REVIEW:SAVE ME is the second instalment in Vi Carter’s contemporary, new adult BROKEN PEOPLE dark, erotic, romance duet focusing on nineteen year olds Jared McGivney and Layla Masters. SAVE ME can not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book one DECEIVE ME. There is a slight cross over with the author’s Young Irish Rebels/ Wild Irish series.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise there may be triggers for more sensitive readers. If you have not read book one there may be spoilers in my review.

SOME BACKGROUND: Jared and Layla met and grew up in the foster care system, a system that let down our story line couple. Seven years earlier, following a catastrophic injury, twelve year old, Layla disappeared, leaving Jared to fight the system, and their abusers, on his own.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jared and Layla) SAVE ME picks up immediately after the cliff hanger of book one DECEIVE ME in which Layla is the victim of an attack that has left our heroine struggling to survive. Unable to recall the events leading up to that fateful night, Layla struggles with the confusion only to realize the young man she has always loved is keeping secrets about what happened and why. Battling between head and heart, Layla’s love for Jared never falters but his secrets and lies are threatening the tepid truce and reconciliation between our story line couple. As Jared sets a plan into motion seeking to avenge the attack on Layla Masters, ghosts from the past resurface threatening to take down the man that Layla loves.

The relationship between Layla and Jared continues to grow; a second chance love affair between two people broken by the system, destroyed by betrayal, power and control but all is not well in the McGivney household, and another betrayal is about to tear Jared apart. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Layla’s adopted parents Evelyn and Carl Masters; Jared’s father Athar McGivney, and his mother Maura; Irish Mafia son Warren O’Reagan (Young Irish Rebels series); as well as fellow students Ashley, Abby, and Caroline, and the mean girls including Jared’s ex Alex. The requisite evil have many faces.

SAVE ME is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, obsession and control, desperation, power, greed and love. The premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are struggling, broken but trying to heal. There is quite a bit going on; quite a few twists and turns, and surprising revelations but saying that I felt there were too many details missing with regards to the divulging of the truth and the past- I was hoping for more intimate specifics and particulars.

REVIEW:DECEIVE ME is the first instalment in Vi Carter’s contemporary, new adult BROKEN PEOPLE dark, erotic, romance duet focusing on nineteen year olds Jared McGivney and Layla Masters.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jared and Layla) using present day and memories from the past, DECEIVE ME follows the rebuilding relationship and friendship between nineteen year olds Jared McGivney and Layla Masters. Jared and Layla met and grew up in the foster care system, a system that let down our story line couple. Seven years earlier, following a catastrophic injury, twelve year old, Layla disappeared, leaving Jared to fight the system on his own. Fast forward to present day wherein Layla, a shadow of her former self, on her first days at Kingscourt College comes face to face with her past, the boy she once loved but a boy turned young man who is no longer the person she once knew. A target of the mean girls and bully boys, Layla tries to remain on the down low but Jared insists on taking our heroine out of her comfort zone. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship and friendship between Jared and Layla, and the potential fall-out as Jared’s past takes aim at our story line heroine.

Layla Masters has struggled in the years since losing her best friend but found a little peace in the years since. Seeing Jared brings back all sorts of memories of what happened and why but Jared’s attitude runs both hot and cold, in the face of perceived betrayal and the loss of his friend but all is not well in Jared’s personal life, and the fall-out is about to take down our story line couple.

The relationship between Jared and Layla is a second chance friendship. At twelve years old our couple were separated when Layla’s life spiralled out of control. Seven years of therapy and looking for the boy she could never forget to discover that Jared was no longer the boy she remembered. Jared has never forgotten the young girl that continues to control his heart but Jared’s life went from the proverbial frying pan into the fire, and Layla is about to pay the price. The $ex scenes are intimate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Layla’s parents Evelyn and Carl Masters; Jared’s father, as well as fellow students Ashley, Lucas and Kieran, and the mean girls. The requisite evil have many faces.

