Review:

Summer at Lake Haven by RaeAnne Thayne is the 11th book in her Haven Point series.  I have read one of the books in this series, but I think I need to go back and read the rest; this does read very well as a standalone.

Samantha Fremont, our heroine, is just getting used to living on her own, after the death of her controlling and difficult at times mother. She now owns the dress boutique shop in town, which she worked with her mother, and though she has hired help to run the store, Sam is buried with designing and making wedding gowns. Her friend Gemma (one of the previous books heroine) is getting married, and Sam is determined to created the best dress yet for her friend. In between all this overload, Sam adopted a cute dog, Betsey, who to her surprise a short few days later, gives birth to three adorable puppies.  I loved all four of the dogs.  So cute.

Ian Somerhill, our hero, is Gemma’s brother from England, and he rents out the house next door to Sam.  He meets her after she rescued his young son, who slipped of the docks in front of Sam’s house.  Ian is a widower, with two adorable children, and is working on a project that he needs to use Sam’s dock to monitor Salmon fish.  Sam becomes close to Ian’s endearing two children, as she gets them to help take care of the puppies while she is at work.

In a short time, the attraction between Sam and Ian begins to complicate things, as neither of them are interested in a relationship, and just try to be friends.  Ian has responsibilities that will change and take over his life when he returns to England after the wedding; Sam knows he is leaving soon, and her business, especially the wedding dress one is demanding all of her time.  Both feel that allowing them to act on their feelings will only cause heartbreak after the wedding, as there is no future for them.  Best laid plans do not always work out.

Summer at Lake Haven was a wonderful sweet heartwarming romance, with a couple that needed to find away to find their happiness.  I loved all of Sam’s friends, who play a big part in this story, and we also learn more about Gemma living in Haven Point.  I also like Ian and Gemma’s parents who arrived later for the wedding.  This was not only a great romance, but enjoyable even more so with all the wonderful couple, friendships, family and small town atmosphere that makes this so good.  I wholly suggest you read Summer at Lake Haven, so well written by RaeAnne Thayne.

Small Town, Big Secrets by Elsie Davis – a Review

Small Town, Big Secrets by Elsie Davis – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / Book Depository

Description:
To save her son, shy but determined waitress Becky McAllister would do just about anything. But she never expected “anything” to include the brother of the man who broke her heart.

Steve Parker needs a wife, now, if he has any hopes of winning his local DA election and becoming the advocate for the underserved he’s always dreamed of being. The sweet waitress seems like just the person—if he can get her to agree.

One year of marriage—no strings, no personal attachments. Becky gets the insurance funds she needs for her son’s surgery while Steve’s poll ratings soar. Neither planned on a commitment in their future, so they should have no problem making it through the year without getting emotionally involved, right?

Except Becky’s holding on to a secret from her past—one that would change everything.

Review:

I quite enjoyed Small Town, Big Secrets by Elsie Davis.  It’s a quick read with a good pace of storytelling.  Both Becky and Steve, even though they come from different sides of the tracks, wind up really complimenting each other.  They brought a nice balance to each other’s live and the story. I was really happy to see that Steve was nothing like his brother Jack.  These two are complete opposites and his brother is a complete jackass, for lack of a better word.  Even though the story is about Becky and Steve I found that Becky’s son Byron just stole the show every time he was in a scene.  Byron is one of those characters you wind up adoring from the instant you meet him. We learn that Byron is really Jack’s son, but no one has ever learned the truth because Mr. Jackass has blackmailed poor Becky into keeping the secret of Byron’s paternity.  However, the moment he and Steve meet, you see that instant connection.  Steve has his suspicions but doesn’t push Becky for answers right away and this allows for him and Bryon to really bond and get to know each other.  Their relationship is so stinking cute you can’t help but root for Steve to win over Becky in the end.

Steve and Becky’s road to happiness doesn’t happen over night. I liked that Ms. Davis keeps these characters real and makes them deal with real problems and fears going down the path they decided upon to help each other out. Both Steve and Becky make a deal to pretend to be in love for the benefits that a deal like this can be for both of them, not realizing that they would really develop feelings and fall in love for each other.  Yes there was some angst, drama, and bumps in the road for our couple along the way, but in the end Ms. Davis somehow managed to tie it all together in a sweet and charming way that only Steve could pull off, and deliver that HEA they all deserve including Byron.

