Review:
Trouble When You Walked In by Kieran Kramer is a sweet romance in a small town, Kettle Knob, North Carolina. Cissie Rogers is our heroine and the town librarian. Boone Braddock is our hero, and the Mayor, as well as the football coach. Boone had always been the most popular guy in town, going back to his days playing football. Cissie has a slight crush on Boone during their high school days, but Boone did not pay too much attention to her. The Rogers and the Braddocks were never friends, more like enemies over the years.
The fun begins when Boone comes to the library to tell Cissie that due to the town budget, they will close the Kettle Knob library and merge it with another library in the next town. Cissie is beside herself, and decides to fight, useing her friends in town to help her try to stop this. Cissie lives in a house with her grandmother, who was a wonderful addition to this story.
Boone doesn’t take Cissie seriously, but finds himself looking at her in a different perspective, not to mention the sparks that begin to fly. Especially, when Cissie’s friend takes her for a makeover. Cissie is a determined young lady, as she decides the only way to stop this merge is to run for Mayor, against Boone.
Out of the blue, during a storm, a tree falls on Cissie’s house, and of course she and grandma end up at Boone’s big house to stay until renovations are made. This opens up a small scandal, as the two mayoral opponents are living in the same house. Boone insists that he is helping out, and is shocked when Cissie, who still has a crush on him, throws herself at him. They both then agree to enjoy the benefits and keep it quiet. After all, they are supposed to be enemies, trying to beat one another.
This was a fun sweet romance, and all the characters were really nice. Most of all, I liked Boone and Cissie together, as they were a sexy couple. Who won the mayoral race? You will need to read the book to find out.
I did have some mixed feelings in the early part of the book. Though the characters, including the hero and heroine were very nice, at times early on I found this a bit slow, and some of the comments and characters a bit sappy. It did get better in the second half. If you enjoy sweet small town romances, with some silliness, then Trouble When You Walked In is for you.
