ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 20, 2021

Marisol doesn’t want a mate. Can Rogar keep her alive long enough to change her mind?

Thrilled by the prospect of a new job, Marisol doesn’t even make it to the moon before her shuttle is attacked by the Morax. A terrifying explosion shatters reality then she wakes up in the arms of Rogar, one of the lunar raiders. Marisol is determined to stay focused on work, so why can’t she stop thinking, and dreaming, about her handsome rescuer.

Rogar is furious when a shuttle flies right into the middle of one of his missions. Then he realizes his mate, Marisol is onboard. Shaken by the near disaster, he refuses to let her out of his sight. He wants to give her time to explore her new environment before he tells her they are mates, but escalating danger and their intense attraction mock his good intentions at every turn.

REVIEW: ROGAR is the second instalment in Cyndi Friberg’s adult LUNAR UPRISING sci-fi, romance series. This is lunar raider/ munitions class commander Rogar Kazal and human female, former UN advisor Marisol Conti’s story line. ROGAR can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout.

SOME BACKGROUND: Eight years earlier, six Pylorian spaceships arrived on Earth asking for asylum claiming they were fleeing their immortal enemy, the wolf-like Morax, but in the ensuing years, the Pylorian began to take control, using their considerable powers to force the governments of Earth to do their bidding. In an effort to protect Earth, the Pylorian’s claim to have cultivated aka created the lunar raiders, a hybrid of three alien species (Morax, Pylorian, Dox Tory) one of which reacts instantly when their destined mate is near.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Rogar and Marisol) ROGAR focuses on the building and fated romance and relationship between lunar raider/ munitions class commander Rogar Kazal and human female, former UN advisor Marisol Conti, and the need for the lunar raiders to claim the moon aka Lunar Prime as their home base of operations. Rogar knew instantly the human female Marisol Conti was his mate but bided his time in the aftermath of an attack against the ship in which Marisol arrived. With the Pylorian and Morax having declared war against the lunar raiders, Rogar and the ruling council on Lunar Prime struggled to ensure Earth understood their need for autonomy but their enemies refused to back down, throwing the lunar raiders head first into a potential war with the human race. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Marisol and Rogar, and the fall-out as the Pylorians attack Earth, laying blame on the lunar raiders.

Marisol Conti left her position as an ambassador to the UN in the wake of a hostile working environment but never expected to find herself head first on a journey to the moon, and into the arms of her potential future. Rogar Kazal bided his time before claiming his mate but with the possibility of war, Rogar’s need to protect his mate is constantly thwarted by the targeted attacks against the woman with whom he is falling in love.

The relationship between Rogar and Marisol is one fated by DNA and fate. The lunar raiders are a hybrid species, developed with the combination of Morax, Pylorian, Dox Tory DNA, and in this the lunar raiders get the best and worst part of each underlying species. Desperate to claim Marisol as his mate, Rogar sets about to seduce his female in the ways of human dating. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including lunar raider / guardian Zorak Savoy, and Catriona Barco (Marisol’s friend), Rogar’s guardian Lokiz; lunar raider Prime Commander Vosic Parso, recon-class commander Leko; medic-class commander Benlon, infantry class Dracus, Secretary of State Danielle Schweitzer, UN Security council member Abigail Brighton, and DC One’s Olarra Kreth.

ROGAR is a story of discrimination, specieism, hatred and intolerance reflecting much of modern day Earth’s inability to cooperate with one another. The character driven premise is fast paced, complex and inventive; the romance is tender and seductive; the characters are lively, spirited and charismatic.

Grant’s Blaze (Shark’s Edge 6) by Victoria Blue/Angel Payne-review tour

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo / Google Play / Apple /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 7, 2021.

Being someone’s rock is a role Rio Gibson never saw herself playing. On most days, she’s not convinced she can even care for her adopted stray cat. But waiting for the safe return of the man she loves might be the most excruciating trial of her life, and she’s pulled herself together with strength she never knew existed.

Grant Twombley has reached his limit. Normally gregarious and good-natured, his spirit takes a leave of absence after he’s returned to Rio’s side. He’s unharmed—or so it appears. He never thought he’d revisit the dark side of his temperament, but it slides back into place like his favorite worn-in jeans. And what do you know? The damn things still fit.

