My brother always tells me I love to be difficult. And that I am right now. Because my favorite Sword of Truth novel is the one not yet written. I can feel it coming though. When “Law of Nines” came out, I saw that truly anything is possible. I would like to see another book like that, but going back to the moment the Pillars of Creation all departed the land of magic.
by the way, my email is sethsmommy2002@comcast.net just in case, lol.
I have had a hard time choosing on favorite Terry Goodkind novel. Put if I had to choose one favorite I would have to choose The Blood of the Fold. I like The Blood of the Fold because in my opinion Richard Rahl shows his self as leader after taking over the Midlands and ruler of D’hara. I believe also Richard has come into his own as a war wizard with his use of subtractive magic. Richard knowledge of magic is starting to show as well with his learning of High D’Haran. The bond between Richard and the Mord-Sith is a large stepping stone for the other books.
I have really enjoyed Terry Goodkinds books and can not wait to read The First Confessor: The Legend of Magda Searus.
Tough to say, maybe Temple of the Winds or Faith of the Fallen. Last 3 in the series proper were good too.
my favorite would have to be faith of the fallen , because that is when i truly became to understand appreciate admire and love kahlan for her courage her strength her hope devotion and heart. she is truly my idol when it comes to being amazing woman. and it happens to be the book that has my favorite rule as well “the only sovereign you can allow to rule is reason”

Temple of the Winds is my favorite i believe because i love when Kahlan marries Drefan and Richard marries Nadine because i liked the scene after when they were to each consummate the marriage but unaware that Cara had intervened and placed Richard and Kahlan together and Kahlan betrayed Richard by giving in and willingly being with him and allowing herself to enjoy and feel pleasure thinking she was with Drefan.I think it was a well written scene and makes this book one of my favorites.

This is a very tough question. Wizards First Rule because it introduces us to Richard, Kahlan, and Zed. It goes on to set the pace for quite a while and shows us so much about their world. Temple of the Winds gives us a glimpse of a War Wizard in complete control of his powers! Something I had been waiting to see since Richard figured out he was a War Wizard. Currently I’m reading The Omen Machine, so of course it’s my current Favorite.
I’m looking forward to reading The First Confessor when it comes out tomorrow. To have a signed copy of this very limited book, would be an honor. Much less the entire package. I’ve never won anything, and this would really put a bright spot in what has been a bad year. Congratulations to whoever does win this. More importantly, thank you Mr. Goodkind for writing such a beautiful story. Richard and Kahlan are like old friends, and I look forward to spending time with them.

While every book is special to me, overall, if I were to select one it would be Faith of the Fallen. The reason for this is Faith of the Fallen felt much like an exercise in the use of all the rules. Proof of this can be drawn from Zedd’s comment about the sixth rule being the hub which all rules turn. The story’s use of narrative to convey Richard’s understanding of the Machiavellian principle, “It is just as difficult and dangerous to try to free a people that wants to remian servile as it is to enslave a people that wants to remain free,” was brilliant, and as always made the philosophy come alive through example. Another particularly important point made was how evil could flourish only so long as the people could be oppressed by tyranny and corruption within the law. In closing perhaps my favorite part was how Richard’s unwavering love for life and all its beauty changed Nicci. To see her nihilism slowly give way and change into a passion for life was inspiring.
My favorite by far is Confessor. Love it! I always come back to it.

Its a hard choice, to make I love all the TG books but Faith of the Fallen has to be my favorite.
I love Temple of The Winds. There’s so much mystery and intrigue there.
piglet8631@aol.com
Temple of the Winds, eventhough Faith of the Fallen get’s close. Temple of the Winds has so much history behind what’s realy going on in the Midlands, this is where all the history really begins, and Kolo’s Journal introduced a bundle of information, previously unknown by anyone for centuries.
My favorite TG novel is Wizards First Rule.
Wizard’s First Rule is my favorite Terry Goodkind novel.

It is so hard to pin down just one favorite, i love all terrys books. They have kept me entertained for hours on end. I think i am stuck between two, Temple of the winds and soul of fire. Both truly amazing books. But i think it may have to be soul of fire, zedd turning into a bird and still being able to control a horse by making it his best friend still tickles me, i wish he was my grandfather, he is epic!! The storyline is just fantastic, they way that richards brain works is truly amazing. only he could of worked out where “the mountain” was resting. I got so frustrated while reading this, with the people they were trying to help. How dare they turn there backs! when an author can get you that angry about a situation, he has, in simple words, nailed it! So looking forward to reading the next installment 🙂
My favourite book is “Faith of the Fallen” particularly the part with Nicci and the statue—I read it to some women in jail actually and they absolutely loved it.
Oh and email theladywashington@yahoo.com 🙂
It is hard to pick just one book out of so many to be my favorite. I would have to go with Wizards First Rule as it was the beginning of my deep love for Goodkind’s style of writing.

