REVIEW: TORTURE ME GENTLY Is the second instalment in Kira James’ contemporary, adult DARK ALLIANCE dystopian/ paranormal romance series. This is former US soldier turned werewolf Vincent Rand, and succubus/night club owner Lissa aka Elizabeth’s story line. TORTURE ME GENTLY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from numerous third person perspectives including Lissa and Rand, following several interconnected pathways, TORTURE ME GENTLY follows in the wake of a series of murders blamed on the werewolf nation. Six victims, all human, have been killed in what can only be described as a violent attack, and Rand has been tasked with uncovering the truth when his ‘mentor’ and fellow werewolf Gunnolf, is suspected of committing the murders. Rand’s first stop is a supernatural nightclub owned by a succubus with an additional power. Enter succubus Lissa, and the woman with whom Rand will fall in love. As Rand searches for the truth, the murders continue, Rand becomes the prime suspect, and a powerful vampire is thought to have lost his humanity to the beast.

The relationship between Rand and Lissa is one of immediate attraction but Lissa doesn’t do relationships, succubus do not fall in love, and our heroine finds herself facing imprisonment if she refuses to help take down our story line hero. Rand suspects Lissa is something more than a bar owner, something more than a succubus that is stealing more than his heart. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and powerful secondary and supporting characters-vampires and weren, fairies and succubus, witches, warlocks, demons and something more.

TORTURE ME GENTLY is a detailed and complex story line of betrayal, power, obsession and love. The premise is captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are charismatic and impassioned.

REVIEW: TEMPT ME DEADLY is the third instalment in Kira James’ contemporary, adult DARK ALLIANCE erotic, paranormal, romance series. This is ancient vampire Nicholas Montegue, and twenty-nine year old Petra Tsang’s story line. TEMPT ME DEADLY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout.

NOTE: The Dark Alliance series was originally published as the Shadowkeepers Series but the new release has been extensively revised.

Told from third person perspectives TEMPT ME DEADLY follows the search for a cure for our heroine Petra Tsang. Petra, like all of the first born women in her family are cursed, such that if touched or they touch someone else, the other person/ being is immediately turned into a monster, a killing beast that cannot be stopped except for the death of its’ maker. Sentenced to die, Petra finds herself facing execution but will be saved by vampire Nicholas Montegue, the man with whom Petra will fall in love. As Nicholas and Petra search for the only person who may be aware of a possible cure, the group known as The Alliance sets its’ sights on our story line heroine in an effort to take down that which cannot be controlled. What ensues is the building relationship and friendship between Nicholas and Petra, and the fall-out as a monster takes aim at everyone involved.

The relationship between Petra and Nicholas is one of immediate attraction but a physical relationship is impossible under the circumstances. Desperate to find a cure and save the people she loves, Petra is willing to sacrifice herself but not before finding love with our story line hero. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters all of whom have some sort of paranormal ability-not everyone will survive. Petra is thought to be a human but her ‘powers’ are much more than anyone could have imagined.

TEMPT ME DEADLY is a story of betrayal and madness, power and control, acceptance and love. The premise is emotional and captivating; the romance is heart breaking; the characters are powerful, strong and determined.
