Description:
She knows what’s best for everyone but herself…

With a past like hers, Jessica Clayton feels safer in a life spent on the road. She’s made a career out of helping others downsize–because she’s learned the hard way that the less “stuff,” the better, a policy she applies equally to her relationships. But a new client is taking Jess back to Cape Sanctuary, a town she once called home…and that her little sister, Rachel, still does. The years apart haven’t made a dent in the guilt Jess still carries after a handgun took the lives of both their parents and changed everything between them.

While Jess couldn’t wait to put the miles between her and Cape Sanctuary, Rachel put down roots, content for the world–and her sister–to think she has a picture-perfect life. But with the demands of her youngest child’s disability, Rachel’s marriage has begun to fray at the seams. She needs her sister now more than ever, yet she’s learned from painful experience that Jessica doesn’t do family, and she shouldn’t count on her now.

Against her judgment, Jess finds herself becoming attached–to her sister and her family, even to her client’s interfering son, Nate–and it’s time to put everything on the line. Does she continue running from her painful past, or stay put and make room for the love and joy that come along with it?

Review:

The Path to Sunshine Cove by RaeAnne Thayne is the 2nd book in her Cape Sanctuary series.  Jessica Clayton, our heroine, is on her way to do a job in Cape Sanctuary, and also looking forward to see her sister and her children.  Jess partners with another woman, who run a successful business, Transitions, which helps people declutter/downsize their homes. Jess’s new client is Eleanor Whitaker, who lost her husband about 6 months ago, and hired Jess to help her clean up everything in her house.

We learn a bit more about Jess and her younger sister, Rachel, as they lost both parents by gunshots.  They became separated, as Rachel was sent to live with a wonderful family, and Jess was sent to a foster care home; when she was old enough to get Rachel to live with her, she is upset that her sister wanted to stay with the family she had.  Jess then joined the Military, and now with her friend, together they built this business as partners.  Over the years, she sees Rachel very little, as she is married with children, and looks forward to see them all again.

Jess parks her trailer by Eleanor’s place, and gets off on the wrong foot, when she is approached by an arrogant man.  Turns out he is Eleanor’s son, Nate, and he was not happy about her parking where she was, and more so since he did not know his mother hired someone.  In a short time, Nate will apologize and find himself attracted to Jess, who plans to be in town only for two weeks.   Jess also finds Nate to be hot, but is determined to not get involved, since all she cares about is her work and no relationships.

Jess begins to see that Rachel seems to be falling apart, which is putting a strain on her marriage.  Rachel’s young son has autism, and Jess pushes her and her husband to take him to be tested, and she would watch over the two nieces.  This also gives Jess a chance to spend some fun time with them, as well as with Nate and his daughter, Sophie.  We could tell that Nate has fallen hard for Jess, and even Sophie loves her.  Will Jess allow herself to open her heart and let love in?

I loved the time Jess spent with Eleanor to help her declutter all the old stuff in her home, as well as her deceased husband’s belongings; which turns out to be an amazing business concept. I got a kick out of the Airstream Trailer that everyone loved.  Over time, it was wonderful to see the sisters relationship change into an inseparable bond, which was very emotional.  Will Jess continue to run from a permanent relationship or will she stay?

The Path to Sunshine Cove was a heartwarming, poignant story that was very well written by RaeAnne Thayne.  Cape Sanctuary was a beautiful setting for this story, and makes me want to go there.  I really enjoyed this story, and suggest you read The Path to Sunshine Cove. If you have not read RaeAnne Thayne, you need to start.

Wishing for a Cowboy by Victoria James – a Review

Description:
Janie Adams has been a single parent to her nephew since he was a baby. Fifteen years later, she’s finally found out who his father might be, so the two of them travel across the country to find him. She’d do anything for this kid. But when they arrive in the small town of Wishing River, Montana, and Janie finally meets the ruggedly handsome cowboy she’d been told had abandoned his son, his shocked response changes everything.

