lillian? And can she really trust Noah? He could be playing a bluff, and when her guard is down, that’s when he will strike and kill her.

The book is very fast paced and full of action. The characters work well together, and we get to see previous characters come together to help Noah and Lillian. There are also other forces working to silence Lillian forever. So who do you trust ?

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 23, 2018

Anderson Gratney does odd jobs that usually involve a gun and covert ops for the CIA. His latest assignment? Kidnap a CIA analyst in order to keep her safe. Easy. Except there’s nothing simple about the beautiful, careful Carol Sark, who tempts him the more he learns about her.

Coming face to face with a masked man in her home is the most terrifying experience of Carol’s life—until he kidnaps her. He claims he’s there to keep her safe, but she doesn’t know who to trust. And until they can figure out who the threat is, she’s forced to take him at his word.

Time is ticking, and even though she drives him nuts, Anderson very much wants to keep her alive. Unfortunately, the assassins have other ideas

REVIEW: Andy is a decent guy, a bit rough around the edges but he’s good at what he does. A loner, but knows right from wrong.
Andy works at the moment for the CIA (a contract worker) he is watching Carol an analyst working on a code to pull out information on a string of deaths.

Carol’s character, when the when it got tough, she wasn’t a pushover, she was clever and definitely an asset.

The agency know they have a mole, they just don’t know who and how it’s connected. Her analysis can help tie things together.
And when the assassins figure out that Carol is getting to close, Andy is the one sent in to get close to Carol. And if she needs to disappear, then he’s there to help her.

Being kidnapped isn’t high on Carol’s list of things to do. And when the kidnapper explains that he’s here to help keep her safe, Carol isn’t sure who to trust.

The plot was interesting, a few twists and turns kept me reading until I was done.
The characters are well written, and the scenes followed each other really well.

I haven’t read any other the other books in the series, but I think I’ll have to go back and take a look ?

“I have the strangest urge to kiss you,” she said without embarrassment tightening her throat. Must still be a little tipsy.

“Don’t.” Andy’s voice was sharp, his reply immediate.

“Why not?”

“It wouldn’t be a good idea.”

“What constitutes a good idea?”

“Anything that doesn’t put you at risk or would result in some form of positive gain.”

“But you aren’t a risk to me, are you?”

“Carol, you should go back to bed. It’s late.”

“You don’t want to answer the question. You have that moral code, and I don’t fit in those boxes. That’s your problem with me. You kill people and gather information. I’m a round peg when you deal with square holes. Why is kissing you a bad idea? If it’s not good, then it’s bad. What’s so wrong with kissing? If we’re analyzing good and bad—”

“Stop, Carol. I’m warning you.”

And yet, he didn’t move, he didn’t flee; he remained right where he was.

“If we’re classifying good as no harm and leads to gain, well, it seems like it would be more good than bad. Fostering physical familiarity, building that trust. You know, you could have probably continued to pretend to be Mark, whisk me away somewhere and keep playing that role which would both endear me to you emotionally and create greater trust, but you didn’t. You destroyed the persona of Mark—why? Because it wasn’t a truth, because he was a lie, because it was a danger to you?”

“We’re all on the same side. I wasn’t going to lie to you. Just—stop it.”

“Even if lying means everyone gets what they want? You get the program, I get the fantasy, everyone gets something?”

What had he said before? He liked talking to her. He hadn’t expected to have to play the part of Mark that long.

Part of Andy was Mark.

Was it all a lie? Or was this the wine still talking?

“You keep saying stop it, but you don’t move, you don’t act. Are you telling me to stop it, or yourself? Is the big truth here that it wasn’t all a lie, but you want it to be? Is that what’s going on here? Is that why you’re doing all of this? Look at me and tell me to stop talking, stop asking questions. Do it.”

She was playing with fire. Just because she didn’t fit Andy’s system, because he thought of her as a good person, it didn’t mean she was safe. She was facing a new reality outside the CIA and country she’d grown up in. And that meant she had to be different. She had to face her problems head on, and she was starting with Andy.

He turned his head so that he faced her. His nose had been broken a time or two and little scars marred his face here and there. Dark eyes stared at her, so hard and dark he might not even be Andy right now.

Was she right? Was Mark in there?

REVIEW

4 out of 5 for this reader folks!

OH LA LA so much action happening I’m not sure where I should start on this review.  Very intriguing, and I totally loved that I had no inkling and was totally shocked when the climax is revealed.  It’s refreshing because I am usually pretty good at figuring that out.  LOVED THAT!

