REVIEW:THE OATH WE TAKE is the second instalment in S. Cole’s contemporary, adult IRON OUTLAWS MC: COLORADO erotic, MC romance series, a spin off from the author’s IRON OUTLAWS MC. This is Iron Outlaws Enforcer, thirty year old Hudson ‘Atom’ Addams, and bar owner Ember Deeks’ story line. THE OATH WE TAKE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Ember is club president Butcher’s daughter

Told from dual first person perspectives (Atom and Ember) THE OATH WE TAKE follows the forbidden romance and relationship between our story line couple as the Iron Outlaws MC deal with a potential threat to the club. Approximately five years earlier, Hudson ‘Atom ‘ Addams humiliated and broke his best friend Ember Deeks’ heart in the process. Fast forward to present day, Ember Deeks is a proud bar owner, a bar in which the club is welcome but no cuts are allowed, and in this, our heroine struggles with the ongoing presence of the man who broke her heart. Hoping to move on without looking back, Ember’s most recent date ends with an attack by the Russian Bratva, and threats to our heroine and her father’s club. Determined to protect the woman he loves, Atom proclaims himself guardian and protector fearing the repercussions of his president, Ember’s dad . As the club hunts for the people responsible, the threats against Ember become dangerous and deadly, and Atom becomes the prime suspect where her father is concerned.

The world building follows several paths including the tempestuous and forbidden relationship between Atom and Ember; the search for a possible mole; and the fall-out of dysfunctional family dynamics, jealousy and greed.

The relationship between Atom and Ember is a best friends to enemies to frenemies to lovers; a rekindling friendship in the face of forbidden love, forbidden by the man in charge. Struggling to remain unobjective as the woman he loves is threatened. Atom begins an investigation of his own, only to discover a betrayer closer than he could have ever imagined. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense.

There is another large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including Ember’s father and club president Butcher; VP Grudge, treasurer Catfish, road captain Smoke, prospect Dice, SAA Wraith and Raven; bakery owner Quinn ; book club member Dawn; Atom’s father Wheeler, and grandfather Breaker, as well as Ember’s date Rocco. The requisite evil has many faces.

THE OATH WE TAKE is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, greed and jealousy, family and friendships, relationships and love. The character driven premise is edgy and dramatic; the romance is fated and seductive; the characters are determined and charismatic.

The tattoo across my right hip says it all really. A Life Less Ordinary. Inked by the amazingly talented Luke Wessman at the Wooster Street Social Club (a.k.a. New York Ink). Why is it important? Well, it sums up my view on life. That we should all aspire to live a life that is less boring, less predictable. Be bold, and do something amazing. I’ve made some crazy choices. I’ve been a car maker, a consultant, and even a senior executive at a large retailer running strategy. Born in England, spent time in the U.S. and Japan, before ending up in Canada where I met my own, personal hero – all six and a half feet of him. Both of us are scorpios! Yeah, I know! Should have checked the astrological signs earlier, but somehow it works for us. We have two amazing kids, who I either could never part with or could easily be convinced to sell on e-bay.

I’ve wanted to be a writer for a really long time. Check through my office cupboards or my computer and you’ll find half written stories and character descriptions everywhere. Now I’m getting the chance to follow that dream.