Aiden Rivers can’t dispute this is his kid when he sees his own features staring back at him, but he had no idea Janie’s sister was pregnant when she left him. He didn’t even know she had a sister—clearly they’d all been lied to. Now he has fifteen years of fatherhood to make up for and no idea how to be a dad. This was never in his plans.

Janie sticks around to help him ease into parenting, everything from showing him how to lure a sulky kid out of his bedroom to keeping up with the latest teen-speak. Together, they surprisingly make a good team, this city girl and country boy. But when the past catches up with them, Aiden and Janie must decide what’s best for the boy who’s connecting them, not only for each other…which could mean splitting them apart.

Each book in the Wishing River series is STANDALONE:
* The Trouble with Cowboys
* Cowboy for Hire
* Wishing For A Cowboy

Review:

I really enjoyed Wishing for a Cowboy by Victoria James.  I found it to be a fast read but with a very good pace.  It was a sweet, charming and emotionally charged story between Aiden, Janie and Will.  Ms. James did a wonderful job with this story. The characters were very well written and just seemed to compliment each other. The secondary characters were used in just the right way with scenes that helped propel Aiden and Janie’s romance along, as well as the parenting storyline.

The emotion that flows off the pages between Aiden and Will in learning they are father and son, trying to cope and deal with this new reality is very real and heartfelt. The same goes for Aiden and Janie’s romance.  The emotion and chemistry between the two characters is noticeable from the very beginning and just continues to grow throughout the their story.  One of the things I really liked is the fact that Ms. James never rushes or pushes Janie and Aiden together, it just happens and we get to see both sides of their stories, how both got to be where they are, and all the sacrifices they’ve made along the way to get to this point.  Neither Janie nor Aiden had an easy life, and it isn’t until they meet, spend all this time together with Janie helping Aiden and Will become father and son that they realize they are better because of the other one in their life now.  Both Janie and Aiden realize their life is complete when they are together and with Will.  They make an adorable family and the scenes with just the three of them are wonderful to read and just add that little extra to the story.

As much as this was a very emotional and heartfelt read, Ms. James does write some well timed light hearted and easy going moments to compliment everything else going on in the story.  Including some well timed drama and intrigue when Janie’s sister, who is Will’s MIA “mom” shows up to disturb the peace in all their lives. What a train-wreck she is, and I was glad to see her drama induced part of their story was short lived, and Janie and Aiden with the help of Will were able to overcome Maxi’s hurtful intentions and find their HEA.

As I said at the beginning of my review, I really enjoyed this one.  However, I didn’t realize this was the third story in her Wishing River series. I have a feeling I will be on the lookout for the previous two and any future books in this series.  If you’re looking for a quick read with a handsome cowboy, an emotional, yet charming romance then this one’s for you.

Until next time, happy trails to you.… oops, I meant happy reading everyone!!  😉

Through secrets, lies, family betrayal, and difficult choices, Hunt’s not sure he and Ava can ever make a home together in Blessings. Or if life will once again lead them onto different paths…?

Review:

Somebody to Love by Sharon Sala is the 11th book in her wonderful Blessings, Georgia series. As I have said in previous reviews of this series, I always enjoy coming back to Blessings, Georgia and the fabulous townsfolk we get to spend time with. Once again, Sharon Sala gives us another wonderful feel-good romance and a great couple

Hunt Knox, our hero, returns home 15 years after he left Blessings and his family. Hunt had planned to go to college, working part time jobs to save $8000, which was stolen from him, with his father/siblings not revealing who stole the money.  He joined the army and currently works as a chopper pilot for an oil company in Houston.  When he receives a request from his dying mom to return home, he accepts her deathbed wish for him to fix up the old house, after which he can take $8000 up front, and he and the rest of the siblings can split the rest of the profits. Hunt tries not to deal with his 4 siblings (except the youngest, Birdie, who was too young at the time of the robbery), as they still will not reveal the truths.

