REVIEW: MANACONDA is the first installment in Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott’s contemporary, adult HAMMERED erotic, rock romance series focusing on the rock band Hammered. This is lead singer Hunter Jordan, and PR expert Kennedy McManus’s story line. HAMMERED is a spin off series from Quinn and Elliot’s LOST IN OBLIVION rock romance series. You do not have to have read LOST IN OBLIVION to follow MANACONDA. Several of the characters from the original series cross over with cameo appearances.

NOTE: MANACONDA ends on a cliffhanger but MANACONDA : The Second Coming is scheduled for release January 26, 2016-and it’s FREE.

Told from dual first person points of view (Kennedy and Hunter) MANACONDA focuses on Kennedy’s attempts to keep the band-HAMMERED-on track when their lead singer’s ‘junk’ becomes the topic of paparazzi magazines, television gossip shows, and the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Hunter Jordan is a rock-god, at the top of his game with a new album, a new tour, and every woman and man’s fantasy come to life but this kind of ‘publicity’ he could do without. Enter Kennedy McManus, Ripper Records’s latest PR princess (spin doctor), and the woman who calls to Hunter’s heart. But Hunter is having a difficult time letting go of the past when his ex-fiancee has an agenda of her own.

MANACONDA is a rock star romance with all of the gritty backstage drama you would expect from a rock star band. The ‘over the top’ antics, rivalries and jealous mind games begin to cast doubts between one time friends, and members of the band leaving Kennedy with her hands full on more than one occasion. But a second chance comes with a heavy heart when Hunter continues to fight for what is no longer his to claim. The jealous mind is no competition for a broken heart.

We are introduced to the members of the band: drummer Hudson Wyatt; Faith (Keys) Keystone; bassist Owen Blackwell; guitarists Reed (Bats) Mason, and Zach; and head of security Patrick; as well as Hunter’s brother Noah Jordan, and the band’s manager Indiana (Indie) West. Donovan Lewis and Lila Shawcross (from Lost in Oblivion) make cameo appearances, and Dex Munroe another executive for Ripper Records.

MANACONDA has a little bit of everything: fun, flirty foreplay; sexual tension and impassioned $ex. There are moments of chocolate fun, and garlic filled humor that are lick-worthy from every angle. The premise is addicting, intoxicating and hopeful; the characters are colorful, passionate and intense; the romance is seductive and heartbreaking. The happily ever after has yet to be fulfilled.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 3, 2015

He’s shattered…and she’s the only woman who can help him pick up the pieces.

Nick Crandall has everything he ever thought he wanted. Tons of money, a glamorous lifestyle, professional admiration for making music. But all his success doesn’t erase the memories of who and what he’s lost on the road to fame and fortune. Nor does it stop his dream from shattering, right before his eyes.

Until the person he least expects pulls him back from the brink.

Lila Shawcross is obsessed with her work, which includes managing the drama-prone members of Oblivion. She’s definitely not about to let a hot-headed, hard-bodied lead guitarist wreck her orderly existence or dilute her focus. So what if she’s never craved a man quite this much? There are just too many complications, including the gold band on her left hand.

Except Nick is determined to possess her…and what Nick wants, Nick gets. Because this time, he’s not walking away.

•••••••••

REVIEW: SHATTERED is the fourth full-length installment in the contemporary, adult LOST IN OBLIVION erotic romance series co-authored by Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott focusing on the members of the rock band Oblivion. This is guitarist Nick Crandall, and band manager Lila Shawcross’s storyline. SHATTERED can be read as a stand alone but for cohesion and backstory, as well as Nick and Lila’s history, I recommend reading the series in order as all of the previous couples play a secondary and supporting role.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Nick and Lila) SHATTERED follows the forbidden relationship between Oblivion’s guitarist Nick Crandall, and their manager Lila Shawcross-Lila is married, and although she is for all intents and purposes separated from the man in question, there are reasons that her affair with Nick can never be made public. Lila’s ice-cold exterior hides a sensitive and damaged soul.

For months Lila and Nick have butted heads due in part to Nick’s attitude, and Lila’s ‘Dragon Lady’ managerial skills as it pertains to the band’s public relations and personal lives. But Nick’s reputation as a man-whore; a sexually aggressive rocker has played havoc with Lila’s thoughts and ideas about Nick. As their relationship begins to develop, Nick and Lila’s feelings and emotions for one another grow deeper but Lila’s broken marriage and Nick’s past keep rearing their ugly heads. Meanwhile, Nick’s family life continues to implode as he finds himself falling for the same old scams and heartbreaking betrayal brought about by his father and sister back home. We get up close with Nick as the demons from his past continue to control his present.