Maybe a little too well.

If Rio can conquer her demons, she just might be the guiding light Grant needs. But will it be enough for them to finally have their shot at happiness?

••••••

REVIEW: GRANT’S BLAZE is the sixth instalment in the contemporary, adult SHARK’S EDGE erotic, romantic suspense series co-authored by Angel Payne and Victoria Blue, and the third instalment focusing on businessman Grant Twombley, and caterer Rio Gibson. GRANT’S BLAZE should be not read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events and cliff hanger of book two GRANT’S FLAME. Grant and Rio were first introduced in books 1-3 of Shark’s Edge.

NOTE: If you have not read the first two books in the series there may be spoilers in my review.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Grant and Rio) GRANT’S BLAZE picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book two GRANT’S FLAME wherein our hero has been abducted by pirates, and Rio is desperate to find the man that she loves. Begging Grant’s business partner Elijah Banks for help, Rio is stunned to discover that Elijah seems unconcerned about his best friend and partner. Rio, always riding the edge of lucidity and madness, finds herself trying to control the demons that want to pull her down but Grant’s rescue and return comes with secrets of his own, secrets that place Grant precariously on the abyss of spiralling out of control. What ensues is the ongoing relationship between Grant and Rio, and the potential fall-out as Grant continues to struggle in the aftermath of his abduction, and what it means to his business partner Sebastian Stark.

We welcome the return of Grant’s business partners Sebastian Shark and his fiancé Abbigail Gibson, and Elijah Banks; Rio’s co-worker Hannah Farsey, a young woman of whom Elijah is about to take control.

GRANT’S BLAZE is a story of power and control, abuse and obsession, loss, desperation and desperation, and the emotional fall-out of capture and isolation. Payne and Blue pull the reader into a heart breaking and impassioned story of two people on the precipice of both an emotional and mental break down having experienced too many set backs in their lives. The premise is sensitive and haunting; the romance is captivating and provocative-but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word; the characters are broken, but struggling to heal.

Playing It Safe by Amy Andrews – a Review

Playing It Safe by Amy Andrews – a Review

Amazon / B&N Kobo / Google Play / Apple

Description:
Donovan Bane loves playing rugby for the Sydney Smoke. And if that means he has to keep his sexuality a secret, that’s a sacrifice he’s prepared to make. At least until after he retires, anyway. He doesn’t want to be the first pro rugby player in Australia to officially come out while still playing. The team doesn’t need the media shit storm and he’d rather be known for his footy skills. Which means no dating, no relationships, no sex. Nothing but playing ball.

Until one man suddenly changes everything…

Beckett Stanton is out and proud—and not looking for a guy who isn’t. Been there, done that, complete disaster. Unfortunately, on the first day of his new job working for the Sydney Smoke, he locks eyes with Donovan Bane and he’s a goner. Big, gruff, and athletic isn’t usually Beck’s type, but for some reason this man is ticking all his boxes. And it’s clear the feeling is mutual. It’s also clear that Donovan is not out, and doesn’t plan to be anytime soon. Still, Beck can’t resist being the man to show Donovan everything he’s been missing.

For the first time, Donovan doesn’t play it safe and allows himself to indulge in things with Beck he knows he can’t have. But when their relationship gets serious, he knows he has to choose between the career he loves and the man he loves, because how can he possibly have both?

Review:

Playing It Safe by Amy Andrews is the 7th book in her Sydney Smoke Rugby series. Donovan is a sports personality, so has an image to uphold. The last thing he needs is to be found out that he’s gay! So much pressure and financial worry has Donovan firmly in the closet!

Beckett a financial genius, gay and proud of it. It’s taken him a long time to accept and live himself, and he’s dated men who are scared of being found out, he’s not going to do that to himself again. He wants a man to openly show his love.

I loved the beginning of this story, the moment their eyes locked across the crowded restaurant, the chemistry practically sizzled off my kindle. Introductions are made and Donovan is just a gibbering wreck, he knows Beckett knows he’s gay, and hopes that he stays quiet. But at some point he wants to get to know this man. But working together is going to cause all types of hassles.