Ava Ridley, was very young when Hunt left, and though he was much older, she crushed on him even then.  Ava is an ER nurse, and is well liked a by everyone.  She befriends Hunt and in a short time they both start falling for each other; with Hunt realizing that Ava is the women for him, but will she leave Blessings and move to Houston when he returns.

Slowly despite his determination to do the renovation, he slowly begins to accept his family again; and in time the truth will be revealed; which puts a different aspect to what happened.  Learning the truths will bring Hunt and his family together. The chemistry between Hunt and Ava was wonderful, as they made a great couple.  Along the way, there are a number of events that happens causing drama and heartbreak, that puts both Hunt and Ava right in the middle, and with other members of Blessings, and it is always fun to see how the town bonds together to help.

What follows is wonderful heartwarming & emotional story, with a great couple, wonderful characters that we keep meeting in all our visits to Blessings.  I love returning to Blessings, which is a wonderful community who takes care of their own. We should all be blessed with living in Blessings.

Sharon Sala writes another delightful story in this wonderful small town, and great couples that we care about with each and every book.  Blessings, Georgia always gives the vibe of a perfect place you would love to live in.  If you enjoy a pure romance, wonderful characters, great couples, and a small-town atmosphere, then you should be reading this series. Somebody to Love was a wonderful read, written so very well by Sharon Sala.

The Merriest Magnolia by Michelle Major – a Review

Description:
Home for the holidays has always meant cozy small-town traditions…but this year all that may change…

Carrie Reed has always been known as her hometown Good Girl, yet she still loves Magnolia, North Carolina—after all, this is where her newly discovered sisters, Avery and Meredith, live. But Christmas is on its way and with it, her first love. Dylan Scott is back in town and planning on changing everything she’s ever loved about Magnolia with his real estate development project…but not without a fight.

Returning to Magnolia was never in Dylan’s plans—it holds too many reminders that he would never be good enough, and memories of the girl he left behind. But when a tragedy leaves him guardian of a grieving teenager, Dylan returns, ready to remake the town into something only money can buy, small-town traditions be damned. But with Carrie determined to stop him, he finds himself wondering if redeeming his teenage reputation is worth losing out on his second chance at love.

Review:

The Merriest Magnolia by Michelle Major is the 2nd book in her Magnolia Sisters series. This series focuses on the town of Magnolia, North Carolina and three young women who discover that they are half sisters (the same father). Carrie and Meredith lived all their lives in Magnolia, and Avery arrived after learning about her inheritance. After a short time, the three of them became friends, dealing with the betrayal of their father, with each willing to help each other.  I loved the first book in this series, and after completing The Merriest Magnolia, I am happy to say this was equally as good.  Avery (first book heroine) was a great heroine, but I have to say I loved Carrie, our heroine in this book.

Carrie, who stayed with her father, to help and has always put the town first, even when he made a mess of things.  She was determined to rebuild Magnolia, and with her sisters help, they worked together to bring the town back to its original glory.   But soon all will change, as her ex-boyfriend from high school moves back to Magnolia, with his nephew and has his own plans for the town.

Dylan was Carrie’s love, until her father gave him a check to leave Carrie and Magnolia, leaving her broken hearted.  Dylan has not seen Carrie since then, and returns a successful and wealthy entrepreneur, with plans to tear down and rebuild the town to be luxury townhomes and resort for the wealthy.  Carrie isn’t happy to see Dylan, especially after she discovers that he has already bought some property to start making his changes.  They both have different ideas what is best for Magnolia, with Carrie, Avery and Meredith working to make the local businesses better; and Dylan to change it all.

