This is romance author Vanessa Ellington, and security operative Hawke Turner’s story line. THE MAVERICK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Hawke and Vanessa) THE MAVERICK focuses on the protection of author Vanessa Ellington. Vanessa has a stalker, someone who has broken into her home, and left cryptic messages for our heroine to find. A call to Hawke Turner at Silver Spur Security finds Vanessa on lock down against her wishes. Hawke is desperate to protect the woman he once loved, while Vanessa continues to push all of our hero’s buttons. Hawke demands order, and Vanessa refuses the protection Hawke puts in place. As the threats against Vanessa become more personal, Hawke suspects the stalker maybe someone close.
The world building focuses on Hawke’s need to protect our story line heroine. Someone has gained access to Vanessa’s life, and her computer , and whomever it is, is determined rewrite her story.
The relationship between Hawke and Vanessa is one of second chances. Two years earlier, issues of trust and misunderstanding tore our couple apart but Vanessa has never stopped loving the man who had the ability to destroy her heart.
