Description:
I have never been to a place so tiny. Little Bear Island could fit in New York’s armpit. Still a job is a job and, after surviving Afghanistan, what’s twenty-four hours in podunk hell?

Providing private security for a celebrity wedding is nothing new…until I come face-to-face with Natalie O’Brien. The woman who chose someone else and kicked me to the curb six years ago. Time has done nothing to tame her. She’s a red-headed beauty with a sharp tongue and nerves of steel who could seriously knock me off my game…

When my assistant bails, Natalie jumps at the chance to get off this tiny island. Now we’re stuck criss-crossing the country in my SUV, with her tantalizing scent filling the cab and her smart mouth making me very…uncomfortable. Good thing the job will be over soon. So why does the thought of saying goodbye a second time make my heart stop?

Review:

Wild Child is the follow up to the book Summer Girl by A. S. Green.

Natalie O’Brien lives on Little Bear Island on Lake Superior.  She is everyone’s go to person on the island. A Jane of all trades so to speak. She is the glue that holds her small family together.  But something is missing.  Something or someone has been missing since she walked away from the love of her life six years ago. Six years ago, she was following her favorite band around the country, when she met Jackson Sparke, Jax as she called him. They had a whirlwind romance and he has forever been stuck in her mind.  So much so that no man that has come into Natalie’s life can not hold a candle to Jax.

For the past six years Natalie has pined away for the man she was sure she would never see again.  That is until there is a celebrity wedding on the island and she meets the man in charge of the security detail.

Jackson Sparke has had a rough go of life.  His parents were never there for him,  his gram passed away when he was younger and the girl of his dreams walked away from him and never looked back.  He joined the Navy and became a Navy Seal.  Saw combat and lost some friends who meant the world to him. Struggling with his own issues he never expects to run into the girl that has been on his mind for the past six years.

When they first meet each other again, they both pretend to not recognize the other.  They both have gotten older and their looks have slightly changed. But how long can they pretend that that have no idea who the other is?  What begins here is a wonderful angst filled story of rekindling old love, second chances and moving forward when there are so many complications from the past.

I enjoyed Natalie’s character.  She seems to mean a lot to a lot of people.  She seems to be everything for everyone else.  And in that she loses herself. She doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life on her little island.  She dreams of leaving and traveling and trying new things.  She has clearly not gotten over the romance she shared years ago with Jax.  And when he comes back into her life and offers her a job in New York City, she jumps at the chance. But she is just a small town girl, how will she hold up in the big city.

Jax was an angst riddled character that you just absolutely fall in love with.  You can see that he has truly been done wrong by people that were supposed to love him.   You can see that he truly cared for Natalie when he met her six years ago and was devastated when she didn’t stay with him and chose to return to the island without him.  He loved his grandmother and her death was just another whole left in his heart.  But he has gone on to do amazing things.  Start his own investigation company, which is currently doing quite well.  But he is not prepared for what running into Natalie again has brought to his life.

This is a classic romance with a twist of angst.  You aren’t quite sure you will get your happily ever after with this one. but in the end the romance is romantic and the lives of the characters feel real and fact based.  I loved that Jax was real, and while he was handsome and hard, he still was real.  With real faults, and qualities he just does not like about himself.  But when he is willing to make an effort to open up to Natalie and let his guard down – you completely fall in love with him.

This book can be read as a complete stand alone – which is what I have done.  There was nothing that left me questioning what I have missed. But now I want to go back and read Katherine’s story and will do just that with Summer Girl.

REVIEW: SOME LIKE IT WILD is the third storyline in M. Leighton’s contemporary, adult, erotic, romantic series The Wild Ones. This is Laney and Jake’s storyline. Jake is Jenna’s sister-first introduced in The Wild One’s and Wild Child. Following the death of his father, Jake has returned home to settle up the accounts and the will. To his surprise and pleasure, Laney Holt, a woman he kissed four years earlier at the local country fair, is the new paralegal assigned to assess the estate.

The storyline premise follows Laney as she endeavors to keep her business and private life separate but Jake’s sexual aura and their mutual attraction to one another begins to interfere in Laney’s accounting of the family estate. But when Laney’s family attempts to pull her away, she is pushed into the arms of the one man who is sure to set the town’s gossip mongers on high alert. Jake’s reputation as a trouble maker and lady’s man is well known; he knows he isn’t the man to bring home to the parents and in this Jake will walk away because he believes Laney deserves something more. But Jake IS Laney’s something more and she must prove to the man that she loves that there is no one else in her heart.

M. Leighton pulls the reader into an intimate and intense storyline; the sex scenes are passionate, sensual and erotic. Some Like It Wild is a story about moving forward and letting go of the past. Jake must exorcise his demons before he is able to open his heart and his soul and, Laney is the only woman who can tame her wild beast.

REVIEW:WILD CHILD is the second storyline in M. Leighton’s contemporary, romantic, erotic The Wild Ones series. This is Jenna and Rusty’s storyline-Jenna and Rusty are Cami and Trick’s best friends from book one The Wild Ones. The premise follows Jenna and Rusty a few days before Cami and Trick’s wedding. When Jenna reaches a crossroads in her life, Rusty pushes Jenna away at a time when they need one another –the most.