Dylan and Carrie are forced to work together to help prepare the town’s Christmas festival, which develops into a temporary friendship, with each slowly rekindling their feelings from the past.  However, both are just as determined to prove their way works better.  Carrie begins to help Dylan with his 15-year-old nephew, who with the death of his cousin, is now his responsibility.  Carrie begins to resume her love of painting, and pushes Sam, who is a good artist, to work on his artwork.  This brings Sam out of his snarky attitude, and happier with Carrie, her sisters, family and townsfolk.

What follows is a wonderful heartwarming story with both Carrie and Dylan falling in love again, but will they be able to get past their different views of what is best for Magnolia?  I loved seeing Carrie, with Meredith and Avery, and how they had each other’s backs. The bond between the sisters was great.

The Merriest Magnolia was written so very well by Michelle Major, with a great couple, and so many wonderful characters, including Avery, Meredith, Gray, and many of the townsfolks.  I look forward to the next book in this series, which I expect to be about Meredith.  Cannot wait, as I loved everyone in Magnolia. I suggest you start with series by reading the first book, The Magnolia Sisters.

Jackie is a workaholic whose idea of a good time is a brisk five-mile run at the crack of dawn. The two sisters couldn’t be more opposite.

Now Hope is stuck in the middle of a warm, tight-knit family she can’t help but adore and a groom who turns out to be entirely wonderful…for her.

Hotel magnate Brent Albright knows something is off about his fiancée, but he doesn’t care. Gone is the driven woman with similar career goals, and in her place is someone warm and funny who not only charms his family but him as well. She’s doing everything she can to avoid him, but that’s probably just nerves. Two people about to wed couldn’t know each other less.

Now Brent is determined to woo his fiancée, for real this time, because the more he gets to know her, the more his sweet fiancée turns out to be entirely wonderful…for him.

And that’s when things start to get really complicated…

Review:

The Duplicate Bride by Ginny Baird is a standalone romance novel. Hope Webb has her own life going on. That’s when her twin sister Jackie asks her to pretend to be her at her pre-wedding celebrations. Just like they used to when they were kids!

Jackie has job responsibilities as an elite wedding planner, that she just can’t get away from. And seeing as how her impending wedding to Brent Albright is more of a business arrangement.  With the hope that love will come later kind of marriage, she thought it was the perfect idea.  Jackie needs help smoothing over things with Brent’s grandmother- who thinks Jackie is more into her work than this upcoming marriage.

Hope doesn’t agree to Jackie’s plan, but she does agree to go in her sister’s place and smooth things over with her future in laws. But when she arrives in Blue Hill, Maine things go awry. Brent’s grandmother has some snide comments and before Hope knows it, she is pretending to be her sister Jackie. Its only for the day right? But Hope seems to have a remarkable attraction to her future brother in law. Knowing that she can’t fall for her sisters soon to be husband proves easier said than done. Jackie keeps pushing back her arrival time further and further making Hope part of a bigger charade than she wanted to be. Brent also notices something is off with his fiancé. He seems to be even more attracted to her than he remembers. But what happens when everyone finds out the truth?

What will happen when Hope realizes she is on love with Brent?

I really enjoyed Hope, she definitely wasn’t comfortable lying to Brent and his family. But when future grandma makes some snide comments, all bets are off. She is going to be the best Jackie she can be. And I thoroughly enjoyed her.

I also loved her and Brent getting to truly know each other even though it was based on a lie. Wonderful read! The secondary characters were quite enjoyable as well.

Highly recommend!

Review:

Once in a Blue Moon by Sharon Sala is the 10th book in her wonderful Blessings, Georgia series. I am a big fan of this series, as it is always wonderful to return to Blessings, Georgia and the fabulous townsfolk we get to spend time with.

We meet our heroine, Cathy Terry, as she is on the run from her abusive ex-husband, who threatens her life. She continues to move from different places often to make sure he never finds her; Cathy finds Blessings, and decides to stay in this small town for the winter.  She goes out every day for her morning run, and many residents have gotten used to her passing their stores.  One morning she twists her ankle and Duke Talbot, our hero, finds her and helps bring her to the hospital.

