Description:
Alexis Morgan has spent the past six years devoted to turning her tiny start-up into Manhattan’s premiere wedding planning company, The Wedding Belles. Now that her business is thriving, it’s time to turn towards her much neglected personal life, and Alexis approaches her relationships like she does everything else: with a plan. Not a part of that plan is Logan Harris, the silent partner in the Belles, and the one person who’s been there for her since the very beginning. But Alexis needs someone fun, and Logan’s all business, all the time—except when a late night at the office ends with an unexpected kiss that leaves the usually cool and together Alexis reeling.

Logan has lusted after Alexis since the day he walked into the tiny Harlem apartment that used to double as her office. But the ambitious wedding planner has always been untouchable…until now. Alexis has made it clear that she’s on the dating market—and equally clear that he’s not in the running. But when Alexis finds herself in need of a date for her sister’s last minute wedding in Florida, Logan knows it’s the perfect time to show Alexis that there’s more to him than numbers and spreadsheets—and beneath the pinstripes and glasses lies a hot-blooded heartthrob. As Florida’s sultry days turn into even hotter nights, Logan’s out to convince Alexis that the fling of a lifetime could just maybe turn into forever…

Review:

To Love and to Cherish by Lauren Layne is the 3rd and final book in her Wedding Belles series.   As I read the final chapter in this series, I was sad.  I will miss this series; all the characters were great, the stories were wonderful and fun;  Lauren Layne is now on my authors I must read list. I read this book in less than a day, as I could not put it down.

To Love and to Cherish belongs to Alexis Morgan and Logan Harris, whom we have been waiting for since the start of this series.  Though at times I thought Alexis was too stubborn, and I wanted to smack her on the head, but all in all, she was a wonderful and strong heroine throughout the Wedding Belles series.   We always knew that Logan loved Alexis from the start, patiently awaiting her to realize how much he loved her.  But Alexis only saw her love for The Wedding Belles, until she was forced to attend her sister’s wedding.

It was her sister, and her soon to be husband that made Alexis want nothing to do with love, and getting hurt again.  After all, her sister’s fiancée had been her boyfriend, who dumped her for her sister.  The scars of that rejection has stayed buried deeply in Alexis’ soul for 6 years.  Logan has waited so long, and now grabs the opportunity, with help from his friends from The Wedding Belles (the ladies and their men).

What follows is a beautiful heartwarming story of Logan surprising Alexis at the wedding, and being there for her, and at the same time, showing a different side of him.  Now he was in full seduction form, and Alexis was taken by surprise.  Alexis and Logan had wonderful chemistry together, and it was great to see her open her eyes as to how much she cares about Logan.  But will she get beyond her deep scars, and admit that she is falling in love with Logan?

Once again, all three ladies and the men they love made for wonderful delightful stories.   They are sweet romances, with the wedding planners background and just simply fabulous couples that were a joy to read.  Thank you, Lauren Layne for this wonderful series.   The Wedding Belles and those fantastic ladies will be missed.

Review:

For Better or Worse by Lauren Layne is the 2nd  book in her wonderful Wedding Belles series.  I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and couldn’t wait to read this one.  Lauren Layne has proved herself to be a wonderful fun storyteller, creating another fabulous story; I loved For Better or Worse.

Heather Fowler, our heroine, loves her job as an assistant wedding planner.  Her dream is to be promoted to a wedding planner for the Wedding Belles firm, which she was determined to prove herself.  Though Brooke joined the firm as a wedding planner not too long ago, Heather wasn’t worried, as she knew Brook was great, and a new friend.  Then the chance she has been waiting for falls into her lap.  Both Alexis, the boss, and Brooke convinced Heather that this new job was perfect for her.  But the famous and wealthy bride, makes matters difficult putting pressure on Heather to create this wedding in 3 months time, an impossible task, especially with no help from the bride on decision matters.

Heather just recently moved to a luxury condo and after a few nights of not being able to sleep due to the neighbor’s late night music.  Finally, she knocks on the neighbor’s door to complain, and to her surprise she finds a hot sexy musician smiling at her.  Once Heather has control of her lust for this stranger, she yells at him to keep the music down in the middle of the night.  Turns out he practices with his band.   The fun part begins, as Josh, her neighbor and our hero, constantly flirts with her and the banter between her sarcasm and his sexual comments were pretty funny.   What follows is a friendship that at times borders on dislike and annoyance, especially on Heather side when Josh continues his sexual bantering.  While both begin to enjoy each other’s company, the heat rises between them, even when they are fighting amongst each other.  Finally, after both agree that nothing serious will come of this relationship; they succumb to their lustful feelings.

I really loved Josh and Heather together, as they were one hot steamy couple.   In the midst of their affair, Heather goes all out to try to bring this wedding to perfection.  But slowly trouble arises in paradise, as Heather knows Josh is holding some kind of secret, which he refuses to discuss.  He is also not happy with his band, and yearns to do something else, but again he will not talk about it.  They both know that their relationship is turning to love, and Heather will not push Josh; as she is content for now to be with him.

Just when the wedding planning is going well, everything will blow up; and at the same time Josh will be forced to tell Heather the truth about the issues of his past that he refuses to discuss. Will Josh stay with Heather or will he push her away?   Will Heather forgive Josh once all is known?