Wild Child is a short story that reveals where a lack of communication can turn a relationship inside out and upside down. As their best friend’s wedding draws near, Cami puts her heart on the line only to have it shattered when Rusty begins to shut down, preparing for the inevitable flight of the woman he loves. But two tragedies within days of each other will push our couple over the edge, and in doing so, there may be no turning back-sometimes words hurt more than broken bones.

M. Leighton writes an emotional and heartbreaking storyline. Communication between one another is the building block of all relationships and without it, love doesn’t stand a chance when misunderstandings and hurtful words aren’t meant to wound but to protect one’s heart.

WILD CHILD can be found as a bonus storyline at the back of SOME LIKE IT WILD (March 2014) and should be read prior to Some Like It Wild.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 29, 2013

Perfect for readers of Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Rachel Gibson, this sizzling romance tells the story of a sexy small-town mayor and a notorious “bad girl,” who discover that home really is where the heart is.

Monica Appleby is a woman with a reputation. Once she was America’s teenage “Wild Child,” with her own reality TV show. Now she’s a successful author coming home to Bishop, Arkansas, to pen the juicy follow-up to her tell-all autobiography. Problem is, the hottest man in town wants her gone. Mayor Jackson Davies is trying to convince a cookie giant to move its headquarters to his crumbling community, and Monica’s presence is just too . . . unwholesome for business. But the desire in his eyes sends a very different message: Stay, at least for a while.

Jackson needs this cookie deal to go through. His town is dying and this may be its last shot. Monica is a distraction proving too sweet, too inviting—and completely beyond his control. With every kiss he can taste her loneliness, her regrets, and her longing. Soon their uncontrollable attraction is causing all kinds of drama. But when two lost hearts take a surprise detour onto the bumpy road of unexpected love, it can only lead someplace wonderful.

“Molly O’Keefe is a unique, not-to-be-missed voice in romantic fiction.”—New York Times bestselling author Susan Andersen

REVIEW

4 out of 5 for this reader folks!

Well hi there Molly O’Keefe, weren’t you were a pleasant surprise! I do love discovering a new author and a brand new series. Wild Child by Molly O’Keefe is a contemporary romance and the first book in the Boys of Bishop Series. I was expecting a light fluffy read especially as the cover looks kind of playful, and while yes, there were many fluffy moments, there is a dark story to be enjoyed here as well. The best of both worlds in my humble opinion. LOL

Our story is set in Bishop, a small town that holds all the small town stereotypes .. you know …. small town gossip that ensures everyone knows everyone’s business, that dinner that has the best food and seems to be where most hang out, unless of course they are hanging out at the local dive bar. The kind of people who look out for another while driving each other nuts at the same time. Only thing is, this small town is close to bankruptcy and utter ruin and the town mayor (our hunky leading man) Jackson has taken it upon himself to make sure this doesn’t happen.

Jackson, yummy stud muffin extraordinaire (yup I totally crushed on him) really just wants to bide his time to get the heck out of Bishop. Having to give up his education in law (after his parents were killed in a car accident) to come home and be his baby sisters guardian, Jackson follows in his father’s footsteps by becoming Bishop’s mayor. His goal is to do the best he can for the town, but leave for a different future as soon as his sister is off to college. In the meantime, an opportunity to save the town via a contest of some cookie factory (winning this contest means reopening the factory, ensuring employment .. town saved) is made available and Jackson goes into “MAYOR OF THE YEAR” mode and has the town get to work cleaning up it’s act. Well he then discovers that the old town “Wild Child” Monica Appleby has returned to Bishop to write a book about a murder that shook the sweet towns core many years ago. Monica also has the reputation of being the bad girl that could really smudge the squeaky clean look that Jackson is trying to portray.

It turns out however, the chemistry likes to snap, crackle and pops between Jackson and Monica. Serious problem especially for Jackson, until he comes to realize that Monica’s presence in the town happens to work in Bishop’s favour with regards to the contest. The fact that they are also stirring the lust pot and starting to really fall for each other just makes this story juicier. Super hot scenes, laughable moments and some of the most romantic gestures I have read, just added warm and fuzzies of this book.

So for the first book of a series you absolutely get what one should expect by means of a detailed introduction to many secondary characters that just may have had some stories set up for what I hope will be future books. Story lines (yes there are more than one here) that have depth and tended to change the mood of the book kept me wanting to flip those pages. Our leading man and woman weren’t as clear cut as we first believe, and through their discovery of each other they begin to truely discover themselves and their relationships with others.

Will these two discover that small town romance just may be what the other desperately needs? Will their hot smexy attraction lead to more than just steam between the sheets … will these two really get through to the other and crack the defence walls both have built? Will Monica survive writing this dreadful book of murder??? Will Jackson stay in Bishop??? You know my answer .. TEEHEE

HAPPY READING! 🙂