If you like the small town story-line theme, with solid characters and storytelling then this one’s for you.  Just grab your favourite cup of tea or glass of wine and settle in outside on a beautiful day and enjoy the adventure that is Becky and Steve.

Until next time, happy reading everyone!

Betting on Love by Jennifer Hoopes – a Review

Betting on Love by Jennifer Hoopes – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple

Description:
Whitney Carroll is back home in Gatlinburg, Tennessee after divorcing her low-down, cheating husband. First thing on the to-do list: Get a job. Second thing: Just say no to men. Third thing: Don’t fall for the boss. One out of three’s not too bad, right?

For Sam Ellis, his to-do list is always work, work, work, trying to keep his family’s legacy alive. Now, out of concern, his siblings bet he can’t keep a girl happy for thirty days, and if he loses he’s out as CEO. No problem, he can fake a relationship. And he knows just who to ask…his new man-vegan assistant.

Yet Whitney’s sexy boss—secret singer and Skee-Ball champion—is definitely NOT boring, and their connection is undeniable. But when a disaster strikes at work, Sam will have to decide if he’s willing to trade in his job for his heart.

Review;

Betting on Love by Jennifer Hoopes is a charming, sexy, flirty fast read.  Ms. Hoopes drops the reader into the dynamic that becomes Whitney and Sam from the first chapter and the sparks fly from there.  Whitney and Sam have a flirty, sexual, yet friendly chemistry that’s apparent from the get go and it just leaps off the pages.  You can’t help but notice the attraction between these two characters and it catapults their adventure from beginning to end.  It’s this instant connection and attraction between the two characters that make the reader dive in, not putting the book down till you’ve read everything there is to know about Whitney and Sam.  It doesn’t hurt that Ms. Hoopes adds a wonderful secondary cast of characters in the form of Sam’s interfering siblings to only add to the already fun and crazy adventure between Whitney and Sam.

I enjoyed both characters, yes they each have a back story that propels them to agree to the crazy bet made by Sam’s siblings, but in the end both realize that the chemistry and relationship that they’ve formed through working together goes far beyond a silly bet.  Both have fallen in love with the other, but don’t know if the other is on the same page.  Instead of just being honest with their feelings and talking to each other they allow work and the bet to get in the way, almost destroying something good between them.  In the end of course love prevails and it all works out but not before a little misunderstanding and anger at one another and themselves gets in the way. However, thanks to Sam’s siblings the two are brought together in the end and when Sam finally shows his secret talent to the whole city by getting up on stage and singing his apology to Whitney for basically being a donkey, I swooned and nearly fell off my chair.  I absolutely loved that scene, I think it was my favourite in the whole story and there were a few funny scenes along the way as well.

Betting on Love by Jennifer Hoopes a perfect book for sitting back with and getting comfortable as we all deal with these uncertain times.  Yes it’s a fast fun read, but it’s also a story that lets us forget what’s happening outside around us and escape for a few wonderful, sexy and fun hours following Sam and Whitney along their adventure.

Until next time, happy reading everyone!!

Now the only question is: How can he convince her to give them both a chance at forever?

Review:

The Magnolia Sisters by Michelle Major is a wonderful small-town romance that I thoroughly enjoyed, and I expect this will be a series.   Avery Keller, our heroine, arrives in Magnolia to claim an inheritance from a father she never knew.  Avery is coming off of an emotional breakup with a boyfriend who she didn’t know was married, and upon arrival comes across as embittered and snarky.  All she wants is her money and to leave and start a new life elsewhere.

Grayson (Gray) Atwell, our hero and a firefighter, meets Avery at the local coffee shop and finds her a bit nasty.  Gray does find Avery attractive, despite her attitude, but he has no plans to become involved, as he has a young daughter, Violet, who is his number one priority.

