PARTNERS . . . FRIENDS . . .

Forensic anthropologist Victoria Palmer has always been better with the dead than the living. Shutting down her emotions, she lets few people in. But then Victoria’s latest investigation takes her and agent Wade Monroe to Savannah, Georgia. Handsome, dangerous, and more than ready to play dirty on any case, Wade weakens Victoria’s aloofness with just one glance.

. . . LOVERS

Wade knows their recent cases have pushed Victoria beyond her limits. But her skills are crucial to finding a college student who went missing five years ago. Victoria is able to determine she was murdered, and that the killer is still on the loose.

And when the vicious murderer targets Victoria, Wade must do everything in his power to protect her . . . because he refuses to let a woman he loves be torn from him . . . again.

REVIEW: TORN is the fourth book in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult LOST romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for L.O.S.T. (Last Option Search Team). This is LOST agent Wade Monroe, and forensic anthropologist Victoria Palmer’s story line. TORN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from several third person points of view TORN focuses on the hunt for a missing woman. Five years earlier twenty two year old college student Kennedy Lane went missing during an early morning jog and was never heard from again. With the anniversary of her disappearance looming, her former boyfriend approached the LOST organization in the hopes of some closure-one way or another. Enter LOST investigator Wade Monroe, and forensic anthropologist Victoria Palmer-two people with dark secrets of their own. What ensues is the search for Kennedy Lane, and the discovery that two more people have been targeted by the psychotic killer.

The relationship between Wade and Victoria has been building throughout the series. Victoria is a woman withdrawn and quiet whose past is mired in murder and abuse. Wade is the man who hopes to uncover Victoria’s secrets, and in doing so reveal a little more about himself. The $ex scenes are intimate, seductive and hot.

The world building continues to focus on the search for missing people. Most of the cases are cold wherein the original investigation is no longer active. L.O.S.T. is recruited by family members and friends of the missing, to add some closure to their grief and loss. Two new potential LOST agents have been recruited to the team.

TORN is a suspense filled story line with so many twist and turns it is impossible to determine the guilty party. At one point I thought I solved the crime then BAM !! something or someone else jumps into the line of fire. Cynthia Eden writes an intriguing tale of murder, obsession and mystery. The premise is engaging, dramatic and entertaining-you will not want to put down the book. The characters are real, flawed and passionate. The romance is captivating and emotional.

  1. Sounds great, Sandy. I have not read much of Eden recently. What I have read was great. One day I have to go back and find the time to read her books again.
