ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 7, 2022.

Sometimes friendship is just another word for love.

Violet MacAllister is no stranger to rejection. Growing up with dyslexia, she was bullied mercilessly, making her feel as though she would never be good enough. And she believed it—until she found art and a new way of expressing herself. But her wounds run deep, and even though she’s been pining over her best friend Hudson for years, he has no idea, and she intends to keep it that way. He’s everything she could ever want—sensitive, artistic, hard-working, smart, and so, so hot—but she knows they’ll only ever be friends.

Hudson Prescott has been through a lot. He lost his father as a child, his fiancée jilted him, and six months ago, he was in a terrifying motorcycle accident that could’ve cost him his life. The one bright spot through the dark times has been his friend and co-worker Violet, who’s talented, driven to help others, and a total sweetheart. She’s his closest friend, and he’d be lost without her.

But one emotional night, everything changes, and suddenly Hudson’s seeing Violet in a different light. One that has him questioning how he could’ve been so blind to what was in front of him this entire time: Violet, with her curls, and tattoos, and her laugh that feels like sunshine. So when Violet has a proposition for him—one that involves her painting a nude portrait of him—he agrees. Because now that his eyes are open, he’ll do anything to make her see she’s the one for him.

Including bare it all.

REVIEW: SKIN DEEP is the eighth instalment in Tara Wyatt’s contemporary, adult THE PRESCOTTS erotic, romance series. This is tattoo artists thirty-three year old Hudson Prescott, and twenty-eight year old Violet MacAllister’s story line. SKIN DEEP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Violet and Hudson) SKIN DEEP follows the building romance and relationship between tattoo artists thirty-three year old Hudson Prescott, and twenty-eight year old Violet MacAllister. Violet MacAllister is first and foremost an artist who volunteers at a program for children with learning disabilities, something close to her heart. Working with Hudson Prescott at Brooklyn Skin Work forces Violet to tamp down her attraction to her best friend, a friendship that may be threatened if they should cross a line but in the wake of Hudson’s motorcycle accident, the shop is struggling to survive, and Violet must make a choice between the present and the future. With an offer Violet cannot refuse comes a caveat involving the man that she loves, a caveat that place Violet and Hudson up close and personal. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Violet and Hudson, and the potential fall-out as Hudson struggles to move from the past, and Violet doesn’t want a possible sexual relationship to destroy their tight-knit friendship.

Hudson Prescott continues to struggle with the loss of his father, and his mother’s insistence that he finally settle down. Losing his tattoo shop isn’t an option, and Hudson must come to terms with what and who he wants going forward. Violet has always wanted to open a center for children with disabilities, focusing on art therapy as a way to survive but losing Hudson would destroy her heart, and our heroine must come to a decision about her future, going forward.

The relationship between Hudson and Violet is one of immediate attraction, an employee and employer, a friends to lovers relationship in which Violet battles between head and heart believing she is not worthy, or good enough for our story line hero. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar secondary and supporting characters including all of Hudson’s siblings and cousins, as well as Violet’s parents, and Hudson’s ex fiancée Jessica.

SKIN DEEP is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love; of loss and grief, memories and dreams, acceptance and love all wrapped in a ‘Gift of the Magi’ themed generosity and benevolence. The premise is emotional and heart warming; the romance is provocative and intense; the characters are captivating and charismatic