I see that many people agree with me that Faith of the Fallen is their favorite. It’s too difficult to choose just one book by Terry Goodkind; they are all so fantastic. Wizards First Rule started it all for me and without it I would not have continued on with the entire series and his other novels. With each book there continues to be such passion, honor, self sacrifice, and love for humanity. I personally have found meaning in each Wizards Rule of the Sword of Truth series, but my favorite is from Stone of Tears: “The greatest harm can result from the best intentions.” Knowledge, wisdom, forethought, and understanding is the key to preventing harm and destruction. I used this rule daily: in my work in the military and in my work in sports medicine. Again, it is too difficult to choose only one book, but if I must – Faith of the Fallen.

After sitting here reading many of these posts had to think long about which was my favorite. this entire series is by far my favorite i have ever read. All the characters & how they grow as the story progresses is amassing. After thinking on it though none of the book would be what they are without the begging & later book even bring back material from the first book in new light & importance., Therefore Wizards First Rule would have to be my favorite.
Wizard’s First Rule is still my favorite Terry Goodkind novel even after reading all the books twice.

My favorite book is Blood of the Fold. I love how Richard embraces and grows throughout the book as well as all of those around him.

My favourite would by far have to be Wizards First Rule, it’s the book that started it all and had me hooked from the end of the first chapter. There was always so much promise reading through the stories that each book would be as good as the last, and Goodkind always fulfilled that promise. As a result of this there was never any chance of me not reading more and loving every minute of it, both the victories and the pitfalls as it all made the characters seem so real.
Wizards first rule is definitely my favourite.

I have to say Wizards First Rule. You never can recreate the moment you fall in love with a book or a series! It was the first. And while I sat on the edge of my seat many times…. it was the first..
The Wizards First Rule is the best, getting to know all the characters is amazing.
My favorite book was the law of nines, i loved all the other ones, but i liked how this one tied in our world with richard and kahlans.

Name your favorite Terry Goodkind novel.
“Faith of the Fallen” is by far my favorite novel. It has always been an easy answer, and I’ve even gone so far as to purchase a copy of the original cover art, signed by Terry Goodkind and Keith Parkinson! Thank you for this opportunity.
Some say that the pen is mightier than the sword. However in the case of The Sword of Truth series the writing of Terry Goodkind and the character of Richard Rahl who holds the magical sword of truth are both equal and play a large part in what I would consider one of the most magnificent series of all time.
It is hard to say which novel could be defined as my favorite. However “Stone of Tears” has always held a special place with me considering it was probably the longest first non-British classic novel that I ever got through.
There are several reasons “Stone of Tears” continues to remain my favorite but one of the biggest reasons is that throughout this book Terry showed that his characters are more than one dimensional figures on a page. In the second book in the series these characters show many humanistic traits that we are all capable of such as love, courage, pain, strength, humility, hurt, and betrayal and to me that is what makes “Stone of Tears” one of the best novels I have ever had the fortune of reading.
Wizard’s First Rule is my all time favorite.
Naknox123@yahoo.com
I’d have to say Faith of the Fallen. There is so much epicness in the book. So many themes you can connect to. It also came to me at a rought time so the ending was especially moving to me. I have read the book over and over again. I have a special book shelf just for Terry Goodkind books. 😀
I absolutely love every single one of Terry Goodkind’s books, and even though I did feel that I became more and more engaged within the story through each book, my favorite has to be Wizard’s First Rule. I have strong dyslexia (like Mr. Goodkind himself I’ve learned recently) and so I did not like reading when I was younger, but as soon as I discovered this first book, I was hooked. I was only about 12, but in retrospect I find it wonderful that I grew up learning from the ideals of Mr. Goodkind and finding the absolute love of life displayed throughout his writing literally influencing my life in the best way possible. I read it so many times; the book I had was a very early edition: so early that one of the first pages when you opened it (the one that listed all of Terry Goodkind’s work) only said: “Wizard’s First Rule and *Wizard’s Second Rule (forthcoming).” So the book I had was published even before the sequel was named Stone of Tears. I was so incredibly happy when I discovered that the story continued, but the first book will always have a special place in my heart.
I forgot, email is: cody.rogers@hotmail.com
Debt of Bones is my favorite. I know, it’s a novella, but still…. Adie is my favorite character of all because she is strong and faithful. She adds much to the story overall and I’d like to see/read more about her in the future!
It’s kind of a tie between Wizard’s First Rule, Temple of the Winds, and Faith of the Fallen, for which Terry Goodkind novel is my favorite. Though I think I’ll have to go with Wizard’s First Rule, it was after all the book that introduced me to the series. Temple of the winds is a close second though, it gives some insight behind, and made me like, Cara all the more.

