REVIEW: DIESEL is the fourth instalment in Jessica Ames’ contemporary, adult UNTAMED SONS MC: BIRMINGHAM dark, erotic, MC romance series, a spin off set in the author’s UNTAMED SONS MC worlds. This is Zane aka Diesel, and Makenna’s story line. DIESEL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Diesel and Makenna) DIESEL follows in the wake of the retrieval of our story line heroine. Makenna and Diesel grew up in the child welfare system, a system that was brutal and abusive for our story line couple. Makenna and Diesel fell in love, married one another but Deisel found himself in need of help, and joined the Untamed Sons MC, keeping his marriage to Makenna a secret from the men who would become his family. Fast forward to present day, Makenna is no longer happy with Diesel’s lifestyle and the MC, believing she remains his dirty little secret, a secret that is about to come full circle when the MC come looking for our story line hero. All is not well within the Untamed Sons MC, there is a fight for power, and anyone standing in the way is permanently removed.

The world building focuses on the struggling relationship between our story line couple as Diesel must prove his allegiance to the MC. Refusing to be tied down, Diesel (Zane) is desperate to protect the woman he is trying to hide but threats from within the MC force Diesel to take the next step to save the woman he loves.

The relationship between Diesel (Zane) and Makenna is one of best friends to lovers to married but in an effort to protect our story line heroine, Makenna remains behind the scenes, as Zane fears her life to be forfeit in the oncoming war. Makenna is tired of being left behind, and in this, our heroine decides it is time to cut the ties to the man whom she loves. The $ex scenes are limited but intimate and aggressive.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and questionable secondary and supporting characters including several members of the Untamed Sons MC: Birmingham and their spouses. The requisite evil has many faces.

DIESEL is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, family and friendships, relationships and love. The fast paced premise is heart breaking, dramatic and edgy; the romance is limited; the characters are dynamic and desperate.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Dash and Dayna) DASH follows several paths including the dysfunctional relationship between Dayna Harrington and her mother Evelyn; Dash and Dayna’s relationship as Dayna must learn to trust that she is worthy, and the impending war within the Untamed Sons MC: Birmingham-someone is taking aim at the brotherhood but the man in charge refuses to protect the people he had sworn to serve.Dayna Harrington is struggling on her own but the alternative is a life from which she walked away. Falling for Rhys ‘Dash’ Maddox meant an internal battle to keep her independence but all that changed when she discovered she was pregnant, and that man with whom she was falling in love, had a target painted on his back.

The world building follows Dash and the Untamed Sons MC, as they struggle with a fight for power and control, a fight that will pull Dash into a fight for his life, as he struggles to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love. Meanwhile, Dayna’s battle to free herself from her mother’s control, begins to spiral, as Evelyn Harrington strikes back, forcing our couple to take a stand.

The relationship between Dayna and Dash begins as a one-night stand but Dash is hoping for something more, and Dayna struggles to accept that Dash is willing to accept her as damaged as she feels. As their relationship continues to grow, Dayna quickly discovers that family is not necessarily blood, but the people who accept you for who you are. The $ex scenes are provocative and passionate.

The secondary and supporting characters are familiar and energetic including the return of Mace and Maylie (Mace #1), Ivy and Riot (Riot #2), SAA Nicky, King, Blade, Diesel, Crank and Grub, as well as the introduction of Dayna’s mother Evelyn Harrington.

DASH is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, dysfunctional family and relationships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is fast paced, intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are desperate and determined.

As a new mother, Ivy is battling the demons that destroyed her world but her daughter’s well being and protection is paramount for our story line heroine but Ivy’s sisters Maylie, her ol’man Mace, and Riot are keeping secrets from our story line heroine, secrets that are causing more harm than good. As the demons from her past continue to haunt, Ivy struggles to move forward, even with the help of our story line hero.

The world building follows several paths including Mace and Maylie’s personal battles; Ivy’s struggle to let go of the past, a past in which Maylie, Mace and Riot have done our heroine no favors keeping the secrets that continue to control her life.; and the ongoing dilemma and embattled hierarchy at the Untamed Sons MC: Birmingham chapter.

The relationship between Ivy and Riot is one of protector and friends. Riot has declared himself guardian and protector of Ivy and her daughter Seren, a protector who is slowly falling in love with the woman who claims to be unworthy of love. The lone $ex scene is impassioned.

The secondary and supporting characters include the return of Mace and Maylie (Mace #1), Maylie and Ivy’s brother Toby; former school mate Jackson, several of Ivy’s friends, and club members Dash, Nicky, King and Blade.

RIOT is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, struggle and loss, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is dramatic and edgy; the characters are broken and haunted; the romance is limited but the sexual chemistry is tight.