The relationship between Lila and Nick has been building for several story lines. Nick and Lila’s rapport with one another has been acrimonious and antagonistic. Lila blames Nick for a number of the band’s problems, and Nick sees Lila as a controlling shrew. The $ex scenes are erotic, sensual and provocative.

All of the previous story line couples play a secondary and supporting role as we get reacquainted with Deacon and Harper, Gray and Jazz, Simon and Margo.

SHATTERED is an erotic tale; the introduction to Nick and Lila’s forbidden romance that finds two people lost in a world of broken promises and broken hearts, misunderstandings, and betrayal. The premise is engaging, captivating and inspiring; the characters are colorful, dynamic and animated; the romance is provocative and intense. SHATTERED ends on a cliffhanger-there is more Lila and Nick to come.

REVIEW: GIFTED is a short Christmas story from Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott that focuses on Nick and Lila’s tumultuous relationship during the Christmas holidays. The timeline falls between SHATTERED November 2015) and FUSED (February 2016).

It is Christmas time. The members of Oblivion have gathered for a family celebration, and Nick has yet to buy gifts so he embarks on a Christmas Eve shopping spree with Jazz, in the hopes of finding the perfect gift for Lila Shawcross-the band’s manager- and the other members of the band. Told from dual close third person perspectives (Lila and Nick) GIFTED is a sweet story line that follows Nick and Lila several days after the events and cliff hanger ending of SHATTERED wherein Nick is unaware of the events that transpired to push Lila in another direction. Nick’s gift to Lila will play an intricate role in tying Lila to his heart-a string of pearls that is representative of their relationship.

All the members of the band Oblivion play secondary and supporting roles; there is a new introduction to the Oblivion family; and Lila leaves Nick to believe in a future with the woman that he loves. The $ex scenes are erotic and inventive.

ABOUT THE BOOK: May 12, 2015

Only one woman has ever refused him…and she’s the only one he wants.

Now that he’s successful beyond his wildest dreams with his band Oblivion, Simon Kagan is happy to enjoy his all-access pass to the groupie train. After getting more fists in the ribs than hugs growing up, he discovers having a warm female in his bed is an easy way to escape the loneliness.

Until Margo.

From the moment the classy, buttoned up violinist entered his sphere, he knew she was different. After one amazing night in the studio, he feels like he’s finally connected with someone on a deeper level—only to have her walk away without a backward glance.

As a member of the Boston Symphony orchestra, Margo Reece’s life revolves around the regimented structure of a second chair violinist. But Simon’s uncanny ability to crawl into a song and create a smoky, sin-filled experience translated into the hottest night of her life. She walked away afterward because that’s what she was supposed to do.

And Margo always does what she’s supposed to.

Until Simon.

When she’s called on again to blend her sound with Oblivion’s, she has to make the decision to play it safe or let her wild side free. Especially when her first meeting with Simon shows that sometimes rigidly contained passions create the most dangerous sparks…

••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: DESTROYED is the third full length installment in Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott’s contemporary, new adult LOST IN OBLIVION erotic romance rock series focusing on the members of the rock band Oblivion. This is lead singer and front man Simon Kagan, and classical violinist Margo Reece’s storyline-a second chance for two people who never forgot the one that got away.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Simon and Margo) DESTROYED follows the rebuilding of a relationship; a friendship between Simon and Margo that was all but destroyed following a one night stand wherein Margo walked away without a backwards glance. What ensues is sexually tense and continuously toxic confrontations between our leading couple. From name calling to disgust, Margo and Simon have issues whenever either one is in the same room with the other. Margo is about to head out on tour, to accompany the band on stage, and in this neither Simon or Nick are thrilled with the prospect: Nick doesn’t like change and Simon’s attraction to Margo finds our leading singer in a precarious predicament.

