REVIEW: UNWANTED MATE is the fourth novella in Jade Marshall’s contemporary, adult KATU WOLVES erotic, paranormal romance series. This is twenty year old she-wolf Sapphire, and wolf shifter Marc’s story line. UNWANTED MATE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Sapphire and Marc) UNWANTED MATE is a rebuilding relationship between twenty year old she-wolf Sapphire, and wolf shifter Marc. All of her life Sapphire has been bullied by Marc but five years ago, Sapphire and her brother Ezra’s lives were uprooted when their parents went in search of something else. Now, with the death of their mother and father, Ezra wants to return to the pack, a pack that hold nothing but bad memories for our story line heroine. With her return comes the knowledge that her fated mate is near, a mate who has harassed her for most of her life. Enter Marc. What ensues is the rebuilding friendship and relationship between Marc and Sapphire, and the potential fall-out as Sapphire must come to terms with Marc’s past, a past that continues to haunt our story line couple

The relationship between Marc and Sapphire is one of second chances; a rekindling friendship broken by Marc’s years of bullying our story line heroine. Marc and Sapphire know immediately that each is the other’s mate but Sapphire struggles with the hurtful words and broken heart so long ago. The lone $ex scene is passionate and intense.

We are reintroduced to several of the previous story line couples, she-wolf shifter Keelan, as well as Sapphire’s brother Ezra.

UNWANTED MATE is a quick read; a story of regret and forgiveness, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is engaging- the conflict resolution is hurried-I was hoping for a little more angst and delay but such is the nature of a novella length story ; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic and lost. UNWANTED MATE ends on a bit of a cliff-hanger-you have been warned.
