Tratchars by M.A. Abraham – Review & Giveaway
Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo
Description:
After a horrifying ambush by the Demons, the Elves realize that it is only a matter of time before the war is brought to the forefront once more. The younger generations have come of age and are expected to take their places beside their parents in battle. It is something they trained hard for and are ready to do. They begin by looking into the past for other battle techniques that might have been lost to them over the millenniums. The one who is the most vigilant on that front is Ennacas, an Elf who seems to always have to learn everything the hard way.
In her studies, Ennacas has learned that Tratchars were once the most feared warriors. She wants to know why and there is one Elf she can turn to for answers. As an ancient, Rothliel was fully trained to serve the Empire as a Tratchar Warrior. At her request, he will share the knowledge that has been lost to those who share their talents. Only one Tratchar cannot attend his classes, Endiku, for the war in the Free Lands, where he lives, has not abated.
The order of the Great Guardian of the Free Lands to bring Ennacas leaves Endiku no choice but to face his Life Mate, for The Great Guardian has a quest for them that will take their combined talents to complete. When the time comes for him to collect his bride, he is apprehensive. He has not spoken to her for centuries and is unsure of his welcome. She is a woman now, and there is nothing more dangerous than a female who feels she has been taken for granted, especially one who is a Tratchar and an Eagle Claw.
Review:
Tratchars by M.A. Abraham is the 9th book in her Elven Chronicles series. This series just keeps getting better and better. Two powerful Tratchars join hands in battle and love to fight the Demons. M.A. Abraham has given us another wonderful, thrilling adventure, with our favorite Elves. Tratchars brings forth the younger generation, as Ennacas (Eden and Gabriel oldest daughter) and Endiku, who is her lifemate, are the leads in this story. It starts with a young Ennacas being punished for sneaking out at night with her cousins, after being found by Endiku (who just arrived in the kingdom). Ennacas is punished by her parents to learn all facets of being an Elven warrior, as well as a Tratchar, with no time for fun. This will take over a hundred years. In Tratchars time flies, but the Elven world time is different than our time, though I did find it kind of weird to see in different parts the major lapse in time.
The crux of the story is that the Demons have now started in full force a war that bring all the kingdoms together to fight a very strong and powerful evil that threatens the lives of all the Elves we have grown to love. The Great Guardians (Sentinels) are slowly being destroyed in each Elven Kingdom, and Ennacas is the chosen one who is sent on a mission by the Guardians, that will bring her together with Endiku, who will help protect her, and Rothliel, possibly the oldest and most powerful Tratchar, who will work alongside her. Their mission: they must dig below each Great Guardian, and remove the light that keeps them alive with memories. But along the way, the evil Demons are ready to attack the Elves with dangerous slithering snakes that not only are destroying the trees, they will also destroy those who come save them. Ennacas, Endiku, Rothliel and their warrior/tratchar team will visit each Kingdom and bring what was taken from each Guardian to be placed in a safe place where the demons cannot get to in order for the Great Guardians to be reborn.
Rather than to tell too much more, this was a wonderful story, which is not only exciting, but brings everyone (all the Eagle Claw family, the Elves we have loved, and those we met over the 8 books) together to fight evil, as well as giving us a beautiful romance between Ennacas and Endiku. The Elven Chronicles is a fun series, and in Tratchars, it is a bit more serious with the upcoming war; but so great to see the children growing up and joining the elders in the battle for freedom. M.A. Abraham does it again with a wonderful story.
