REVIEW:TAKE A CHANCE WITH ME is the fifth instalment in Kristen Proby’s contemporary, adult THE O’CALLAGHANS erotic, romance series, a part of the author’s numerous interconnected series ( With Me in Seattle, With Me In Seattle Mafia). This is thirty-six year old, IT specialist/computer hacker Cameron Cox, and twenty-six year old, widow, waitress/singer Maggie O’Callaghan’s story line. TAKE A CHANCE WITH ME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Cameron and Maggie) TAKE A CHANCE WITH ME follows the second chance romance between thirty-six year old, IT specialist/computer hacker Cameron Cox, and twenty-six year old, widow waitress/singer Maggie O’Callaghan. Two years earlier, Maggie O’Callaghan attempted to seduce her brother’s best friend Cameron Cox, but a phone call pulled Cameron out of her life, leaving our heroine wondering where everything went wrong. Fast forward to present day, wherein, Maggie would reconnect with the man she could never forget, the man who broke her heart two years earlier. With a promise of something more, Cameron reveals he has always wanted our story line heroine, the woman with whom he would fall in love but Cameron’s job is classified, and secrets revealed tear at the heart of Maggie O’Callaghan, all over again. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Maggie and Cameron, and the potential fall-out as Maggies struggles to forgive Cameron for a perceived betrayal, a betrayal that hits Maggie too close to home.

Maggie O’Callaghan knows betrayal first hand having lived through a loveless marriage where her husband’s secrets revealed a long history of deception and lies. Information will come to light that sends Maggie and Cameron looking deeper into the past, a past that refuses to lie down and go away. Cameron Cox has loved Maggie O’Callaghan for as long as he can remember but his job sent him all over the world, and his close ties to Maggie were about to upset the people in charge.

The relationship between Maggie and Cameron is a best friend’s young sister/rekindling romance between two people who have loved one another from afar. Maggie struggles to move on from the failure of her marriage, and the secrets that slowly reveal a man she never really knew. Cameron is unable to acknowledge the depth of his employment, and in this, issues of trust continue to be at the forefront of his relationship with our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar secondary and supporting characters including all of Maggie’s siblings, as well as the their parents Tom and Fiona O’Callaghan.

TAKE A CHANCE WITH ME is a story of family and relationships, acceptance and love; understanding and trust. The premise is spirited and encouraging ; the characters are emotional and enthusiastic; the romance is captivating and sensual.