I personally loved Faith of the Fallen the most. There were so many deeper meanings to be had throughout the book.
My favorite book was Soul of the Fire. It was at a point where I was fully committed to the story, and I felt the main driving action towards the endgame started here. You have glimpses of how intricately the story is balanced, and the general badass-ness of the principals. Soul of the Fire made me feel like the action came to a natural, organic head, and it was the only way that the story could have turned out. I don’t usually gush about anything, but I recommend this series as a fantastic primer to my friends who are looking to take a dip into fantastical waters.

My favorite book is “Faith of the Fallen.” I consider it my personal “Bible” of sorts. It speaks to exactly what is wrong with people and how each person needs to live their own life.
erecsphotos@live.com
Stone of Tears! Kahlan leading an army and I love Gratch!
My Favorite book is Wizard’s First Rule. It started it all, and it pulled me in from the first chapter. Could not put the book down!
Its hard to say what book in this series i liked the best..
But if i had to say one of the books it has to be “Faith of the fallen”.
The reason for this is because of the way the author describes the beautiful scenery where Richard , Cara and Kahlan lives up in the mountains before Nicci comes after them.
Its a story with fantastic images told in a vivid and remarkable way.
When Nicci arrives it also builds up to be a story with alot of action, you get to know how Richards powers works for each day and its also the start of how Nicci becomes the intriguing character we all love and brilliant allied in the end.
In other words, Faith of the Fallen is a EPIC novel.
Not just in the series but of all novels i have ever read !

Faith of the fallen is the most inspirational and utterly unforgettable.
My favorite is Wizard’s First Rule. This book was the first scifi/fantasy book I had ever read and it was so amazing, that is all I read now. I own the entire SOT series and have gotten so many friends hooked on it! This series opened an entirely new genre to me whereas before I had been stuck reading crap. Now I have found books that transport me to somewhere else and leave me feeling fulfilled and yet wanting more all at the same time!!! Keep on with your amazing words Mr. Goodkind!! I will read them no matter what format you release them in, so long as I get to read them at all!!! Thank you!!!
I just realized that I missed the deadline! I hate living overseas and not knowing what time zone you are in!! Aaargghh, oh well, maybe the next contest I will be on time.
My favorite is quite simply the first one: Wizard’s First Rule. In this novel, there are so many undertones, shades in Goodkind’s beautiful language. I can sense, almost taste, almost smell and almost feel what Richard and Kahlan do.
I was torn between books one, three, six, and eleven, but giving it much thought, “Blood of the Fold” came on top. From Richard’s drive to get to his Kahlan while having much bigger responsibilities in the New World, to how Tobias Brogan tries to further his ideals while going against them himself, to the epic rescue of the Gars led by Gratch in the end, and of course, the wit and charm of Berdine, Raina, and Cara. All these things make me go back to this book again and again. Although it tells me different things every time I read it, the truth of the Wizard’s Third Rule, Passion rules reason, is something that doesn’t change. I came to understand this statement not only by reading Terry’s books, but by going through life as well. I saw and experienced both the ‘for better’ and the ‘for worse’ parts of how passion can override one’s rational thinking. Passion can lead one to do the most extremes of things, for something that he wants to attain, or someone he loves deeply. Even though the results could be sometimes fulfilling, such as accomplishing something that he wouldn’t have without going out of his comfort zone, or being fortunate enough that the love that was given would be reciprocated, it could also lead one to be blind to what really exists, to the people that one steps on or disregards on his way to the attainment of his dreams, or to the authenticity of the person who he thought shares his love and sentiments.
Faith of the Fallen is, by far, my favorite Terry Goodkind novel. Richard’s morals and ethics are my own, Nicci’s development is superb, and Kahlan and Cara’s relationship is beautiful. Life.
And I realized after the fact that I missed the deadline.
Simple truth is that Wizard’s First Rule is my favourite.
It is one of the better first in a series novels that i have read and find it does wonders to lay the groundwork for what has been one of my favourite series