Donovan is dismayed that Beck is going to be working at the club he’s at! People will only have to look at them and know he fancies Beck! Beckett Stanton is a wonderful character, gentle, kind and totally gets where Donovan is coming from. He’s patient when Donovan has a melt down, he’s assertive when needed, and such a foil for the rough and gruff rugby player. He sees the real Donovan and does his best to bring that side out.

It’s about weighting up the pros and cons of a relationship. It’s about doing what’s right for you, and damn the consequences. But in Donovan’s case, he has his career/family to think about, what will his daughter think? What will his family and fans do?

But spending time with Beckett has him questioning those values. What if he misses out on the best thing that will ever happen to him? Doesn’t he deserve happiness? Yes he could wait until his career is done. But would Beck wait that long?

Beck understands where Donovan is coming from, but he won’t be a dirty little secret. He’s allowed to show his love, and if Donovan doesn’t want to show the world, then he’ll find someone who will!

It does slow down a little, and the constant looking over his shoulder has me wanting to shake Donovan, you understand his reluctance, but he going to lose Beck if he’s not careful!

This book is in a series, I’ve not read any of the previous books, but I probably will go back at some point. It doesn’t spoil this book if you don’t read the others first, but I was surprised to find it’s an MM (male/male) read in a FM (female/male) series (I’ve noticed a lot of authors branching out recently, which is good, nothing wrong with a little change up).

It’s also a sports romance (not a big fan) but it’s written really well. A slow burn romance that will tug at the heartstrings and the face muscles. It’s left me with a smile ?

I changed as a man, as a person, my soul was damaged beyond repair.
So I turned into someone everyone would hate.
Because I hate everyone and everything.
I’m furious at the world.
I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
But then it does change.
And if there is one thing I am not good at, it’s adapting.

Hope, Bullseye’s daughter, jump starts my soul again.
I hate it.
I love it.
I need her.
But I can’t have her.
She’s my friend’s daughter, for one.
For two, she’s way too damn young for the likes of me.
Three? She’s got a kid.
And everyone knows how I feel about kids.

Vermin. Loud. Annoying.
Wonderful. Beautiful. Precious.
The voice inside my head is stupid.
It wants and wants but I won’t allow myself to have it.

REVIEW:BADGE is the eighteenth instalment in KL Savage’s contemporary, adult RUTHLESS KINGS MC: LAS VEGAS erotic, MC, romance series focusing on the men and women of the Ruthless Kings MC. This is former police officer Forrest ‘Badge’ Walker, and eighteen year old Hope’s story line . BADGE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order. Hope is the Ruthless King’s MC President Reaper’s daughter.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Badge and Hope) BADGE focuses on forbidden but building relationship between former police officer Forrest ‘Badge’ Walker, and the Ruthless Kings MC president’s eighteen year old, daughter Hope. Months earlier Hope arrived at the Ruthless Kings MC Las Vegas compound, and in the ensuing time gave birth to her daughter Faith but Hope’s attraction to former police officer turned MC member Badge is constantly rebuffed by our story line hero whose emotional stability is about to implode. Feeling restless, Badge opens up his own PI service, and his first case places him in the midst of a serial killing, a killing that hits too close to home. As the killer continues on their murderous spree, a familiar face is about to destroy all of the peace Badge has found since falling for our story line heroine. What ensues is the age-gap romance between Badge and Hope, as Badge struggles to contain a killer.

At eighteen years of age, Badge had his whole life ahead of him but in the blink of an eye, he lost everything that meant the world. Fast forward to present day, and the past is about to come full circle, drowning our hero in a whirlwind of memories and loss. Hope has never known love until she arrived at the Ruthless Kings MC. Discovering her real family meant finding the happiness and peace she so longed to have but falling for Badge meant falling for a man who continued to battle his own recurring nightmare.

The relationship between Badge and Hope is a forbidden love; an age-gap romance between the President’s daughter and a member of the MC. Reaper struggles to acknowledge his daughter’s attraction to a man who is struggling with his own demons but Hope is the perfect foil for a man who has lost so much. The $ex scenes are erotic, provocative and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including several of the previous story line characters and couples; the return of Seer and Hex, as well as Boomer and the gang.