Avery meets the other two women, who also share the inheritance, and who are her half- sisters (Carrie & Meredith) that neither of them knew anything about; but they all have one thing in common…their despair over the deceased father, who kept all those secrets.   They both grew up in Magnolia, though never really friends.  When Avery talks about selling, both of the girls do not want to sell, and will work on Avery to think about changing and fixing things in Magnola, as well as convince her to stay. I loved how in a short time, Avery began to become close to Carrie and Meredith, opening up her battered heart to having a family for the first time in her life.  But convincing her to stay is a difficult proposition, especially when she finds herself falling hard for Gray, and in time his daughter.

What follows is a wonderful heartwarming story with both Carrie and Meredith becoming very close to Avery, and making such a great team.  They also play a big part in helping Avery face the fact that she has fallen in love with Gray, which also included Violet.  I loved how they all bonded to make sure that Avery knew her life belonged in Magnolia with all of them.

The Magnolia Sisters was written so very well by Michelle Major, with so many wonderful characters; Avery, Carrie, Meredith, Gray, Violet and many of the townsfolks.  I look forward to the next book in this series, which I expect to be about Carrie.  Cannot wait, as I loved everyone in Magnolia. I suggest you start with series by reading The Magnolia Sisters.

The house was one of the oldest in Magnolia, with ten-foot ceilings even on the second floor. That fact gave the room an open feel, despite how crowded it was. But it wasn’t going to make it any easier to get Avery unstuck.
“Gray’s here,” Carrie called, and Gray saw the legs go tense.
“I’m fine.” Avery’s tone was exasperated but he could hear the thread of pain in it. “I don’t need help.”
“Where’s the attic?” he asked Carrie.
She backed out of the bedroom and pointed to an open doorway across from the main staircase. “I warned her not to go up there.”
“This isn’t the time for ‘I told you so,’” Avery shouted.
Carrie gave him a look and lowered her voice. “Get her out, Gray. She’s irritating as hell, but I can’t have her hurt in this mess of a house.”
“She’ll be fine,” he reassured her. “I’m going to try to make this work from above instead of below. I’ll need reinforcements if we’re going to move the furni¬ture. That’ll take too long.”
He climbed the steps, waving a hand in front of his face until the dust that filled the air cleared.
“You sure know how to make your mark on a place,” he said casually as he surveyed the scene.
“I don’t need your help,” she snapped. “Doesn’t Car¬rie have a helpful neighbor she could call?”
“She called me,” he answered simply. He kind of liked Avery Keller’s attitude and admired her calm in the situation, but right now he was all business. “Can you tell if the floor joists around you will hold my weight or are they too damaged?”
“The ones in front of me will give,” she answered. “I’m wedged in here tight and when I try to shift my weight to lift myself up, everything feels like it’s sag¬ging.”
“Then don’t move.”
“Thanks for the tip,” she muttered. “In case you care, I also have a piece of splintered wood lodged in my left arm. So I can only use the right one at the moment.”
His gut tightened at the thought of her in pain. “Do you think anything’s broken?” He stepped gingerly to¬ward her, making sure to test each section of floorboard before he moved. He couldn’t very well help her if he ended up in the same predicament.
“Bruised,” she admitted, “but not broken. Do you think Clark Griswold knew how lucky he was to land on that bunk bed?”
“That’s the Hollywood version of this scenario. This is real life.”
“Does that mean I’m not going to get a happy end¬ing?”
“You’re going to be fine,” he told her, placing his tool bag on the floor and pulling out a small saw.
“You must practice that commanding tone at the fire¬house.” She laughed softly. “It’s weirdly reassuring.”
“My job is rescuing people. I’m good at it.”
“Great.” For the first time since he’d encountered her at the convenience store, Avery sounded defeated.
It bothered him more than he cared to admit.
He began talking her through his plan, mostly mak¬ing it up as he went along. The floor joists behind her seemed to be structurally sound, but he wasn’t going to risk putting the weight of his entire two hundred pounds on them.
“Can you get her out?” Carrie called from below them. “I climbed over the mess in here and I’ve got pil¬lows to cushion a fall just in case.”
“I’m glad I didn’t wear a skirt today,” Avery said through clenched teeth.
“Nothing I haven’t seen before,” he reassured her, earning a snort.
She shifted to look over her shoulder at him, and the floor around her heaved.
He heard Avery’s gasp, along with Carrie’s worried cry from the bedroom.
“Stay still,” he commanded, then called to Carrie, “Don’t stand directly underneath her.”
“I don’t want to fall,” Avery said, more to herself than to him.
He answered anyway. “You’re not going to fall.”
She drew in a ragged breath. “I might be starting to panic. I don’t usually panic.”
“No reason to.” He bent to his knees, then crawled forward, stretching out to reach her. The ideal way to handle this would be clearing out the spare bedroom and having some of his crew supporting her from below. But there was no guarantee that more of the floor wouldn’t give way while they waited for backup to arrive. Plus she was in pain, and he wanted her safe on solid ground as soon as he could manage it.
“I’m right behind you,” he said as he got closer. “I’m going to cut the piece of wood that’s got you wedged in here.”
“I feel like a chicken skewer.”
One side of his mouth curved, and he inched forward. Narrating his movements for her, he managed to saw through the splintering section of wood.
Avery let out a sigh when it fell away from her arm. She had a deep cut, but it wasn’t bleeding badly at the moment.
“Now I’m going to lift you back toward me. Use your elbows to brace on the joists on either side of you.”
“I can do three pull-ups in my CrossFit class,” she announced. “Who knew all my upper body strength would come in so handy?”
“Exactly,” he agreed, knowing it was fear driving her seemingly casual chatter. “Do you upend tires, too?”
“Sometimes. Mostly it’s a lot of burpees and suicides.”
“I hate burpees.” He positioned his hands under her arms. “You’re strong, Avery. You’ve done a great job holding steady. Just a few more seconds and…” He half lifted, half dragged her up out of the hole, quickly moving both of them away from the water-damaged section of the attic.
“You did it,” Carrie shouted from the bedroom below.
“You did it,” Avery echoed in a hoarse whisper.
“We did it,” he corrected. He had the crazy urge to wrap his arms around her and pull her close, holding her to him until the tremors he felt rippling through her body subsided. The notion was odd and out of character. He’d rescued plenty of people in his years as a firefighter.
Hell, just last week, he’d come to the aid of Kenneth Masminster when he’d locked himself in his tool shed. But a seventy-five-year-old gardener who smelled like menthol and mothballs hadn’t elicited near the emo¬tional reaction that Avery did. Avery, with her shiny hair and manicured nails, and the scent of expensive perfume on her skin that was at odds with the hot, dusty attic. A scent that should put him off. As appealing as it was, what the scent conveyed about the woman who wore it made her all wrong for him.
“Thank you,” she said into the front of his uniform shirt. She seemed as unwilling to let go as he was.