The relationship between Margo and Simon is fraught with bitter memories of their one night together. Margo wanted Simon but walked away knowing that Simon would never settle for one woman, and Simon found himself wondering where it all went wrong. Fast forward several months and Simon has tried to forget Margo and her curvaceous body. Our hero’s reputation as a manwhore is not without some disappointing moments. Sex and alcohol are Simon’s vises-he is a sexual beast both on and off the stage. Coming face to face with his past finds Simon’s aggression towards Margo amplified by the return of a former bandmate. The $ex scenes are graphic, intense, dramatic, sometimes combative, and bold. The sexual tension is palpable but their tug –o-war, and cat and mouse games of ‘want you/want you not’ was frustrating. The back and forth was continuous; I felt the romance was missing-it was all about the $ex and in this the love connection was almost non existent. At this point I never thought I would see Simon Kagan settle down.

LOST IN OBLIVION is an ensemble series. All of the previous storylines characters and members of the band play a secondary and supporting role throughout the novel. Jazz and Harper’s pregnancies have advanced wherein Gray and Deacon have just about lost their minds as it pertains to the impending births of their first born children. The band’s popularity has made OBLIVION a star on the rock and roll circuit; and Snake comes back looking for his piece of the pie.

DESTROYED does not end with a happily ever after but a cliffhanger that will focus on Simon’s future and the band’s past. Lost in Oblivion is gritty, graphic and not without some controversial moments but it is a series about rock and roll, and the lifestyle that is conducive to controversy and trouble-sex, drugs, alcohol, infighting with the band, and of course, their public image and private lives. I am a fan of Quinn and Elliott’s LOST IN OBLIVION series, but not a fan of the drawn out, back and forth between a couple whose need for one another is dangerous and dark. I want some romance in my romance storylines but the gritty reality of fame pushes love and romance down the list of priorities and wants.

ABOUT THE BOOK: RELEASE DATE February 12, 2015

Falling in love was easy…figuring out the rhythm of being a couple, not so much.

Now that they’ve pressed play, life is going way too fast for Gray Duffy and Jazz Edwards. A super hot video has boosted their band Oblivion’s popularity even higher, and suddenly Gray and Jazz are the reigning prince and princess of rock. But as their private wedding ceremony in their most special place approaches, they realize they can’t go forward without facing their roots.

With new family members coming into the mix and old unresolved dramas coming to a head, one thing is for sure—the harder they rock, the bigger the drop.

••••••••••••

REVIEW: UNTWISTED is the latest novella in Cari Quinn’s and Taryn Elliott’s contemporary, adult LOST IN OBLIVION erotic romance series focusing on the members of the rock back Lost in Oblivion. UNTWISTED is Jazz Edwards and Gray Duffy’s continuing story.

Planning a surprise wedding for he and Jazz, Gray didn’t count on Jazz’s estranged seventeen year old half sister showing up in the mix. When Jazz got a letter a few days earlier from Molly, asking if they could meet, it was all Gray could do not to surmise that Molly wanted money based on the timing and the media information. And true to his assumptions, Molly was everything and more that Gray had suspected-now if he could only convince Molly to walk away and never look back.

The storyline follows Jazz and Gray in the few days prior to their ‘surprise’ wedding. Jazz wants to meet her long lost sister and Gray wants nothing more than to marry the woman that he loves. Things go from bad to worse when Jazz walks away after hearing the truth behind Molly’s attempt to reconcile and Gray’s attempts to get Molly out of their life.

The $ex scenes are seductive, provocative and a little bit exploratory-Jazz and Gray’s hotel offers a married couple’s kink package !!

The world building continues to follow LOST IN OBLIVION as they work on their next album; Gray’s foray into writing and mixing it up with another band; and the need to provide a stable environment for the next generation.

UNTWISTED is a storyline that adds a new dimension to Jazz and Gray’s relationship- a sister from the past who is no longer the baby girl Jazz remembers. All of the previous storyline couples and members of the band are present as well as Gray’s mother who is beginning to accept the choices Gray has made in his life.

Once again, Cari and Taryn get up close and personal with the members of the band; their loves; and the people in their lives.

Izzy’s BFF and book store co-owner Nichole (and her husband Adam) become Izzy’s sole source of support during Logan’s absence and his time on the road. ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 29, 2014

He’s always saved her. Now she’s going to return the favor…

Gray Duffy never thought he’d end up as the co-lead guitarist of Oblivion, one of the hottest rock bands in the country. Even better? He’s sharing the experience with his best friend, Jazz. Since the day she’d showed up as his family’s new foster kid, Gray has protected her. Loved her. And not just platonically either. After all these years of wanting her in his bed, he still doesn’t know what it would be like to have her mouth on his.