BADGE is an emotional story of heart break and loss; acceptance, love and moving forward. The premise is raw and twisted; the romance is edgy and dramatic; the characters are broken yet powerful and strong.

“Can I talk to you for a second, Hope?” I ask her between tight teeth. There is no fucking way another man is taking my woman out on a date.
“Sure,” she chirps and begins to walk in front of me.
My eyes eat her up, watching her plump ass shake under that dress. Jesus, is she wearing anything under it? Her heels click against the hardwood floors and she opens her bedroom door to invite me in.
Bullseye gives me a curious glance but doesn’t think much of it when I keep the door open.
“Can this be quick?” Hope asks, staring at her phone. “Benji will be here any minute.”
I rub a hand over my mouth and take a deep breath. “What the hell are you doing? You can’t go out with… Benji.” I nearly spit his name as I say it. I don’t like the guy. I used to, but not anymore.
“Why not? He’s around my age. He is kind. He is interested in Faith—”
“—He asked about her?” I grind my teeth together at his audacity. “She is m—” I almost say ‘she’s my little girl’, but I catch myself. I’m so messed up in the head. I don’t know when I started thinking that. I’ve barely spent any time with her. “Why are you doing this to me?” I whisper, realizing how selfish I sound.
“Doing this to you? I’m not doing anything to you, Forrest. I told you I wasn’t going to wait around. You said you didn’t want me. You pushed me away.”
“He isn’t allowed to have you,” I growl, taking a step forward, readying myself to rip that dress off her and show her who she really belongs to.
Hope shoves me in the chest and points her finger at me. “You arrogant bastard. You don’t want me but no one else can have me? Fuck you, Forrest. You had your chance and guess what?”
“Hope! Benji is here!” Bullseye calls out from the kitchen.
Hope lowers her voice and shoves me again. “And you aren’t going to have another one. You’re going to watch me walk out of here looking fucking amazing and you’re going to wish you weren’t being a coward.” She thrusts her shoulders back and clutches her black billfold against her chest.
Hope goes to walk around and I wrap my hand around her to stop her, tugging her against me. I don’t give her time to think. I clutch the back of her neck with my hand and yank her to me, pressing my lips against hers.
My soul is righted as soon as our lips meet. All the pain disappears; all the burdens I’ve made myself carry melt away. I want to admit everything I am to her. No other man can have these lips of hers. No other man can make her gasp and clutch onto them like I can.
Maybe I am an arrogant man. I never considered myself one.
But I am when it comes to her.
No one else can have my slice of heaven, not when I’m finally accepting her light.
She rips her lips from mine and before I can blink, her palm meets my cheek. “How fucking dare you,” she hisses. “You kiss me before I meet with another man, why?”
I wrap my hand around her throat and shove her against the wall, pressing my body against hers. My cock is pressed against her thigh and her swollen lips part, her lipstick smeared and all fucked up from our kiss.
Good.
“So when you’re with him, all you can think about, all you can taste, is me.”
“You are out of your damn mind if you think I’m going to be thinking about you at all.”
“Hope!” Bullseye calls out again, and I take a step back.
“Yeah, better get away from me,” she sneers. “Or you’ll have to deal with Daddy.”
My heart plummets. I screwed up.
“You better hope you got everything you wanted out of that kiss because that’s the last time you ever touch me.” She cleans the outline of her lips with her thumb, fixing the evidence of our kiss. “God, you’re unbelievable,” she scoffs.

K.L. Savage decided they were tired of looking for the kind of books they wanted to read. They had an itch that needed to be scratched, and as every girl knows, nothing scratches better than an alpha.

They write about gritty, alpha males, sometimes their dark sides, and the women they love.
If you have the same itch, their alpha males should fix that.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 7, 2021

I can’t have Elijah Iverson.

I can’t have him because he’s my older brother’s best friend. I can’t have him because I broke his heart five years ago; because he’s now engaged to someone else—someone kind and dependable who deserves his whiskey eyes, his soft mouth, his fierce intellect.

I can’t have Elijah because I’ve chosen God instead.