TRC: Hi, Michelle.  Welcome to The Reading Café

Michelle: Thank you for having me. I’m so glad to be here.

TRC: We would like to start with some background information. Would you please tell us something about yourself?

Michelle: I grew up in Ohio but have lived in Colorado for over twenty-five years. No matter how long I’m here, I’ll always consider myself a Midwestern girl at heart. I write sweet and sexy contemporary romance and have published over thirty books. I’m so excited about the release of The Magnolia Sisters, which kicks off my first single title series with Harlequin.

TRC:  What inspired you to become a writer?

Michelle: For over a decade I worked in Human Resources and traveled for my job. I had a crazy fear of flying and randomly picked up a romance novel in an airport bookstore (it was a Johanna Lindsey). I loved it so much and realized that the stories I told myself in my head were romance novel plots. That’s when I began to write. It took a lot of years (and getting my two kids through the toddler years) before I got published. It was worth the wait!

TRC: Can you please give us a brief description of The Magnolia Sisters?

Michelle: The Magnolia Sisters is a series that focuses on three women who discover they share the same father after he dies and how they manage to forge a bond in the small town of Magnolia, North Carolina. In the first book we meet Avery, a big city transplant who is starting over and definitely not looking for love (spoiler alert: she finds it with a sexy firefighter). I loved (as always) writing an emotionally charged romance but also having the opportunity to explore the relationship between the three sisters.

