REVIEW: SPARKING ARES is the third instalment in Kristine Allen’s contemporary, adult RBMC: Dallas TX paranormal, erotic, MC romance series. This is mountain lion shifter/MC member Memphis ‘Ares’, and Ember Cole’s story line. SPARKING ARES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Ares and Ember) SPARKING ARES follows in the wake of betrayal and revenge. As a member of the Demented Sons MC, Ares lost the woman he loved, and not getting the help from the brothers he friended, Ares walked, and worked his way into the RBMC: Dallas. Desperate to avenge the murder of his girlfriend, Ares got the information he needed, and set out to destroy George Horacio, the one man he held responsible but all does not go according to plan when, hoping to ‘kill’ George’s sister, everything backfires when Ares ‘lion’ is determined to claim Ember as their mate. Knowing he royally screwed up, Ares must now keep Ember imprisoned, a prisoner who has no idea as to the who or the what. What ensues is the building relationship between Ember and Ares, and the potential fall-out as Ember’s time with Ares comes to a close.

Ares has yet to gain revenge for the death of his former girlfriend, and falling for Ember was never in the cards. George Horacio had plans for Ember, a payment for a debt, but Ares took control before Ember’s life was destroyed. Ember never thought she would fall in love with her sexy captor but the heart wanted what was never hers to claim. Believing himself unworthy of love or a mate, Ares struggled to let go of the only woman he would ever want. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative.

The secondary and supporting characters included club president Raptor and his mate Sage, Facet, Phoenix, Blade, One-Short, Gator, Torque, Sloane and Niara, as well as Ember’s step-brother George, and Albert Tarasov.

SPARKING ARES is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is entertaining and enchanting; the romance is seductive Edna fated; the characters are energetic, dynamic and determined.
