REVIEW:WOLF CAGED is the first instalment in Felicity Heaton’s adult Bound to the Shadow King paranormal, fantasy romance series. This is Unseelie King Kaeleron, The Wrathful, and wolf shifter Saphira’s story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Kael and Saphira) WOLF CAGED follows in the wake of the King Kaeleron’s ‘purchase’ of our story line heroine. Saphira thought she was about to marry her fated mate but found herself at an auction, for sale to the highest bidder. Kaeleron’s seer told him his future lay with the wolf shifter known as Saphira, a young woman who struggles with what happened and why. As Saphira and Kael dance around one another , our heroine discovers her place in King Kaeleron’s life is not as well received as she had imagined but for King Kael, and his seer, Saphira is the exact being they need for what lies ahead.

The world building follows Saphira as she comes to terms with what happened and why. As Saphira and Kaeleron journey throughout the lands, the various beasts and supernatural creatures reveal eons of secrets, betrayal and wars., and the divided lands of Courts and wards. The miscommunication between our story line couple is the precipitous to a fall-out just as their love begins to grow

The relationship between Kael and Saphira begins as a purchase but Kael’s rescue of Saphira is seen as a form of trafficking, and our heroine struggles with her attraction to a man who could destroy her life. The slow building romance is an enemies to lovers in which Kael’s need for Saphira is more than just a mating but a necessity for all. The $ex scenes are limited but impassioned.

There is a large ensemble cast of energetic and magical secondary and supporting characters including Seelie, Unseelie, Demons, elves, dragon, vampires, wraith, lich, minotaurs, and wolf shifters. We are introduced to Kael’s spymaster Demon Malachi, vampire Riordan, and Kael’s sister Jenavyr, Oberson, and Saphira’s wolf shifter friends Everlee and Morden.

WOLF CAGED is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, family and friendships, relationships and hurt. The slow building premise is enchanting and detailed with plenty of introspection and contemplation; the romance is fated and seductive; the characters are desperate, determined and charismatic. WOLF CAGED ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