TRC: Based on the ending, I am hoping this is a series.  How many books do you plan on writing for this series?

Michelle: Well, I’m so glad you feel that way and, yes, The Magnolia Sisters is currently planned as a three-book series. The second book will be Carrie’s story and the baby sister, Meredith, will be featured in book three. I’m mid-way through Meredith’s book now and still love writing in this world, so fingers crossed readers love it too. You might be seeing even more Magnolia books in the future.

TRC:  What is your writing process?  Do you like to write at specific times, in a special place?  Do you plan your books in advance or let them develop as you write?

Michelle: I’m definitely of the Nora Roberts’ school of puking out the first draft—I plot the major points of the story and take lots of notes as I write the first draft. My normal production for a first draft is 10-15k words a week. Then I do a deep dive edit. When I’m drafting, I love editing. When I’m editing, I love the drafting process. I have an office connected to the house (it’s also the rec room area) but I always write on my laptop and I take it everywhere.

If you saw the layer of dust on my furniture or the sweeping piles of dog hair blowing down the hall, you’d know why I have time to write. I have learned to be fairly disciplined with my schedule, especially with multiple deadlines. Giving the time to my craft is most important to me. Practically, I set word count goals each week and I put my butt in the chair until I meet them.

TRC: Walk us through a day in the life of Michelle Major.

Michelle: Most of my days follow the same schedule (at least Monday – Friday). My husband leaves for work early (normally before 5:30) so I wake up then. I usually write in my journal or do a bit of stretching and plan the day. My high schoolers are then up and I like to be with them while they have breakfast and make lunches. They leave by 7:00 and the rest of the day (until 2) is spent writing, working on the business of being an author, procrastinating by doing laundry or other housework (no lie!). I love listening to podcasts and audiobooks, so I keep myself entertained that way. I normally make time for a dog walk as well and feel so blessed to live in Colorado near the mountains. Once my  kids get home, I continue to work but it’s stop and start as they take priority in the afternoon and evening. Unless I’m on deadline, and then the deadline takes all the priorities. I’m a creature of habit so I usually have the same thing for breakfast and lunch most days. When the kids don’t have activities, we always eat as a family. That’s important to both my hubby and me.

TRC:  Can you tell us about what’s coming up next for 2020 & 2021.

Michelle: I’m so excited about The Magnolia Sisters series. In addition to The Magnolia Sisters, the second book in the series, The Merriest Magnolia, will release in October. I also have three books in a new series, Welcome To Starlight, with Harlequin Special Edition so it’s an exciting year for me! 2021 will continue both series and hopefully even more books to come.

TRC: What are hobbies or interests do you have?

Michelle: I love doing anything outside—lots of hiking with my dogs. My kids are teenagers so much of my free time is spent on the sidelines of their activities. And we also foster kittens for a local animal rescue. Pretty much anything with fur, I’m in!

TRC:  Would you like to add anything else?

Michelle: If you’re at all interested in writing, my best advice is “baby steps.” Even now—over 30 books written—sometimes I start the day setting my timer for 15 minutes. Just to start. I feel like I can do anything in small chunks. You can too! ☺

Once in a Blue Moon by Amanda Ashby – a Review

Once in a Blue Moon by Amanda Ashby – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple

Description:
Florist Laney George has a successful business, amazing friends and big, big dreams––oh, and a broken heart. But she’s working through that last one. Then the man she hoped to never see again shows up––and Laney’s carefully ordered plans are experiencing technical difficulties.

Celebrated Author Adam Fitzpatrick planned to be in St. Clair for no more than a day. Sign the books, and get out. Same story, different day. What he didn’t count on was Laney George, who happens to be the star of his somewhat fictional tale. She broke his heart years ago, and he’d gone a bit mad. Okay, maybe a lot mad––and he put everything in his book, never imagining it would be a world-wide best seller.

Now that he’s seen her again, he wants answers. But it isn’t just her that draws him in. It’s the town, something is happening and for the first time in years…he can write again. If only he could convince the woman who hates him most to start a new chapter in their story.