DECEIVE ME is a story of anger and rejection, secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, friendships and love. The premise is gritty and raw; the romance is seductive; the characters are broken, struggling and hurt. DECEIVE ME ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

Everything in me stills as Jay walks towards me, his face tightening the closer he gets. It transforms him from someone I used to know with dimples and light eyes, to an angry God.
“Hi.” I sound so breathless as he stops in front of me.
He glares at me and rubs his jaw before speaking. “The three days you were missing, where were you?”
He’s angry.
My throat aches again; my heart beats rapidly as I stare up into the dark abyss that wants to consume me. I need to speak, but for the first time with Jared, the words are lodged in my throat.
His large hand touches my jawline, and my eyes flick up at him. His eyes have darkened even further, and I’m not sure what has prompted him to touch me. He looks revolted by the action, yet he hasn’t let me go. When we were younger, I knew exactly what he was thinking, but right now, the unknown is scaring me.
His hand travels down to my neck, his thumb flicking back and forth, his touch burns into me. I swallow.
“Where were you…?” His words trail off as he looks at me with haunted eyes.

REVIEW:MAFIA BOSS is the fourth instlament in Vi Carter’s contemporary, adult YOUNG IRISH REBELS dark, erotic, Mafia series. This is Mafia King Cillian O’Hara, and Irish Mafia princess Dana O’Reagan’s story line. MAFIA BOSS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but for backstory and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order.

WARNING: Due to the graphic nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person persepctives (Dana and Cillian) MAFIA BOSS follows the building relationship between Mafia King Cillian O’Hara, and Irish Mafia princess Dana O’Reagan. All is not well within between the families controlling the Irish Mafia. With threats against his family, Liam O’Reagan enlists the help of Cillian O’Hara, with the protection of his daughter Dana O’Reagan but Cillian’s at war with his own family, and Dana is about to pay the price for sins of the past. Struggling to remain neutral in the face of their growing attraction, Cillian finds himself pushing the boundaries between protector and jailer, as our heroine battles between head and heart in the wake of discovering the truth and deceit about her family and friends. What ensues is the building but tempestuous relationship between Dana and Cillian, and the potential fall-out as our heroine becomes payment for a debt owed, a debt she is about to pay with her life.

Cillian O’Hara doesn’t do favors but our ‘hero’ is desperate to find someone he loves. When Liam O’Reagan demands payment for his help, Cillian struggles with the lies and deceit that are about to destroy his world. Dana O’Reagan had no idea as to her familial connections to the Irish mob, a connection that places our heroine in the direct line of fire. Secrets reveal the truth extent of the lies and betrayal forced upon our heroine by the people she loved, lies that have now claimed Dana as fodder in a war between the Mafia and the Russian Bratva.

The relationship between Dana and Cillian begins as an exchange of duty, an exchange in which Cillian believes he is on the end of a losing battle. His attraction to Dana is forbidden; his only goal is to find the one person that held his heart, a heart he is quickly losing to our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters many of whom we have met in previous instalments including Dana’s brothers Richard and Jack, and their father Liam O’Reagan; their cousin Shay, Lucian Sheahan, several members of the Irish Mafia ‘Jaguars’, and Edward Skinner.

Once again, the world building reveals the brutality, vengeance, power and control of the Irish mob that pits brother against brother, father against son wherein wives and daughters are but fodder to control.

MAFIA BOSS is a story of secrets and lies, authority and rule, betrayal and revenge. The premise is dark, gritty and raw; the characters are dangerous, dynamic, and cruel; the romance is provocative yet flawed.

REVIEW:MAFIA GAMES is the third instalment in Vi Carter’s contemporary, adult YOUNG IRISH REBELS erotic, dark, Irish Mafia, romance series-a spin off from the author’s WILD IRISH series. This is Irish Mafia King Richard O’Reagan, and Claire O’Reilly’s storyline . MAFIA KING can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Young Irish Rebels focuses on, and introduces the next generation in the Irish Mafia

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line content including graphic violence, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

SOME BACKGROUND: The Irish Mafia rule the four-corners of compass in Ireland, with a member from the O’Reagan family controlling each sector but Liam O’Reagan, head of the Irish Mafia is demanding allegiance but in doing so begins to pit brother against brother for control of power.

Told from dual first person perspectives Claire and Richard, MAFIA GAMES follows the return of Irish Mafia King/heir Richard O’Reagan. Richard has been ‘missing’ for close to three years, and with his return comes a need for revenge. His first target is a young woman named Claire O’Reilly, a woman who finds herself a prisoner in a glass box, where she is witness to all kinds of blood shed and atrocities. Claire has no idea why she is held a prisoner in a glass cage but once secrets are revealed we slowly learn some of what happened to Richard, while he was away. Meanwhile, Richard needs to regain power over the people he once controlled but his father, Liam, continues to stand in his way. What ensues is the building relationship between Richard and Claire, and the potential fall out as obsession and betrayal threaten the lives of our story line couple.

