ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 26, 2021
Jack Watson doesn’t want anything to do with the dating scene in Painted Barrel, Wyoming, but when his sister-in-law guilt him into joining a bachelor auction, Jack can’t say no to a charity event. He’s not totally heartless. And if all the winner wants is an extra ranch hand for a few days, he can do that. Of course, Jack changes his mind as soon as he meets the winner, shy Layla.
As the local accountant, Layla isn’t used to being noticed by men. She’s sure not the type to bid on a bachelor. But when she tells her mom she’s bidding on someone she has a crush on–and her mom shows up to check–she has no choice but to offer for the gruff cowboy. It’s for a good cause after all…
Neither one of them thought the auction would be a success. But Layla finds it hard to keep her hands off the cowboy, and Jack falls for her sweet smile and wild sense of humor. True love should run smoothly, right? Except Layla’s got a secret, and Jack’s right in the line of fire. Does she risk everything for her Valentine cowboy or does she betray those closest to her?

REVIEW:THE BACHELOR COWBOY is the sixth instalment in Jessica Clare’s contemporary, adult THE WYOMING COWBOY erotic, romance series focusing on the people who live and work in Painted Barrel, Wyoming. This is CPP accountant Layla Schmidt, and rancher Jack Watson’s story line. THE BACHELOR COWBOY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
SOME BACKGROUND: Months earlier Jack, and his brothers Caleb and Hank moved to Painted Barrel, Wyoming from Alaska to help their Uncle Ennis during calving season. Inexperienced in the ways of city living, women and real life the brothers find themselves falling in love in Painted Barrel, Wyoming.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Layla and Jack) THE BACHELOR COWBOY follows in the aftermath of a charity auction where Layla is ‘tasked’ by her friends with bidding on local rancher Jack Watson, an auction meant to raise funds for a much needed animal shelter. With the winning bid, not to be outdone by her narcissistic mother Janet, Layla finds herself struggling with the inevitable rejection of the man she ‘purchased’ at her friend’s request but Layla is surprised to discover that Jack has much more than a passing and professional interest in our story line heroine-Jack has been eyeing Layla Schmidt for quite some time. As our couple make good on their charity auction date, Layla finds herself falling for a man she believes is out of her league. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Layla and Jack, and the potential fall-out as betrayal threatens to destroy their future before it begins.
The relationship between Jack and Layla is one of immediate attraction but Layla has battle with issues of low self-esteem, most of her life, brought on by her narcissistic mother, and her need to tear down our heroine, at every opportunity. Jack Watson has never wanted anyone more than he wants Layla Schmidt, but first Jack plans on setting down roots, buying some land for their future plans. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are reintroduced to Jack’s brothers and their significant others : Becca and Hank (The Cowboy Meets His Match #4), Amy and Caleb (Her Christmas Cowboy #5): uncle Ennis; feisty but struggling senior Cora, and Layla’s mother Janet.
THE BACHELOR COWBOY is a story of family and friendships, betrayal and lies. The character driven premise is inviting and engaging; the romance is sensitive – the sexual attraction is palpable and real; the characters are sassy, quirky and energetic.

Jill Myles has been an incurable romantic since childhood. She reads all the ‘naughty parts’ of books first, looks for a dirty joke in just about everything, and thinks to this day that the Little House on the Prairie books should have been steamier.
After devouring hundreds of paperback romances, mythology books, and archaeological tomes, she decided to write a few books of her own – stories with a wild adventure, sharp banter, and lots of super-sexy situations. She prefers her heroes alpha and half-dressed, her heroines witty, and she loves nothing more than watching them overcome adversity to fall into bed together.