Review:

Once in a Blue Moon by Amanda Ashby is the 2nd book in her Belles of St. Clair series. Laney runs a flower shop in a small town, she loves the job and where she lives. But when Laney has an itch, she just has to scratch it, that leads her to all sorts of predicaments… adopting a dog, marrying a man after one date, and buying property to boost her flower sales. She’s also a widow, almost five years now, and she still misses him.

Adam is a famous author, but he never forgot St. Clair or a certain someone in that little town. She broke his heart and he wrote about it…..

When Adam is seen in town, Laney panics, will the town put the clues together and find out she was the one who stalked? Except it wasn’t really her stalking him, everything he wrote about her was lies, (well some of the milder things were her, but only fun and silly things) it was his way of venting, she’d broken his heart and he’d been angry. She hadn’t let him explain himself.

But that hasn’t stop Laney from worrying about the community putting all the clues together and working out that Laney was the infamous “Nina”. And I got the impression she was upset that he had twisted what they had into a story. But again I feel we were missing pieces but that they will be added along the way.

The characters were nicely written. I had to laugh at Adam, realising he could write whilst being around Laney, but battling his anger and then guilt regarding Laney. Could he convince her to give him another chance?

Laney was a hoot, she usually acts on itches she gets, but with Adam, she was determined not to. Her quirky manner was fun (weaving flowers through her dogs collar and painting it’s “nails”) regarding Adam with scepticism, if he wrote about them the first time, what’s your stop him from doing it again?

This is book two in the series.  I’ve read the first book, but I don’t think it makes to much of a difference if read out of order.

Review:

Huckleberry Lake by Catherine Anderson is the 6th book in her Mystic Creek series.  Each one of the books in this series usually centers on two couples; one being the main couple and the other playing a smaller but nice part.    In Huckleberry Lake, the main couple was Erin and Wyatt, whom we met in the previous book, which had left the storyline open about them.

Erin was a new cop, who was also the niece of Slade (last book hero), and she truly was not happy in her job.  Wyatt, is the lead foreman on Slade’s ranch, and is deaf.   Erin has been trying to get Wyatt to pay attention to her attraction to him, but to no avail.  What she doesn’t know is that Wyatt, due to something in his past, has sworn off any relationship with woman.  Wyatt goes out of his way to tell Erin to stop flirting with him, as he is not interested.

Wyatt’s brother Kennedy will rescue a girl from an attack from her former boyfriend, and in a short time after the girl is attacked again, Erin decides she cannot handle working for law enforcement.  She goes to her uncle and decides she would love to work on the ranch.  Of course, once she starts to work there, she learns that Wyatt will be her boss.   Erin gets discouraged, as she tries to work hard at a frenetic pace, which has Wyatt and Slade warning her to slow down and learn about safety; but Erin had a rough childhood, with a father that was never satisfied, and decided perhaps she needed to walk away.  Will Erin give up and leave the ranch, or find a way to get past her tough young years and learn to work with everyone?

The other couple, who also has a part of this story is Erin’s best friend, Julie, and Blackie, who is 20 years older.  There chemistry was very good, and I did like their story line.

What follows is a nice romance about a couple who knew they were meant for each other, but unable to get past their issues.  I loved the part where Erin learned to deal with a troubled horse, and train him to trust her.  I also loved Wyatt’s dog Domino and of course, the cub bear Four Toes (who was part of the previous book).

I did like Erin and Wyatt, but both had their own issues that blocked any relationship.  It took almost to the end of the book, for at least Wyatt to open his eyes.  Erin earlier began to rise up beyond her issues with her father, and I really liked seeing her change.  She showed Wyatt how much she cared for him, and knew it would be difficult for him to allow his feelings for her change his determination to never become involved.   That alone throughout the book did cut the chemistry between them.  It was nice when Erin pushed enough to make him realize that with her, he did not need to protect her.

Huckleberry Lake was a great story and emotional, as well as very well written by Catherine Anderson.   I suggest if you have not read the Mystic Creek series, you need to do so soon and start with the first book.

