REVIEW: WAKING UP WITH A BILLIONAIRE is the third and final (?) installment in Katie Lane’s adult, contemporary THE OVERNIGHT BILLIONAIRES erotic, romance series focusing on the Beaumont siblings–Deacon, Nash and Grayson Beaumont; three brothers from the Louisiana Bayou who inherited controlling stocks in their uncle’s dying business-French Kiss Lingerie. This is French Kiss Lingerie co-owner and artist Grayson ‘Romeo’ Beaumont, and Chloe McAlister’s story line. We were first introduced to Chloe in the previous story line wherein our heroine finds herself on the run from more than an abusive ex. WAKING UP WITH A BILLIONAIRE can be read as a stand alone but for cohesion and backstory, I recommend reading the series in order.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Grayson and Chloe) WAKING UP WITH A BILLIONAIRE focuses on the building relationship between artist and painter Grayson Beaumont-one of the co-owners of French Kiss Lingerie, and Chloe McAlister- a young woman running from her past. For six months Grayson has been in an artistic slump. He has lost his ‘muse’, and is suffering from ‘painter’s block’ but when his brother Deacon needs time off with the arrival of his first born, and his other brother Nash is honeymooning on a tropical island, Grayson finds himself the man in control of French Kiss Lingerie when Chloe McAlister walks back into his life. Chloe is in desperate need of a quick influx of cash, and has reconsidered Grayson’s request to pose for a nude painting by our story line hero. What ensues is the push and pull, back and forth of attraction and sexual energy between two people whose lives connected six months earlier. Chloe is on the run; her past has caught up; and our heroine finds herself Grayson’s prisoner as he steps in to protect her from her past and herself.

WAKING UP WITH A BILLIONAIRE is a story line fraught with betrayal, secrets, lies and misunderstanding. The relationship between Chloe and Grayson struggles as Grayson is unable to move forward but Chloe is a woman determined to help save the man with whom she is falling in love. Grayson is a man unable to let go of the past-a past whose memories are no longer in reach. The $ex scenes are erotic, intense and seductive.

All of the previous story line couples and characters play secondary and supporting roles including Deacon and Olivia (A Billionaire Between the Sheets), and Nash and Eden (A Billionaire After Dark), as well as the Beaumont patriarch Donny John: PA Kelly and her new husband/lawyer Jason struggle with their attempts at starting a family; and Eden’s hippie grandparents whose love of ‘magical brownies’ is humorous and fun. The reader is witness to Deacon and Nash’s continuing stories as they begin the next step on their journey of life.

WAKING UP WITH A BILLIONAIRE is an intriguing story; an emotional and heartbreaking tale about one woman whose life was destroyed six years earlier; and about one man who is desperate to reclaim what was lost. There are moments of pain and loss; drama and revenge; falling in love and letting go of the past. The premise is engaging and enjoyable; the characters are passionate, refreshing and animated; the romance is fated and challenging. The epilogue fast forwards several years where we get a glimpse into the expanding Beaumont family and the sibling dynamics.