Duke and his brother run a ranch on the outskirts of Blessings, and is considered Mr nice guy to the residents of Blessings.  He makes sure to visit Cathy, while she is on the mend, to bring her food, as do many of the wonderful neighbors.  Cathy finds herself meeting new people and surprised how generous and nice they have been to her.

In a short time, Duke and Cathy both find themselves falling for each other. She will tell him her story of being on the run from her ex-husband and why.  Cathy is also very giving, and is always willing to help others.  This endears her to town residents, especially after a video is released showing Cathy arguing with a private investigator (her ex hired him), and mentioned that her husband was trying to find her to kill her.  The local newspaper prints the story, as well as the video and the main newspapers get hold of this story.   The ex-husband is in a bind, as everyone learns the truth, with his peers threatening him.

What follows is wonderful heartwarming & emotional story, with a great couple, wonderful characters that we keep meeting in all our visits to Blessings.  Duke and the town open their arms to Cathy, especially as she uses her money, which she had from her divorce settlement to help those in need.   Once the threat was over, it was nice to see a few chapters and epilogue of Cathy, Duke and the town bonding with each other.  I love returning to Blessings, which is a wonderful community who takes care of their own. We should all be blessed with living in Blessings.

Sharon Sala writes another delightful story in a wonderful small town, and great couples that we care about with each and every book.  Blessings, Georgia always gives the vibe of a perfect place you would love to live in.  If you enjoy a pure romance, wonderful characters, great couples, and a small-town atmosphere, then you should be reading this series. Barefoot on Starlit Night by Jo McNally – a Review

Barefoot on Starlit Night by Jo McNally – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
With a little luck, this fake engagement just might become the real deal…

Bridget McKinnon would do anything for her feisty ailing grandma Maura. She’ll even stay close to home and serve up green beer in the Purple Shamrock instead of pursuing her own culinary dreams. But money’s tight. So when a stranger with a sexy brogue asks about the apartment she’s renting out, Bridget hopes she’s landed a little piece of Irish luck…only to find she’s knee-deep in a crazy plan that’s turning her life upside down.

College professor Finn O’Hearn needs this job in Rendezvous Falls—his visa may depend on it. If he can convince his beautiful but tightly wound landlord to be his pretend fiancée, his boss will be happy—as will Bridget’s matchmaking grandma and her meddling book club. Finn and Bridget fool (almost) everyone with their sizzling glances and toe-curling kisses…even as they tell themselves it’s only make-believe.

Playing a part has never been so easy. But when love is real, it’s time to find the courage to start playing by heart…

Review:

Barefoot on a Starlit Night by Jo McNally is the third book in her Rendezvous Falls series, but you don’t need to read the first two. That was a fun read. Yes it’s the usual boy meets girl, girl needs help, boy needs a Visa. (Green card the movie, springs to mind). But the family dynamics had me chuckling for most of the book. The family makes this book worth the read.

With a meddling Nana, cousins who can’t or won’t help Bridget run the pub her dad left her and her cousins. To the kids that constantly run everyone ragged. And do t forget the book club Nana attends, those ladies are funny. But the family do love one another, they just don’t have time to help Bridget run the pub.

The pub wasn’t Bridget’s dream, a restaurant where she could create her own dreams was what she wanted, but she promised her dad. And now she’s stuck, the pub isn’t making money, so she’s throwing out new ideas to the family, but as usual no one is interested.

Renting a room out seems the logical move, she needs the money, but the last tenant caused so much aggravation, Bridget begins to panic. Bridget is a micromanager, she can’t give anything up, she runs a tight ship, so it’s her way or not at all!! That’s causing her to run the bar and cook the food mainly on her own, staff don’t stay long.