Spy Games by Sidney Bristol is a contemporary romantic suspense that takes us across Asia on action packed missions, intense moments and hot romance.  It is a stand alone that will have you on the edge of your seat and constantly wondering .. “Who, What, Where and Why!”

Rand Duncan is our leading guy and he is a whole lot of complicated.  He was a SEAL, but now works as a “Top Secret” operative for the CIA in extremely dangerous mission.  He is strong, straight to the point, eager to right his perceived wrongs, and fleeing a history that still continues to haunt him.

Sarah Collins is the sister of Rand’s best friend and a woman who has always owned Rand’s heart.  She is head strong and smart, lives to make the world a better place, and utterly heart broken with Rand being out of her life due to an accident that occurred with regards to her brother.  She is now taking on missions as a “Courier Girl” which both affords important information to be delivered in the right hands, and hopefully allows her to cross paths with the man she can never forget.

When information gets intercepted and is now in the wrong hands, Sarah and Rand do cross paths, and must work together to retrieve this information before it gets many people killed.  This is more than a chance to do good for their country but to mend their hearts and come to terms with their past.  Soon enough they are engaged in some dangerous situations and facing their issues while giving in to a desire still so large.

Ok so this is a great book.  I hadn’t read a romantic suspense in a while and now I want to gorge on them.  I really loved these two together, and I loved the twists and turns.  So much heart mending here it was heart warming.  Sidney writes beautiful imagery and her hot scenes are well .. HOT!  LOL  I did find that there were times I found the pacing a little off and there were times I would of liked a little more build before it peaks.  This involves more of the sex scenes though.  I also wish there was more of a back story on Sarah’s brother and his love.  It is mentioned several times and it actually left me with the impression that there may have been another book but I cannot seem to confirm that.  These small critiques didn’t take anything away from my enjoying this book though, it’s just what I prefer to have.

Overall, an absolute heart pounding read that left me feeling quite content at the end.  I am eager to read more by Sidney Bristol and if you take a look she has many out there to take a look at!  Looking forward to your next one Sidney!

HAPPY READING! 🙂

Guest Post at The Reading Cafe
Bound With Pearls
by Sidney Bristol

Guest post-White and Red

Thanks so much to The Reading Café for having me today! I’m celebrating the print release of my first Taboo line book, Bound with Pearls. It’s crazy to think that this book is out in all formats now. I wrote this title well over a year ago and it’s gone through many rounds of revisions and a lot of tough love to reach this point. It’s very cool from the author side of things to see a book come to life, the way it grows and changes into something I didn’t even know it would be when I started with a blank page. Now all I can do is hope people like it!

This might be a strange thing to say, but the writing of Bound with Pearls pushed some of my limits as an author. I think is a good thing for me, and for my readers. While I was comfortable writing erotic romance and I was comfortable with the practice of BDSM and the knowledge behind it, writing the two together was something I’d never done before. It was exciting, uncharted territory, and really pushed me to grow and step back and think about preferences, limits and activities from another point of view.

sharkWe all have limits of things we’d never do, stuff we could be convinced to do and things no one can hold us back from doing. For example, I’d go shark diving either with a snorkel or in a cage in a second, but you couldn’t pay me to go cliff jumping. Up until December, I thought I’d never willingly get a pedicure, but now I get them regularly. I don’t really like them, I’m way too ticklish, but the pretty toenails have seduced me into it. So long as they don’t scrub my legs with that sea salt stuff our punch my calves. I was not a fan of that.

The point is that there are definitive limits in our lives, for whatever reason, they exist. It’s not wrong or bad. It’s natural and acceptable to not want to do some things. Like, say, jump off a cliff into a river full of gators. Not a good idea. But people still do it.

But still yet, there are limits that exist to be pushed. It’s part of growing as people and making a personal choice to change. I’m a super picky eater, for example. There are loads of things I just do not want to eat, but I regularly try to eat things out of my comfort zone because I know it’s a good idea and also to prove myself wrong. I used to not eat fish, now, I love a good Tilapia filet. This last weekend I tried an avocado. I was not a fan, but I tried it.
In BDSM there are generally two kinds of limits. Soft limits. And hard limits. I say general because there is no hard set rulebook to BDSM, so take what I’m saying with a cup of salt. There’s room for all views under this umbrella.

Girl with ChainsSoft limits are things that are a, “No,” but for a lot of individuals, with the right person, they could reconsider that. For example, a person can have a soft limit of no gags. Gags prevent a person from speaking and saying a safe word or ending play unless another, non-verbal signal is agreed upon beforehand. This individual could refuse to engage in play that included gags until they reached a certain familiarity with a new partner. Or, they could use gags with one partner but not another.