Review:

The Way Back to You by Sharon Sala is the 9th book in her wonderful Blessings, Georgia series.  As always when we return to Blessings, Georgia, Sharon Sala gives us another wonderful feel good romance and a great couple.

We meet our hero, Sully Raines, when cleaning out his deceased parents house, he discovers papers that show he is adopted.  Sully, who is a retried fireman, is determined to find his real parents, which will turn out to be a dead end each stop along the way; his last hope leads him to Blessings, Georgia.  Planning only to stay a few days in search for his elusive birth mother, Sully’s plans will change when he ends up rescuing a woman who was trapped in a car accident by a drunk driver.

Melissa, our heroine, is the woman who Sully rescues, who turns out to be his teenage sweet heart, whom neither have seen all these years. Melissa is a widow for many years, and accepts that she will never remarry; but things will change, as their romance will rebloom.  I loved Sully and Melissa together, as not only did they have great chemistry; they were tailor made for each other.  This was a beautiful romance, which was very sweet & heartwarming, but the mystery focused on who in Blessings, Georgia was Sully’s mom.  Elliot, whom we met in previous books, has the sight, and he can tell a clue to Sully to stay in Blessings, as well as provide a painting.

What follows is wonderful heartwarming & emotional story, with a great couple, wonderful characters that we keep meeting in all our visits to Blessings.   There will be a few surprises, and Sully with Melissa will find their family expanding for a wonderful happy ending.   I love returning to Blessings, which is a wonderful community who takes care of their own. We should all be blessed with living in Blessings.

Sharon Sala writes another fabulous story, and she continually amazes me that she gives us such great couples that we care about with each and every book.  If you enjoy a pure romance, wonderful characters, great couples, and a small-town atmosphere, then you should be reading this series. The Way Back to You was a wonderful read, written so very well by Sharon Sala.

The Firefighter’s Cinderella by Sonya Weiss – a Review

The Firefighter’s Cinderella by Sonya Weiss – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple

Description:
What’s a Cinderella to do when she’s accidentally kicked her Prince Charming in the face and broken his nose? Hold an audition, of course.

Harper Bailey is desperate to keep her family’s amusement park business up and running, but her employees keep quitting, and the man playing prince to her Cinderella in the company’s mainstage show is just the latest casualty. When sexy firefighter Rafferty Bradford, the most eligible bachelor in their small town, offers to step in, Harper agrees–reluctantly. After all, she and Rafferty are ex-best friends with a ton of past history. Surely they’ll have zero chemistry onstage.

Rafferty has his own reasons for agreeing to play Prince Charming, and none of them are good. If Harper finds out the truth, it’ll just reinforce every rumor she’s believed over the years about Rafferty’s bad rep. But when their chemistry explodes both onstage and off, he’ll have to choose between happily-ever-after for himself…or the Cinderella he’s fallen for.

Review:

In The Firefighter’s Cinderella by Sonya Weiss, let’s get past a small town could possibly entertain TWO amusement parks.

Let’s ignore the best friends who use to be inseparable, why did they fall out? And they have both been burnt by love, why would they put themselves through it again?

Ignore all that and you have a fun read. It’s part of a series, but you don’t need to read the previous ones (I haven’t and I didn’t feel I missed anything)

Harper needs a Prince Charming, and pretty fast. Her family business is relying on her, and she can’t fail them….. Enter her ex-best friend, who as kids, she and Rafferty were inseparable, but one moment it’s all over; Rafferty moves on, and Harper is left healing a broken heart.

Rafferty is a player, a love them and leave them guy, but there is a reason, and when he walked away from Harper, he thought it was for the best. He misses his best friend, but not enough to ever offer her a ring. But if she had an itch, then he’s the guy to help with that.

The town thinks that Rafferty and Harper should be together, and trying to convince everyone they are only together for the amusement park is proving harder than they thought. Except would it be so bad, just to give in?

Rafferty is hiding something, and when Harper finds out, it could end their newly formed friendship. It’s a fun read, no smut, but lots of laughs. Got to love a matchmaking granny.