Finn needs lodgings, he needs a place so his College professor will look at keeping him on. He’s good at his job, but his reputation needs building back up (punching your friend for sleeping with your wife at a graduation presentation isn’t the done thing) Rendezvous Falls have given him a second chance, so he’s not going to blow it, he needs to keep his head down and prove he’s worth the risk. But when a joke with his boss gets out of hand, he needs to think fast and get to Bridget before anyone else does……

But Bridget isn’t having any of it. The last man she trusted didn’t want to move to Rendezvous Falls with her, in fact not long after she left, he’d moved on!! So a fake engagement? Don’t think it’s going to happen……

As I said the family had me in stitches, but that’s not to say Finn and Bridget didn’t. There had been a little spark of attraction from the beginning, but the amount of time they need to spend together to convince people of their engagement has them looking at each other in a different light.

So will Finn get his tenure at the college? Will he finally be able to get his Green Card? Can Bridget get go of the reins a little? And will the fake engagement turn into a real one?

The Goodbye Guy by Natasha Moore – a Review

The Goodbye Guy by Natasha Moore – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple

Description:
Rachel Bradford is finally living her dream as the star of her own interior design show. But ratings are slipping, and if she wants to save the show, she has to set an episode in the hometown she fled. Worst of all, she’s going to have to work with the cocky bad boy who humiliated her.

Single dad, Beckett Colburn plans to turn an old fire station into a neighborhood bar. He’s blindsided when he discovers his family made a deal to turn his dream into a reality TV project. He’d rather run into a burning building than work with his childhood nemesis–on camera.

But it’s not easy with a TV crew in town stirring up trouble, spreading rumors, creating buzz. Not to mention the inconvenient sudden attraction that sparks every time Rachel and Beckett fight.

Review:

This the second novel in Natasha Moore’s Men of Lakeside series. As a second novel, it’s usually not as wonderful as the first. Great surprise! This one’s fantastic! Kudo to Natasha Moore on returning to Lakeside and giving us a fabulous story.

This is the story of Rachel Bradford and Beckett Colburn. Rachael and Beckett went to high school together and they were certainly not friends. Rachael’s most embarrassing moment came from Beckett and a few exaggerations he made. His worst moment came from Rachael yelling at him that he would never leave this town and would work for his family his whole life. So, no. They weren’t old friends or lovers…  However, neither will admit that there was an attraction, but their families were not friends and were always at opposite ends of politics in Lakeside, so they followed suit.

Rachel left Lakeside and ditched her families plans for her college to study art and design, where her heart and imagination led her. They’ve never let her forget what a disappointment that was for them. Even though she now has her own TV show The Rachel Touch. She works hard to get and keep her show fresh and exciting, maybe too hard.  So far, there are no limits to what she’ll do to keep her career on top. Now the producers want more. More excitement and skill. They’ve decided on a project in her hometown (that she’s never returned to), restyling an old firehouse station into a neighborhood bar for none other than her nemesis Beckett Colburn. She so doesn’t want to do this, but saving her show and career is a must.

Beckett is the youngest of the Colburn and Sons crew. He still feels he must prove himself trustworthy to his family. Noah, his older brother is mayor of Lakeside and along with their father, has arranged with The Rachel Touch producers to have them do the design and refurbishment of the family’s new project, without consulting Beckett. Beckett is not happy. He’s concerned about trying to work with Rachael, will she try to sabotage his bar? Can he keep control of “his” project and still do his work and raise his daughter?

Beckett is a single father. His daughter, Holly, is a fan of the Rachael Touch and Rachel herself. Rachel’s producer wants some family drama and forbidden romance, anything to push the show’s ratings.

Between all the animosity, will they be able to work together. Twenty years can change a lot of things, will they be able to reconcile their differences enough to work together? And what about that old attraction, could that still be alive?

Natasha Moore has been able to build her wonderful characters and hometown settings into a spectacular story with full on family drama, town politics, career issues, and sizzling romance. Grab a copy for yourself and get set for a wonderful read!