Richard O’Reagan knows betrayal first hand, and in this, he has hardened himself to the reality that is now his life. Needing control, Richards begins to target everyone that has destroyed his life, even if it means, destroying the people standing in his way. Never expecting to fall for our story line heroine, Richard quickly discovers that falling in love can make a man weak, weakness that can be used to gain power and control. Claire has lost everything including the family she once loved but when her captor refuses to acknowledge the reasons why, Claire refuses to play the game, willing to die before anyone else can win.

The relationship between Claire and Richard begins when Richard takes Claire prisoner upon his return. Having prepared for Claire’s arrival for close to a year, Richard sets into motion a series of events and revenge, beginning with the men that all but destroyed his life, leaving the one man he knows to be his ultimate target. Falling for Claire has placed a target on our heroine’s back, a target fed by more betrayal and pain. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Richard’s brother Jack, sister Dana, their father Liam, Uncle Finn, and their cousin Shay (all of whom we met in the previous storylines); Richard’s right hand man Davy, and Cillian O’Hara. The requisite evil has many faces.

MAFIA GAMES continues to get up close and personal with the power and control of the Irish Mafia. No one can be trusted including family and friends, and in this the series pursues a number of twist and turns, with more questions than answers as it pertains to who can be trusted, and who may be about to die.

MAFIA GAMES is a dark and gritty story of betrayal and vengeance, actions and consequences, trust, destruction, hope and love. The premise is dramatic, raw and haunting; the romance energetic and provocative; the characters are edgy, energetic, broken and lost. MAFIA GAMES ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

His words should drive fear into my heart. “I can’t let you go.” They don’t. They pump hope into my system, and I get out of the bed.

I grip the edge of the mattress and wait for the dizziness to pass before picking up my discarded black coloured pencil. I move to the center of the room and sit down and start to draw.

No matter how afraid I am, I had to try to win him over. He had said he couldn’t let me out. I had to give him a reason to free me. With that thought, I draw his face on the floor of my glass cage.

REVIEW: MAFIA KING is the second instalment in Vi Carter’s contemporary, adult YOUNG IRISH REBELS erotic, dark, Irish Mafia romance series. This is Shay O’Reagan, and Emma Murphy’s story line. MAFIA KING can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line content including graphic violence, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Shay and Emma) MAFIA KING follows the arranged marriage relationship between Shay O’Reagan, and Emma Murphy. Shay O’Reagan is about to take his place as King in the East as part of the Mafia rule of Ireland but to seal the deal Shay is forced into an arranged marriage with Mafia princess Emma Murphy whose father is a King in the South but all does not go according to plan as deals made behind the scenes threaten the life of our story line heroine, deals meant to secure more power for everyone concerned. But the death of Shay’s brother in an illegal underground fighting arena has Shay focusing on revenge against the people involved, revenge that splits Shay’s attention placing Emma in the direct line of fire. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship between Emma and Shay, and the potential fall-out as promises made threaten any chance of a happily ever after for our story line couple.

Emma Murphy had no idea that her life was about to implode. Believing she was betrothed Shay’s brother Jack, our heroine is blind sided when a deal is made for her to marry Jack’s brother Shay. Refusing to accept her fate, Emma is miserable and attempts to make Shay’s life miserable any way she is able. Shay was already a King in the North but an opening elsewhere meant marrying Emma Murphy would secure his place as the King in the East but Shay found himself falling for the immature but feisty Emma Murphy, a woman who would become a pawn in a much larger game of power and control.

The relationship between Shay and Emma is an arranged marriage. Their immediate attraction to one another is cooled by Emma’s hostility and immaturity, as well as Shay’s need to gain control of the people taking aim at both himself and the woman with whom he will fall in love. On the run, trying to stay one step ahead of the people in charge, Emma finds herself falling for a man who is willing to die to protect the people he loves. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense.