The Bell brothers, though . . . well, we don’t exactly have the greatest track record with vows. But I’m determined to do this monk thing right—to pledge myself to a cloistered life and spend the rest of my years in chastity and prayer. But now Elijah’s here. He’s here and he’s coming with me on my European monastery road trip, and between the whispered confessions and the stolen kisses and the moments bent over an ancient altar, my vows are feeling flimsier by the day.

And vows or not, I know in my heart that it would take more than a good and holy monk to resist Elijah Iverson right now. It would take a saint.

And we all know that I’m no saint.

REVIEW: Wowzers!!!!

Book three in the Priest series by Sierra Simone is here and what a whopper this one is! Saint is a gay romance that will ignite the blood and keep your fantasy busy for days to come. All books in the series can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend reading them in order at least.

Aiden and Elijah. A combo that I knew I was going to be obsessed with. Aiden is a monk, and a very complicated complex character. He is so much more than I ever gave him credit for, in this book we get down into his deepest thoughts and darkest memories. When everything comes to light towards that back half of the book, get ready readers, it’s gonna stop your breath. Aiden and Elijah have a past and they’ve known each other for a while. While their story is so freaking hot in the spicy department, I wish we would have got a little more of their relationship. There was so much to tell, so much to live to, but parts of the story felt a little flat for me. Only parts though, and not enough to make this any less than a four-star review.

Aiden and Elijah used to be together and some stuff happened and they broke up. The book starts off where they break up and Elijah, as a journalist, comes to do a story about Aiden and the monastery. He uses this as his chance to tell Aiden that he is getting married. Well, that doesn’t end well. As soon as they see each other the feelings return and they are left with a now forbidden desire for each other. From there the spicy just skyrockets!

Sierra Simone is a freaking genius when it comes to writing these kinds of books, I have to give it to her. The breathtaking, pulse pounding, moving reads that come from her are just amazing!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 19, 2015

There are many rules a priest can’t break.
A priest cannot marry. A priest cannot abandon his flock. A priest cannot forsake his God.

I’ve always been good at following rules.
Until she came.
My name is Tyler Anselm Bell. I’m twenty-nine years old. Six months ago, I broke my vow of celibacy on the altar of my own church, and God help me, I would do it again.
I am a priest and this is my confession.

REVIEW:First and foremost, WOW. I wish I could use emoji’s in reviews, the fire one and the mind blown one would literally suit this so well. LOL. My mind is actually having trouble forming any other words but, hot diggity damn. As a new reader to Sierra Simone, I keep finding myself taking a long, wet swim in her worlds. Priest is the first in what I imagine will be a very spicy series. The book can be read as a standalone, and is sure to peak the interests of the Spicer readers.

There is so much to this book, so I will try to keep this review as basic as possible. Priest is the story of Tyler and Poppy, two people that you never think would meet, but do. Poppy is a prim and polished business woman, and Tyler is a Priest. When Poppy comes in for Confession, neither are prepared for what follows.

I can’t express enough the level of spicy this book holds, even for a person that reads the stuff that I read, my face was all kinds of red. Forbidden romance, knowing it’s wrong, but feels oh so right, neither Tyler or Poppy can stop what’s building now. There is so much to their story, the complication of Tyler’s vow to God, the Church and of course Poppy. I know some people may be offended by some parts of the story, so here is that warning now. It’s a mind boggling read that will have you pausing just to breathe normally. I downloaded the second book faster than lighting when I finished this story. Wow, fantastic, totally did freaked me out at how much I loved it!

ABOUT THE BOOK: March 15, 2018

Sinner.

REVIEW: FLAWLESS!!

I didn’t think it was possible to adore another book by this author but I was wrong. Sinner blew me away. The second standalone book in the Priest series by Sierra Simone, Sinner is nothing less than an emotional wrecking ball of epic proportions. Sinner isn’t just another ghostly spicy read, it brings real issues to the forefront of the mind for readers to think about. Sierra has a way of building a world with characters that make the reader feel. She plunges into the dark waters of her own mind and brings up shining gold treasure that moves her readers. Reading her books really does feel like being transported to the world she builds, to the mind and pain these characters are feeling. It’s an escape from reality.