Except for that one time. The time he’d shared her with Nick. The best worst night of his life.

Now they’re living their dream. They’re making music together and spending every waking moment trapped in tight quarters. With success at their fingertips, the time is right for him to finally make his move toward the woman he needs.

He just never figured he would lose control. Or that she would find out.

They’ve loved each other through everything. But what if this time love just isn’t enough?

•••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: TWISTED is the second full length storyline in Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott’s Lost in Oblivion series focusing on the members of the rock band Oblivion. This is drummer Jasmine (Jazz) Edwards and guitarist Gray Duffy’s storyline-a friends to lovers trope that looks at second chances and forgiveness. TWISTED can be read as a stand alone but for background information, the band’s beginnings and cohesion I would strongly suggest reading in order.

Told from third person point of view alternating between past and present TWISTED follows the introduction between fourteen year old foster child Jasmine Edwards and Grayson Duffy-the young man who would one day break her heart-to present day. Jasmine grew up in foster care and at fourteen found herself living with the Duffy’s. Long story short, Gray and Jazz were attracted to one another immediately with Gray playing the protector and big brother to Jazz’s fragile ego. But a caustic and dangerous moment in time found an eighteen year old Jazz on the run, leaving Gray heartbroken and lost. Two years would pass before Jazz reconnected with the Gray and Gray was a changed man. Now that both were members of the up and coming rock band Oblivion, Gray’s life will begin to spiral out of control following a night he will never forget between Nick, Jazz and himself.

TWISTED is a storyline that follows present day with the rock band Oblivion alternating with a story about the past. Jazz never had an easy life and thought she had found a loving family with the Duffy’s but like many families there is a dark and dangerous side, one that Jazz would experience first hand. Even with Gray’s love and protection, Jazz would find herself alone again, on the run, with no one to care. While the members of Oblivion find themselves in lock down to get over their attitude and destructive egos, Jazz and Gray will take the next step in their relationship. The realization that Gray is falling deeper into addiction and despair comes with a darker threat against the woman that he loves.

All of the members of Oblivion (Simon, Nick, Deacon and Harper) including new PR manager Lila play an active role throughout the premise of TWISTED. As manager, Lila is the one who will have to take control when the band begins to implode and slowly destroy what is left of their image. Social media, addiction, inflated egos and revenge will take center stage for a band on the cusp of making it big.

Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott pull from the reality that is the rock and roll lifestyle. There is betrayal, jealousy, excess and love. Everyone will be affected by the fall out of one night of passion between three friends, resulting in a tense relationship between the members of the band. LOST IN OBLIVION is an intense, dramatic and addicting series with moments of passion, heartbreak and erotic imagery.

Loving in fast forward…

Love on the fast track has been the definition of Harper and Deacon McCoy’s relationship. In between studio sessions with Deacon’s band, Oblivion, and building a new clientele for Harper’s catering business, the newlyweds haven’t had time to sleep let alone have a honeymoon.

Deacon convinces Harper that they need a week alone together before her business as well as a new album and tour swallows them whole. Since Texas has always held special meaning for them, they head to Galveston to recharge and remember what it’s like to just be a couple.

A beachfront cottage, hours of alone time, and plenty of skin on skin action is just what the rock star ordered. Until the future once again comes much quicker than they expected, threatening to crumble not only their perfect honeymoon but also their brand new marriage.

REVIEW: ROCK, RATTLE AND ROLL is the latest novella in Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott’s contemporary, adult, Lost in Oblivion erotic romance series focusing on the band members of the rock band Oblivion. This is the continuing story of Harper Pruitt and bass guitarist Deacon McCoy.

The premise follows Harper and Deacon as they set out on their delayed honeymoon. Harper’s catering business leaves little time for her new husband and Deacon is a man who knows life on the road is about to get much busier.

The continuing relationship between Harper and Deacon is one of sensuality, steamy sex and arousal. There is no stopping Harper while on her honeymoon-her libido is in overdrive and there can only be one explanation-one that she isn’t too happy to find out.

ROCK, RATTLE AND ROLL is a realistic look at two people unprepared for everything life has to offer. Quinn and Elliott pull the reader into a seductive, provocative and emotional storyline. There are moments of intense pleasure and intense anxiety, but through it all Deacon McCoy is a man who loves Harper Pruitt above everything else.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 9, 2014

Love definitely wasn’t on the setlist.