The final few chapters were very emotional for both Heather and Josh.  All of the family and friends were there for each of them in what was a trying time, that kept us glued to our seat.  So very well written by Layne.

This was a fun enjoyable sexy story that I refused to put down.  Both Heather and Josh were a great fun couple.  Brooke and Alexis were terrific friends and coworkers, and I love the Wedding Belles firm. I thought Lauren Layne couldn’t do better than the first book, To Have and To Hold: but For Better or Worse was equally good or even better.  If you enjoy romance, fun sexy couple, friendship, family, and laugh out loud moments, then you need to be reading this series.

Review:

To Have and to Hold by Lauren Layne is the 1st book in her new Wedding Belles series.   When I had read the prequel novella leading to this series, I knew I had to read this book.  I am happy to say I wasn’t wrong, as I loved To Have and To Hold.

We meet Brooke Baldwin, our heroine, as she arrives in New York to begin her new job as a wedding planner for The Wedding Belles.  Brooke is also running away from the her Los Angeles life, where her fiancée was arrested at the altar of her own wedding.   It seems he wasn’t the man she thought he was, as he was a con man involved in a ponzi scheme.  Though she is will happily help women plan their weddings, Brooke will not allow herself to trust or fall for any man.

Enter Seth Tyler, a wealthy hotel magnate, who decides to join his sister and her fiancée when they meet with Brooke to begin to plan the wedding.   Seth does not trust Maya’s  (his sister) fiancée, and plans to be there every step of the way, as he feels she is his responsibility after the loss of their father months ago.   Seth was early for the meeting, and Brooke at first thinks he is the groom, and is somewhat mortified that she has an immediate attraction to him.  Of course, by the time the meeting is over, both Seth and Brooke do not like each other, as they constantly trade barbs.

What follows is a romance between two people who ignore their chemistry, and have no intentions of every getting into any serious relationships.   Brooke is independent, strong, and vulnerable; Seth is used to being totally in control and doing things his way.  They clashed early on, but neither one of them can stop thinking about each other.   Seth will get Brooke to help him keep an eye on things with his sister  and report back to him, and in doing so, will try to win her over.  They were really great together, lots of fun with their bantering, and in time, their sexual chemistry was hot.  There was also the concern if Seth be able to discover if Maya’s fiancée was true blue, and if Brooke can come to terms with the man who left her at the altar.

I loved meeting the ladies of The Wedding Belles, and how quickly Brooke fit in.  They were also very supportive to her, making her life easier in her move to New York.  It is always fun to watch the prospective brides make decisions of gown, hall, etc.  I also loved the other secondary characters of this story, especially Maya and Grant.

Lauren Layne has written a fabulous story, with a wonderful couple, great secondary characters and a romance that had us rooting hard for.  I loved the premise of Wedding Belles, and look forward to the other ladies finding the man of their dreams.   Lauren Layne is now being added to my list of authors that are automatic reads.  I suggest you read To Have and to Hold.  You won’t be sorry, as  I enjoyed it so much, I read it in one day, since I could not put it down.

From This Day Forward by Lauren Layne – a Review

From This Day Forward by Lauren Layne – a Review

From This Day ForwardAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / BAM

Description:
Up-and-coming wedding photographer Leah McHale’s career is on the rise–thanks in no small part to the Wedding Belles, the elite New York wedding planning agency that always throws top-tier business Leah’s way. So when one of the Belles asks Leah to fill in at the former First Daughter’s wedding, Leah is overjoyed to say yes–until she finds out who she’ll be working with.

Jason Rhodes is the one man who was able to capture Leah’s heart and, once he had it, promptly stepped all over it and left her broken. Now he’s working side-by-side with her at the biggest wedding of the season and Leah is determined to give him the cold shoulder. Despite his persistence, she is not going to fall for his charming, impish ways again. Not even if he still has that killer, irresistible smile…

Review:

From This Day Forward by Lauren Layne is a novella that is a prequel to her new The Wedding Belles series.  Leah McHale is our heroine, and she is a wedding photographer.  Leah’s upcoming job was cancelled, and she was offered to help Wedding Belles photograph the ex president’s daughter  upcoming wedding.  Leah jumps at this chance, but when she finds out that her ex boyfriend, who is also a photographer will also work at this wedding.  Since this a high clientele wedding, the ladies who run Wedding Belles, wanted both to do the work, as each could take different areas of the wedding.

Jason Rhodes is quite a charming hunk, and he is also known as a womanizer.  A year ago, Leah, who was falling in love with Jason, found him with another woman in his home.  Leah left Jason with a broken heart, she never looked back.  Now that are both expected to work together, Leah finds it hard to control the feelings she still has for Jason.

This is a second chance romance, where Jason is determined to prove to Leah that he still loves her, and she needs to know the truth about that night a year ago.  Not everything is as it may look.

What follows is a slow rebuilding of a romance that never should have ended.  This was a sweet sexy charming novella with a very likeable couple, whom you rooted for.  It was apparent how much they truly cared about each other, but the obstacles would depend on them giving each other another chance. In the midst of this wonderful romance was the fun of preparing for the planning of this wedding.   From This Day Forward was a quick but sexy read.  Lauren Layne managed to give us a bit of everything in this novella, which was an enjoyable read.  I look forward to reading the first book in this series, To Have and To Hold, coming in July.