Sean and Zenny know what they are doing is filthy, but nothing has ever been so good for them before. Zenny has made her decision, she knows what she wants to do, but the one thing she wants before her new life starts is exploration. Exploration of herself, and not in the knowing your own mind kind of way, in the way that she wants as many O’s as she can possibly get. She wants to learn her own body, what it likes and doesn’t, what it means to feel sexy and wanted, to be with a man. She wants to sin. For that she needs Sean and all his sinning ways.

Holy, holy, holy, and not in the church find of way. Five stars doesn’t seem enough to give for this book, there needs to be more. If Sierra can make something like this, I wait with baited breath to see what she does next. It’s going to be a whole other level of hot.

The first time we met, I was rescuing her from a cult.

The second time I laid eyes on her was when she showed up at Cerberus with a secret, asking me for an unthinkable favor. What she was offering was something I never thought I could have, so I readily agreed.

I wanted more than just her secret though.

How can I convince my wife to fall in love with me when someone else is threatening to take it all away?

REVIEW:APOLLO is the eighteenth instalment in Marie James’ contemporary, adult CERBERUS MC erotic, MC romance series. This is US Marine, Nate ‘Apollo’ Fosse, and April Gibson’s story line. APOLLO can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. April Gibson is Cara Gibson’s sister (THUMPER).

Told from dual first person perspectives (April and Nate), APOLLO follows in the aftermath of our heroine’s rescue and relocation from a cult but all is not well in April Gibson’s life. Pregnant and homeless, April seeks out the Cerberus MC, her sister Cara, and ultimately Nate ‘Apollo’ Fosse, the man with whom April will fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between April and Nate, and the potential fall-out as April’s past demands everything and more.

April Gibson knew her life would never be ‘normal’ but never expected to get pregnant by her high school sweetheart, or find herself homeless when her ultra-conservation, very religious grandparents saw nothing more than an act of sin. With no place to go, April headed to the Cerberus MC clubhouse, hoping to convince Nate to marry her, in an effort to allow her child to be born without sin. Nate Fosse never expected to fall in love, and definitely ensured he would never have kids but when April offered up her hand in marriage, Nate jumped at the chance to help a young woman who has never known love or safety in her life.

The relationship between Nate and April begins as a marriage of convenience that quickly sours when April is unable to look beyond Nate’s previous relationships. Trusting her new husband is difficult with his reputation as a bit of a manwh*re, but believing in herself is much more difficult and harder than she can imagine. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including several of the previous story line couples or characters. We are re-introduced to attorney Faith Robbins, as well as April’s ex-boyfriend Cory Clark.

APOLLO is a story of family and relationships, friendships, determination, acceptance and love. The premise is edgy; the romance is provocative and seductive-the sexual chemistry is palpable; the characters are flirty, broken and determined. My only complaint is the rapid one-eighty of our story line heroine-from innocent, naïve, awkward, recluse to a sexual kitten and flirty young woman.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 9, 2021.

Caleb Burke.

Charming. Funny. Sexy.

Major player – both on the field and with the ladies.

I hate him.

Well, not really. I resist his so-called charms because I recognize them. We’re a lot alike, Caleb and I. He’s afraid of commitment? Me too. A giant flirt? Same here. He knows how to party? I am the absolute queen of the party.

Until I realize it’s time for me to grow up and become a responsible adult. I’ll be student teaching next year, so to save money, I move in with my two new roommates — Eli Bennett and Caleb. Then I find a summer job — where Caleb works. Soon, I’m spending almost every single day with the guy.

He’s growing on me too. We’ve always had this unspoken chemistry brewing between us. When we finally give in to it, it’s just as spectacular as I secretly predicted. The sex, and everything else, keeps getting better and better between us too.

But can I really take this guy seriously? Or am I only setting myself up to fail?