Hard limits, however, are the things that we would never consider doing. Ever. For anyone. No matter how hot they are, how much you love them or if there’s a water balloon about to fall on you when you’re wearing white. I’m sure we can all think of some very extreme things we would never allow another person to do. Some of the most common hard limits are things that do with human excrement, blood, restricting breathing or cutting the skin. However, there can be other, not so “scary” hard limits. I hate, hate, hate being tickled, for example. Someone else might refuse to do anything that involved a whip because of their personal take on that item. There’s no right or wrong answer for why something is a hard limit, it just is.

I knew that I wanted to explore a few limits in this book. The characters have vastly different comfort levels when it comes to some activities, so it was natural for them to challenge each other. I won’t give away too much, but it was a lot of fun to explore and research character specific activities to weave into the book. How one character’s strengths encourage the other to rise to the occasion, and vice versa.

I think as human beings we naturally push one another into bettering and furthering ourselves, either from encouraging or simple competition. I’m naturally very competitive so I like to surround myself with people who can do things better than me and learn from them.

Can you think of something you, a friend or family member talked you into doing that you never thought you’d do?

REVIEW

5 out of 5 for this reader folks!

What a HOT, SMEXY SMEXY, WILD read! (*Fanning Myself*)

So before I begin this review I have a secret to reveal! I LOVE me a hot smut filled book. However if you add great characters and a great story then I LOVE LOVE LOVE me a hot smut filled book. This was a LOVE LOVE LOVE! LOL

Bound with Pearls written by Sidney Bristol is all about the formation of a dom/sub relationship and the many (did I mention MANY) emotions that are explored during this formation.

This book is not for the easily offended. There are extreme sexual scenarios that are played out and extreme language used. This is a dirty, gritty and sexy book that exploits many common and not so common (pass the ginger …lol) sides of the dom/sub relationship.

Now that I have armed you a little .. let me “de-arm” you! This story for a BDSM book was FUN and much less intense than many books in the BDSM genre that I have read! While some scenes were intense, there was so much blooming within the forming relationship that it didn’t feel “heavy”! Don’t get me wrong, all emotions were felt but I never went to a dark ugly place. Not sure if that makes sense but it’s the best way I can explain it! LOL

So our submissive’s name is Christine. Christine is an unattached submissive that had adopted the lifestyle many years ago and was well trained by a previous dom. After being begged by her horrible, spoiled brat bitchy sister Lucy, to please fill in as a sub (bitchy sister’s dom lost a poker game and bet the use of his sub to another dom … DUDE REALLY???) on her behalf, Christine agrees to spend one night with the winning poker game dom named Daniel.

Seeing as neither Christine nor Daniel know each other (either by rep or by looks) this makes for a very uncomfortable situation and both are NOT looking forward to this “play session”! Well aren’t they pleasantly surprised when they are clearly not only attracted to each other but they also “fit” together. I had to chuckle when Christine suddenly wanted to take back many of her “limits” and go all the way. I also melted a little when Daniel said NO and refused to take advantage because the .. er… um …. did it just got really hot in here!? LOL

From this one night, these two decide to see each other again and again, and trust builds between them (that’s pretty great considering a dom/sun relationship REQUIRES that)! Tenderness like you can never imagine, and serious boundaries are crossed! Limits are pushed. I found while I was getting angry I was completely smitten as well.

Loved this blurb and it paints the perfect picture.

“Any man could get her off, but she needed him. Their connection, the chemistry wasn’t something easily found.”

This is a shorter book and I hate giving anything away, so I will leave this review at that! I really truly loved this book and I was fulfilled in all aspects that I have learned to expect and appreciate when reading a BDSM story. I believed in this relationship and I was cheering them on throughout their journey to each other!

I have to comment quickly on this books cover! IT’S BEAUTIFUL! You understand why the title was named what it was, and the model is exactly how I pictured Christine. This is BDSM in it’s sexiest! 🙂

As I do for many of my reviews, let me leave you with a yummy blurb of a breakfast tied up…. that made me …er… um…. yup it’s definitely hot in here .. WINK!

“You aren’t in trouble.”

She hurriedly chewed and swallowed. “I’m not?”

He chuckled. “Nope.” One side of his mouth kicked up in a lopsided smile, giving him a boyish look.

“Then, why …” Her voice trailed off as he pressed another bite of pancake to her lips.

“Why did I tie you up?” he filled in for her. “Because I like you tied down and at my mercy.”

Yes Sir Daniel .. SIGH! LOL
