ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 26, 2021.

It all started with a bet.
When my young son inherited half of his great grandfather’s historic inn, I decided to move us both to the place where I grew up.
Notice I said half of the Inn. The other half now belonged to Levi Miller, the famous quarterback who had other ideas about what we should do with the property.
We won’t mention that I accidentally injured him during our first meeting, causing him to get eight stitches.
You could say we got off on the wrong foot.
We bickered a lot as we both moved into the property while we figured things out.
He wanted to unload the rundown place which, admittedly, needed a lot of work.
I wanted to restore The Palm Inn to its original beauty and re-open it as a bed and breakfast.
We couldn’t agree on anything. So Levi made me a proposal. One he thought I would surely lose. If I could sell out the place by the time he had to leave for training at the end of summer, he would back off and let me run it.
But in the weeks that followed, we got more than we bargained for while we were living under the same roof.
Levi and I got closer, and before I knew it, my nightly fantasies about the brawny Adonis became a reality. Not to mention, he was so great with my son.
We were in over our heads in more ways than one.
Because not only was he the last man on Earth I should be falling for because of our deal, but Levi was also my ex’s older brother.
And now the inn was the least of my problems.

REVIEW: WELL PLAYED is a stand alone, contemporary, adult, erotic story line co-authored by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward focusing on single mother Presley, and professional football player Levi Miller.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Presley and Levi) WELL PLAYED focuses on the building romance and relationship between single mother Presley, and professional football player Levi Miller. With the death of his beloved grandfather, quarterback Levi Miller, and with his brother’s seven year old son Alex, inherited the family own Palm Inn but as Alex was too young to assume any responsibility, the onus fell on his mother, Presley, Levi’s brother’s ex, and the mother of his son. Hoping to turn the Palm Inn into a Bed and Breakfast, Presley begins working on reparations only to discover that Levi is hoping to sell the building, and move on with his life. Desperate to make a go of the B&B, Presley and Levi come to an agreement whereby at the end of the summer, either Presley or Levi will have gotten their way. What ensues is the building ‘forbidden’ romance and relationship between Presley and Levi, as our couple work together to set up the Inn, just in time for Levi’s brother Tanner to return home.

Levi Miller never expected to fall for his brother’s ex but working side by side pulled our couple together. Without his brother in the picture, Levi found himself both father and uncle to a young boy whose father was rarely on his radar. Presley knew to fall for Levi would mean a bigger problem for the Miller family including Levi’s mother Shelby who never knew the truth behind what happened, and was hoping for Presley and Tanner to once again, fall in love.

The relationship between Levi and Presley is a forbidden romance, a brother’s ex-girlfriend, friends to lovers arrangement that quickly merges into a triangle of love. Both Tanner and Levi are vying for Presley’s attention, and in this, our heroine struggles with her ex’s unwanted attention but refuses to reveal the truth, though the time has come. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter work, although only used once, more for shock value than anything else.

We are introduced to Levi’s brother and Presley’s ex Tanner, as well as their mother Shelby; Tanner and Presley’s son Alex, Alex’s coach Jeremy Brickson, Presley’s best friend Harper, and Palm Inn permanent resident Fern.

WELL PLAYED is an emotional story of secrets and heart break, family and relationships, love and understanding. The premise is essentially an edgy and awkward love triangle ; the romance is intimate and seductive; the characters are energetic, lost, struggling and tragic.

Description:
Stacey is jolted when her friends Simon and Emily get engaged. She knew she was putting her life on hold when she stayed in Willow Creek to care for her sick mother, but it’s been years now, and even though Stacey loves spending her summers pouring drinks and flirting with patrons at the local Renaissance Faire, she wants more out of life. Stacey vows to have her life figured out by the time her friends get hitched at Faire next summer. Maybe she’ll even find The One.

When Stacey imagined “The One,” it never occurred to her that her summertime Faire fling, Dex MacLean, might fit the bill. While Dex is easy on the eyes onstage with his band The Dueling Kilts, Stacey has never felt an emotional connection with him. So when she receives a tender email from the typically monosyllabic hunk, she’s not sure what to make of it.

Faire returns to Willow Creek, and Stacey comes face-to-face with the man with whom she’s exchanged hundreds of online messages over the past nine months. To Stacey’s shock, it isn’t Dex—she’s been falling in love with a man she barely knows.

Review:

Well Played by Jen Deluca is the 2nd book in her Well Met series.  This story revolves around the Renaissance Faire that comes to Willow Creek every year.  We met Stacey (our heroine) in the first book, as she was Emily’s (previous book heroine) best friend.  Stacey is happy with the friends she has in Willow Creek, but she feels something is missing, since she came back to Willow Creek years before to care for her mother.  She looks forward to the Faire every summer, playing her fun part as a wench, flirting with visitors and spending time with friends at the bar, but for the rest of the year, she is lonely.  She did find herself having a one night stand the last two years with Dex MacLean (a manwhore) who was part of the band Dueling Kilts, though he ignored her the rest of the time.

When the faire is over, to her surprise, she begins to receive emails from Dex, who is with his band at a large Renaissance Faire event that last for months.   Stacey finds herself looking forward to the emails, and beginning to have some feelings, but when it gets closer to the summer again and the faire at Willow Creek, she notices some things in his emails. She starts paying more attention to them, since they really do not sound like things Dex would say; sounding sweet, fun, caring and nothing like the egotistical Dex she knew. Stacey suspects that the man she was falling for is really his brother Daniel.

Daniel MacLean, our hero, is a nice guy, but also a bit shy. Upon arriving in Willow Creek, Stacey corners him accusing him that he is the one writing to her. At first Daniel will deny it, but he finally gives in and acknowledges that he was indeed her pen pal. At first Stacey is mad, but in a short time her and Daniel begin to act on their new found feelings, and the real romance begins.  They made a great couple, and I really liked them together, as they had great chemistry.  What follows is a fun romance between Stacey and Daniel, and if they will find a way to stay together, since Daniel and the band are on the road most of the year, and Stacey has family and friends in Willow Creek.

Well Played was a fun, sweet and sexy story, with another amazing heroine in Stacey.  I really loved the secondary characters in this series. I am looking forward to the next book, when its April (Emily’s sister) who will be matched to Mitch.  Jen Deluca did a wonderful job writing this wonderful romantic comedy that that had a lot of humor and charm. I suggest you read Well Played, as it was a fun enjoyable read.