REVIEW:THE JUNIOR is the third instalment in Monica Murphy’s contemporary , new adult COLLEGE YEARS erotic, romance series-a spin off from the author’s The Callahans. This is twenty year old, college junior/football player Caleb Burke, and twenty-two year old, student teacher Gracie Hughes’ story line. THE JUNIOR can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Gracie and Caleb) THE JUNIOR follows the building romance and relationship between twenty year old, college junior/football player Caleb Burke, and twenty-two year old, student teacher Gracie Hughes. Summer break means looking for a job, and Gracie Hughes finds herself working alongside her new roommate and self-professed manwh*re Caleb Burke. Caleb is about to enter his junior year at college, and is looking forward to a summer of one-night stands but the back and forth, acrimonious relationship with his new roommate, finds our hero looking for something more permanent with Gracie Hughes. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Gracie and Caleb, and the potential fall-out as the ‘friends with benefits’ relationship turns into something more, something Gracie struggles to accept for the long term.

Gracie Hughes knows that her time with Caleb is only temporary; a summer fling with a man/boy whose all about the party and fun-his lack of maturity is a point of contention for our story line heroine. With the end of summer approaching Gracie and Caleb’s relationship jumps to the next level, a level Gracie believes is temporary and doomed to end. Caleb Hughes has a reputation as a love’em and leave’em kinda of guy, and his earlier encounters, bickering with Gracie prove they are doomed as a long-term couple.

The relationship between Caleb and Gracie begins acrimoniously as their constant bickering carries over into their relationship with mutual friends. Agreeing to get along for the sake of their friends, their current living arrangements and of course, as co-workers at the local club, Caleb and Gracie find themselves acting on their attraction but keeping their relationship on the down low. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Most of the previous story line couples return. Eli and Ava, Jackson and Ellie, Hannah and Jake, Diego and Jocelyn, Tony and Hayden. Eli and Ava’s continuing story is next in The Senior.

THE JUNIOR is a story of friendships, acceptance, love and trust. The fast paced, character driven premise is captivating and engaging; the romance is heavy and hot-the sexual chemistry palpable; the characters are energetic, and dynamic. THE JUNIOR ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

REVIEW: ROCK STEADY is the first instalment in MJ Roberts’ contemporary, adult KENNER BROTHERS erotic, rock romance series, and the sixth instalment in the author’s ROCK HARD series. This is thirty-one year old,  lead singer for Dirt Cherry Venom Kenner, and twenty-three  year old, nursing student/PR promoter Jenna Demptation’s story line. ROCK STEADY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. You do not have to have read any of the previous story lines.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jenna and Venom) ROCK STEADY focuses on the building romance and relationship between Dirt Cherry’s lead singer Venom Kenner, and nursing student Jenna Demptation. Venom Kenner fell in love with Jenna Demptation the first time they met but Jenna continued to avoid our hero, freezing him out when ever he wanted to talk. Working alongside her sister Kate (Rock Harder) on the PR for the all of the bands on the tour, Jenna finds herself focusing on our hero, the man with whom she will fall in love but Jenna struggles with demons from her past, believing she is unworthy of a man such as Venom Kenner. With the approach of a new school year, Jenna is about to enter nursing school while the band continues their concert tour in Mexico and Texas. Time apart forces Jenna to think about her future, a future that may or may not include our story line hero. What ensues is the building but trepidatious relationship between Jenna and Venom, as our couple must navigate the pitfalls of fame, and time spent apart of their chosen professions.

Jenna Demptation’s past continues to control her present, and in this, she is distrustful of men including rock star Venom Kenner. Venom is a rock god; a sexy, beautiful singer, a man Jenna believes is too good to be true. Jenna suffers with issues of low self esteem, believing she is not worthy of Venom’s love but Venom is desperate to prove she is worthy, pulling out all of the proverbial stops in his seduction of Jenna Demptation. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Venom’s ‘brothers’,  the members of Dirt Cherry: Over-Kill, Knife-Edge, Clay, and Hair-Trigger, as well as the return of Kate and Jace (Rock Harder), and several members from the other bands.

ROCK STEADY is a story of family, friendships and relationships. We learn about Jenna’s horrific past, and the Kenner ‘brothers’ family of foundlings and love. The premise is engaging and captivating; the romance is seductive and hot; the characters are animated, a little broken, but healing.

My only complaint, is the abrupt ending. I actually went back and forth in the book, to determine if I was missing something or there was a formatting error. Something was missing, there was no build up to the final two epilogues.
