REVIEW:TAINTED LIE is the third and final instalment in Senna Kincaid’s contemporary adult TAINTED KINGS erotic, Mafia romance series- a spin off from the author’s LOCKED SECURITY series. This is youngest son of the Chicago Greek Mafia Jude Olysses, and Ariel Caster’s story line. TAINTED LIE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is a ongoing premise throughout.

NOTE: TAINTED LIE was originally released under the title Jude by Sarah Peis.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jude and Ariel) TAINTED LIE follows the search for a potential killer. Someone ordered a hit on the Olysses patriarch, and Jude buys the apartment building where the attempted assassination took place but Jude never expected to come face to face with his future in the guise of Ariel Caster, a young woman now living in the apartment with her twelve year old brother. Ariel Caster is struggling to keep her head above the proverbial water but Ariel’s secrets are about to threaten the life of her brother, and the man with whom she is falling in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Ariel and Jude, and the potential fall-out as Ariel’s lies and betrayal place her in the direct line of fire.

The world building continues to focus on the hunt for a killer. Someone ordered a hit on Constantine Olysses, and Jude believes it is only a matter of time before the killer is revealed. As Ariel struggles to keep custody of her brother, her family is determined to destroy their lives

The relationship between Ariel and Jude is one of immediate attraction but both have secrets that are in direct competition with one another. Jude is looking for the person responsible for attacking his father, and Ariel is battling between head and heart when her brother’s life is threatened in place of her own. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Jude’s brothers Gabriel and Liam, and their parents Constantine and Althea, as well as Ariel’s brother Lenny. The requisite evil has many faces.

TAINTED LIE is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, retribution and murder, family and forgiveness. The premise is intriguing, captivating and entertaining; the romance is seductive ; the characters are broken, desperate and charismatic.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Vanna and Gabriel) TAINTED PROMISE focuses on the arrange marriage between our leading couple. Vanna Volkov has been sold to the Olysses’ family in an effort to end the war between the Russians and the Greeks but Vanna has never met her intended groom, a man who treats Vanna like the dirt beneath his shoes. Left alone for days at a time, Vanna is forced to betray her new husband, a betrayal that will end with Vanna battling for her life. As Gabriel struggles between head and heart with his attraction to his new bride, a leak in the organization points a finger at someone close. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship between Vanna and Gabriel, and the potential fall-out when Vanna discovers she has gone from the proverbial frying pan into the fire, and may not survive the actions of everyone involved.

The world building continues to focus on the tight knit, powerful Olysses family. The patriarch is recovering from an attempt on his life, and the family is hunting for the people responsible. As Vanna struggles with a new direction in life, betrayal will come at a cost, a cost to her life.

The relationship between Vanna and Gabriel is an arranged marriage. Tempestuous at best, Gabriel is rarely home, abandoning his wife until her presence is necessary. Neither one was accepting of their organized marriage but without her partner, Vanna suspected her life would be very lonely, dangerous and dark. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include the return of Gabriel’s brothers: Liam and his wife Quinn, Jude, and sister Freya Olysses, their parents Althea and Constancine Olysses, as well as Vanna’s father and head of the Russian Bratva Aleksandr Volkov. We are introduced to Gabriel’s housekeeper Cleo, and Vanna’s friend Caspar. The requisite evil is a familiar face. Jude’s story line is next.

TAINED PROMISE is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, abuse and torture, forgiveness and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is heart breaking, emotional and intriguing; the characters are broken, struggling but trying to heal; the romance is seductive and impassioned.

The relationship between Liam and Quinn is one of mutual attraction but Liam is Quinn’s best friend Freya’s eldest brother, and the taste of the forbidden pushes Quinn to want more. Keeping their relationship a secret is about to spiral out of control, when Liam must take his position at the top, potentially pushing Quinn out of his life and his heart. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and determined secondary and supporting characters including Liam’s sister and Quinn’s best friend Freya Olysses and her husband Gunner Anderson (Stealth/Locked Security 1); brothers Gabriel and Jude; head of the Russian Bratva Aleksandr, and Quinn’s sous chef Vlad and his wife Tati, and aunt Amara. My only complaint/concern is the less than Greek names for Liam, Gabriel and Jude 😉 .Gabriel’s story line is next.

TAINTED KING is a story of power and control, secrets and lies, heart breaking and forgiveness, acceptance and love. The premise is intriguing, captivating and entertaining but a lost less dark than most crime world story lines; the romance is provocative and seductive; the characters are dynamic and charismatic.
