WHEN CANARIES DIE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous storylines is revealed where necessary.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from several third person perspectives including Pierce Evangelista WHEN CANARIES DIE follows in the wake of another pandemic sweeping the globe, a pandemic in which human blood becomes a commodity, and the loss of lives is a byproduct of supply and demand. With illegal immigration at the forefront of American fears, the US government is considering a new spin on vaccine testing but not before the Mexican Cartel takes their share of the billionaire dollar prize. With the help of attorneys Maggie Malone and Moses Black, Pierce takes on the US government, Big Pharma, and anyone who is determined to get rich as the world, once again , implodes.
The world building is complex and awash in legal, political and government jargon as our hero presents his case against those profiting on death and destruction. Blood transfusions have become a temporary fix against another viral pandemic but in an effort to meet the supply, the Cartel is determined to become the national supplier.
The secondary and supporting characters include several members of Big Pharma, the Mexican Cartel, the US government, and several levels of the legal system. We are introduced to attorneys Maggie Malone, and Moses Black, as well as a young asylum seeker who risks everything, including her life, for a freedom that was never promised.
WHEN CANARIES DIE is a timely story of betrayal, greed, human trafficking, illness, death, destruction and mayhem. The premise is dark, dramatic and edgy; the characters are determined and charismatic.