Opening for their idols on their first tour, Oblivion is living the dream. Mostly. Frustrated at being shoved out of his mediator role by their new manager, Deacon McCoy loses himself in brutal workouts. He only comes up for air long enough to refuel—and to tease the deliciously cute chef who makes him crave a lot more than what she’s offering on her serving plate.

As the child of roadie parents, Harper Pruitt has heard every pickup line twice. To her, musicians are one step above the scraps on her cutting board. All she wants is to get enough experience to run her own catering company, but Deacon and his bottomless stomach are too tempting to resist. He’s far from the typical rock star and before long, she finds herself experimenting with him, inside and out of the kitchen.

Apron – and panties – optional.

When Harper sees that Deacon’s dream band with his best friends may be turning into a nightmare, she can’t walk away. Deacon’s so much more than just a peacemaker and the man behind the bass. But she has her own dreams to chase…even if she’s starting to think what she’s building with him might be the biggest one of all.

REVIEW: ROCKED is the second storyline in Taryn Elliott and Cari Quinn’s contemporary, new adult, erotic Lost in Oblivion rock star series focusing on the members of the rock band Oblivion. This is bass guitarist Deacon McCoy and chef Harper Pruitt’s storyline. We were first introduced to Deacon in the introductory storyline Seduced (Lost in Oblivion .5). Deacon is the peace maker, the body builder and the most stable member of Oblivion.

The focus of the storyline is the building relationship between Deacon and Harper. Harper grew up the child of two roadies and knows the ins and outs of the business. Getting involved with Deacon McCoy is the last thing on her mind because she knows she will be one of many stops along the tour. But Harper has been hired as a chef for the five weeks of Oblivion’s tour and saying no gets harder every time Deacon is near.

The relationship between Deacon and Harper is hot, sensual and a little bit risqué. Finding time alone is difficult when both Deacon and Harper are bunking on separate buses and there is always a crowd around to listen and watch. Harper knows that their time together is limited but Deacon wants more from Harper than she is willing to give. Her career as a chef has just begun and another job offer will force Harper to make a decision that will affect their future and their relationship.

The world building continues from SEDUCED where the members of the band were first introduced in a gritty storyline of sex, drugs and rock and roll. Oblivion is about to sign a one record deal but the contract is anything but fair. We watch as the group begins to fall apart from betrayal, lies and the return of a former band mate. Add a woman who isn’t afraid to speak her mind, and the members of the group will begin to take sides against one another.

ROCKED is a revealing story about the life and love of a rock star. The reader is pulled into a no nonsense story about life on the road, behind the scenes and in the public eye for an up and coming band. Told from close third person point of view, the first half of the storyline was slow to build as Harper and Deacon played around one another but as the relationship turned more personal and sexual, there was no turning back for the characters or the reader.

Rocked
Book 1 Lost in Oblivion
by Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott
Release Date: September 2013

RockedOnstage he’s Demon, the unsurpassable bassist.

Offstage he’s the Peacemaker, the mastermind who keeps his volatile band from imploding.

Opening for their idols on their first ever tour, Oblivion is living the dream. That dream becomes a nightmare when Oblivion draws more attention than the headliner and egos clash. Frustrated at being shoved out of his mediator role by their new manager, Deacon McCoy loses himself in brutal workouts only coming up for air long enough to refuel—and that means hunting down the catering truck at odd hours.

Especially the deliciously cute chef who excites his taste buds as much as his body.

The child of roadie parents, Harper Pruitt has heard every pickup line twice. To her, musicians are one step above the scraps on her cutting board. All she wants is to get enough experience to run her own catering company, but Deacon and his bottomless and surprisingly gourmet stomach is too tempting to resist. Before long, she finds herself wanting to experiment with him outside the kitchen.

When Harper sees that Deacon’s sense of responsibility is doing him serious damage, she realizes he’s far from the typical rock star. But as the band’s fame grows, she wonders if she can love a man who doesn’t know how to let anyone in—even her.

I’m from the great state of New York–upstate NY, thank you very much. My family consists of a brother who takes care of keeping the snarky side of me alive and a dog that is more spoiled child than mutt. My writer-friends are the glue that keeps my crazy ideas more in the sane category, and my non-writerly friends are the reason I’m not a complete hermit. I can’t go a day without laughing and I truly do fall in love with each and every one of my leading men as I write their book. Music is life and every story has its own soundtrack.