We are introduced to Shay’s parents Liam and Ava O’Reagan, as well as his brother Jack; Emma’s father Red Murphy, and her brothers Noel, Mark, and James; IRA Chief Commandant Lucian Sheahan; Underground match arranger Amanda.

MAFIA KING is a story of family and relationships, power and control. The premise is dramatic, dark and gritty; the romance is energetic, sizzling yet aggressive; the characters are stubborn and spirited.

Yet, her green eyes hold an innocence that tempts me. Right behind it, I see intelligence; she’s analyzing things. But most of all, right now, she’s pissing me off to no end. She needs to learn who’s King here.

I grin at her, and her earlier smugness dies as I leave the kitchen and make my way upstairs, taking the steps two at a time. All her luggage is piled up in the middle of the floor where she left it last night. I grab the first one and open the bedroom window.

If she won’t get changed, then she has no use for her clothes.

An attraction that has only grown stronger with time.

REVIEW:MAFIA PRINCE is the first instalment in Vi Carter’s contemporary, adult YOUNG IRISH REBELS dark, erotic, Irish Mafia, romance series-a spin off from the author’s WILD IRISH series. This is heir to the East throne Jack O’Reagan, and college student Maeve Reilly’s story line. MAFIA PRINCE and the Young Irish Rebels focuses on, and introduces the next generation in the Irish Mafia.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Maeve and Jack) MAFIA PRINCE follows the acrimonious relationship between heir to the throne Jack O’Reagan, and college student Maeve Reilly. Fourteen years earlier, Maeve Reilly was best friends with Jack O’Reagan’s sister Dana but Maeve was an ‘outsider, was not a member of the Family, and therefore not a suitable playmate, and in this Maeve was pushed out of Dana’s life by the man with whom she would later fall in love. Fast forward to present day wherein, college student Maeve walks into a nightmare, and the only way to protect her family, is to face the boy, now man, who destroyed her heart. Enter Jack O’Reagan, heir to the East throne of the Irish mob. What ensues is the building but tempestuous relationship between Jack and Maeve, and the potential fall-out as Maeve is fodder, and collateral damage in a war between father and son.

Maeve Reilly’s dysfunctional family is slowly destroying itself from within. Her father left years before: her mother is an alcoholic, and her brother owes thousands of dollars to a local drug dealer. In an effort to save her mother, and the brother she loves, Maeve knows that to ask for help from the Irish mob means to give up her life, as she knows it as she becomes payment for a debt owed. Jack O’Reagan has lusted after his sister’s best friend Maeve for as long as he can remember but kicking Maeve out of Dana’s life was only one step of many in Jack’s trial to take over the family crown. It is only by coincidence that Maeve is pulled back into Jack’s life, and with it, the promise of a few nights turns into something more but Jack’s own struggle with his place in the Family is about to place Maeve in the direct line of fire.

The relationship between Jack and Maeve is an enemies to lovers, forced confinement / proximity affair when Maeve relinquishes her freedom to protect her brother and mother from further harm but Jack refuses to give up or give in, and demands more time with Maeve, in an effort to persuade the woman with whom he is falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate erotic and intense.

There is large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting character including Jack’s parents Svetlana and Liam (Merciless / Heartless-Wild Irish #4 & #5), Shane and Una (Vicious-Wild Irish #1), Connor’s son Shay (Ruthless-Wild Irish #2), Darragh (Fearless-Wild Irish 3) and his son Cian, as well as Maeve’s brother Declan, and their mother Jane.

MAFIA PRINCE is a story of family, power and control; of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, hope and love. The premise is gritty but captivating; the romance is tragic, aggressive but passionate; the characters are broken, haunted and wounded.

My heart drums too fast as I step into the office. The lush carpet under my feet makes me want to remove my boots so as not to dirty it. The door closes, and all the sound is sucked from the room; all the air is vacuumed from my lungs as I slowly look up towards a large mahogany desk, and sitting behind it is Jack O’Reagan. He’s older, angrier, but he still has the same effect on my heart.

Fury flames through my veins along with a longing that grips my throat. Every thought I have spins out of control. His crystal-blue eyes flash with a quick light before it fades. It’s like a light bulb coming on only to burn out—a flash of recognition that gets swallowed up in a tornado of hostility.

“What do you want? I’m busy.” His deep voice is like broken shards of glass, but I’m glad of it. It pulls me out of my frozen state.
